The Blue Zones started as a NatGeo project on tracking longevity back in 2004, and simply continued pursuing common traits. It is not a fully-vetted scientific study, but there are some recommendations and points it makes that, regardless of whether it is pseudoscience or hard science, or a combination thereof, could provide benefits for those who follow them. Tonight, we will discuss: The History and Origin of the Blue Zones TheoryThe Structure and Suggestions for Life Changes, and Why Pursue TheseCounterpoints and Critiques, and What Parts MatterConclusions, Closing Remarks, & Final Suggestions We'll start off the evening with some topic-relevant Classic Rock played by Dr. Mathis, followed by Classic Rock trivia in "The Rock & Roll Shrink Recalls," followed by our topic discussion. Please follow our bi-weekly, Wednesday evening shows, at 11 pm ET. We will have a new topic for you in two weeks!

It is another deep dive on the Giants draft (and UDFA) class for Big Blue! First a quick peak at the London schedule that puts the Giants across the pond, and a getting poke at division rival Dallas Cowboys. Then... In Joe Schoen we trust, as Adam Armbrecht and Andy Mackiewicz discuss impact Austin Allen can have on the Giants. He is a big, balanced and hard working product out of Nebraska, that could find himself on the depth chart come September. Andy notes that current veteran TE Akins holds a mere $50k guaranteed on his contract, meaning training camp can be an open competition where Andy sees Allen potentially ahead of Bellinger. Adam then turns his attention to 5th round selection Micah McFadden. Adam sees all the makings of a starting ILB for Blue Blue in the mold of Blake Martinez, with a bit more athleticism to stay on the field in coverage vs TE. Reshaping the depth chart already puts both McFadden and Darrian Beavers in line for significant roles as Joe Schoen molds the roster in his vision! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/onegiantpodcast/message

Here is the sermon description: Christmas may not be 'Joy to The World' for many who have lost loved ones. Christmas, more than any other time of the year, is time of family. This makes it a Holiday to survive rather than enjoy. How does one deal with the loss of a loved one at Christmas time? In today's sermon, Gareth looks at a Naomi in the book of Ruth who has lost her entire family. His desire for all who listen is that they may find someone who understands what they are going through and discover a sense of hope during a challenging time.

Everyone has feelings, and all feelings are valid. This is an attempt to encourage discussion. Lenny - It feels like blue players always have a trick up their sleeve. And this is one of the most legitimate criticisms of Blue, I've ever heard, and it's also one of the reasons I love blue! With so many cards available at instant speed, Blue gets the longest amount of time to make decisions, and gets to have the most information available when they make said decisions. I think this one is somewhat related to the point above. Specifically, that Blue players can leave up interaction mana, and then if nothing needs interacting, they can draw some cards, or with a lot of things having flash, they can commit resources to the board, and then untap with protection, and the creatures have pseudo-haste. I think this is one of the things that gets people to say “Kill the blue mage first”, and maybe that's valid. It's also a real point that blue players can often “not look too scary until it's too late” This is kind of a good reason to play Blue :) Blue decks tend to sneak by and win out of nowhere. This one upsets people a lot, and I definitely understand it sometimes, like in the case of Blatant Thievery and Expropriate, where the opposing players have invested cards and mana into the permanent. Something like Thada Adel, Acquisitor often gets the same type of reactions, and that one feels less true to me. I think I'd rather clone than steal Thievery feel bad and can cause people to feel afraid to make big plays I've heard of playgroups that rule 0 ban ALL counterspells Don't get me started on Brawl on Arena, in 1-1 counterspells do feel pretty bad :( Sometimes a combo would be able to win at “instant speed” and so even normal removal won't cut it. Prophet's example of Craterhoof and Dockside Have much stricter timing when compared to traditional removal You need to know when a creature is going to be pointed at you when it's on the stack, with traditional removal, you can wait until someone *actually* attacks you. 1-for-1 cards don't scale in Commander. A deck with 30 counterspells in it is probably NOT very good. I honestly think Propaganda is much more annoying than Counterspells. Counterspells can be teamed up on. Although this does kinda stink for the person to the left of the Counterspeller. (But it's also much more tempting for a Blue mage to let spells of player on their left resolve). I think Counterspells are actually kinda bad in Commander (Free ones are the exception here). My Blue Braid's deck has 6 counterspells, but 2 are situational My Morph deck has 2 counterspells Nymris deck has 9, that might be too many… (Many of them cost 5 or more mana) Mono blue wizards has 5, but they are pretty situational and/or