Fresh from the Archives of the Impossible conference at Rice University, Kelly and Jay sit down to unpack one of the most talked-about moments of the weekend—a provocative presentation by Dr. Garry Nolan on his involvement with the Skywatcher initiative.Skywatcher is an emerging public-facing effort claiming to demonstrate CE5-style contact, utilize psionic assets, with the aim of potentially reverse-engineering non-human technologies. The implications are enormous—and so are the questions. In this wide-ranging, deeply reflective conversation, Kelly and Jay explore:The strange and rapid emergence of Skywatcher and the implications for the disclosure movementThe increasingly blurred lines between whistleblower testimony, media spectacle, and operational theaterThe question of who's leading the charge into direct contact with non-human intelligences—and whyThe need to balance the objectives of science and venture capital against humanitarian, ethical, and philosophical questions in our quest for contact—and why that will almost certainly not happen. The potential cost of accelerating contact without asking the deeper metaphysical, spiritual, and cultural questionsWatch Cosmosis: UFOs & A New Reality:https://www.cosmosis.media/Join the Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/cosmosismediaSubscribe to Cosmosis:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Cosmosis.PodcastSpotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/7KnyktIs059pbVdccD020D?si=f3835f36a8cb479dApple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/cosmosis-formerly-the-ufo-rabbit-hole/id1595590107Follow CosmosisX: https://x.com/cosmosis_mediaFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/share/12EEyNVPucu/?mibextid=wwXIfrInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/cosmosis.mediaListen to the Cosmosis Soundtrack by Michael Rubino:Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/album/5Xvs2NAHNbKjfW7hWkjqey?si=pJPPgIPsRZGkZjJh19UULQApple Music: https://music.apple.com/us/album/cosmosis-ufos-a-new-reality-season-one-original-soundtrack/1788465117Amazon: https://amazon.com/music/player/albums/B0DS5WY5CB?marketplaceId=ATVPDKIKX0DER&musicTerritory=US&ref=dm_sh_zY05XPzhLhuow5dAgK3g2W9yCTIMESTAMPS02:18 Exploring Sky Watcher's Initiatives03:38 Jake Barber's Revelations05:22 CE-5 and Public Disclosure07:16 Community Reactions and Ethical Questions15:39 Garry Nolan's Scientific Perspective20:56 Technological Worldview and Ethical Implications30:03 Heidegger's Philosophy and Technology39:20 The Value of Human Life in a Technological Age40:17 The Ethical Implications of Technological Intelligence43:55 The Concept of Hyper Objects and UFO Phenomena45:54 The Great Filter and Technological Surveillance47:52 The Role of Experience in Understanding Phenomena51:19 The Spectacle and Mediated Reality56:09 Dwelling vs. Dominating: A Philosophical Approach To Contact01:05:31 The Importance of Bracketing in Phenomenology01:07:57 Balancing Speed and Methodology in Disclosure01:11:00 Concluding Thoughts and Future Directions

Why is Endicott playing in the first round? Why is Ursinus? Why does Centre get a bye? Why does Salisbury have to face a 6 or 7 seed in its first game instead of a 9 or 10? When the teams are already identified and all boiled down to a number value by a mathematical equation, the bracket is all we can talk about, and go figure, sometimes decisions are still being made by geography. Sometimes the NPI ranking of a team doesn't match up with what the general Division III fandom thinks, or what our voters think. And it doesn't seem like we would learn anything from talking to the NCAA committee chair, so we decided instead to interview the algorithm. Or in this case, we talked to Logan Hansen about who the last teams in and first teams out were, how John Carroll and Mary Hardin-Baylor made their big jumps up the NPI ranking, and exactly how much of an impact the UW-River Falls win over UW-Oshkosh on Saturday had -- it's more than you probably think. And it's way more insightful than most committee chair conversations, so we hope you agree. Plus, we chat with Linfield coach Joe Smith for Fast Five, about west coast D-III football, his team's two-quarterback system, and the Wildcats finally being able to put last season's loss to Whitworth in Week 11 behind them. And we take a number of your questions in our mailbag segment. The D3football.com

In today's episode, John R. Miles explores the concept of choice bracketing, a powerful framework that shows how the seemingly small decisions we make every day can compound over time to significantly impact our future. Drawing on the real-life examples of Jeff Bezos and Warren Buffett, we discuss how big-picture thinking helps avoid reactive, short-term choices in favor of intentional actions that align with long-term goals. The episode breaks down the science of decision-making, focusing on how balancing short-term comfort with long-term success requires shifting from narrow, isolated choices to a broader, portfolio of choices approach. You'll learn how Bezos applied the regret minimization framework to launch Amazon and how Buffett's investment philosophy is rooted in viewing life through a long-term lens.Link to the full show notes:  https://passionstruck.com/choice-bracketing-portfolio-of-choices/In this episode, you will learn:How choice bracketing helps shift from reactive to intentional decision-making.The compounding effect of small, daily choices over time. How Jeff Bezos used the regret minimization framework to make life-altering decisions.Warren Buffett's long-term approach to balancing short-term comfort with future gains. The importance of viewing your life as a portfolio of decisions.Practical strategies for aligning your choices with long-term goals in your career, health, and personal growth. How to balance immediate gratification with sustainable success through big-picture thinking.Sponsors:Babbel: Master a new language with Babbel's comprehensive learning system. What Is Auto Exposure Bracketing (AEB)?Auto exposure bracketing. What is this? Do I need to know about this? It sounds rather tricky. This is the answery bit.Auto exposure bracketing is the process of taking multiple photos at the same time to capture a wider dynamic range, a wider range of lights and darks. More of what we can see with our eyes. When using auto exposure bracketing the camera automatically takes three photos, one the correct exposure, one underexposed photo, and one overexposed photo. The amount of under and over-exposure is set by the photographer. The camera changes the aperture or shutter speed for the under and overexposed photos, which is determined by the picture mode that is being used.Auto exposure bracketing is also known as AEB and is defined as an advanced operation by Canon. But don't worry, it is not as bad as it sounds. And I will tell you what you need to know and no more, all in plain English. In this episode, I tell you.