This week's podcast comes to you from less-than-sunny Glasgow, which may explain the slightly different sound quality. But the chat is up to its usual standards as we speculate on what new Building Commissioner James Sherrard will bring to the job as he fills the substantial shoes recently vacated by the redoubtable David Chandler. Then we have a look at the recent revelations about Netstrata allegedly slipping old receipts and invoices into their strata schemes' portals. This has led to some strata owners realising for the first time how much extra they have been paying for compulsory insurance, thanks to hidden brokerage fees and commissions. And we speculate on what the next strata scandal will be – the potential misuse of “full delegation” clauses in contracts, which allow strata management firms to take over the running of strata schemes with little or no consultation with their owners. That's all in this week's Flat Chat Wrap.____________________________________________________Flat Chat is all about apartment living, especially in Australia.Find us on Facebook and Twitter and the Flat Chat website.Send comments and questions to mail@flatchat.com.au.Register to ask and answer questions about apartment living anonymously on the website.Recorded by Jimmy Thomson & Sue Williams; Transcribed by Otter.ai.Find out more about Sue Williams and Jimmy Thomson on their websites.
We start this week's podcast by looking back at the previous episode which has broken all our records for regular downloads. It's not surprising really, given that it was a chat with ABC TV Four Corners investigative reporter Linton Besser about how and why he pulled together the Strata Trap report. At more than 450 downloads after only a week, this one will run and run, as they say in showbiz. This week we look at another of strata's big problems – defects – through the eyes of Acting Building Commissioner Matt Press. What's happening with defects now that Building Commissioner David Chandler has retired? One thing that hasn't changed is the Building Commission's tendency to use initials, acronyms and fancy techie terminology. So, just in case you are wondering, the “LDI” referred to means Latent Defects Insurance or it could be DLI (Decennial Liability Insurance).Either way, it's a 10-year insurance against defects that the better developers are able to take out. Maybe they could call it Defects Insurance. Too on the nose?Apart from that, Matt Press assures us that even though David Chandler has gone and Project Intervene has been absorbed into the Building Commission's complaints process, the good work in making sure apartment owners get what they paid for continues unabated. That's all in this week's Flat Chat Wrap. ____________________________________________________Flat Chat is all about apartment living, especially in Australia.Find us on Facebook and Twitter and the Flat Chat website.Send comments and questions to mail@flatchat.com.au.Register to ask and answer questions about apartment living anonymously on the website.Recorded by Jimmy Thomson & Sue Williams; Transcribed by Otter.ai.Find out more about Sue Williams and Jimmy Thomson on their websites.

Physics and math professor David Chandler discusses the evidence related to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks that sent The Twin Towers plummeting to the ground, claiming the lives of thousands of innocent Americans. In his research, David has found disturbing hallmarkers of demolition, as well as plenty of on-site evidence - like steel - that was allegedly immediately removed from New York and melted down to make ships or sent overseas to China. Traces of nano thermite found at the scene - used in demolition - points to something potentially even more sinister than plane hijackings. David gives credible insight into why our government could have orchestrated this inside terrorist attack. Can we trust our government to tell us the truth about 9/11? TAKEAWAYS Nanothermite will melt through iron and steel The investigation into 9/11 was delayed for over a year after the attacks People were kept away from Ground Zero, which thwarted any potential on-the-ground investigations of the crime scene The only thing left behind was dust, which David says contained traces of active explosives
On September 11, 2001, the world stood still as The Twin Towers collapsed in New York City after being hit by hijacked passenger planes. But the truth behind the attacks may not be as black and white as people think. David Chandler is a retired high school teacher and a physics and math college professor, who has closely studied the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the physics surrounding the horrific event that resulted in so much tragic loss of life. Did the planes cause the buildings to collapse? Or was it something else? Is it even possible that the towers could go into rapid free fall from the impact of the planes alone…or is there more to the story? David shares his observations and the scientific evidence regarding how The Twin Towers and Building 7 were destroyed through his jaw-dropping research. INTERVIEW + TRACKLIST > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/strategy/ American producer @strategydickow steps up to contribute the 382nd edition of the IA MIX Series delivering a stunning chill-out and downtempo podcast for expansive headphone listening. Across a 20-plus year career, and as many releases, Paul Dickow operates at the crossroads of ambient, dub, and electronica. His most recent Strategy album, 'The Wet Room', his 20th album to date, was released in November 2023 via Community Library, the label Paul co-runs with David Chandler. It feels both timeless and of its time, fusing elements of climate anxiety with a heady aura of leftfield sonics. Throughout his discography, Strategy has collaborated with esteemed labels including Kranky, 100% Silk, and Peak Oil, among others, as well as operating his own Community Library imprint, for an output as vast and varied as it is consistently stellar. He's as comfortable crafting hardware-focused, DIY techno as he is spinning long form experimental suites. Strategy's mix is as wide-ranging, unpredictable, and eclectic as his music, spanning Humpbacks, Seefeel, Laurie Spiegel, and Strategy himself. It's an ideal soundtrack for expansive headphone listening or the strangest, grooviest pool party in the neighbourhood. In addition to the mix, we asked Paul all about his history, the Portland music scene, and tour memories.
