This week, the lads hop across the pond to continue excavating denim and leather. It's all about the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal! The NWOBM movement was filled with passionate bands that were poised to take over the world. Unfortunately, most of them didn't make it to the level of Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, or Saxon. Hopefully, we can help spread the word and sounds for those who didn't. What's this InObscuria thing? We're a podcast that exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. This week we discuss the LOST. For such a small island, they sure had a lot of amazing bands that set the standards for what is known as heavy metal. From the music, to the fashion, to the attitude… Over 45-years ago, these bands started an underground movement that would change hard rock and metal forever. Songs this week include: More – “Warhead” from Warhead (1981) DEMON – “Night Of The Demon” from Night Of The Demon (1981) Grim Reaper – “Run For Your Life” from See You In Hell (1983) Bronz – “Heat Of The Night” from Taken By Storm (1983) Witchfynde – “Give ‘Em Hell” from Give ‘Em Hell(1980) Marseille – “Rock You Tonight” from Marseille (1979) Aragorn – “Black Ice” from The Neat Singles Collection Vol. 1 (1981) Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!:InObscuria Store Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/ https://www.facebook.com/InObscuria https://x.com/inobscuria https://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/ Check out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/ If you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/ If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/
“That's the buzz word: every time somebody says, ‘tipping point', you must drink…” Whether it's measured by a string of commercially successful albums or one's own personal preference, almost every metal band has (at a minimum) produced a TRILOGY of albums that represent a three-album run of back-to-back-to-back awesomeness. “That's the law, man…it's gotta be three…rules is rules.” Granted, we're all very well aware that some bands have far exceeded such a phenomenal feat THRICE in a row. But to keep things fair, we limited our parameters to the perfect TRIFECTA of albums representing a band's turkey, hat trick, or as we refer to it here at Bunkerpoon Palace, “the power threesome of perfection”. “It's a quadraplatic-ogy…” When in doubt, remember that “y'all should be more like Paul” and keep in mind that you “can't say that word!” because “all therapists are gonna be upset”. Ozzy Osbournen ja Ronnie James Dion laulettua Black Sabbathin keulahahmoina, 1980-luvun alussa bändille koitti vaikea aikakausi. Sitä kutsutaan nimellä ”Lost Years”, hämärät vuodet. De Loodzware Jongens on tour @ Rockparty of the YearAfgelopen zaterdag waren De Loodzware Jongens te gast bij dé Rockparty of the Year in een uitverkochte Boerderij Zoetermeer.

SeanGeek and FastFretFingers are joined by Tim Durling—author, podcaster, and fellow Maritimes native—for a wide-ranging conversation that blends podcasting, music history, and the ever-changing relationship between creativity and technology. The episode kicks off with shared Maritimes and Acadian roots, recording setups, and the small-world podcast connections that brought Tim onto the show. From there, the discussion moves into podcasting strategy, including YouTube's RSS distribution, audience growth, and why casual, conversational interviews often work better than rigid formats.Music takes center stage as Tim digs into his deep knowledge of classic rock, touching on Rush and Triumph reunion news, KISS concert myths, Whitesnake's evolving sound, and why certain 80s bands endured while others disappeared. The conversation also wrestles with the impact of grunge on rock music in the 1990s, oversaturation in the hair-metal era, and the recurring cycle of musical trends. The group explores originality versus formulaic music, modern radio, and whether today's hyper-polished sound will eventually collapse like past genre bubbles. Tim brings a radio professional's perspective, balancing skepticism with optimism about authentic artists still breaking through. The episode wraps with Tim's journey as an author, including his unexpected deep dive into 8-track tapes, successful Kickstarter publishing, and his growing catalog of album-by-album rock books, from Y&T to his current Fleetwood Mac project.Linktree: https://linktr.ee/seangeekpodcastPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/c/meetthegeeksWe are a part of the Boneless Podcast Network: https://boneless-catalogue-player.lovable.app/Merch: Tee Public: https://www.teepublic.com/seangeekpodcastRed Bubble: https://www.redbubble.com/people/seangeekpodcast/shop@seangeekpodcast on Twitter, Instagram and FacebookMentioned in this episode:New Merch AdAn ad that incorporates Red Bubble and Tee Public

BEYOND PURPLE performs a showcase of the biggest hits from Deep Purple and Whitesnake, as well as Rainbow and Dio; all born out of the Deep Purple family tree. The band faithfully re-creates the vivid experience of live, high-energy music from what many consider to be Rock's greatest era. Beyond Purple consists of elite musicians with national ties, including guitarist Jimi Bell (Autograph, House of Lords); his amazing skills and prowess on guitar are truly world class. Mike Gill (Livesay, Johnny A.) is the lead voice of the band, with powerful soaring vocals in the style of Ian Gillan, David Coverdale, Graham Bonnet, Joe Lynn Turner, and Ronnie James Dio. His energetic stage presence brings every song to life. Drummer BJ Zampa (Dokken, House of Lords) pounds out thunderous beats with a huge groove that locks in the band on every note; he also contributes harmony vocals. Bassist Brian Camilleri rounds out the rhythm section, laying down the low-end thunder and locking in with BJ, to create a solid musical foundation. Welcome Gary Fox Jr. on keyboards and backing vocals, a long standing member of legendary Led Zeppelin tribute “Physical Graffiti”. His talent is beyond amazing. Their high energy show fully engages the crowd, with accurate song renditions that capture the raw energy and power that has made this style of music one of the most popular of all time. For info:https://www.beyondpurpleband.com/:

