A well-written sales page can effectively communicate your brand's value proposition, highlight the benefits of your products or services, and create a sense of trust and credibility. Today, I am joined by Sage Polaris, who I know from a women's networking group. This week we are excited to have guest Sage Polaris. She has written high converting copy for more than 400+ clients earning them millions of dollars. She helps personal brands and service providers sell more of their service or offer with the words on their website. Her emails and sales pages are responsible for generating as much as 7 figures in a single launch.   How Intuition Can Affect Decisions In Your Business  Sage shares how her inner voice leads her to focus more on what the clients want and what they tell her they need to decide to buy from her. Then she relies on her intuition to help her find solutions to the need they shared.  What Is Launching  Whitney & Sage discuss how they take a broader definition of launching that most. If you have something to sell it technically is a launch. Launching requires a different type of energy and it's up to the business owner how they choose to do it to make it feel expansive for them.  The Benefit of Launch Rituals  Sage shares some of the common practices she uses while launching to keep her energy high. She discusses how your location can play a huge role in the energy you put out. You also need to incorporate some type of movement practice to release any nervous, frenetic energy before you start any videos or training sessions. Abundance rituals can also bring in the correct vibration to allow the flow of energy in as well as the energy you are expelling out to your launch participants.   Conscious Launch Strategies  Sage discusses how to manage expectations for launching. It's easy when they are met or exceeded but how do you deal with results that fall short. Listen as she shares how she works through and processes the emotion that short fall brought up, as well as how being vulnerable with your audience creates a strong connection. Honesty with yourself, your close circle and then with your community at large is a muscle you have to develop over time.  Recommended Launch Practices  Tapping into your own intuition helps you identify your specific strengths and how you can best show up and contribute. Design strategies around your strengths so that the decisions you make during the launch are aligned with how you show up best. Sage feels one of the most important practices is to let others support you when you need it. Listen as Sage shares the list of questions to ask yourself to center, ground and tune in before your next launch.   If you resonate with Sage's unique take on ambition and feel like you too want to write your only rules when it comes to your business, check out the links below for all the ways to connect with Sage. Here's to staying Spiritual & Ambitious.  0:00 Intro  9:07 How Intuition Can Affect Decisions In Your Business  11:57 What Is Launching  19:10 The Benefit of Launch Rituals  23:14 Conscious Launch Strategies  31:42 Recommended Launch Practices    LINKS:  Sage's Free Gift To Triple Your Email Open Rates  Sage's Website  Sage's Facebook  Sage's Instagram  Whitney's Oracle Card Deck  Enroll in 4 Intuitive Languages® now  Whitney's Instagram  Book Sage Mentions    ** Rate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts ** Please consider rating and reviewing my show, Spiritual and Ambitious! Today, I'm speaking with copy-conversion expert Sage Polaris. We're discussing many fun things when it comes to copywriting to increase engagement with your community.  As you know, I prefer to get to know the person behind the business and today's conversation is no exception. Enjoy.   Sage shares with us her insights: “If things were not that different in the market right now, if there, wasn't inflation. I probably would have done the all-access pass again, and been good with that right. But you're right. There is this like - Oh, I keep wanting to change things to refresh my energy. But I think if something's working, it's one of the hardest things to do to just keep going with the thing that's working. And the one part that gives me a little solace, as I do that at like, keep the same offers year after year is to know, like my audience is changing like. Yes, there's people who have been with me for years and years and years, and I love up on them in my own way. And like, give them opportunities to continue to work with me. And there's a lot of new people who have never seen the thing that I've launched four rounds before. We're like brand new to it. They have no idea, so I keep them in mind, too. I'm like - I don't want to change things too much, because these new people are just, are going to be as excited as the other people from the last four rounds. Right? So I think it's a reconnection to understanding again who your audience is, and where their mindsets at, and meeting them where they're at…”   “So I do think, though, like if I had learned to be an energetic match to those goals, I, you know, could have received more easily. And I think that's the work that we can do with our mind right, and is very powerful. It's like you, don't have to have actually received the money to feel like you've received the money. So even one of my friends, we use this voice messaging app, and we'll send each other messages back and forth, and we'll finish like a task we need to do in our business to lead