We'd love to hear from you. Send us a text! The Naked Texture Artist is a podcast where VFX/animation veterans have deep and honest conversations about their challenges and growth as working artists. Welcome to the sixth and penultimate slice from my conversation with the Dragon Lady. In this part I finally bring up the reason I wanted to talk to her: Is Myriam Catrin the world's best texture artist? Her work speaks for itself, but more than ability and talents, it is Myriam's humanity that make her one of the great and truly special artists. I am sure you will agree, when you have listened to her take on all the greatness talk. There is no sunshine without occasional darkness: Myriam shares a very personal episode, where her work broke her and how she managed to steer herself back to health again. If you want to know the innerworkings of one of the best texture artists in VFX today, the highs and the lows, Myriam shares very generously and fearlessly of her experience. Enjoy! Myriam is a fantastic artist, who's work and interests reach far beyond VFX. Toggle3D Chief Product Officer Dasha Vdovina joined Steve Darling from Proactive to share exciting news about a major update to the company's platform. Toggle3D utilizes generative AI to convert CAD files, and now, they have introduced a significant upgrade with the introduction of a new AI photo segmentation algorithm for the Toggle3D web application. Vdovina explained to Proactive that this latest feature is part of Toggle3D.ai's ongoing development efforts, aiming to enhance the efficiency and speed of the 3D texturing creative workflow. By leveraging AI-powered tools, the platform saves time and resources for both individual users and entire design teams. This new feature is the first among several AI-powered tools to be released on the platform in the coming months, exclusively available to Platform Pro users. When users upload a 3D model along with a 2D reference image, the AI algorithm segments the 2D reference into different parts, allowing users to select specific parts directly within the platform. Subsequently, the technology takes a patch from the segmented part and compares it with the pre-existing material library, automating the process of matching the 2D photo to the 3D material. The introduction of this new AI photo segmentation algorithm demonstrates Toggle3D's commitment to continuous innovation and providing advanced tools to streamline the 3D texturing workflow. By harnessing the power of AI, Toggle3D empowers designers and teams to achieve greater efficiency and accuracy in their creative processes. #proactiveinvestors #nextech3d.ai #cse #NTAR #otcqb #metaverse #toggle3d#invest #investing #investment #3Ddesign #AIplatform #ProductDesign #CADfiles #DigitalReplication #TexturingWorkflow #AItools #Efficiency #TimeSaving #MoneySaving #DesignInnovation #DesignTechnology #AIrevolution #ProductivityBoost #CreativeWorkflow #DesignTeams #MaterialLibrary #ReferencePhotos #AIsegmentation #DesignTools #DigitalTransformation #3Dmodeling #DesignInspiration #DesignTrends #DesignProcess #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

Abdelrahman Kubisi is a Character and Creature Artist at MPC. He had one of the coolest Patreons for Character Artists until he just recently shut that down. On top of that, he produced an amazing Scarlett Johansson with Jeremy Celeste at Texturing.xyz. One of the things I loved to hear is when he documents his work from 2015 and how it has improved in 2018. This video shows how solar cell efficiency is improved by wet etching the silicon wafer surface into microscopic "pyramids," so that more incident light is trapped within in the cell rather than reflected back into the air.
In part 3, you add the finishing touches like lighting, 3D text, beveling and texturing.

Lecture 10: Methods of shading and texturing are described.
Featuring: James Griffiths from Salon Blu
Texturing is the process of applying images to geometry. We look at the function of texture and how we filter texture, and then how graphics hardware has implemented texturing. We also look at texture caching and texture compression. [Note: The first part of this lecture is the remainder of the rasterization lecture, and texturing spills into the next "composition/display" lecture.]
My first ever rotoscoped animation. lackadaisical monster reading the paper. Pretty short, very happy with it. Going to extend this project to include some watercoloring and paint splatters.
This is a mistake I made with my first walk cycle. It looks like it is somewhere between a sexy saunter and a robot walk. I followed maya foundations to a T despite the fact their character is a robot, and mine is not. I thought it was pretty funny looking, and have since fixed it. I thought I should share because it makes me laugh.
This podcast is an attempt to catch up on my updates for the last month that I haven't gotten around to. I go relatively in depth about paint effects and touch on some of the rigging and modeling I had been doing since I last updated. I also discussed my idea for my second project for Film1 which is a pretty simple idea and mainly an exercise on the optical printer. Click Here to Begin the Podcast
This is an edit of my first film (shown earlier unedited) that I did in final cut. I attempted to fix some of the darkness with a brightness/contrast filter but failed miserably so I just put it back to its original colors. Unfortunately, when i was digitizing the Iris on the thing wouldn't open up anymore so this is the lightest I could get it. However, on the projector it looks substantially better. So, you'll have to excuse this crappy quality. This film was actually meant to be a lot more comedic and silly than this edit is. I went through my entire music library and Björk's "headphones" was one of the few songs that seemed to fit the footage, even though it's not what I was going for. So, this cut is kind of different than my original intent. I think it's nice though. Of course, it would be wonderful if it had it's own soundtrack. But, I'm not musically inclined and I don't know anyone who I can call at 12am who is. So this is why Björk is the music of choice. On another note, this is not what is handed in to class and I'm just doing this for fun. PS If anyone could give me some feedback either in the comments section for this podcast or VIA Email that would be wonderful!
Basically, this is my first film ever/my first claymation ever. It's totally unedited, I will probably edit it twice-- once traditionally (this will be handed in in class) and once on the computer (just shown on the podcast). That's really basically it. The assignment was to do a portrait. This is pretty obvious once you watch it. I had originally started with a structural film dealing with single frames but it evolved into this. I had some problems with the lighting, I think I didn't compensate enough for the light lost doing a single frame. Also some issues w/ the tripod moving, the plate was really screwed up.
This Podcast basically goes into detail about my first Film AND first claymation all in one. It briefly touches on my progress in computer animation (which is basically nill). There are plenty of photos from my shoot and descriptions of how I did stuff. It dicusses what to expect in my next couple of episodes as well. Click Here to Begin the Podcast
This podcast will very briefly touch on my claymation disaster in Film1, including pictures of the scrapped sculpture. After, it goes into the concept narrative for my new animation project (Feedback on this would be great!). Afterwards, it goes into a bit of modeling in maya including screencaps of my project to go along w/ the text. In a nut shell, it finishes with the modeling of my first character.Click Here to Begin the Podcast
This is a 360˚ rotation of my new character. There are some issues with this model, including the texture on the boots. I believe the reflectivity got turned up accidently. The textures in general are just a rough idea of what they will be.
Last year's final project for Computer Animation 1, "Poo Poo Pile of Love." It's about a fly who finds his true love on garbage day. It made it into pixelnation 06'. Looking back it has a number of problems, but in the alloted amount of time I did the best I could. I especially hate the transitions (white flashes). I hadn't really figured out after effects at the time. Another problem is the compression. This is my first real computer animation project- all in all I'm pretty darn proud of it.
Today's Podcast discusses my projects and the first steps I have taken to tackle them. It will introduce the two current animations that I'm working on.and the progress I have made and frustrations. In order to view the screen caps etc, Please open my Animation Pdf