versatile, Kheru Spellsnatcher, Mystic Confluence Counterspells in my decks (I do love Draining Whelk) This is tricky, because Counterspells can certainly cause feel bads, but they can also be heroes Counterspells 32/100 cards are blue (or have blue in their color identity). This is roughly ⅓ when it, if everything was equal, it should be ⅕ or less (due to artifacts and lands), so the math definitely points to blue being Salt inducing. Yeah, these can be rage-inducing. Also, these are the kinda effects that lead people to team up on a player, and I tend not to run them too too often (I am guilty of Expropriate AND Time Stretch in the same deck though) Comparison to Sword of Feast and Famine Extra turns Blue wincons can be salt inducing. (iw. Control, combo, or extra turns) It feels like we've been hearing more and more players say they don't care to play or play against blue, so we took to our patrons to find out some reasons people aren't down with one of our favorite colors. White - Stax / MLD Green - Ramp Black - Tutors and discard effects Red - Wheels and other chaos type effects Basically, the rule zero talk needs to be in full-effect here. It really matters when you're BUILDING the deck. Thinking about the given answers playing blue seems like it could be a feels bad, but when you look at the other colors they have mechanics that can cause the same kind of feelings Fact or Fiction Illusionist's Gambit and Aetherize - Protection from being attacked Wrong Turn Plagiarize These are sooo blue, and soooo fun, and perfect 75% cards Clones - Phantasmal Image Can change color, land words, and creature types Supplant Form Spellweaver Volute Sudden Substitution Rite of Replication Clone Legion Faerie Artisans Bident of Thassa Does blue have things other to offer than counters, combos, or extra turns that aren't oppressive? Zack Artifact synergies! Zack wings it Blue lets me feel smart. People like to feel smart. I like having as much info as possible when making a decision, and Blue let's me do that. I mean, come on, Flash! Blue can “Fly under the Radar”. At the same time, when someone attacks you or messes with your stuff, you as a blue player should try and understand this, and take it as the compliment it is (and yeah, be honest with yourself). Also, realize that sometimes you won't have anything going on, but THEY don't know that, and so you might have some unfun games when that happens. Ryan Why do we like blue? It’s one of the most commonly searched phrases in the industry…I mean it makes sense…People want to KNOW!Is is still a good opportunity to sell on Amazon FBA? Or are there way too many sellers involved to make any money?I’m going to answer this in kind of a strange way.I know you’re shocked by that… ;-)OF COURSE I could give you all the stats…How way more than 50% of everything sold on Amazon is sold by people like you and me. How more NEW people are shopping on Amazon than ever beforeAnd how Amazon is EXPANDING to every market in the WORLD. But you know all of that. (or at least you should)But let’s flip this on it’s head…EVERYTHING GOOD IS SATURATED. Seriously. It’s WAY too late. You might as well quit now.Amazon FBA = SaturatedBecoming a YouTuber = SaturatedBecoming an instagram influencer = SaturatedOpening up a Franchise restaurant = SaturatedI’m serious, just quit! Even big companies face this. Online Search Engines (I.E. Google, Yahoo, Bing) = SaturatedSocial Networks (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) = SaturatedOnline selling platforms (Amazon, Ebay, FB Marketplace) = Saturated.I’m dead serious. Anything worth doing, has ALREADY BEEN DONE, TENS OF THOUSANDS IF NOT MILLIONS OF TIMES!Are you depressed yet? :)I hope you can tell that I’m partially joking here.I’m not joking that everything is saturated. Of course it is. Of course there are millions of sellers on Amazon -> people want to make moneyOf course there are millions of Youtubers -> people want to be famousOf course there are millions of franchises -> people want to make money (again). Here are two things that NOBODY ELSE will TELL YOU because they are scared of that word “SATURATED”. 1) It’s a GOOD THING2) It doesn’t FREAKING MATTER. Let’s break it down. Why is it a GOOD THING that Amazon is saturated? I’m just going to use Amazon FBA as the example for the rest of this article. Cool?Cool. It’s good because if there weren’t thousands if not MILLIONS of people trying to sell on Amazon..THERE WOULD BE NO OPPORTUNITY THERE.DUH!Why would you WANT to sell in an “un-saturated” marketplace, anyway? Are you really going to assume that you are going to somehow “stumble upon” something as globally world-changing as Amazon, and that you will be the only person who has heard of it?Some people really think this, it’s crazy! They think there’s another Amazon lurking out there.Undiscovered. Just waiting for them to pounce on it’s unsaturated GLORY!NO! WRONG!There is only one Amazon, and everyone wants to sell on it!!!THAT is why it’s a good thing. The REASON everyone wants to sell on it is because EVERYONE wants to BUY on it!Our whole lives we’ve been trained the wrong way…Participation trophies…“you did your best that’s all that matters”…WRONG AGAIN.This is not a cookie baking contest between happy moms. This is global world dominance in the online retail market. It is a SAVAGE, WINNER TAKE ALL MARKET. Here, let me demonstrate with a graph. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH. Seriously are you looking at that? That tiny little spec of a line in second place?Yeah, that’s APPLE. The company that made the phone you are probably reading or listening to this on. So good luck, all you SATURATION HATERS! :)Go ahead and sell on your own website. Or some other website. I’m going to stick to the “saturated” Amazon. (Where all the BUYERS are ALSO saturated). I forget what my second point was…oh yeah2) It doesn’t FREAKING MATTER. Even if you didn’t want to sell on Amazon.Let’s say you wanted to open up a botique nail salon near your house. Or become a freaking uber driver. I hate to break it to you again…BUT IT’S ALL SATURATED.Freaking ALL OF IT. There is insane competition among uber drivers. Insane competition between beauty salons in your area. It’s all saturated and cut-throat competitive. So what are we to do?Crawl up in a corner?Pee our little pants and call home to mommy?NO.YOU HAVE TO DIFFERENTIATE.That’s the SOLUTION if you are taking notes. ^^^^^you have to SET YOURSELF APART. There are a BILLION examples of this. Here’s one of my favorites. This is literally how I got my start on Amazon. It’s been almost 4 years now. But when I first started selling Cornhole lights the competition looked like the listing on the right. Same colors for both lights. White & White.Blue & Blue. You get it. Literally all I did was smack myself in the head and say..“Hmm.. I wonder if people would like to play Blue team vs Red Team?”Or Blue team vs Pink Team?OF COURSE THEY WOULD. So I put two different colored lights in the same box and BOOM. Became the #1 best seller in 4 weeks. And the rest is history. Now let’s circle back.Did it matter that..Amazon added a MILLION sellers to the FBA platform THAT YEAR? No.There were already 200+ people ALREADY selling Cornhole lights before I even got the idea, much less got them manufactured? No. The other people selling them had more reviews and bigger budgets than me? No.The ONLY thing that mattered was that I set myself apart in an important way, and people LOVED IT, so they BOUGHT IT.So, I would challenge each and every one of you reading this today with a couple things. A) What business idea have you been putting off because you think it’s too saturated? When are you going to man up (or woman up) and stop using that as an excuse?B) Who in your life, if it’s not you, needs to read this? Will you share it with them?I appreciate you all for reading this. Sorry for the tone of voice today, I just can’t stand people asking if it’s “saturated.” It makes NO SENSE and those people are unlikely to be successful at anything they do in life. Want to know what’s the MOST SATURATED thing in LIFE?This might rub some of you the wrong way but I don’t really care. Being AVERAGE. That s**t is SUPER popular. Super “saturated”.Hell, literally EVERYONE is doing it….I guess the choice is yours from here.See you subscribers tomorrow. If you aren’t subscribed, see you next week.Kale Get on the email list at thekaleletter.substack.com

When we in Ireland think of Irish-America, our minds tend to rush towards rivers died green, New York cops and maybe even a Massachusetts political dynasty. But there’s a lot more to the story than that. In particular, the Appalachian region, crossing multiple states, has its own culture and identity distinct from its neighbours in the South and Midwest, of which Irish music and language have made a significant contribution. In this week’s episode, Darach and Peadar chat to Rebecca Wells, a singer in Nashville, Tennessee. She tells the lads about her Appalachian roots, the influence of Irish music on bluegrass and other musical traditions, the overlap between accents and dialects and the way what you call a can of carbonated drink is an indicator of where you are from. She also tells the story behind her Twitter handle @faoiltighearna and her favourite Irish word. Today we are going to talk about Business Branding Rule #1 which is to, Choose colors wisely. It may be your desire to choose colors that are most appealing to suit your personal taste, but they may not always be the most ideal for the success of your business. Advertising and marketing firms understand the emotions that colors convey and always choose the colors of their marketing carefully. I'm going to share a quick reference for the emotions conveyed by common colors. Red: Very emotionally intense color. Associated with energy, war, danger, strength, power, determination as well as passion, desire, and love. Use it as an accent color to stimulate people to make quick decisions. Orange: To the human eye, orange is a very hot color, so it gives the sensation of heat. Represents enthusiasm, fascination, happiness, creativity, determination, attraction, success, encouragement, and stimulation. Use it to catch attention and highlight the most important elements of your design. Yellow: Yellow is the color of sunshine and produces a warming effect. It's associated with joy, happiness, intellect, and energy. Yellow is an unstable and spontaneous color, so avoid using yellow if you want to suggest stability and safety. Green: Symbolizes growth, harmony, freshness, and