to the next launch or whatever, and we'll prepay ourselves like Yup, I finish that task. I'm paying myself fifty thousand dollars for that today. So those types of things like learning to tap into the feeling of that money before it comes, or even the feeling of people being in my programs before they're actually there. It doesn't always have to be attaching yourself to the money right like you can start to feel into and pre celebrate people being in something that you're going to offer in the future and celebrating it before, like taking myself to a nice meal, you know, hanging out with friends, going in a boat right with my family before the money is there. That has really helped me as well, because it's that feeling again, like I already feel abundant. I already feel wealthy just by being able to share this with my family right now.”   “And I kind of think of them as a triangle so the audience on the bottom, the offer in the middle of the copy at the top. I think the audience part is the most important first. It's surprisingly like I put it before the messaging right to have a good strategy to build that audience. So for me that evolution, like our last no-charge copy course that we did, we had thirty-seven hundred people sign up that broke all our records like we didn't expect that many. I had a good stretch goal that was near that number, but that was great. And what changed that specific launch though, was I was very, I had one question that I or not one question. I had one statement that I told myself right before that launch. I said, let no come from other places, not yourself, because I wanted to ask people to partner with me like we're talking about. And there was a hesitation of like not wanting to send the messages to people to ask them to help me launch this, right? So for me, that was a big thing like mindset-wise. Let no come from other places, not yourself like - make the asks. Do the things that are going to be uncomfortable that you think everyone's going to say no to you and just do it anyways…”   Sage Polaris has written high converting copy for more than 400+ clients earning them millions of dollars. Making and taking space in my business has been the greatest gift that I have given myself and my creative projects, including my podcast! This past summer I took for months off and went to long dreamed of places like Peru, and Scotland and also got to take time to really relax, plan, create and take extended time with family and friends. Sage Polaris has been my inspiration for developing this more spacious way of being and living and I'm experiencing it as a more "feminine way" of leading and balancing my life and business, so I invite you to join me as I explore this concept through several episodes this season. I've come to see how depleted I always was and how I had become my own worst boss when it came to my business. I was overwhelmed, uninspired and exhausted all the time, and never felt like I could take time away - which is exactly what we are conditioned to do as business owners and "industrial workers”- especially if you happen to be a generator type in human design. Experts like Sage helped me understand how to automate and streamline my business and help me identify areas where I could use some additional support. Once I began to taste what it felt like to automate certain things, I began to have more space for rest, fun, creativity, and so much more. The big shift for many entrepreneurs is setting the foundation from which they can scale their business. Sage Polaris is one of those professionals who is all about supporting other female entrepreneurs to create thriving a business that takes care of us and provides endless opportunity for rest and regeneration. I'm so excited for you to experience her magic! Listen in to this episode for the secret code to take advantage of a very special offer. How Sage became an entrepreneur How she got fired up to help women achieve their entrepreneurial goals based on what some guy said. The Book that changed everything and began to give her more confidence to set out on her own. How Sage realized she did not create her business to be her own worst boss. She began instituting "Fun Fridays" and started taking 4 months off. Lifecation is the word Sage uses to express the time she enjoys taking adventures and getting her head into the creative clouds How Sage partnered with her husband to redefine their roles in their parenting relationship in order to bring incremental change to her work/life balance. Why taking time and creating space allows you to make more of an impact and even earn more. How can we create a business that takes care of us? Why Sage wants the women in her life to out-earn the men in their lives because that money goes back to the community because women tend to do more generous things for others with the money they earn. Why templates are such an incredible way to assist us in making space for our businesses Why every entrepreneur needs to invest in "copy” and why templates are such a wonderful way to go. The Color Coded Copy System can help us identify the 4 types of buyers and how they think and how they purchase. Why Sage loves coaching entrepreneurs on how to bring a human touch to their business practices and get related to your clients and customers. How to grow your side hustle into your business. Learn about the Color Coded Copy System and how this particular episode invites women to close the gap with a special offer from Sage.