“Who headlined a 2012 show in France with The Darkness and Lady Starlight as openers?” That's just one of the brain-busting questions in this unforgettable episode of The Ben and Skin Show, featuring hosts Ben Rogers, Jeff “Skin” Wade, Kevin “KT” Turner, and Krystina Ray.The crew dives headfirst into Name That Headliner, a fast-paced, hilarious music trivia game that spans decades—from the Motown magic of the '60s to the indie anthems of the 2010s. Expect wild guesses, shocking reveals, and plenty of laugh-out-loud banter.Key Highlights:KT introduces the game and immediately sparks chaos with rules no one can agree on.Skin dominates early, but not before Krystina nails a surprise Coldplay clue.Legendary lineups revealed: Jethro Tull at Red Rocks, Jay-Z with DMX and Method Man, and the jaw-dropping Whitesnake show that had ZZ Top opening.Plus, the crew reminisces about concerts they'd kill to attend and drops some killer music knowledge along the way.
Whitesnake are epic and awesome. Yes, they are. "Here I Go Again" is one of the most iconic songs of the 80s, and that's not even mentioning the video. They cast a long shadow and have a very interesting story. We also have a hilarious discussion about their obviously euphemistic name. This song also has multiple versions over the decades, so be sure to check out our playlist on this one.Connect with us at tapeheadspod.com.RELATED LINKS:Our Here I Go Again playlist, on SpotifyWhitesnake, on SpotifyWhitesnake, "Here I Go Again" official video, on YouTube

