Episode 123- Join host Troy Saunders as he chats the vocal powerhouse singer, writer and arranger Jacci McGhee!!Best known for her belted-out duet with Keith Sweat on the hit song of the 1980s, “Make It Last Forever,” Jacci has returned, from a self-admitted dark place, to her passion and gift of singing. Actually, Jacci began her reappearance on the music scene in 2015 with step-out vocals alongside Dominique, on DJ Jay Salter's international EDM hit, “Angel of Mine” (Soul Remix). Once the song took off on the streaming sites, momentum began to build. It continued to escalate with the booking of a modeling job through a chance encounter at a local New York coffee. “The owner of a gourmet popcorn line approached me and asked me if I would do a print ad for him in a food magazine,” she said. “It became my first modeling job.” Afterward, she was a bitten by the acting bug, co-starring in a short film on teen suicide with Marc John Jefferies, the actor best known for film and TV productions: “Power”; “Get Rich or Die Tryin'” and “Losing Isaiah,” to name a fewMcGhee's music career was spawned by her duet with Sweat on the R&B chart-topper “Make It Last Forever” and lead vocals on Salt-N-Pepa's hit “Expression.” Immediately afterward, she was signed to MCA, now Geffen Records, releasing a top 10 R&B single, “It Hurts Me.” With corporate shake-ups, she got lost in the fray. But bounced back as the successor to Sandra St. Victor, taking over as lead vocalist for urban alternative band The Family Stand, on their “Connected” album.Following the dissolution of the band, she steered her vocal talents to opportunities to sing jingles for ad campaigns while raising a family. Her reconnections with DJ Jay Salter resulted in the 2017 Christmas pop single, “Every Day Is A Holiday.”In 2017, the New York native used her vocal and comedic chops to host R&B Live showcases in Charlotte, N.C., and Philadelphia, and later worked alongside Talent The Comedian, in collaborative routines. However, the family took priority. Upon her return to New York, the mother of three took a hiatus from music to immediately step into the role of caregiver for her fourteen-year-old daughter, Madison, who was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes.A woman of great faith, Jacci said it was a spiritual experience that encouraged her to return to singing. “The Most High touched my spirit and told me to move forward and sing again,” she said. That decision resulted in a return collaboration with a friend and former producer, DECLARE. Together, they composed the new single “If This World Were Mine” with an accompanying video, directed by her son, Kamrin, a filmmaker and graduate of the arts from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Her daughter also makes a cameo. In 2022, Jacci released ‘Riches of the World' - a high-octane cautionary pop record with an equally electric music video - in addition to a Remix with legendary hip-hop artist Chubb Rock the following year.In the summer of 2023, the re-release of the expanded edition of Jacci McGhee's self-titled debut album (1992) hit all streaming platforms. Jacci's 2023 single ‘Time and Time' would also go on to chart highly on the UK Amazon charts. A year later, in the summer of 2024, Jacci debuted her latest single 'Slow Down,' produced by Father MC, with music composed by Rockwilder. Her latest single 'No More', produced by Producer Declare, is set to release November 8th. This single paves the way for her forthcoming EP Jacci's Closet, releasing January 2025“I've got butterflies in my stomach because it's all new to me. But it just feels like it's my time and I'm ready.”— Jacci McGheeListen and subscribe to the BAAS Entertainment Podcast on Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Deezer, iHeartRadio, Pandora, Podchaser, Pocket Casts and TuneIn. “Hey, Alexa. B. Cox & J. Owe review 50 Cent's explosive debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin' as it turns 20. After a successful run as a protege of Run DMC's Jam Master Jay, the Queens youth turned drug dealer turned emcee was set to make his mark after series of setbacks including being shot multiple times, being dropped by his label while having his debut album scrapped and being blacklisted from the industry. After getting back on his feet and releasing several independent mixtapes, his free agency prompted one of the rap game's most competitive bidding wars. Dr. Dre and Eminem emerged victorious, signing him to a $1 million deal to Shady Records and Aftermath Entertainment and prepared to record his debut album. Working under the masterful guidance and tutelage of Dre and Eminem, the album was also boosted by production from the likes of several standout producers such as Sha Money XL, J-Praize, Rockwilder, Megahertz, Dirty Swift, Mike Elizondo, Darrell "Digga" Branch and others. The multi-layered, multi faceted production approach was the perfect soundtrack behind 50s trademark voice that laced the tracks with a mix of wittty bars and gritty street tales. He was also assisted with features from the likes of Eminem, Nate Dogg and his fellow G-Unit comrades Lloyd Banks, Young Buck and Tony Yayo. The debut week was massive, selling over 870,000 copies, becoming at the time the biggest debut for a hip-hop album ever. the album was boosted by many singles, including the Billboard Hot 100 #1 singles "In the Club" and "21 Questions" along with the Top 10 hit "P.I.M.P". "In the Club" became one of the most successful hip-hop and crossover singles in the 2000s. The album would also become RIAA-certified 9x platinum. It has led to 50 Cent being one of the most successful hip-hop artists of all time and led to his additional successes in branding, entertainment and liquor manufacturing among many other ventures.Visit The Vault Classic Music Reviews Onlinewww.vaultclassicpod.comSupport The Vault Classic Music Review on Buy Me A