Copywriting has been around since the beginning of marketing and has always been the driving force behind a company's success. Sure, in the past, marketing experts focused more on direct mail, billboards, and newspaper ads, while today digital solutions are at the forefront of modern marketing. Still, through all these changes, copywriting remains the one thing your business cannot do without, no matter your preferred marketing strategy. In this episode, Sage Polaris will explain exactly why copywriting is so essential in digital marketing. Business Coaching with Join Up Dots

The Simpsons Sage Polaris joins us on the Join Up Dots podcast to share her secrets of copywriting success. As a soon to be Mum, Sage was inspired to create and run her own business to effectively take control of her time and future like so many future mothers have the urge and desire to do. Ten years later, she's built a thriving copywriting business, with the underlying intention of supporting women who want to make money from home, giving them the confidence to go after their dreams. What is the secret behind her success? One of her secret weapons is her ‘Simpsons Policy.' She's adapted the Simpsons with DISC personality profiles, usually used for hiring and team-building, to a color-coded copy system that helps writers appeal to 4 buyer types on sales pages, Facebook ads, and any landing page. We're constantly told that if you're talking to everyone you're reaching no one, and that appealing to multiple audiences on the same page is a jumbled mess. But she says when you apply this framework skilfully, you can dramatically improve your conversion rate by speaking directly to the different kinds of buyers, within an audience, that land on your page. So when did the Simpsons reveal themselves as future business partners? And where were the copywriting mistakes that she made in the past that held her back when she wanted to power forward? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Sage Polaris

Meet Renée Serrant-Layne, an online marketing and launch strategist, marketing systems expert, and avid track and field fan. Armed with her FCE Framework, Renée works with online entrepreneurs to design and build their custom marketing ecosystems that take care of their audience on their entire journey to a purchase. And to do so in a way that feels fun, fulfilling, and aligned with the way they want to show up, serve and sell to their audience. Renée is able to break down the marketing process into easy-to-follow steps, through her signature foundation, communication, and expansion process. Renée has proven through her work with clients that having a profitable business doesn't mean that you have to lose that personal touch or spend hours of your life doing activities that frustrate you and steal your joy. With 10 years of business development and online marketing experience, Renée brings a wealth of knowledge to the table for her clients, spanning social media strategy, funnel design, and marketing tech, as well as development of multiple income streams. Renée has been part of numerous marketing tech and business development panels, including the RAW Summit, the Innovate Barbados International conference, and many others. Renée's signature direct yet approachable style always makes clients feel understood and appreciated. Clients love Renée because of her thoroughness, responsiveness, sincere desire to see their businesses succeed, and unshakeable commitment to helping experts show up, market, and sell their products and services through genuine connections with their audience   Here's what we covered on the episode:   How Renée Got Started With Funnels + Showing Up Best  How Renée and I met through Sage Polaris, who recommended Renée to be on the podcast  Renée shares that she was working as a hairdresser in Barbados when she had her son but wanted a better way to leverage her skills and create a more flexible lifestyle, which is how she stumbled into consulting and the online space  When Renée first started, she had a mentor who was from Barbados that had created a virtual agency, which showed Renée what could be possible for her  To start, Renée was a general administration virtual assistant but quickly realized that wasn't what she wanted to do  A client asked Renée about using the Katra platform to build funnels and systems - after tinkering around with it, Renée found it very fun, which is how she got started with funnels and became familiar with automation Because Renée is a strategic thinker, she wasn't just happy setting up automation and doing design, so strategy became a big part of what she did and still does  Renée believes being able to see the bigger picture and piecing smaller things together is an important skill to have when it comes to funnels because it takes a lot of little things to create your outcome The first project Renée worked on was one where she had to design and set up a lead magnet - it was a downloadable PDF where she designed the page, set up the automation, and created a nurture sequence  In Renée's business, they focus on offering design, tech set-up, and copywriting for funnels Renée says it's important to know yourself and your brand so you can weave it into everything you do - it's not just about your brand colors; it's about the entire look and feel of a page, the language you use inside email sequences and the type of lead magnets you use to get people to join your email list or buy from you  For example, If you are more of a writer and are good at using language to get people in your funnels, you're probably not going to use a lot of videos or a podcast; you might use blog posts instead because writing is the best medium for you to communicate your value to your audience  When it comes to funnels, Renée says it's not about what the latest tools are or what's trending; it's about thinking about who you are, what your brand stands for, how you feel most comfortable, and what the most effective way is for you to show up and communicate with your audience  Client Sucess Story + Funnel Strategy  Renée shares the story of a client who wanted a funnel built and explains that the best way this client shows up is through