Loki Was Hiding in Plain Sight on the Avengers: Doomsday Poster (Ep. 22)

Jim Hill and Dan Graney examine the Avengers: Doomsday poster everyone may have looked at wrong, including a nearly hidden Loki positioned at the center of the multiverse and a newly powered-up Thor. They also discuss Marvel Comics leaving New York for Burbank, Kevin Feige's apparent Spider-Man: Brand New Day spoiler, and the increasingly wild X-Men casting rumors ahead of San Diego Comic-Con. Plus, Dan challenges the online narrative surrounding Supergirl and explains why theatrical box office may no longer tell the whole story. HIGHLIGHTS • Marvel Comics prepares to leave New York City after nearly 90 years and relocate its publishing operation to Burbank. • Stephen Wacker takes over as Marvel editor-in-chief while C.B. Cebulski shifts his focus to manga and Asian publishing projects. • Loki may be hiding in plain sight at the exact center of the Avengers: Doomsday ensemble poster. • Thor's orange lightning could signal the arrival of the Odinforce and the MCU's most powerful version of the character yet. • Andy Park's final major Marvel Studios artwork carries an unexpectedly poignant Endgame connection. • Kevin Feige may have revealed Yelena Belova's surprise appearance in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. • X-Men casting rumors intensify ahead of Marvel Studios' Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con. • Vision Quest gets an October release date, Élodie Yung returns as Elektra, and Nova reportedly evolves from a series into a feature film. • Supergirl, The Mandalorian and Grogu, and Masters of the Universe raise bigger questions about online negativity, streaming strategy, and how studios now measure success. 874 · The Walt Disney World Time Capsule - What Would You Put in the Box?It is 2076. Someone digs up a sealed time capsule in Walt Disney World. What did we choose to leave them? This week on WDW Radio, we build a Walt Disney World time capsule - a snapshot of the parks exactly as they exist in 2026. And there is one rule attached to it that changes every single answer. One attraction. One resort. One song. One snack. One smell. One sound. One price. More than a dozen categories in all, spanning Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney's Hollywood Studios and Disney's Animal Kingdom, and the Walt Disney World resorts - and none of them are as easy as they sound.Along the way: the real time capsules Disney has already buried at Disneyland and Walt Disney World, and the wonderfully surprising things they chose to seal inside them. The pick that broke the rule in the very first category. And the one thing we each wanted to make sure went in that box, no matter what.Plus a final item that is not an object at all.So what would you put in the box? Call the voicemail and tell me, and I will play your answers on a future show.

Which onboard restaurant would we bring to land, and what Disney Cruise tradition do we think gets a little too much hype? Once a card is drawn, there's no backing out—we have to give a clear answer and defend it, even if it sparks a debate. While we've personally sailed the Disney Magic, Disney Wish and the Disney Destiny, this episode celebrates the entire Disney Cruise Line fleet. Whether you've sailed once, sailed them all, or are dreaming about your very first Disney cruise, you'll find plenty of fun conversations, surprising opinions, and maybe even a few ideas for planning your next adventure at sea. It's the question every parent asks: "How old should my kids be before we take them to Disney World?" This week on Mouse Chat, we tackle it head-on. There's no single magic number — but there ARE ages and stages that make the trip smoother, more magical, and more worth the money. We talk through the real trade-offs at every stage: the baby and toddler years (naps, strollers, and "will they even remember it?"), the sweet spot of the preschool and early-elementary years when the magic hits hardest, the tween and teen years when thrill rides and independence change the whole trip, and the truth about multi-generational trips with a big age range in the group. We share what we've learned from our own family, honest tips on Rider Switch, height requirements, park pacing, best times of year to go with little ones, and how to plan a trip that actually matches your kids' ages instead of fighting against them. Bottom line: the "best age" is really about planning the right trip for the kids you have right now — and that's exactly what we love helping families do. Thanks for listening! If this helped, subscribe to Mouse Chat and leave us a review — it means the world and helps other families find the show.

Join us for episode 495 of the Theme Park Trader Podcast! Guests DESTROY Beak and Barrel & BaseLine Tap House in this week's episode of Theme Park Trader! But first — is table service dining dying at Walt Disney World? With guests now dropping serious money on Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Premier Pass before they even step through the gates, more and more visitors are skipping sit-down restaurants altogether. So is Disney's answer to grab those lost guest dollars... bars and lounges? We dig into why spots like The Beak and Barrel and BaseLine Tap House might be exactly where Disney wants you spending instead — lower commitment than a two-hour ADR, no huge kitchen overhead, and premium-priced drinks with a themed backdrop. Then it's time for the main event: we read the most BRUTAL guest reviews of Magic Kingdom's pirate lounge The Beak and Barrel and Hollywood Studios' BaseLine Tap House. From "a tavern full of disappointment" to complaints about pricing, portions, queues and theming that didn't live up to the hype — nobody is safe. Do you agree with the reviews? Have you visited either lounge? Let us know in the comments!

