Today's episode is diving into how we can support our bodies and gut to produce the natural GLP-1 that is supposed to be there and the benefits no one is talking about. Our bodies were made perfect, we just need to remind them and activate the right systems to do what they were designed to do. Just like a car, the car doesn't move in the right direction without the assistance of the driver. That is our body, it knows what to do but it needs our assistance in telling in what to do and when to do that. Today I am going to dive into how we can instruct our bodies to produce the natural GLP-1 for optimal digestion, a healthy gut and glowing skin. In this solo episode, I'm diving into the topic of staying grounded during election season. With tensions running high and the stakes feeling bigger than ever, it's so easy to get caught up in the stress and anxiety of it all. I'll be sharing some practical, compassionate strategies for protecting your peace—like setting limits on media, grounding yourself in daily practices, and creating a “reset” routine for those moments when emotions run high. And here's the reminder I'm bringing: no matter the outcome, you hold the reins over your own life. This election may shape the nation, but it doesn't define your personal path. In this week's show we have a short testimonial from my man Warrell. Warrell recently graduated from The Detox Blueprint Program and couldn't be happier. Warrell was on a mission to level up personally and professionally. Despite all his research into detoxing, he was stuck in information overload, exhausted mentally and physically. Sleepless nights, acne, and antibiotics had become his norm. We focused on gut health, water, food quality, and detox pathways. This helped him cut back on meds, and his energy and focus transformed. His story shows the power of removing toxins and letting the body heal itself. Transformations like this are available to anyone ready to take control and do the work. ⏯️ Check out my latest Masterclass: How To Go From Sick To Superman (Masterclass)

From understanding the importance of cleansing routines to selecting the right over-the-counter treatments, we'll guide you through the basics of skincare that can make a big difference. Tune in to learn how to tackle common triggers like excess oil, clogged pores, and inflammation, while also debunking popular acne myths that could be holding you back from clearer skin. Whether you're dealing with breakouts or want to prevent them, this episode is your starting point! Please find out detailed show notes below Acne BasicsAcne is the most common skin disorder in North America, affecting 85% of teenagers.Pimples form when skin cells block a hair follicle. This is made worse by oil (sebum) production and bacteria on the skin.Acne SeverityAcne can range from mild to moderate to severe.At-home treatments can usually handle mild acne. Moderate and severe acne usually require prescription medications from a primary care doctor or dermatologist.Acne Treatment LayersHygiene: Wash your face no more than two times a day with a gentle, non-soap cleanser and warm water. Don't use washcloths or loofahs.Moisturization: Use a non-comedogenic moisturizer, especially if other treatments dry out your skin.Sun Protection: Protect your skin from the sun with sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher) or protective clothing. Too much sun can worsen acne and age your skin.Over-the-Counter Treatments for Mild AcneTopical Retinoids: Adapalene 0.1% gel is the only topical retinoid available over the counter in the US.Apply a thin layer to the entire affected area (don't spot treat) once a day, usually at night. Start every other night to reduce irritation, working up to every night over a few weeks.Use a pea-sized amount for the entire face and make sure your skin is dry.Don't use with benzoyl peroxide.Benzoyl Peroxide: Comes in cleansers, gels, lotions, creams, pads, masks, and washes. Concentrations range from 2.5% to 10%.Apply once a day.Benzoyl peroxide can bleach fabric and hair.Salicylic Acid: A good alternative if your skin can't tolerate topical retinoids. These treatments may take up to 12 weeks to work.Combination TherapyUsing benzoyl peroxide in the morning and a retinoid at night can be effective.Sometimes topical clindamycin is used with benzoyl peroxide.Treatment for Moderate to Severe AcneFor severe or widespread acne, or acne that's causing scarring, doctors will start systemic therapy right away, instead of waiting to see if topical treatments work.Doxycycline is an antibiotic that reduces inflammation and fights bacteria.Spironolactone is a medication that can help regulate hormones.IsotretinoinImportant NotesDon't pick or squeeze pimples: This can worsen acne and may cause swelling and scarring.Be patient: It can take several weeks for treatments to show results.Talk to a doctor: If you have concerns about your acne or at-home treatments aren't working,Support the showProduction and Content: Edward Delesky, MD & Nicole Aruffo, RNArtwork: Olivia Pawlowski

It's been a while since we released a Women's Health episode, but I just HAD to share this news! If you've been a lister you KNOW I have always been self-conscious about my acne-prone skin, I'm thrilled to bring you this conversation with Rachael Green, founder of Complexions Skin Therapy. In this episode, we dive into our personal struggles with acne, the self-consciousness it brings, and the countless remedies we've tried—some of which did more harm than good. But there's hope! We discuss the Aviclear laser, a groundbreaking treatment that might just be the solution we've all been waiting for 3 treatments and no more acne, is that even possible? Tune in to hear about our journey and discover how you too can achieve clear skin and renewed confidence. 1. Practice Self-Compassion Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding that you would offer a friend. Acknowledge your unique beauty and remind yourself that everyone has imperfections. By embracing self-compassion, you can shift your focus from what you perceive as flaws to the qualities that make you uniquely you. 2. Celebrate Your Individuality Confidence comes from recognizing and celebrating what makes you unique. Instead of comparing yourself to others, highlight your strengths and personal style. Wear clothes, makeup, or accessories that make you feel empowered, and remember that your confidence shines through when you embrace who you truly are. These tips encourage self-love and self-expression, which are key to feeling confident in your own skin.

In today's episode of the Balancing Chaos Podcast, Kelley sits down with Danielle Gronich and Kayleigh Christina, the founders of CLEARSTEM Skincare. CLEARSTEM was founded in 2017 on a mission to help women clear their skin and feel confident with a radiant glow. Danielle is a Licensed Clinical Esthetician and the founder of San Diego Acne Clinic, where she channeled her own 10+ year experience with cystic acne to empower others to heal their skin from within. Working with thousands of people across all ages and ethnic backgrounds, Danielle quickly earned her reputation as The Acne Guru™ and achieved a 98% success rate in clearing patients' skin. One of these patients was Kayleigh Christina, a Certified Holistic Nutritionist who suffered her own bout of cystic acne in her mid-twenties and finally got clear through Danielle's comprehensive, whole-body approach to skin wellness. Connecting over their mutual passion for holistic health, the two dove into the clinical research together to uncover the nasty truth about conventional skincare for acne + aging: most acne products contain toxic, hormone disrupting ingredients, while products that target aging are full of pore-clogging fillers. Determined to deliver a safer, more effective alternative to traditional skincare, Kayleigh + Danielle joined forces to formulate CLEARSTEM - the first toxin-free brand that targets both acne + aging at the same time.In today's show, Danielle and Kayleigh share their insights on achieving clear skin, and they go so far beyond the things you hear on social media everyday. Together they unpack the problem with acne medications and how they can make the problem worse, facial mapping: knowing where your breakouts are and what they look like can lead to a better understanding of the root cause whether its hormonal or dietary, the right diet for clear skin, why endocrine disruptors are in so many skin care products and how they can be making your acne worse, the impact of the birth control pill on your skin and so much more.