In this week's Flat Chat Wrap podcast we look at a report that building commissioner David Chandler has issued a stop-work order at a Wollongong construction site after structural defects were discovered in a 149-unit apartment block.According to a story in on the ABC news site, Mr Chandler said the prohibition order followed the detection of a number of issues in the Crownview building in the last few years with $37m already spent on remediation but new problems with critical cable tensioning were discovered during remediation work.As a result, he announced that he was pushing to have regional offices across the state because standards are so lax outside of Sydney – and we have a take on that too.We glance in the direction of government moves to nudge baby strata managers to get themselves qualified and gain expertise in a bit more than gouging Schedule B fees from unsuspecting apartment owners. And we look at news that already has the trendoids of Sydney's inner-west suburbs in a tizz; the NSW government wants councils in these areas close to the city centre to stop blocking low-to-medium rise apartment blocks.Add that to the Greens' demand that the Federal Government should build 360,000 homes to be available for low-cost rents and purchases and all those former workers cottages in streets with no parking will be swallowed up … or probably not.We look at what you really want in the shops in your block and a slight change of direction for Great Escapes. That's all in this week's Flat Chat Wrap.____________________________________________________Flat Chat is all about apartment living, especially in Australia.Find us on Facebook and Twitter and the Flat Chat website.Send comments and questions to mail@flatchat.com.au.Register to ask and answer questions about apartment living anonymously on the website.Recorded by Jimmy Thomson & Sue Williams; Transcribed by Otter.ai; Transcription tidied up and sensified by Raphie.Find out more about Sue Williams and Jimmy Thomson on their websites.
It's Thursday, and we typically reserve Thursdays for talking about some of the biggest R's strutting around the net. Today is no exception! Ray Devito has already managed to cause a bit of a bumble with his Hackamania travel plans, and Patrick would love your opinion on who screwed things up. Ray is also in the middle of planning two separate roasts, both of which will be the same roast, and both of which will be done to an audience of no one, or maybe someone, but probably not anyone. Shoud Ray bring the roast to NLO? David Chandler is back and you can almost hear Aaron Imholte make white in his panties from here. Steel Toe Morning Show is basically a daily meme show now, and today's sad glimpse in to Aaron and April Imholte's relationship was another cringe banger. Don't miss your NLO this morning! ...
After three pods in a row about Mascot Towers, we decided you (and we) needed a break so we are heading off to the seaside – figuratively, not literally – to see how property prices are doing on the North and South coasts of NSW.One report has said that prices in some coastal areas have bounced back more than those in the city, while others have said there are bargains to be had outside (but not too far) the city limits. So what's going on? We know office workers are being encouraged to go back to their offices and hybrid working hours are becoming popular.Maybe all that means that Seachange properties that are within commutable distance are holding the line while weekenders – properties that are outside, say two hours from town – are going back to being what they were intended for and dropping in price accordingly. After that, we can't avoid Mascot Towers completely and we'll be looking at who the winners (if any) and losers are as they hurtle towards the owners vote to accept or reject the David Chandler-wrangled offer early next month. That's all in the Flat Chat wrap____________________________________________________Flat Chat is all about apartment living, especially in Australia.Find us on Facebook and Twitter and the Flat Chat website.Send comments and questions to mail@flatchat.com.au.Register to ask and answer questions about apartment living anonymously on the website.Recorded by Jimmy Thomson & Sue Williams; Transcribed by Otter.ai; Transcription tidied up and sensified by Raphie.Find out more about Sue Williams and Jimmy Thomson on their websites.