On this loaded podcast Guitar legend Warren DeMartini opens up about reuniting with Stephen Pearcy to perform Ratt's iconic catalog after years away from the spotlight. He shares stories about their renewed musical partnership (which began at the M3 festival), the telepathic connection that remains intact, and his time recording covers and original material during his hiatus. He reflects on Ratt's MTV heyday, the making of classic videos like 'Round and Round,' his brief stint with Whitesnake, and his special musical bond with guitarist Carlos Cavazo. Then, Slaughter's Mark Slaughter and Dana Strum discuss their busiest touring year ever with over 50 dates. They reveal surprising statistics about their hits, with 'Fly to the Angels' reaching over 100 million views across platforms, far outpacing 'Up All Night.' The duo shares emotional stories behind their music, including how 'Fly to the Angels' once prompted a murderer's confession and they reminisce about their Vinnie Vincent Invasion days, their transition to forming Slaughter, and the tragic loss of bandmate Tim Kelly. And last but most certainly not least, Don Barnes, the sole original member of 38 Special, joins Eddie Trunk to celebrate the band's 50th anniversary. He reflects on the group's enduring success, attributing it to their truthful songwriting and consistent live performances. He also discusses their new album 'Milestone' - their first in 20 years - featuring a duet with Pat Monahan of Train and shares fascinating stories about touring with Iron Maiden, Rush, and Bon Jovi in their early days, his relationship with the Van Zant family, and how MTV helped launch their career. RUNDOWN We're in a foul mood after the Seahawks' ugly loss to the Rams, unpacking Sam Darnold's four-interception stinker, the looming backlash from "I told you so" Darnold haters, and the gut-punch of Gray Zabel's injury. Mitch unleashes a full-on rant about Greg Olsen's broadcast style ("constant blabber"), while Scott notes how different the offense looks without Tory Horton on the field. The mood finally lifts with the news that the Mariners have locked up Josh Naylor on a five-year extension, giving Seattle fans a much-needed jolt of optimism. And then some baseball outrage: Cal Raleigh narrowly finishes second in AL MVP to Aaron Judge. Mitch is joined by Brady Henderson (ESPN) and Jacson Bevens (Cigar Thoughts) to break down the Seahawks' 21–19 loss to the Rams — a game that somehow stayed close despite four interceptions from Sam Darnold and a red-zone drought. Brady calls it Darnold's first true "stinker" as a Seahawk, noting that none of the INTs were flukes, while Jacson credits a defense that "played its balls off" despite brutal field position. The trio discuss the seriousness of rookie guard Gray Zabel's knee injury, the need for Kubiak to scheme around an unstable interior line, and Darnold's growing turnover trend (now 14 on the year). Mitch welcomes back CBS College Football Analyst Rick Neuheisel, presented by Taco Time Northwest, to unpack a chaotic Week 12 in college football — starting with Rick's victory lap on his perfectly predicted Penn State cover. From there, the guys dive into a jam-packed headline wheel: Lane Kiffin's status as the hottest name on the coaching carousel (and why Rick believes he'll land at Florida), Georgia's dominance over Texas, Oklahoma's big win in Tuscaloosa, Texas A&M's shocking 30–3 comeback, and the SEC's suddenly muddled playoff picture. Mitch revisits Episode Zero — the never-meant-to-be-public "exhibition game" that quietly launched Mitch Unfiltered back in 2018. What begins as a joke about their faux–"Fool in the Rain" theme song turns into a hilarious, chaotic retelling of the infamous team-bus-fire in Auburn, complete with blown tires, smoke pouring into the cabin, players stampeding into a ditch, and the bus erupting in flames seconds after everyone escaped. A full-throated and totally sincere congratulations to the 2025 inductees into the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame. Great job not being in the heavy metal genre! Let's face it, the rock hall hates metal, and always has. It took some serious teeth-pulling to even get a few metal bands in the hall, and even though heavy metal is truly a cornerstone in rock n roll history, the powers that be treat it like the black sheep of the family. Get it together, rock hall! Dr. Nick Baker returns for the 3rd volume in our totally justifiable recurring series Top Ten Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame Snubs, this time with a twist. We're calling out the hall for their lack of diversity, in particular their exclusion of heavy metal. Here in Top Ten Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame Snubs - All Metal Edition Part 1, we get into the top half of our list of truly deserving honorees. Here's some metal up your ass, rock hall!Get "Labyrinthine Rose", the latest album from pop sensation Marina V, aka Nick's better half and musical partner. Great new stuff from these guys! This week we are giving a cheers to ten years! Join us as we celebrate the anniversary of the Old Smyrna Firehouse (InObscuria and Captain Content HQ). We get the inside scoop from the man himself on how this relic of a building was brought back to life to all of its firehouse glory and beyond. The building is not only Robert's home, but it is also an exhibit within the community and is utilized for private events, weddings, photoshoots, TV commercials, and feature-length films. Oh, and it's where we record the show every week! We celebrate by listening to songs that will get you fired up and leave you with a burning sensation! What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show, Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. Robert is forced to test his endurance and provide feedback, as he has no idea what he will be subjected to every week. We hope that we turn you on to something that was lost on your ears, or something you've simply forgotten about, or that (in our opinion) should have been the next big thing.Songs this week include:Warrior Soul – “Firehouse” from Cocaine & Other Good Stuff (2020)Mother's Finest – “Fire” from Mother's Finest (1976)The Front – “Fire” from The Front (1989)Mind Funk – “Fire” from Mind Funk (1991)The Music – “Fire” from Strength In Numbers (2008)Torche – “Fire” from Torche (2005)Bruce Dickinson – “Fire” from Balls To Picasso (1994)Ozzy Osbourne – “Fire” from Under Cover (2005)Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/https://x.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it: InObscuria StoreIf you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/Check out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/

Feedback is often labeled “good” or “bad,” but that binary misses the point. In this episode of Branding Room Only, Paula Edgar sits down with Rachael Bosch — founder of Fringe Professional Development and creator of Candorly — to explore why delivery matters as much as content and how consistent feedback can fuel and strengthen your personal brand.Rachael also shares her journey from Miami and the stage to law firm talent management and entrepreneurship, bringing humor, honesty, and practical insights along the way. Together, Paula and Rachael dig into authenticity as a scale (not a switch), the importance of agency in choosing environments that align with your values, and how leaders can treat feedback as data to close the gap between self-perception and how others experience them.1:25 – Rachael's view on branding, three self-descriptive words, favorite Dolly Parton quote, and musical motivation (from Whitesnake to Beyoncé)5:41 – How the melting pot of Miami and her theater background influenced Rachael's upbringing9:28 – Rachael's shift from the arts into law and professional development15:30 – Why Rachael pursued entrepreneurship and launched Fringe Professional Development19:13 – The importance (and scale) of personal branding authenticity in professional settings25:29 – The importance of agency in choosing aligned working environments31:46 – How you can demonstrate to others that you receive feedback well35:18 – Feedback as a data set that should be analyzed (especially for the historically underrepresented)37:59 – Why good and bad feedback is about the delivery, not the content40:40 – How Fringe's feedback tool Candorly works for individuals and organizations48:43 – The role of pop culture in Rachael's professional trajectory and the uncompromisable component of her brandMentioned In Beyond Good or Bad: The Feedback Framework Every Professional Needs with Rachael BoschFollow Rachael on LinkedInFringe Professional DevelopmentCandorlySign up for Paula's Upcoming WebinarsLearn More About Paula's Personal Branding Strategy Session OfferFollow & Review: Help others find the podcast.
