When you are on the spiritual path, things are supposed to feel great, right? Everything is rainbows and butterflies and gets better so long as you walk toward yourself, right? Well, not exactly. What do Harry Potter, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Percy Jackson, and half of the cast of X-Men the original cartoon have in common? They are all tweens and teens who are in the process of discovering + figuring out their 'extra' abilities. Guess what? There really is something to this. This podcast is a deep dive on the sacred story of the land we call USA. This, along with the article that accompanies it bring together threads of what we do not often hear but that are important to understanding a) what is so special and unique about it as well as b) some of the challenges we face here as a result of some of these unattended to metaphysical matters. This year, we have been celebrating USA Pluto return. A big part of my work has been to identify energetic factors that were influencing the land, not necessarily only as it became USA, but also, before that. In my journeys I have discovered that the rich story pre-settlement has a huge bearing on our energetic context today. Energy does not act in a vacuum. What came before intermingles with what exists today. What came before is part of why it feels so high stakes here, today. Part of why the land can be energetically confusing is that we are disciplined to think of the time around colonial encounter and post, but not as much the thousands of years prior. All of it comes together to form a very interesting part of the story, which is why I come forward to tell it today. Not from America? You will still probably find this interesting. Things like how civilizations overlap, the way that sacred sites maintain energy, and what happens when they fall out of care apply to the entire planet. Many of us experienced a ‘rut' in our lives. They can come about for a plethora of reasons ranging from we have been doing too much of the same thing for too long all the way to we have been in stressful situations that have taken their toll on us. They do not always come about because we messed up. If you are in a rut, it is important that you are kind to and forgive yourself. As I say in the podcast, having a sense of humour also helps. A rut (aka a funk) can be understood as either a ‘pile up' or a stagnancy of energy in our lives. It is common for a person to not even be aware one is happening until they are in the middle of it. If this is you, do not feel poorly. It happens to the best of us. Myself included. Where we are at astrologically, it is the 'season' where a lot of people are feeling inspired to recognize and shift out of their ruts. You may be in a rut (or have recently been) if you have passed through one of these stages. ‘Denial: (what do you mean? There is no funk or rut. Everything is great. I am putting my head in my hood and keeping it moving. Resistance: oh no, there is something going on here and I think I may need to do something about it but I am so busy and having a hard time committing to it. This seems hard or out of reach. Acceptance: Ok. I can do this. I am ready. Once we get to that part, it A lot of people who come here to this podcast are probably at the ready part. Click play to hear what I have to say about it. As I was working on getting out of my fitness rut, I kept thinking. Wow. Did you happen to clock that we are walking into our last quarter before we are at our 10 year December 21, 2012 anniversary? Well, let me inform you. This is where we are at. This September Equinox and December solstice package is going to be a doozy! Doing dual duty with the wrap up of our 2012-2022 test phase AND representing the beginning of another much bigger wave, these two turning of the seasons are worth noting. In this instalment, I get us grounded in remembering what 2012 was about. More importantly, I talk about how our current cosmic moment packs infinitely way more punch than that moment did. You see, back then we got rocked out of a rut. Now, we have had a decade to test things out. As the sun, cosmic rays, and planetary activities naturally meet their connection points, we are about to experience the equivalent of a very large cosmic spark. (If you ask Venus, it has already begun.) Final Quarter Before Decade 2012 Celebration (1-18:00 timestamp) We are just around the corner from September Equinox 2022. This is our ‘final quarter' before we celebrate our 10-year anniversary since 2012. This decade was an important part of the ‘turnover' phase, during which we moved from solar cycle 24 into 25 and through which we entered the transformation into the Age of Aquarius. Excitingly, the major objectives, themes, and contracts that had been created in relation to the ‘great awakening' which that moment was meant to represent have mostly played themselves out. These will be months of review, repair, wrapping up, and moving on. Just in time for another, larger wave of awakening to come in its place. YAY. Ultimately, the