speaking engagements, so at the end of the client's speaking sessions, she had a specific call to action which resulted in the client having an 80% email open rate, a 45% - 60% open rate for her nurture sequence and making over $100,000 on this one offer Renée's bread crumb sequence that they integrate into pretty much all nurture sequences is a way to drop information in bits to keep people engaged and wanting more until they get to the main offer  How mapping out the funnels is one of Renée's favorite parts of the process because people don't understand how strategic you have to be when creating a funnel - it's the whole process of someone learning about you to guiding them to buy your product or service  Renée finds that most people take the standard blueprint when it comes to funnels and apply it to their business without thinking about if it's in alignment with how they want to run their business or how they want to show up to communicate and sell  We are too ridged in the way we think about getting someone into our space and onto our email list - we need to realize there are so many different ways to get someone into your funnel Some things that are trending and working well, Renée says, are audio summits and podcasts  Webinars are not dead, but Renée says they are very dependent on the type of business you have, your business model, and who your audience is - the content of your webinar is very important and needs to be strategic  Renée uses her Facebook group and her personal Facebook page to market for her business but says referral partnerships have been the biggest driver for her business  In the last few years, Renée has learned that being able to pivot is essential to businesses because the market is everchanging, so you have to pivot to best serve or communicate with your audience   Another thing Renée has learned about herself is that she prefers relationships - she thinks it's very important to focus on developing relationships because not everyone will become a client, but they could become a referral partner or ambassador for your brand  Focus on connecting with people, being genuine, and authentic with people instead of just selling, selling, selling  Also, know that it's okay to do things differently than other people - you can take their advice and decide not to use it or adjust it and do it your own way - Renée shares that her approach to funnels has changed significantly over the last four years  Renée thinks we need to be way more strategic when it comes to funnels because we have approached funnels in an incorrect way for so long The intensive Renée did that changed her approach - she says you need to be more focused on the quality of clients you attract at the top of your funnel and then filter people out based on whether they are ready to work with you or not ready to work with you right now  What we tend to do is market to everybody and get anyone we can in our funnel, but what that does is dilutes the quality of clients because it's not speaking to a specific person who needs your information  How you should focus on attracting a very specific person that you know has been thinking about that problem at that particular point in time and then filter (instead of funneling) them into two segments - those who are ready to pay and looking for a solution and those who still need more information When you address your funnels with Renée's mindset, you will see that your buy-in time is shorter and your sales sequence is shorter because you've filtered people at the beginning vs. the end  If you're funneling, it can feel forced or pressure-focused, but filtering will help you have a much easier time developing and mapping out your funnels and presenting information in alignment with where the person is at in terms of the buyer's journey  Connect with Renée on Facebook, join her Simple, Sustainable Marketing Facebook Group or visit her website to learn more    Links mentioned: Connect with Renée on Facebook Simple, Sustainable Marketing Facebook Group Renée-Nichole Website   Like what you heard? As copywriters, we draw inspiration and know-how from all kinds of sources: professional salespeople… music… the sports world… fiction… even, the movies! But I have to admit, our guest today is the first copywriter I've ever heard of who draws her approach from The Simpsons! Yes, those Simpsons. Marge, Lisa, Bart and of course, the most unforgettable one, Homer. Copywriter Sage Polaris has come up with an ingenious system for seeing the Simpsons as personality archetypes — and using that viewpoint to reach more buyers in every promotion. Apparently it really works, too. Today she'll tell us how she used this system to write copy for a $1.25 million launch. Overall, Sage has written copy for more than 400 clients, with millions more in sales results. Now, getting your copy to that level of performance is rare enough in and of itself. But bringing it into the frame of everyone's favorite cartoon dysfunctional family is unique, it seems to me. Here's what Sage told us about on the show: • The four personality types of Bart, Homer, Marge, and Lisa – and what triggers their buying decisions • How to put these high sales conversion methods into practice, particularly regarding overall placement of testimonials, when branded photos and selfies are most effective, how music lyrics and puns can be used to close sales, and more. • How she used this exact method to earn her client $1.25 million in a single launch • How to discern when to write to just one or a couple of the buyer types • How these high conversion methods can help you connect beyond paid traffic and apply to organic traffic as well (Sage loves using this to build her audience in Facebook Groups) Sage is offering a free report, “3x Email Open Rates in 3 Steps.” Go to: https://sagepolaris.com/davidrocks Download.

