Digital Transformation is everywhere - and Rockwell Automation is right at the center of it.Andrew Ellis is Vice President of Rockwell's Global Portfolio Engineering division, responsible for the ecosystem of solutions developed by Rockwell Automation, their acquired brands, and their many partners across the globe. He has firsthand insight into how the digital industrial world is evolving, and along with it, the way customers seek solutions and the kinds of skills required by the digital workforce. We sat down with Andrew for a live broadcast at Rockwell Automation Fair 2022 in Chicago to discuss emerging technologies like....Emulate 3D digital twin software for modeling and commissioningRobotics integrationFactoryTalkSaaS in industrial automationSoftware in the cloud and at the edgePartnerships with companies like PLEX, Microsoft, and othersWhile new technology is exciting, it also requires a whole new set of skills, a new way of educating learners, and a new way of building relationships with customers. These are 3 key insights about the digital workforce you'll glean from our conversation with Andrew:3 Big Takeaways from this episode:Digital transformation turns discrete technologies into a fully-integrated ecosystem of hardware, software, data and people: Smart manufacturing builds on traditional automation, adding things like intelligence at the edge, software in the cloud, industrial SaaS, mobile-ready data and human-machine collaboration. Andrew shares how Rockwell and their partner network are developing and deploying this ecosystem-focused approach to industrial applications. The digital workforce needs foundational skills coupled with a STEM approach to learning: In an environment of ever-evolving technology, how do schools adequately prepare students for the workforce? Andrew argues that today's STEM-centric approach to education is the solution: students should learn basic fundamentals (like math & physics), be exposed to modern technology, and most importantly understand the applied purpose of technology (what problem does it solve?) and how people will interact with it in the industrial workforce.Upcoming generations of the digital workforce want purposeful, people-centric careers: What do today's students want out of their future career? Purpose, an opportunity to be challenged, and a place to grow - these have been the key factors for many years. But now, the next generation raised on technology also seek careers where technology and people collaborate symbiotically, a culture that aligns with their personal values, and a company that has a sustainable, responsible presence in the global economy.ResourcesTo learn more about Rockwell Automation: rockwellautomation.comConnect with Rockwell Automation on social media:Facebook | Twitter | Instagram | YouTube | LinkedInView episode page: https://techedpodcast.com/andrewellis/Instagram - Facebook - YouTube - TikTok - Twitter - LinkedIn

The Innovation Exchange, a programme that accelerates digital transformation for large multinational businesses (MNCs) by connecting them with indigenous Irish SMEs, is calling on innovative technology scale-ups to join the programme and collaborate with MNCs to help address their challenges. Created by Furthr (formerly Dublin BIC) in partnership with Skillnet Ireland, the programme has announced additional funding to meet higher-than-expected demand. The new funding comes following a successful initial phase which enabled collaboration between 200 SMEs with some of Ireland's leading corporations including Musgrave, Heineken, Ryanair, Glanbia, ESB and AXA. At ‘Innovating for the Future', an event held today to report its first six-month performance, The Innovation Exchange announced that it is to open its doors to an additional 100 digital transformation solutions providers to meet increasing demand from industry. Discussing the programmes expansion at today's event, Minister of State for Skills and Further Education, Niall Collins T.D. said: “I'm delighted to see The Innovation Exchange open its doors to a further 100 SMEs in 2022. With over 25 innovation challenges being published by some of Ireland's leading multinationals this year alone, it offers ambitious tech SMEs great opportunities for growth.” Conor Carmody, Programme Director, The Innovation Exchange, said: “The Innovation Exchange has had a strong start and the calibre of both corporates and SMEs participating has been very high. We are delighted to open applications for new technology SMEs to join the programme. We're not only looking for tried and tested digital transformation solutions, but also for the ability to collaborate with large businesses who want to put their stamp on the end solution. If you're a growing, solutions-focused SME then we would urge you to join The Innovation Exchange at a