The Florida weather tried to run the show, but we still pulled off a packed Walt Disney World parks trip with plenty of snacks, storms, and hard-earned tips. Five parks. Three days. Were we crazy, lucky, or smart? Yes.We start with the pre-cruise stretch: checking into Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, hopping to EPCOT, and attempting the classic “drinking around the world” challenge in World Showcase while thunder and rain keep forcing us indoors at exactly the right moments. We also share one of our favorite adult breaks at EPCOT: Geo-82, the 21+ lounge inside Spaceship Earth, plus what it's like riding Ratatouille now that the 3D is gone and how Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind hits when you catch a new song. Italy becomes our accidental home base again, and yes, we have thoughts about how easy it is to “get stuck” there once the snacks and drinks start rolling. Then we splurge at Hollywood Studios with Lightning Lane Premiere Pass and explain how it works, what it costs, and why it felt like a true game changer for doing the park in a few hours without living on our phones. After a Disney Springs errand run, we got swept away at DVC's Moonlight Magic at Typhoon Lagoon.Post-cruise, we go full bucket list with a Polynesian Bora Bora bungalow stay, Trader Sam's, and July 4 fireworks from the deck. We wrap the trip with  what was supposed to be a relaxing day, but turned into Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom highlights, including Nomad Lounge, a minivan pro tip, Tron, the Beak and Barrel pirate bar, and ride updates like a smoother Big Thunder and a refreshed Buzz Lightyear.Subscribe, share this with your Disney parks planning crew, and leave a rating and review so more Disney fans can find us. Jim Hill and Eric Hersey cover the latest Universal Orlando Resort news before digging into a surprisingly rich piece of Universal Studios Hollywood history: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe briefly taking over the upper lot during the 1985 holiday season. They start with Fourth of July offerings at Epic Universe, Universal Studios Florida, CityWalk, and Bar 17 Bistro, then look at Illumination's box-office track record, Epic Universe guest surveys, and how Universal is comparing itself against Disney. The featured story traces He-Man's Conan-inspired roots, Mattel's toy-driven rise, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade connection, and why Masters of the Universe has never quite found a permanent theme park home. NEWS • Universal Orlando's Fourth of July plans included patriotic stilt walkers, fireworks at Epic Universe, lagoon entertainment at Universal Studios Florida, and family-friendly festivities at CityWalk. • Jim highlights Bar 17 Bistro at Aventura Hotel as one of the best rooftop spots for seeing fireworks across Central Florida. • Minions and Monsters opens the discussion of Illumination's reliable box-office machine and the studio's next wave of films, including Sing 3, The Secret Life of Pets 3, and Not Alone. • Eric shares new Epic Universe survey questions about park hours, nighttime entertainment, guest satisfaction, and whether visitors leave for other Orlando-area options. • Jim and Eric discuss why How to Train Your Dragon - Isle of Berk has become a new themed entertainment benchmark, and how Disney's upcoming Villains Land may be compared against it. FEATURE • The feature begins with old photos of He-Man, Skeletor, Orko, She-Ra, and other Masters of the Universe characters appearing at Universal Studios Hollywood. • Jim and Eric trace the sword-and-sorcery path from Robert E. Howard's Conan stories to Universal's Conan the Barbarian films and the long-running Adventures of Conan stage show. • Eric explains how Mattel's abandoned Conan toy plans helped lead to He-Man, Castle Grayskull, and the Masters of the Universe toy line. • The episode revisits the Filmation cartoon, the toy-and-TV boom of the 1980s, and the way He-Man became a playground staple for a generation. • Jim and Eric connect the 1985 Universal Studios Hollywood He-Man meet-and-greet to the Masters of the Universe Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade float. • The conversation looks back at Gary Goddard's 1987 Masters of the Universe movie, starring Dolph Lundgren and Frank Langella, and why it struggled despite the franchise's popularity. • Eric explains why He-Man is unlikely to become a major Universal attraction, even as Masters of the Universe merchandise appears in Universal parks. • The discussion closes with Mattel Adventure Park's proposed He-Man vs. Skeletor laser tag experience and what a future Castle Grayskull attraction might look like. Busch Gardens Tampa is closing Kumba, one of the most beloved B&M sit-down coasters ever built and the fourth-oldest operating B&M in the world, on August 2nd. Mike and EB spend the first drop giving a 33-year-old classic its proper send-off — the terrain-hugging layout, the iconic photo op under the corkscrew, the fact that it opened the same year Mike graduated high school — before digging into what "Kumba's Revenge" and a $100 million investment might mean for the space it leaves behind. From there, the news gets genuinely interesting: a strong rumor that Disney World's Space Mountain could get fully gutted and rebuilt from the inside out (with the guys making the case for why the purists are wrong this time), a D23 session themed to the Carousel of Progress that's being hosted by none other than Coaster Radio's own announcer, Neil Patrick Harris, and a reveal date for Six Flags Great Adventure's mysterious Project Purple — teased via a barnacle-covered shipping container reading "GVV," which may or may not stand for a name neither host can bring themselves to like. After the break, EB dives into a genuinely enormous care package from a listener packed with park maps, hats, collectible coins, and ceramic bourbon poker chips, before the two get into the show's real centerpiece this week: BlooLoop's list of the 26 best theme park attractions in the world. It's a sprawling, hotly contested countdown spanning six continents' worth of dark rides, and Mike and EB don't hold back — disagreeing hard on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, defending Pirates of the Caribbean's 60-year-old technology, and debating whether a ride that's been open for a matter of months deserves to be crowned the single best attraction on the planet.