Emily Reagan is a mom of four, Air Force wife, digital marketing consultant and founder of vacrashcourse.com. As a scrappy military wife who moves every two years, Emily has worked in various jobs related to public relations, marketing, sports media relations, journalism and video production. Finally her random skill set paid off as a freelancer digital media “VA” (virtual assistant). Now she helps creative entrepreneurs take their talents online, grow their social media presence and build their sales funnels. She quickly booked out and didn't like turning down clients, so she trained her smart military spouse and mom friends to learn digital media tech skills and take on clients as their own. She calls her Digital Media VA Crash Course graduates “unicorn VAs” because they have all the resourceful qualities, online insight and implementation skills that online business owners are looking to hire first... aka that total magical package. Here's what we covered on the episode: Emily's Background () How emily and I met over a year ago, before the pandemic at dinner through Sage Polaris at the TCC IRL event  The story of how Emily had her dream job, found out she was pregnant, moved again, became a stay at home mom, had a couple more kids, and moved a couple more times A friend of Emily's saw that a blogger needed help with a media kit and asked Emily if she would be interested; Emily said yes and explains that she googled what a media kit was because at that time social media was changing so much and she had been out of the workforce for a 4-5 years   Emily explains how doing this blogger's media kit opened one door after another and introduced her to Google Analytics  What's a Unicorn VA?  Why Emily doesn't like the term VA because to her, she was never just a virtual assistant, she had so many responsibilities and did so many tasks that had a direct impact on her clients and their business  What Emily teaches virtual assistants in her course is, get in, get your feet wet, learn the skills, figure out very quickly what you like, what you're good at, what you don't like and immediately start promoting yourself Promote yourself as a VA by taking on projects because so many businesses will hire in-house or hire overseas   When Emily talks about unicorn VAs, she's talking about that first person you hire when you need help with everything, someone who can help with the administrative tasks, but can also help with the tasks that bog you down weekly When deciding what you should or shouldn't take on as a VA, Emily says know what your zone of genius is and start handing off the things you aren't good at Emily shares that when you have a skill that's marketable, you just need to learn the online way of doing that business and shares a real example of someone in her course  When Emily first started, she kept her head down, said yes to the projects, had no vision but ended up booking out so quickly that she realized she needed to teach her other mom friends what she was doing because there was such a high demand for implementers  How training 8 women to take on and subcontract client work validated for Emily that she could teach people and realized she needed to scale it  How Emily's Business has Changed  The story of how Emily helped a client with a million dollar launch, where she stayed up until 1am rebuilding the client's tech library and realized she didn't want to be doing that anymore  Emily started to scale her course and put herself out there  How quiz funnels were a great way for Emily to keep her hand in the pot, but get out of hourly rates  When Emily pitched her first press kit, she charged $300 and shares she had some experience but didn't really know how to design, so ended up hiring it out  Emily started doing Pinterest for $10/hr and says she loved it because it was stress free  Now, Emily charges $100/hr and her day rates are $1,000 a day  Don't Wait Until It's Too Late If you are in need of a VA, you can go to hire a unicorn.com and fill out a form that they'll post in their student Facebook group Emily's advice is to not wait until it's too late to hire someone to help you; she also says don't get stuck on 1 tech skill you need because someone will be able to learn it  Even if a job listing has job requirements you don't meet, like needing 5 year of experience, Emily says put your name in the hat anyways  Why Emily tells all her students who are new to talk to their friends because they probably know a business owner who you can get work from  Emily tells us about the 4 women on her team and explains each of their roles, and shares that she does her own social media  Connect with Emily on Instagram or listen to her Podcast, Unicorns Unite or fill out a form at hire a unicorn.com if you are in need of a VA    Links mentioned:   Emily's VA Crash Course   Hire a Unicorn    Connect with Emily on Instagram    Listen to Emily's Podcast - Unicorns Unite    Like what you heard?  Click here to subscribe + leave a review on iTunes. Quickly discovering that she knew more about copy, launching and how to communicate and convert through the written word, I hired her to not only help me with writing copy and supporting the copy for my live event, I then invited her to begin coaching my clients inside my mastermind. I've learned so much from her over the last few years, that I knew immediately she needed to come on the show and share her brilliance with my listeners too. Patriarchy stress disorder, pandemic parenting, and creating a wildly successful and profitable business from a place of pleasure and desire - these topics are just the tip of the iceberg in this incredible episode with my esteemed guest, Sage Polaris. Many of you may already know that I am a lover of language, words, naming “it," synchronicity, and mysticism. I knew that the name “Sage” already intrigued me, and so of course I had to go digging below the surface, feeling into the deeper essence of what it means: Sage. noun * a profoundly wise person; a person famed for wisdom. * someone venerated for the possession of wisdom, judgment, and experience. adjective, sag·er, sag·est. * wise, judicious, or prudent: * sage advice. It did not take me long to recognize that Sage is aptly named, but then the name “Polaris” also had me Googling! Polaris: Also known as the North Star. Polaris lies nearly in a direct line with the Earth's rotational axis "above" the North Pole—the north celestial pole—Polaris stands almost motionless in the sky, and all the stars of the northern sky appear to rotate around it. I mean, can you stand it? Sage