Today's story is from a mom who experienced postpartum depression, anxiety, OCD, and rage. Many of us have been through one or more of these symptoms, and it's especially hard for mental health providers to acknowledge these conditions. Postpartum depression and anxiety can take you by surprise, even if you know what to look for in the symptoms. Join us to hear more from Rosalinda in today's episode. Rosalinda Heider is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who received her Bachelor's in Social Work from West Texas A&M University in 2006 and Master's degree from the Baylor University School of Social Work in 2008. She has spent the last 12 years working as a mental health and suicide prevention social worker for the Department of Veteran Affairs. In her motherhood experience, she became aware of the lack of support for new mothers who are struggling with mental health. After starting a postpartum support group for mothers in her community in 2017, she also began a virtual postpartum support group within the VA for female veterans. Guest: Dr. Joe McIlhaney [Mature Theme] Joe McIlhaney, MD is the Founder and Chairman of The Medical Institute for Sexual Health. He founded this organization in 1992, and left his medical practice of twenty-four years to become President of the organization in 1995. He is from Lubbock, TX and graduated from Texas Technological College (now Texas Tech University) in 1957. He graduated from Baylor University School of Medicine with an MD degree in 1991. This episode of The Path & The Practice features a conversation with Jennifer Huckleberry. Jennifer is a litigation associate in Foley's Houston Office. In this conversation, Jennifer reflects on growing-up in San Diego, CA, attending college at California Polytechnic State University, and Baylor University School of Law. Jennifer also reflects on the years she spent working in the finance industry as a senior portfolio analysist for a large federal bank. She discusses why she decided to leave finance to attend law school and shares how she found law school, at least initially, to be a difficult adjustment. Dr. Saba Rizvi is a graduate of the University of South Alabama College of Medicine and did her residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. She has been a practicing Board Certified Emergency Physician for the past 11 years, holding licenses in both Colorado and Texas.  Dr. Rizvi has worked in a variety of practice settings, including Level 1 trauma centers to rural community hospitals in places like Delta, Colorado. Gregory H. Herrman has been committed to providing quality legal representation for injured accident victims in the Corpus Christi area and the Rio Grande Valley for many years. A native of Hays, Kansas, Herrman comes from a family of lawyers. His father had a general practice in Hays, and an uncle and grandfather also were attorneys. Philip Obado is the Director of Bands at Allen ISD in Allen, Texas where he oversees a high school and middle school band program with over 1,800 musicians. Topics: The story of how Phil went from dreaming about a career as a concert trombonist to earning a doctorate in conducting and eventually landing as the director of bands for one of the largest high school music programs in the country. The decision to leave his position as the Assistant Director of Bands at Baylor University to return to high school teaching. The structure of the program at Allen and how Phil and his assistant directors are able to manage what is very likely the largest marching band in the world by developing a culture of leadership. Obado is currently the Director of Bands at Allen I.S.D. in Allen, Texas. His responsibilities include serving as director of bands at Allen High School where he oversees the Allen Eagle Escadrille as well as conducts the AHS Wind Ensemble, Concert Band White (Fall), Concert Band II (Spring), and Jazz Band II. In addition to Dr. Obado’s teaching duties, he helps maintain a comprehensive and vertically aligned band curriculum (grades 6-12) with the help of the directors at Allen High School, Lowery Freshman Campus, Curtis Middle School, Ereckson Middle School, and Ford Middle School. Dr. Obado was previously Assistant Director of Bands at the Baylor University School of Music. His responsibilities included serving as Associate Director of the Golden Wave Band, director of the Courtside Players, director of the Concert Band, and teaching courses in conducting. Prior to this appointment at Baylor, Dr. Obado was Associate Director of Bands at Illinois State University where he was the director of the Big Red Marching Machine, conducted the Symphonic Winds and Symphonic Band, and taught courses in conducting and marching band techniques. He has also enjoyed twelve years teaching in the Florida public schools most notably as the Director of Bands at East River High School (Orlando), University High School (Orlando), and South Fork High School (Stuart). Originally from Florida, Dr. Obado received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in wind conducting from Michigan State University, a Master of Music Education degree from Florida State University, and a Bachelor of Music in Education and Performance from Ithaca College. His primary conducting teachers include Kevin Sedatole, John T. Madden, Stephen Peterson, and James Croft. Robert Everett L. "Bob" Looney (December 27, 1924 - September 8, 2000) was an eccentric lawyer from Austin, Texas. He was the son of Everett L. Looney (November 30, 1900 - October 4, 1962), the President of the State Bar of Texas from 1953-54. He was born in Ennis, Texas, and served in the Navy in World War Two. He graduated from the University of Texas and Baylor University School of Law, where he was first in his class. He primarily practiced criminal law, and referred to himself as "The Lone Wolf." One of his best-known clients was David R. Ruiz, a nationally-known "jailhouse lawyer" and advocate for prison reform.In addition, Looney enjoyed composing and performing songs and poetry, some of which were recorded. This record was released, supposedly in connection with his campaign to become the Governor of Texas, as a candidate of the Democratic Party. The music was composed and performed by Bill Hughes. Dr. Gary Mortenson, Dean of the Baylor University School of Music, explains how the School of Music's reach extends beyond the concert hall or practice room. Ayres’s repertoire varies widely, with pieces written especially for the developing voice, high school choirs, and collegiate/professional ensembles. In the past year, Ayres was a finalist in the Raymond S. Brock Student Composition Competition, and took 2nd place in the SWACDA Graduate Choral Conducting Competition. He is an inaugural board member of the Colorado Middle School All-State choir, and his works have premiered at local, state, and international choral festivals. Ayres was recently named the University of Northern Colorado's "Student Innovator of the Year" and awarded the UNC Spark Prize for his design of a new "'intelligent' rhythm-teaching smartphone app," which is currently in development. Ayres graduated cum laude in 2011 from the Baylor University School of Music in Waco, Texas with a Bachelor’s of Choral Music Education degree, and is currently pursuing his Master’s Degree in Choral Conducting from the University of Northern Colorado.