planet as an energy system and in its pathway of healing is progressing extremely well. In the year 2014, I made my first public appearance to you as Katie IndiCrow. My job then as it is now, is to walk the planet through these changes and to express these messages. In this segment, I talk a bit about the background of what these soul groups and projects were. Welcome back! As of Uranus going direct on January 18 (and a node switch), we have launched into our next phase of existence. We have had a major volcanic eruption and subsequent volcano that rang the earth like a bell. As the report starts off, this is creating a lot of visibility. This, in turn, brings with it the opportunity to review our lessons of the past and to move into the new epoch with the opportunity to do things differently. What kinds of things, you ask? All of it. In fact, as I explain in the forecast, February and early March bring us through a series of planetary alignments that highlight energetic connection points that we do not often get to experience. All at the same time that the big power planets Uranus and Pluto are doing their dance. What this means is that we are asking ourselves the BIG questions about society, self and other. We are seeing the weak and power points in our forms of social order. Though this podcast mentions the big picture, we nestle this conversation in the ways we reconcile this within ourselves. We stabilize on our path, and then we move forward. In this podcast, one of the main points I make is the prison of the self that many of us experienced are going to come up this month, thanks to Saturn solar conjunction, movements of Pluto and planets like Mars and Venus having such close connection. Expect the ‘opposites' and strands of the lower harmonics of energy that they became embedded with to pop up. The longstanding practices of oppression that people have been involved in will come up. I give an example a of the Witch Hunts that wracked European society. Very real categories of ideological and gender-based control were very quickly put into place. Practices like astrology and talking to the soul were labeled as ‘witchcraft' and punishable by death. The reason I bring this point forward is to give an idea of how our past comes to play on the blocks that many people face in terms of relating to their soul, accepting and feeling safe within spirituality, and the right to practice it. Even if you were not a witch, if you are European or are of European descent there is a very good chance the energy of this oppression touched your life and memory. Though not everyone will have been touched by this story, I bring it forward as an example of the deep soul healing that planetary alignments like Saturn Solar conjunction on February 4, or Uranus and the moon move conjunction and Lunar occult on the 7 will have. Well, I can’t quite believe that we’re here. After almost 6 months of the Soul Compass podcast, we’ve reached the end of the season. I'll be honest, I didn't really know what to expect when I first started this podcast, but it exceeded my expectations. I'm really grateful for the tribe, the community, and the support I’ve received along the way. Thank you so much for being part of this journey. My theme for 2019 was to simplify, and along the way I’ve learned a few valuable lessons. Yes, they’ve been hard lessons, but valuable nonetheless. I have had to let go of so much, and work on this “perfectionist” mindset that I’ve held for so long, and work on creating space for myself. How have you added value to someone’s life today? Whether it be a friend, a colleague, or a client, have you provided them with something that cost you nothing, but provided value to their life in some way. This is a noble goal. To feel like you have information to share and you can be of service to others, you first have to look inwards and assess where your strengths are. Can you be of service to others in a meaningful way? Honestly, no matter what your skillset, there is always someone that you can help in some way. There is always a way to make someone else’s day a little brighter. My guest today, Tahani Aburaneh lives and breathes this ethos. From the very moment she was born, Tahani had to overcome such adversity. She was born in a refugee camp in the Middle East, was arranged to be married at just 15 years old and was forced to move to Canada as a result. Then after 22 years of marriage, Tahani found herself dealing with a divorce and had two young kids to take care of. Instead of wallowing in self-pity and negative thoughts, Tahani learned how to hustle her butt off and has built an empire on real estate investing. She focuses on helping females achieve financial freedom and the importance of educating themselves to ensure they are never reliant on anyone other than themselves. How much coffee, is too much? The answer is remarkably different for everyone as I’m sure you’re aware. But hey, I’m not here to discuss the ins and outs of coffee consumption. That would most likely put you to sleep regardless