Polaris. Her name got me thinking about what it takes to be "sage." What I know about wisdom is that it's often gained by having faced tremendous trials, difficulty, and extreme challenges. There is a reason for instance, that Athena, Goddess of Wisdom, has the companion totem animal of the owl. An owl is a symbol of wisdom and is known to “cleave” through the darkness, able to view things from a higher perspective. I am loving the wisdom, perspective, and “Sage" offerings delivered in this episode. Listen in as we dive deeply into work, life, and love, and what Sage is doing to invite women to join her in seeking higher perspectives that bring more love and pleasure to our businesses and lives. I think you'll be amazed by what you hear. Thank you for your time, Sage! You are a gem! Sage Polaris has written high converting copy for more than 350 clients earning them millions of dollars. She helps personal brands and service providers sell more of their service or offer with the words on their website. She has worked with Chrisette Michele, James Wedmore, Rick Mulready, and Amber McCue. Basically, she makes money for the “internet famous” people we all look up to. *Show Notes: * * Sage has created her business by design, "If you share my values, I can work with you.” * Pandemic parenting + entrepreneurship has meant that Sage gets to show up authentically, sometimes with kids crawling all over her, while knowing that she's chosen to work with the clients who understand that this is part of where we all are in this moment. * Women are showing up for work differently, and not just during the pandemic. We have been evolving towards more work-life balance and honoring each other in this duality, of women who are out in the workforce and mothering at the same time and bringing that together in a way that feels supported. * Sage takes 4 months off each year, consistently doubles her revenues each year, and she does so unapologetically. * Sage writes “copy that converts” but really her job is to create “resonance” using language and words, and integrity to communicate the essence of her clients' offerings which she also calls "the sixth sense of copywriting." * Using this method, Sage has had upwards of 1.2, 5 million in revenues in a single launch for her clients. * All industries have a gritty and sleazy side, but if you are aware of your values aligning with your clients' values, it can be a magical marketing experience for both you and the customer. * Valerie Ryan is the author of the book, Patriarchy Stress Disorder and Sage has all of her students read it as a reminder that we are in a system that was built to oppress many people, particularly women, and that this is at the core of how we “work” and do life. * As women, we have to be aware of how we burn ourselves out because when we do that we can't affect positive change in the world. * We have to pay attention to how we place conditions on ourselves as women, even withholding love from ourselves because we don't realize that we've loved ourselves with conditions based on how we “perform” in our business.

I'm excited to be here. We're very excited to have you. Sage is a launch strategist to the online stars and she is a workless earn more mentor and we are very excited to hear more about working less, of course, but before we jump in, say I actually have a something that I know that my audience is very curious about because a lot, a lot of the people I deal with are women. And sometimes the question of the ego and this persona that we put out there and alongside imposter syndrome becomes a big thing. So I'm really interested in the fact that you, you actually changed your name to Sage Polaris, which is a fantastic name, but I would really like to know the story behind that.Sage: (01:57) Sure. Yeah. So I'm Sage to the artist formerly known as Sarah Grear. And the reason I decided to change my name is I was really stepping into a new identity in my business. I'm eight years deep into my business now and around like the six-year Mark, I realized that I no longer wanted to hide behind my client's success. I was doing a lot of client-based projects. They were having wonderful success with their launches. It was so beautiful to see, but I knew I was kind of hiding behind that and not really stepping out into my own identity. And so I decided to switch my name because I felt like it would signify something from myself like, okay, I'm not hiding anymore. I'm going to go into the spotlight, and since then I have been doing more, of my own launches for myself.Sage: (02:49)Personal/Individual Branding:I've also created co-created mastermind with my business partner, Tarzan Kay, which was a hundred per cent event that we ran in Niagara falls and then turn that into a mastermind. So all of these things were a way for me to kind of signal to myself and to everyone else that I was taking on a new identity for myself...

She has helped hundreds of businesses generate millions of dollars on Facebook and Instagram with many seeing a thousand percent PLUS return on their ad campaigns. Her all female team enjoys crunching data, helping women owned businesses make lots of money and smashing the patriarchy.   Here's what we covered on the episode: How I met Jennifer through our mutual friend, Sage Polaris, by doing a pair mastermind and also how we roomed/traveled together at Sage and Tarzan's Legendary Life Event Jennifer shares how she went to school for marketing and PR and always knew entrepreneurship was in the cards for her  The story behind how Jennifer got started by meeting a guy on Craigslist while she was in college, who was looking to build a visual agency and who needed an intern  How Jennifer started off as his intern in college and how they then became business partners and grew their little digital agency into a bigger company Over 4 years they built their company from just the two of them to having 20+ teams, offices in NY and Boston Jennifer realized, as the company had grown, the culture completely changed into a total Boy's Club, where it was glorified to come in early and stay super late How Jennifer had the idea that she could make just as much, if not more money without working