time when there are so many corporate challenges on the table.” Mark Jordan, Chief Strategy Officer, Skillnet Ireland, said: “The Innovation Exchange has made great strides in its first six months, supporting the success of both large multinationals and indigenous SMEs. We are pleased to announce today's expansion of the programme. The potential benefits to scaling companies extend way beyond signing a contract. By building the right capabilities, these firms are accessing a qualified sales pipeline and getting face time with prospective customers. I strongly encourage indigenous SMEs to consider the programme for a great opportunity to collaborate with leading multinational corporations.” Launched in February 2022, The Innovation Exchange has had a number of successful outcomes to date, including 20 SMEs that have moved to a deeper engagement with a corporate partner, with one company announcing that it has signed a paid pilot. Several other SMEs are in proof-of-concept discussions with a view to establishing a longer-term collaboration. More than 30 innovation challenges are expected to be published by large corporates for participating SMEs in 2022. The paid pilot involves Exertis, an IT services company of DCC, and The Éclair Group (now Digital Workforce), a technology scale-up that is developing innovative solutions in robotics process automation. Exertis published an innovation challenge via The Innovation Exchange in May and The Eclair Group responded proposing a solution. Following a pitch and a proof-of-concept phase, a deal was agreed to enter a paid pilot. The Innovation Exchange offers participants a range of benefits including: A qualified sales pipeline and getting face time with prospective customers. — Opportunity to pitch your solution to prospective customers. — Gaining insights into markets and companies which helps SMEs pitch their solution more successfully. — Tailor-made training designed to improve performance of SME members when selling to large corporates. — One-to-one mentoring to companies around preparing proposals, pitching to corporates...

Healthcare has dealt with staffing shortages for years, and when COVID-19 arrived, the challenges became acute. Despite significant IT investments, process efficiency benefits have been elusive because staff or patients are still required to do additional work to make the technology perform. Now, as virtual care takes hold with patients, a new “third gear” is beginning to emerge. In this episode of Digital Conversations, Greg Johnsen and Greg Kefer discuss digital patient engagement, and specifically how conversational technology takes on a new role as a digital worker that handles the communications and administrative aspects of delivering and receiving care. As armies of digital assistants become high-scale, efficient solutions that relieve overworked human teams, while simultaneously helping patients navigate to successful outcomes, we will begin to see important new KPIs emerge that measure digital engagement effectiveness.

We've got an all-star cast joining us on the show today, Ryan Malkes, Emily Dahl, and Mackenzie Rohn are here in the virtual studio to discuss their upcoming presentation “Design Thinking for Digital Workforce Experience” at the Fuel 2021 kickoff event produced by Leapgen. I was amazed at the energy and passion that they brought to our listeners, and at 8:30am in the morning. They shared a powerful message about driving empathetic action in the workplace. Not everyone has adapted to change in the same way and organizations need to implement a continuous listening strategy to best gauge how to help their employees. Empathy is a foundational element in Leapgen's work to design a human-centric experience through design thinking. They reminded us that it is not about thinking so much as it is about design doing. While “planes are grounded” right now, we can take this opportunity to act and change. Join their session this Wednesday, January 13th, to gain actionable insights and practical next steps to design a better digital workforce experience. It’s mind blowing that, in 2020, so many people are still fighting for equality. The current climate of anger and divisiveness only emphasises that fact. Unfortunately, the tech industry is no exception. The gender gap, in particular, has long been a topic of contention. And while seven out of the top 10 most gender-equal countries are in Europe, according to the WEF’s Global Gender Gap Report 2020, the UK is not one of them. Even once their expertise and dedication sees them soar to the top, female tech COOs are consistently underpaid, earning 12% less than their male equivalents. Experts say that, overall, across every industry, women may have to wait 250 years to achieve pay parity with men. That simply isn’t good enough. Women