Hofmeister's background in analytic materials science has given her a deeper than average understanding of how to deal with complex physical systems, which allows her to see what others miss. Often, she will investigate a system that's thought to behave in strange ways - like galaxies whose rotation appears to violate Newton's laws - and discover that a deep confusion about how to treat the system mathematically produces fantastical explanations like dark matter or modified gravity. In our conversation we talk about the surprising implications her work for things like plate tectonics, the structure of the sun & the liquid sun model championed by PM Robitaille, and how to see the pieces that everyone else misses. Welcome back! I'm your host, Jeff Williamson and today we are thrilled to continue our conversation with the insightful Dan Hofmeister, equity partner at Reed Smith LLP.Listen to Part 1In part two of this session, Dan takes us through the evolving landscape of the legal profession, focusing on the impact of technology and the recent shift to remote work driven by Covid-19. He shares how the transition from traditional legal libraries to digital resources has reshaped the profession and discusses the increasing role of AI, a development he describes as "the new frontier" in law.Dan also delves into the challenges of training young lawyers in a hybrid work environment and emphasizes the importance of maintaining integrity and values in legal practice. Reflecting on his work with nonprofits, Dan reveals how his commitment to these organizations enriches his professional life by allowing him to make meaningful contributions beyond corporate law.A key takeaway from this episode is Dan's belief in the significance of finding joy and purpose in one's work: “There can be real joy in that process and in that profession if it's truly a profession and it's a calling and it's done meaningfully and purposely.”So sit back and enjoy this thought-provoking discussion as we explore the intersections of leadership, technology, and integrity in the legal field. Don't forget to subscribe to join us for more contemplative conversations on leadership and purpose.

In this episode, Marquis Murray chats with Gudrun Hofmeister, a seasoned fundraising consultant with over 15 years of experience in securing major gifts for nonprofit organizations. During the episode, Hofmeister discussed the importance of systems and processes in nonprofit fundraising. She emphasized the significance of building relationships and having a clear vision to secure major gifts. Hofmeister, who has managed capital campaigns, feasibility studies, and annual fund campaigns for a fundraising consulting firm for eight years before launching her own business in 2016, shared that her passion lies in securing six to seven-figure gifts for her clients. She said that these transformational gifts often come from a small group of philanthropists who provide the majority of support for nonprofits. Hofmeister also highlighted the role of Asana, a project management tool, in their work. She explained that while Asana does not replace a CRM, it is useful in managing donor relationships and making tasks more actionable. She mentioned that they use Asana to keep track of prospective donors, manage donor data, and plan fundraising campaigns. Discussing the future of nonprofit fundraising, Hofmeister predicted that systematization and automation would play a crucial role. She stated that people's time would be better spent on building relationships rather than handling transactional tasks, as the money comes from relationships. Just one final episode for now about marriage between the Hroneks and Hofmeisters. Navigating life stages. Sharing discipleship. Getting into gospel to get back into each other. This episode is a smattering of topics on "everything else" we've got time to talk about.
When people want to talk about Divorce, Jesus wants to talk marriage. Brian & Melissa and Cammie & Justin talk both in this episode. What theology is there behind getting a divorce? What real-life situations make it so hopelessly complicated? Why is Jesus and our scriptures so muddy on all the conditions for considering a divorce, but so vividly inspiring on the conditions for a great marriage?