Coffeehttps://www.buymeacoffee.com/vaultclassicpodBuild Your Own Amazing Podcast Website In Less Than 5 Minutes!https://www.podpage.com/?via=ivecre8Show NotesCrack Magazine: The undeniable impact of 'Get Rich Or Die Tryin'" https://crackmagazine.net/article/long-reads/retrospective-get-rich-die-tryin/OkayPlayer: The secret history of 50 Cent's "Get Rich Or Die Tryin'" https://www.okayplayer.com/originals/secret-history-50-cent-get-rich-or-die-tryin-lp.htmlPassionWeiss: The Diamond In The Dirt-50 Cent's 'Get Rich Or Die Tryin' Turns 20 https://www.passionweiss.com/2023/01/31/the-diamond-in-the-dirt-50-cents-get-rich-or-dyin-turns-20/HipHopXXIV: 50 Cent Responds to Jay-Z's 20 Year Old Warning https://hiphopxxiv.com/50-cent-responds-to-jay-zs-20-year-old-warning/Rock The Bells: Classic Albums: 50 Cent 'Get Rich Or Die Tryin'' https://rockthebells.com/articles/classic-albums-get-rich-or-die-tryin-by-50-cent/Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-vault-classic-music-reviews-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

We are back for PART 2 of our Destiny's Child “Destiny Fulfilled” journey. In this episode, Angie (@poetrysoul3) and Steffi (@inn_mho) break down the era!  For the first 20 minutes of this episode, we read and play your voice messages regarding thoughts on Part 1 of our Destiny's Child “Destiny Fulfilled” episode plus a continued discussion on Beyoncé's “Renaissance” and cultural appropriation. As always, a huge shout out and thank you to those of you who submitted your thoughts!  In our Era Breakdown episodes, we touch on so many topics like career context, controversies/scandals of the era, marketing, music videos, live performances, album stats, and the album & era's ultimate impact and legacy. For this episode, we talk about where Michelle, Kelly, and Beyoncé were at going into the Destiny Fulfilled era and how Beyoncé's enormous solo success overshadowed the girls' promotional tour. We also reflect on the “Poor Michelle'' narrative and how the general public contributed to the narrative. Plus, we share our thoughts on why we think Destiny's Child's “Destiny Fulfilled” era should be studied by future girl groups in the music industry. Again, this is part 2 of the conversation! So make sure you listen to part 1 where we discussed the album track by track. We hope you enjoyed our Destiny's Child “Destiny Fulfilled” journey! Album Info: Destiny Fulfilled is the fifth and last studio album by American R&B trio Destiny's Child. It was released on November 16, 2004, by Columbia Records and Sony Urban Music. A comeback release, it marked the return of Destiny's Child after the group went into hiatus, which allowed each member to release solo albums. Unlike their previous material, this record saw each member equally contributing to the songwriting and production. B. Cox & J. Owe review Redman's classic third album Muddy Waters. After a successful sophmore album Dare Iz A Darkside and a time when Redman self admitted he was in a dark place and time, the Brick City emcee linked back up with fellow Def Squad member Erick Sermon to close out the ultra competitive year of 1996. Displying a level of emceeing not seen often by even the top emcees and funky, soulful and innovative production by the likes of Sermon and Rockwilder, Redman delivered his best work yet in a way that only he could do; With blunt force punchlines, unforgettable references and his unique brand of humor through a number of classic skits. In the 25 years since its release, it has reached epic porportions among critics, hip-hop peers and fans alike and is often mentioned as one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time.Visit The Vault: Classic Music Review Podcast's Websitewww.vaultclassicpod.comShow Notes: Albumism: Redman 'Muddy Waters' Turns 25 | Anniversary Retrospectivehttps://www.albumism.com/features/tribute-celebrating-25-years-of-redman-muddy-watersBehind The Rhymes: When Redman Should Make Every Top 5: The Muddy Waters Anniversary https://behindtherhyme.com/2016/12/10/redman-muddy-waters-album-anniversary/RockTheBells: A Stoned-Out Rap Masterpiece: Redman's 'Muddy Waters' at 25 https://rockthebells.com/articles/redman-muddy-waters/Support this podcast at — https://redcircle.com/the-vault-classic-music-reviews-podcast/donationsAdvertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Shae Fiol grew up in Portland, Oregon, surrounded by family members who were classically trained musicians such as her mother, father, both grandmothers. She is a true performer, the complete musical package -arranger, guitarist, lyricist, songwriter and vocalist. Her path to music began in her sophomore year at New Mexico University when her father came up with a great way for Shae to earn tuition - by writing songs. After purchasing his daughter a digital tape four track, he agreed to pay her $250 for every song she wrote. The result was a nine-song demo, which not only earned her enough cash to live off but also became the catalyst to build her indomitable song writing skills. After college, Shae's musical ambitions helped to land her in L.A. where she worked with Tha Liks, especially J-ro on a track "Run Wild" Just a year later, Shae was invited to New York City by Rockwilder to work with him on her album. Shae now calls Brooklyn home. She is a well-rounded performer who has showcased her talents at well-known NYC venues ranging from Joe's Pub, BAM and SOB's. She describes her music as creating the type of vibe, which allows one to travel inside their mind and daydream while still appreciating the eclectic mix of classical, folk, rhythm and blues, hip-hop, jazz and Latin playing in the background. Her music is personal, searching, and adventurous. Shae's first full-length album, Catch a Ride, was produced mostly by her collaborations featuring Grammy Award winners Stuart Matthewman of Sade, Me'shell Ndegeocello, and producer Rockwilder.