fertility. Green has strong emotional correspondence with safety and has great healing power. Dark green is also commonly associated with money. Blue: Blue is the color of the sky and sea. It is often associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven. Avoid using blue when promoting food and cooking, because blue suppresses appetite. Purple: Symbolizes power, nobility, luxury, and ambition. Conveys wealth and extravagance and is associated with wisdom, dignity, independence, creativity, mystery, and magic. Light purple is a good choice for a feminine design; use bright purple when promoting children's products. White: White is associated with light, goodness, innocence, purity, and virginity. Considered to be the color of perfection and conveys safety, purity, and cleanliness. Use white to suggest simplicity in high-tech products. Black: Associated with power, elegance, formality, death, evil, and mystery. It usually carries a negative connotation, but denotes strength and authority. Combined with red or orange – other very powerful colors – black gives a very aggressive color scheme. Tune in tomorrow for the 2nd Rule of Business Branding. If you want to understand how to effectively brand your name, you first need to comprehend the basics of business branding. Business branding isn't a complicated process, but the success of your business branding relies on the relevance, quality and consistency of its design. Most business professionals fall short when branding their business because they try to over complicate the process. However, if you follow the basics of business branding and resist the temptation to lose the focus of the message, you should be well on your way towards creating an effective brand. The most important basic factor in branding your business is conveying a message. You only have a few seconds to capture the attention of potential clients, and in those few seconds, your brand must clearly convey several points. Make those few precious seconds count by making it easy for your audience to comprehend your specialty with just a glance. Stick to these 4 Basic Rules of Business Branding and watch your business grow. Business Branding Rule #1: Choose colors wisely It may be your desire to choose colors that are most appealing to suit your personal taste, but they may not always be the most ideal for the success of your business. Advertising and marketing firms understand the emotions that colors convey and always choose the colors of their marketing carefully. Here's a quick reference for the emotions conveyed by common colors. Business Branding Rule #2: Let the logo do the talking In those crucial first few seconds of grabbing a client's attention, your logo must convey a clear, concise message that is easily understood. For example, if you fix computers, consider including an image of computer and stethoscope to convey that you're a computer doctor. Or, if you own a hair salon include an image of old-fashioned vanity lights and shears. Get the idea? The key is to identify at least one tangible icon that represents your business. The slogan should do the talking, while the logo is visually supportive of the message of the slogan. Business Branding Rule #3: Keep the slogan short and sweet Remember, you only have a few seconds to grab someone's attention. That means you have about two seconds to convey your message. The brain can process information at amazing speeds, and you'd be surprised by how much information can be conveyed in a split second - but only when it's done properly. Your slogan should always be attached to your logo, appearing directly below or next to the image. Make your slogan seven words or less - again short and sweet. Be sure the slogan says what you do without making it sound dry and uninteresting. For example, let's say you are a business coach. You could create a slogan that clearly and concisely conveys what you do - without having to provide a lengthy elevator speech. Here are some examples: • “The Small Business Guru” • “Take Your Business Global” • “The Home Business Coach” • The Referral Coach™ - already taken • The Strategic Coach™ - already taken • The Accountability Coach™ - already taken Business Branding Rule #4: Consistency is king Now that you have your logo and slogan, it's important to stay consistent. In every piece of marketing from your letterhead to advertising spots, the logo and slogan should always remain consistent. If you've hired a professional graphic artist or marketing firm to create your business look, they should have provided a digital file with your logo and slogan in a variety of positions and sizes (to accommodate different sizes and methods of media). Once your design is set, do not waver from it. Ideally, keep the logo/slogan layouts to no more than three different layouts to accommodate different media such as website, letterhead, and print and web advertisements. Make sure that both your print marketing and online marketing are consistent. The design and color scheme should remain true to your website theme. You'd be surprised how many people will type in your URL when directed through an advertisement, only to get thrown off by a website design that looks nothing like the ad. When you don't make the effort to keep your branding consistent you run the chance of confusing your potential clients - hence, losing revenue. Action Steps 1. Review Tip #1. Does your current logo reflect the type of image you want to portray? If not, hire a graphic designer to design a new logo and choose appropriate colors. Ask a friend or colleague for a recommendation, or go to Elance.com to find a freelance graphic designer. Expect to pay $75 - $250 per logo. 2. Review Tip #3. Does your slogan really grab your ideal client? Put yourself in your client's place. What slogan would make you want to hire you? Refine it, if need be, to reflect the most focused message possible that invokes immediate action. 