Dr. Beckett compares going to Disney World with attending The National sports card show, drawing on trips to Disneyland and Disney World from the 1960s to the 1990s and his long history of attending The National, including taking his family in 1990. With an extended-family Disney World trip planned for early next year, he discusses shared challenges like long days on your feet, routing, and dislike of lines, and contrasts how Disney is typically more expensive while The National involves spending on items with tradeable value. He notes differences in solitude, age-appropriate activities, and family logistics, and suggests The National could learn from Disney's crowd flow, cleanliness, signage, and food options. He concludes neither is “better,” emphasizing being fully present wherever you are and encouraging people to attend both if possible.   00:23 Disney vs The National 01:40 Trips and Family Plans 02:25 Lines and Fast Passes 03:57 Cost Comparison 04:43 All In on the Destination 06:49 Routing and Park Strategy 08:17 Social Dynamics and Community 10:50 Free Agent vs Family Focus 11:43 Physical Demands and Gear 12:58 What Shows Can Learn 14:28 Be Present and Enjoy

Drop us a line or two . . .LONG SUMMARYQueenie kicks things off fresh from a weekend packed with family events — her niece's bridal shower, a pool party at her sister-in-law's place, and what would have been her late mother-in-law Kay's third anniversary. The shower was a hit partly because the bride lives in Texas and had the good sense to put "just ship it" on the invitation, meaning zero gift-unwrapping theater, zero bow hats, zero frantic "she's in the bathroom, don't open it yet" energy. The scratch-off card game was a crowd-pleaser — you send in a photo of the groom, they print him into a celebrity card deck, guests scratch to find him, winner gets a gift bag. Clean, fun, no one had to pretend to cry over a KitchenAid.On the way to the pool party, Queenie stopped at a neighborhood lemonade stand (Disney World fund, very ambitious), handed over a ten, got some chitchat — and then, as she's leaving in her bathing suit, a little girl looks up and says, *I like your dress.* Queenie nearly corrected her and then wisely decided: no need. Just drive away in your very mini dress. The conversation pivots to long marriages when TT brings up a moment at pickleball — a sweet young woman, married two years, asked TT and her husband what their secret was after learning they'd been together 43 years (Queenie initially insisted it was 45 or 46; the math got worked out eventually). The husband's answer: "You have to learn when not to say things." Queenie's suggested alternatives: laziness, procrastination, inertia, conflict aversion, exhaustion, and not wanting to go broke. TT reveals the piece of advice she *wanted* to write on a bridal shower card once but didn't have the nerve to sign her name to. It is, shall we say, anatomically specific and probably the most useful thing anyone has ever almost written on one of those cards. This leads to a small detour about the lost art of handwriting — Queenie had to get a second advice card at the shower because her first attempt looked like it was written by, in her words, "a deranged old woman." Neither of them writes anymore. Cursive, once a graded subject, now just runs off the page on its own while the brain races ahead. The segment **Wait, What? No Way, José** lands on smell training and brain aging, sourced from a Harvard neurobiologist (legitimacy confirmed: it's not just hoo-ha). Turns out your nose is directly wired into cognitive, emotional, and memory centers of the brain, smell loss is linked to 139 health conditions, and simply sniffing five strong scents for 20 seconds twice a day — lavender, lemon, coffee, clove, eucalyptus — with active focus can improve verbal fluency and even increase hippocampus volume. The ladies immediately start workshopping their personal scent lineups. TT goes for baking bread, tomato plants, and basil. Queenie wants salt air (requires seaweed, complicated to bottle), eucalyptus, lavender, the smell of a baby's head, and the smell of spring — which she acknowledges is more of a smell memory than a smell. TT connects the dots: smells are evocative, strengthening the connection probably strengthens memory, and also TT has chronic sinus issues so this whole exercise might be harder for her. Queenie floats eucalyptus as a possible unclogger. Nobody huffs gasoline, despite TT's complicated feelings about it.Hot on the heels of nose science comes a cannabis news drop: a large new study published in BMJ Mental Health found no link between cannabis use and cognitive decline or dementia risk in older adults. Unlike the patchwork of conflicting prior studies, this one has statistical weight — large observational sample plus genetic causation testing. The researchers themselves say it's reassuring, not a green light for heavy use. Queenie's editorial: "Put that in your pipe and smoke it, everybody." TT suspects the dementia scare was always a "dog whistle" designed to keep older adults — now the biggest cannabis-purchasing demographic — away from the dispensary.