so hard and having to hustle all the time  How at the end of 2014, Jennifer left the company to do what she had been doing with a partner, on her own- without the pushing yourself until your dead work, which is where she is now Jennifer explains how an ad by itself doesn't do anything, it will only work as well as the system behind it works Why ads have to be backed with a great sales page, webpage, etc in order to convert How just because your ad is pretty, doesn't mean it will work and how you should focus on creating an ad that yields your desired end result  Why there is no need to treat Facebook Ads as its own thing, and how all of the same basic marketing concepts apply How Facebook Ads is just a source of traffic and it's only as powerful as the funnel, foundation and additional touch points that go with it How investing in yourself and making yourself feel good will help your business flourish  Jennifer speaks her truth and explains how she lives unapologetically extra and  what “the work is feeling good” means to her and how she lives her life the way she does How knowing what works for you and what makes you feel good is really important, because it's not the same for everyone  One big takeaway Jennifer got from doing Denise's Money Bootcamp in 2014 was the idea that you have to first have money in order to live abundantly and live in luxury is completely backwards  Jennifer shares the story of how she started off small with incorporating abundance, luxury and first class in her life One tip that Jennifer learned from Denise is to change all your passwords to your next income goal so it's a constant reminder and that way you can wrap your mind around it the more you see it  The biggest tip Jennifer says is going back to the work is feeling good, and embodying that person now because there's nothing you can't do if you start becoming the match to the thing you want and the money you want to make  When you become the thing, or that person, the universe literally has no other choice than to give you what you want  How for most of history women have been trained to put their needs second and that's why it's important to live unapologetically extra and embrace what makes you feel good  Jennifer explains how having this lifestyle isn't just for her, it's for the people around her and for the world    Connect with Jennifer on Facebook or on her website  Links mentioned Jennifer's Website    Connect with Jennifer on Facebook   Connect with Jennifer on Instagram    Money Bootcamp with Denise Duffield-Thomas Like what you heard?  Click here to subscribe + leave a review on iTunes. Real life update from me. First, I wanna say thank you for continuing to listen to this podcast, showing up in my community, emailing me, and all the things. This whole "put yourself out there and help people thing" can be nerve-wracking, but I'm so grateful for your support! I also have received a ton of inquiries from designers who didn't know if Conversion Design School™ was for them, and who just wanted to work with me privately - so if you're interested, send me a DM on Instagram over @melissaburkheimer. Slowing Down + Integrating I've been promoting, creating content, delivering, updating, coaching, researching and doing all the things for this new program I created called Conversion Design School™. So pretty much a non-stop hustle mode since October of last year, and I'm taking this week and February to slow down, finish sales pages I'm working on, mentor the students in Conversion Design School™ and those in my VIP mastermind, teach a few college classes, update my website, and explore who my next hire should be. And yes, for me that is slowing down. :) I'm also going to the gym more, sleeping more, writing down my goals every day, meditating, slow walking with Andy, seeing my chiropractor, and making my mind and body a major priority this year. We received some sad news in my family, which prompted me to get my butt in gear. I'm not going to talk about it on the podcast I decided but if you're curious, send me a DM on Instagram and I'm happy to talk about it. And as Kate Northrup says, Body first, Business second. I've been connecting with designers all over the world these last few months on my Designer Business Classes, in my FB group, and via Instagram DM. Most of the classes I teach like that are live, so it's a joy to actually talk to designers live and hear their stories and help them get to the next level. One question that stood out to me in a conversation in my free community was about choosing a direction, and then feeling guilty for choosing one and not acknowledging the other things you want to do. How I created Conversion Design School™ (The Story + Timeline) I've also been getting a lot of questions about how I got the idea and then created Conversion Design School™, and I thought I'd share how it started, and how you can choose a new business direction and bring it to life. After 2 years of freelance designing for pretty much anyone locally who would pay me, I came across a webinar someone Tweeted that Amy Porterfield was hosting. I signed up. That next year (it was 2013) I bought from peeps like Melanie Duncan, Amy Porterfield, Marie Forleo, Erika Lyremark and Elizabeth DiAlto because I was totally fascinated with how they marketed themselves. Amy Porterfield's program was a FB Marketing Lab, and she liked my FB page. I thought I was sooooo cool, so I shared a photo of her liking my page on social media. A dude named Sean Malarkey liked that photo. I sent a FB friend request with no other intention. Fast forward about 6 months, he posted on FB that he needed a graphic designer. I raised my hand, and got 1 of 2 available gigs. That gig was a sales page for Amy Porterfield's FBInfluence. Sean was behind-the-scenes of people like Amy Porterfield, Lewis Howes and James Wedmore in launching their courses back in the early 2010's. Two months later, James Wedmore hired me to help him with sales pages when I raised my hand for a hot seat on one of the coaching calls in a monthly membership program he had. My problem for the hot seat: “I'm working with clients who pay me when they need work, but now I'm working on this sales page. Should