of whether you’ve just had a cup of coffee yourself. I’m here to introduce you to one man who found he was using coffee as a crutch, had trouble sleeping properly as a result and felt he needed to drastically change his life. Shane Heath has been interested in health and wellbeing since a very young age. He researched ayurvedic medicine, trained in the martial art, Jiu-Jitsu of which his teacher also incorporated aspects of yoga and breath work, and he advocated for eating a plant-based diet. Although Shane loved the wellness industry he didn’t imagine he would ever find himself working in this space. Shane has a fine arts degree and after college found himself working in the tech industry in Silicone Valley. It wasn’t until he was invited to spend 6 months in Goa, India as an artist in residence, that his life began to transformed and he began to explore the possibilities in a new venture. As a fresh-faced college graduate, Tamara found herself at the fork in the road trying to decide between a corporate job on Wall Street, or pursuing this passion project with her parents. It wasn’t an easy choice to make, but ultimately, it came down to her asking a very important question, “What Would I Regret More?”, and the rest is history. Now in their 13th season in the jungle, Tamara has no regrets. Meditation is such a trendy thing to do these days that it is not only a staple practice for those of us in the wellness industry, but for the mainstream medical community too. In fact, it’s this intersectionality between the east and west that I find so fascinating. What’s holding you back from the things you want to achieve in life? When you first finish high school, it’s common to feel the need to go and make something of your life right away. University is the obvious and most logical choice, so you go ahead and start a degree without really thinking about what it is you want to do, or what your true passion is.You finish the degree, get the job and start climbing the corporate ladder. Before you know it, years have passed and you’ve landed a cushy job, you’re on a great income, but you feel desperately lost inside. You realise that if you don’t do something now, you’ll get too comfortable and might never take the time to figure out what you’re truly called to do. Our guest today Lindsay Alive, had this very realisation. She had the high paying job, corporate office, meeting KPI’s and kicking career goals. But one day she realised that this job, this office, and this lifestyle wasn’t for her. She needed to get out, get back to her roots and explore the inner wild and free child that she knew was within. Lindsay left her predictable, stable job to travel around the world. She discovered transformational leadership coaching when it was still in its infancy in North America and, after several years of intensive training, she launched one of the first coaching companies in Canada which is known today as Alive and Awake. Sometimes when I’m sitting at my desk and working away, I start to feel tense. Really tense. I pause and wonder why this anxiety is creeping in and when I stop to assess my body, I realise that my shoulders are scrunched up around my neck, I’m slouching and I’m clenching my jaw. My mind has wandered and I’ve been taken to a place I don’t like. I take a breath, recenter myself and start to feel the tension drifting away. This is a constant practice. To keep yourself engaged with your physical body, aligned in your mindset and assessing where your focus needs to be. Our fast-paced lives create so many opportunities for addiction to rear its ugly head. It can be difficult to recognize when we need to address it, or what the problem even is. When does a change in behavior or mindset become necessary not just to survive, but to thrive? The catalyst for change occurred for my guest, Lisa Carpenter when her husband went off to rehab. Lisa was a successful life coach, had a 6-month-old baby, two older boys and all of a sudden, her world was turned upside down. She had to stop and take a good look at why this was in her life. Lisa believes that there are no accidents and that everything is in your life for a reason. She had to ask herself how a smart woman like herself, ended up in a relationship with an addict. After a lot of soul-searching, Lisa started to understand that she herself had an addiction. She was addicted to control and was highly co-dependent. In all of Lisa’s past relationships, she was attracted to partners that needed “fixing” and had issues of low self-worth. Lisa needed a project. She thrived on it. The downside of this was that she never put herself first. Through the counseling that Lisa went through to help her husband in his healing journey, Lisa was finally dealing with her own self-worth issues. Lisa Carpenter is a successful coach for high-achievers and has been working in the field for over 20 years. Her program, Full Frontal Living encourages her clients to slow down and pay attention to how they're feeling so they can stop pushing their way through life.