3. Review Tip #4. Does your marketing contain a consistent message and design? If not, follow your company logo (design and color) and make necessary adjustments to all marketing pieces, including your website. Business Branding Rule #2: Let the logo do the talking In those crucial first few seconds of grabbing a client’s attention, your logo must convey a clear, concise message that is easily understood. For example, if you fix computers, consider including an image of computer and stethoscope to convey that you’re a computer doctor. Or, if you own a hair salon include an image of old-fashioned vanity lights and shears. Get the idea? The key is to identify at least one tangible icon that represents your business. The slogan should do the talking, while the logo is visually supportive of the message of the slogan. Business Branding Rule #3: Keep the slogan short and sweet Remember, you only have a few seconds to grab someone’s attention. That means you have about two seconds to convey your message. The brain can process information at amazing speeds, and you’d be surprised by how much information can be conveyed in a split second - but only when it’s done properly. Your slogan should always be attached to your logo, appearing directly below or next to the image. Make your slogan seven words or less - again short and sweet. Be sure the slogan says what you do without making it sound dry and uninteresting. For example, let’s say you are a business coach. You could create a slogan that clearly and concisely conveys what you do - without having to provide a lengthy elevator speech. Here are some examples: • “The Small Business Guru” • “Take Your Business Global” • “The Home Business Coach” • The Referral Coach™ - already taken • The Strategic Coach™ - already taken • The Accountability Coach™ - already taken Business Branding Rule #4: Consistency is king Now that you have your logo and slogan, it’s important to stay consistent. In every piece of marketing from your letterhead to advertising spots, the logo and slogan should always remain consistent. If you’ve hired a professional graphic artist or marketing firm to create your business look, they should have provided a digital file with your logo and slogan in a variety of positions and sizes (to accommodate different sizes and methods of media). You’d be surprised how many people will type in your URL when directed through an advertisement, only to get thrown off by a website design that looks nothing like the ad. When you don’t make the effort to keep your branding consistent you run the chance of confusing your potential clients - hence, losing revenue. Action Steps 1. Review Tip #1. Does your current logo reflect the type of image you want to portray? If not, hire a graphic designer to design a new logo and choose appropriate colors. Ask a friend or colleague for a recommendation, or go to Upwork.com or Guru.com to find a freelance graphic designer. Expect to pay $75 - $250 per logo. 2. Review Tip #3. Does your slogan really grab your ideal client? Put yourself in your client’s place. If you want to understand how to effectively brand your name, you first need to comprehend the basics of business branding. Business branding isn’t a complicated process, but the success of your business branding relies on the relevance, quality and consistency of its design. Most business owners fall short when branding their business because they try to overcomplicate the process. Here’s a quick reference for the emotions conveyed by common colors. "The day I was leaving Paris for Berlin, I missed my flight at Airport Orly. There were no other flights available on the same airline that day, so I found another flight leaving two hours later. This week Carlos Alberto Diego from the Four Diegos joined Ian Cohen on SEN Afternoons to discuss the latest issues in world football. The hot topic was the Big Blue and the handball controversy - the hand of Dave - that according to Victory coach Kevin Muscat cost Victory the game. The boys also talked about the big moments in football that made them go 'whoa'. The listeners joined in on some lively talkback. Stereotypes ahead. Red Vs. Blue is split into two episodes (one for Republicans (red) and one for Democrats (blue). This is to help you make a smoother transition into joining the Fence Party. Phoenix West hates both sides of the political tug-of-war. Here he explains in detail why both sides are incredibly full of shit. Miguel Brambila stopped by to help out. It gets preachy so fucking deal with it. Episode 4 is the BLUE edition. The one for DEMOCRATS. Share this with all your hipster friends.