I fire my other clients?" I was then referred to everyone in James's rolodex, and then he hired me to manage his launches. I didn't know project management was a skill (I thought everyone wanted to plan their life on Friday nights. It turns out they don't.) With no marketing and no sales page for my new sales page design service, I stayed busy doing sales pages. My clients loved me because my designs were beautiful but also focused on getting the conversion, fitting into the customer journey, because I did what I said I was going to. I made their life easy. Managing launches and creating sales pages came naturally to me, and I realized that thought leaders like James and Amy were hella focused on seeing success with their launches, not stressing about their brand design. Fast forward to 2019, I was running my own launches, mentoring designers, and had launched a podcast for designers. When I was interviewed on another podcast for designers in February 2019, it ended up being all about conversion design, and that's when I knew I had to create a program showing businesses how to build designs focuses on data, customer experience, the conversion and top-notch UX. People begged me for years to create a sales page course, but I refused because I knew I couldn't just teach about sales page design. Conversion Design School™ was created as a result of that podcast, my experience, people begging me for a course, and me interviewing Erika Lyremark on my podcast. Erika came on my podcast cause I was invited to pitch someone for a branding project who had been on The Oprah Show. I didn't get that gig. I finished Erika's program on September 13, 2019, launched Conversion Design School™ in October 2019, and the rest is history. Funny thing, while I was building/launching Conversion Design School™, Sean came back to me 6 years later and asked me to build him another sales page. Throughout this last year I've gotten really clear about what direction I want to take, and it's taken years of practice, yucky clients, amazing clients, projects that wow'ed, and commitment to get here. When you know which direction you want to take, it's easy to choose your next step. Pivot to January 2020. I was tagged in a post in a local FB group for marketers for a freelance design project. I was the first one tagged - and sent over a proposal, despite it being completely out of scope for what I WANT to do. And, in the inquiry process, the client (which is a credit union) mentioned several times they had a limited budget. (Eye roll.) I did not get the project. Just another sign that I'm going in the right direction, and the higher powers (whatever you believe) took care of it for me. Decide what you want. It will come your way. Here are 5 things you can do to jumpstart your design business and pick your new direction today. 1. Make a list of ALL the things you want to do. Everything. Just put it somewhere so it's written down and out of your brain. Circle the top 3-5 that seem doable or are in your heart. Then, narrow it down again. You may need to take a break during this process. And that's okay. Pick 1-2. 2. Declutter your life as much as possible. Clean up your computer files. Google Drive. Your closet. Your fridge. Your entry way. Your desk. Your car. Everything. You may be wondering why. Every mindset course I've ever taken (there are a lot) has you declutter as a first step for every level of clear growth. We're just creating space for new awesomeness in your life. 3. Create a plan to start this new thing. Give yourself plenty of time to get it done. It took me 9 or so months to actually birth Conversion Design School™, and I'll probably be working on selling it a lot this year. I like to give myself 90 days to complete a new goal. Break it down into 4 phases: 1. Offer creation 2. Offer testing 3. Offer delivery/feedback 4. Offer update Decide if you need to hire someone to help you. I took Erika Lyremark's TripleXpert program in late fall of 2019, and I'm in it again to create a new offer. I have a lot of students in Conversion Design School™ not sure how to choose a direction, so I added a bonus call with me today to help them choose. If you want extra support from me, send me a DM and we can talk about a few opportunities available for us to work together. 4. Take some time to debrief or as my friend Sage Polaris says, integrate. This week I'm measuring my results from my last Conversion Design School™ promo to see the best strategy for launching it again. One thing I know for sure is that it's going to be huge, but I want my next promo to be more spacious. And again, if you wanted to explore working with me privately this year, and if you're interested, send me a DM on Instagram over @melissaburkheimer. And if you wanna be brave, send me a DM on Instagram over at Melissa Burkheimer and tell me what you learned from this episode or even just what your new direction is! I'm rooting for you!

My guest for episode 12 of the Women of Woo Show is Sage Polaris. Sage, formerly Sarah Grear, is a copywriter extraordinaire who helps businesses sell more of what they offer through the power of words on their websites.  Learn the story behind Sage's name change as she shares her thoughts around defining her identity with regards to her creativity.  (Pay attention or you'll miss a little known fact about how my name is not what it seems!) Sage gets vulnerable and reveals how she struggled to replicate the wins she easily achieved for clients in her own business. It was from this frustration her new identity was conceived. A ‘rebirth' of sorts that allowed her to feel seen in an entirely different fashion.  Listen as we chat about business as creative art (and why hiding behind old paradigms isn't the answer), how a misunderstanding once resulted in 1.25 million dollars in sales, and the power of personal relationships over big! numbers!   I adore Sage because she's an amazing example of balance between masculine and feminine energies. She brings this perspective to episode 12 and reminds us all we can define ourselves as WOO and still pay close attention to the hard data behind our ventures. These two combined how spiritual entrepreneurs uplift themselves in business.