must be paid what they're worth. But this is an issue that starts as early as school, where young girls are discouraged from pursuing their passion in STEM. We talk to some of the industry’s most powerful female figures about their experience as a woman in tech, laying out a blueprint for breaking the bro barrier and inspiring a female digital workforce. The tech industry in the North West is growing at a stratospheric pace. The region is the largest tech cluster outside of London but its talent pipeline is struggling to keep up with demand. To help keep up with demand Greater Manchester's Combined Authority have joined up with the Department of Culture Media and Sport to launch an innovative £3 million Fast Track Digital Fund. Its purpose is to accelerate technical learning for Manchester residents to allow them to enter the digital workforce for the first time. They seek out non-traditional organisations and business partnerships to deliver employer-led training to fill some of those gaps. Out of this the Tech Equity Consortium was born. Zainab Yazdani, Natalie Bird and Raji Kolluru are benefactors of the fund on the Tech Equity course being delivered by TAP Project, Heroworx, UKFast and Tech Manchester. --- Przydatne linki ---Strona www Digital Workforce - https://digitalworkforce.com/pl/strona-tytulowa/
A digital workforce is useless without a plan. Delphine Bernard discusses the steps it takes to make sure your AI is working for you. She stresses the importance of a solid planning phase. During this time, an enterprise should be answering questions such as, what do I want my bots to do? What processes do I want to automate? Next, simulate scenarios with KPIs and ROI. Make sure to have backups in place if bots fail. Delphine outlines the importance of building a strong digital workforce before going live, because, unlike humans, bots can’t adapt on the fly if something goes wrong. Still, it’s worth the effort, as Delphine also notes.

In the summer of 2017, a group of political activists in the UK figured out how to use Tinder to attract new supporters. They understood how the platform worked and how its users tended to use the app. Most importantly, they understood how Tinder’s algorithms distributed content, so they built a bot to automate flirty exchanges with real people. Over time, those flirty conversations turned to politics—and to the strengths of the U.K.’s Labour Party. The bot would take over a Tinder profile owned by a user sympathetic to the Labour party who agreed to the temporary repurposing of the account. The bot then sent roughly 40,000 messages, targeting 18- to 25-year-olds where the Labour candidates were running in tight races. While it is impossible to know if any voters were actually swayed by this campaign, what cannot be denied are the results of the election. In several targeted districts, the Labour Party won in tight races. As part of their victory celebrations… some of the winners gave Twitter shoutouts to the Tinder election bot. (This information is courtesy of Philip N. Howard and his article How Political Campaigns Weaponize Social Media Botsfrom IEEE Spectrum; October, 2018) Here’s the thing though… not all Bots are the same. In fact, not unlike most things in the world, the overwhelming amount of Bots perform important, yet perhaps tedious functions that allow people to focus on high-level assignments that truly support agency missions and outcomes. However, automation is not solely about offloading mundane tasks from humans. Instead, this type of technology creates an environment in which humans and technology not only collaborate to accelerate workflow processes but also speeds up decision-making. In this episode of the InSecurity Podcast, Matt Stephenson sits down with Ron Jones, Head of Solutions Architecture at Blue Prism. Ron is a builder of Robotic Process Automation. A mouthful right? You may know them as “Bots” and they are one of the most misunderstood pieces of technology around. Stick around and Ron will help you understand them a little better. About Ron Jones Ron Jones (@rgjSP) is an experienced leader specializing in enterprise technology strategy and consulting for the public sector. Ron currently serves North American Public Sector organizations implementing Blue Prism, the world’s most scalable, secure, and proven intelligent automation platform. About Blue Prism Blue Prism (@blue_prism) pioneered Robotic Process Automation (RPA), emerging as the trusted and secure intelligent automation choice for the Fortune 500 and the public sector. Adam Taylor discusses the massive changes to our workforce as result of the fourth industrial revolution and changing expectations, the role intelligent automation will play in operating models and five critical steps to help businesses avoid the pitfalls of automation.