**TT's Choice** pulls number 50: *What if you woke up fluent in one new language? Which one, and what's the first thing you say?* TT chooses American Sign Language. Queenie blinks. Slowly. Several times. She comes around — ASL is cool, meaningful, a genuine bridge — but not before pointing out that you can't exactly holler across a room in it and that the deaf community is, statistically speaking, a smaller conversation pool than Mandarin speakers. TT's first thing she'd sign: *Hey, I can communicate with you.* Queenie's pick is Hindi or Mandarin, motivated by sheer population density and years of working with people from India and China. Her first phrase would be "How may I best support you?" They both know exactly one useful sign — the universal one — and demonstrate it enthusiastically. World peace is declared, then immediately rescinded.**The Fuck It List** this week belongs to Queenie, who has been drowning in communication chaos. Working with relocation assignees, she's been available in every possible channel simultaneously — WhatsApp, texting, email, calls — with no structure, no response windows, 14 draft messages floating in the ether. She's saying fuck it to the myth of 24/7 availability and replacing it with something she finds less loaded than "setting boundaries": setting expectations. Spelling out clearly what method to use when, what response time is realistic, what constitutes an emergency. TT's contribution: "Clarity is kindness." They both acknowledge the particular guilt that comes with this for women of their generation — trained to give, to accommodate, to say yes and mean it and then quietly resent it. Queenie also notes the extra complication: some of her assignees are new to a city with no social network, making her feel like the only lifeline. Still. Expectations. In writing. Part of the intake process. Done. The back half is pure domestic dispatch: TT is doing smoothies for lunch, lost some weight, allowed herself ice cream on the Wisconsin River (a ferry went past; they did not take it), and permits herself two pieces of hard candy a day. Queenie is preparing for a colonoscopy on Wednesday — which she is reframing as "Cleansday" and, after the year she had, genuinely does not fear. She was apparently scolded last time for insufficient prep results, a situation she finds baffling since she followed instructions and couldn't exactly verify from her end. More Miralax this time. She's fine with it. Meanwhile, Queenie's daughter Megan had her first mammogram and got called back — technical imaging issue, folding, unclear view, very common for a first scan, not worrying anyone. Queenie's granddaughter just started high school. Time, as always, is marching on without asking permission. They close, as they do, pleasantly confused and absolutely fine with it.SHORT SUMMARYQueenie survived a bridal shower, a pool party, and being complimented on her "dress" (it was a bathing suit) — all in one weekend. CDQ covers smell training as a legit brain health tool, a reassuring new cannabis-and-cognitive-decline study, a TT's Choice debate about sign language vs. Mandarin, and Queenie's Fucked List entry on finally setting expectations — not boundaries, *expectations* — around her availability. Aging brains, long marriages, colonoscopy prep, and ASL for "fuck you": a perfectly normal episode. TOP 5 PULL QUOTES**TT:** "There's no problem that a blowjob can't fix. I didn't have the guts to write it — I didn't know these people."**Queenie:** "I have long-term care insurance, and I'm not afraid to exhaust all my benefits. And when they're gone, guess what? So am I."**TT:** "To what do you attribute your successful marriage? And I said, I don't know. And honey said, You have to learn when not to say things."**Queenie:** "I'm saying fuck it to the pretense that I'm available twenty-four seven. My assignees will be better served if I just spell it out — setting expectations, not boundaries. Clarity is kindness."**Queenie:** "I'm looking forward to my colonoscopy prep because I'll drop a few pounds. I'm viewing it as a cleanse. A reset. I can start fresh. That's what I should've been calling it all along — Cleansday."# EPISODE VIBEIt's the kind of episode that feels like eavesdropping on two people who've known each other long enou Welcome to the Closet Disco Queen Pot-Cast, a #1 ranked Women in Cannabis (Feedspot, Million Pods; 2025) comedy podcast with music and pop culture references that keeps you laughing and engaged.