·         What auto exposure bracketing is.·         Why you might need it.·         Why your camera is not as good as you are.·         How to use AEB.·         When to not use AEB.·         And finally, what I do.What is not to love? Something New Every WeekSomething New Every Week (or SNEW's for short) feature photography's best of the best....Listen on: Apple Podcasts SpotifySupport the showGet your question answeredThis is what my podcast is all about, answering your photography questions - just click here. Better Fuji Photos Episode 5: All About Fujifilm Film Simulation Bracketing I gave you a one-year challenge in Episode 1, a challenge to pre-process your photos rather than post-processing them, which will help you become a better photographer and make the most out of your time. One tool to help you with that is Fujifilm's Film Simulation Bracketing mode. This episode will cover what this mode does, when to use it, some gotchas, and how to set it up. Learn more about Fujifilm's film simulations in this free film simulation course: https://photocourses.link/filmsims The setup can be a bit convoluted with the different camera models, so here's a quick summary: Cameras with a mode dial that has BKT on it: Go to the Shooting Setting menu > Drive Setting > BKT Setting > Film Simulation BKT to set up the three film simulations. To select this as the active bracketing mode, go to the Shooting Setting menu > Drive Setting > BKT Setting > BKT Select and select Film Simulation BKT. Set your drive dial to BKT to enter the bracketing mode. Set the drive dial back to S to exit the bracketing mode. Cameras with a drive mode button on the back: Go to the Shooting Setting menu > Film Simulation BKT to set up the three film simulations. Press the drive mode button on the back of the camera and select Film Simulation BKT, which may be under a BKT submenu. Set the drive back to Still Image to exit the bracketing mode. Programming shortcuts My Menu: User Setting > My Menu Setting > Add Items > add Film Simulation BKT (cameras with drive button) or Drive Setting (cameras with drive dial) Custom control (cameras with drive dial only): Hold Disp/Back button and add Drive Setting to any control Accompanying web article: https://www.jmpeltier.com/fujifilm-simulation-bracketing/ Fujifilm Photographer Membership: https://photocourses.link/fujimembers. If you want a consistent flow of qualified leads you need to listen to my mini-course with Marc Levesque and learn how a professional PPC campaign can get your company's name in front of new prospects ready to buy your services. Once you have their attention Marc gives you the secrets to converting those clicks into qualified leads using the right landing pages. What You'll Hear in This Episode: PPC is pay-per-click. Most listeners of this show will fall into one of three categories: You've done this yourself but did not get results. You hired someone to do it for you but it did not work out. You're not familiar with PPC. Marc provides an overview of PPC: Understand how search engines work. Pay Google to serve your ads on the first page of search results. Using keywords that potential clients might use to find your ads are very important. You pay for clicks whenever a potential client clicks on your ad. Marc addresses budgeting concerns: What will you need to spend on this? What can you expect in terms of results? The real metric you need to consider is the “customer acquisition cost”. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is optimizing your website and/or content so you can get those pages indexed or showing up on Google so that over time you earn more traffic. The goal of PPC is ultimately to instill confidence and convince a prospective client that they should reach out and have a conversation with you. It's important to use a landing page, which is basically a page on your website that is stripped of everything that is not relevant to what the consumer just searched for. It's the landing page where you want to convert your traffic. You want them to call you, to fill out a form, or do a live chat. After a while, you'll get a good indication of what your closing rate is, net sales per lead, and all the metrics that you need to understand. Generating a lead is only half the equation; capitalizing on the leads is more important. Marc shares how if you're going to pay money for these leads, you have to respond quickly and with quality. Differentiate yourself from the competition. He offers some tips on how to field these very important calls. If a lead is not an ideal lead for you, be sure to refer to a specialist who is a better fit and try to make the introduction. Build a database of contacts that you can reach out to. Bracketing is the idea of giving people options. Dave discusses the problem with lead aggregators. The myth of exclusive leads. Marc relates the value of retargeting. Leveraging PPC to get more traffic so you can generate more leads and having more control over your marketing adds predictability to your business. Referrals remain the best kind of lead you can have. Five things that all successful businesses do. Ways to increase your revenues.   Links: For Tips, Strategies, and Free Downloads! Auto Exposure Bracketing - What Is It? How Can It Help You?  Hi and welcome to Episode 113 of the Photography Explained podcast.I'm your host Rick, and in each episode I will try to explain one photographic thing to you in plain English in less than 10 minutes (ish) without the irrelevant details. What I tell you is based on my lifetime of photographic experience. And not Google. No Google required but I did need my camera which was nice. Before I go on I need your help. I need your questions to answer. More on this at the end. Here is the answery bit.Auto exposure bracketing is taking more than one photo at the same time, with different exposures. The first photo is taken using the correct exposure, using the camera settings set by the camera or the photographer. Subsequent photos are taken automatically by the camera with different exposures, by changing the aperture or shutter speed by an amount set by the photographer.HDR is high dynamic range.HDR Photography is not cheating, and not a bad thing. And yes it is ok to use it.Listen for more, or check out the transcript and even the blog post - so many ways to find out more! What's next?Glad you asked!