The robots are coming and they will make low-grade, tedious jobs redundant, that's a given by now. Guy Clapperton's interviewees this week, James Ewing of Digital Workforce and Oleg Rogynsky of People.ai, welcome the prospect - but they are concerned there needs to be regulations and at this stage the nearest we have come from Isaac Asimov (which is fine and people keep quoting it but as Guy points out, that's actually a work of fiction). This episode looks at ethics, regulation and just how intelligent robotic process automation (RPA) is becoming. If you enjoy the episode, please do leave a review somewhere - and please note I'm taking a summer break like the rest of the world, the Near Futurist podcast will return on 30 August.
Episode 212: Barry Mitchell, Global Leader for IBM’s Digital Workforce, discusses the "Hybrid Workforce" where humans and smart machines work together. This may seem like a futuristic notion, but Artificial Intelligence and automated computer bots are already working right alongside human workers today. The implications for the future...and the future of work...are important. Listen for three action items you can use today. "There is now an RPA solution for everyone's needs. The barriers have dropped. You can start from free. Money isn't an issue." We conclude our November 2018 focus on Robotic Process Automation by talking to RPA expert and author Rob King. He shares his insights based on over 25 years experience as a lean business process and efficiency innovator, a 6 Sigma trainer and Master BlackBelt. ABOUT OUR GUEST: Through his UK-based company Wzard Innovations, he's not only a widely respected Robotic Process Automation (RPA) expert but has recently become an author of new book "Digital Workforce". Rob also works extensively with the RPA Academy. WE DISCUSS: Why RPA = US$3billion...and growing. Jargon-Busting: what's "robotics" got to do with it all? The scale of the opportunities ahead for the accounting and finance profession. What does it practically mean for a business, hands-on? Why is it actually a good idea? What are some practical steps to get started with RPA? First Segment: Novatio Solutions. Gokul Solai, CEO. Artificial Intelligence is already infiltrating our lives on a consumer level (Siri, Alexa, etc.) by performing menial tasks that add marginal value. Some businesses are already using AI symbiotically alongside humans to tackle real threats (for example, Facebook using AI to comb through posts for ‘at risk’ behavior), but beyond the glamour applications, there is a real shift occurring in the workforce where humans and ‘robots’ are collaborating. Second Segment: Computer and Technology News Computer America goes out in search of the latest Tech news of the day. Note, we will be covering Apple tomorrow with Sandy Berger. Andrew Wilson is the Chief Information Officer at Accenture. He leads the company’s global IT operations, where his work helps Accenture enable businesses with increasingly advanced technology. Andrew also aids all of Accenture’s 400,000 workers (this includes guest and contract workers) by making sure all of the technology is running, keeping them connected, productive, and happy as well. Post- Millennial digital services, such as Facebook, YouTube, and Snapchat, has set the bar on what Enterprise services must deliver for their employees and customers. Legacy technologies, such as email, are still being used, but are not the focus as the digital experience grows. Accenture offers their own report on the state of technology industry and what it means for enterprises. This is released in an annual report called Technology Vision Report. Building and elaborating on prior year reports, new major themes and trends are brought to focus. Enterprises can navigate this report and apply new technologies to their businesses to get a leading edge in technologies ever changing landscape. The prospect of what can be accomplished digitally is changing because technology has a greater range into our lives than it ever has before. Digital is everywhere, it is pervasive. Andrew is working on creating platforms that mirror our current social media platforms, integrating new technologies such as adding holograms. There are new ways to train, deliver content, even finding your way around through an organization. Not adapting to these new ways of work can cause organizations to become irrelevant. What you will learn in this episode: What is the digital worker? Facebook and Snapchat – How and why people like Andrew are focusing on social technologies The digital culture shock The 2016 Technology Vision Report How Accenture digital worker internally The importance of employee experience in today's workplace Links From The Episode: Technology Vision 2016 Andrew Wilson on Twitter (Music by Ronald Jenkees)