We're back and this is an absolute blockbuster, which, considering the topic, is an oddly ironic term.Last week Sue had an exclusive interview with NSW Building Commissioner David Chandler about the benighted Mascot Towers – the building that started crumbling about five years ago and whose evacuated former residents have been living in rental accommodations since.Did I say five years? Turns out the towers had defects long before that. So how did David Chandler wrangle a possible (read probable) resolution between resident-owners who just want out, commercial lot owners and residents who want to stay, investors, banks and strata lenders? You could read our very own Sue Williams' exclusive report in the Sydney Morning Herald … or Jimmy's column in the Australian Financial Review, but first listen to this merely fascinating podcast where we hear David Chandler himself, make sense of it all.____________________________________________________Flat Chat is all about apartment living, especially in Australia.Find us on Facebook and Twitter and the Flat Chat website.Send comments and questions to mail@flatchat.com.au.Register to ask and answer questions about apartment living anonymously on the website.Recorded by Jimmy Thomson & Sue Williams; Transcribed by Otter.ai; Transcription tidied up and sensified by Raphie.Find out more about Sue Williams and Jimmy Thomson on their websites.
It's a packed Wrap this week with a lot happening in and around strata. Global credit rating and data analysis agency Equifax – the people who measure how many of David Chandler's gold stars developers should get – have conducted a survey into how confident apartment buyers are in the properties they plan to purchase. The answer is “not very” … unless they have a few of those highly sought-after gold stars to add some shine to their sales spin. The Mascot Towers saga has taken another twist with owners refused permission to terminate the strata scheme with a view to walking away from their mounting debts. What now for this benighted block and its emotionally and financially broken owners? And talking of defective buildings, what does the supercharging of NSW Building Commissioner David Chandler's powers in legislation that's about to become law actually mean. And finally we celebrate a travel writing award for Sue and join her on our Lock Up and Leave “Pick of the Trips”, by train across India – recalling a journey she took with her late Mum.____________________________________________________Flat Chat is all about apartment living, especially in Australia.Find us on Facebook and Twitter and the Flat Chat website.Send comments and questions to mail@flatchat.com.au.Register to ask and answer questions about apartment living anonymously on the website.Recorded by Jimmy Thomson & Sue Williams; Transcribed by Otter.ai; Transcription tidied up and sensified by Raphie.Find out more about Sue Williams and Jimmy Thomson on their websites.

Back-to-School and Hands-on with the Physics Tool Kit!Come and learn first-hand with the number one 9/11 physics teacher, Mr. Chandler, in the physics lab class! You will be seated in his class as a student in this easy classroom hour! Each student will earn one honorary high school credit (good for getting you out of one hour of FEMA detention — you'll need all you can get.) Mr. Chandler will teach us all about his 9/11 Tracker Tutorial — with an overview of the "Kit" that he assembled in order to enable us ordinary students to do our own measurements of the 9/11 building-related events directly from video data. He will be demonstrating how we can also get our hands dirty with physics — working directly with video clips as our “data”. The “9/11 Physics Tool Kit” can be downloaded from 911speakout.org/physics-lab at Mr. Chandler's website 911speakout.org. It contains the highest quality videos, calibration data, and instructions for using “Tracker”, which is itself a free download from the "Open Source Physics" project. He will demonstrate The Kit using his (included) examples of known demolitions, including Balzac Vitry, WTC 7 and WTC 1. Once we students learn to use the tools we can actually apply them to any other suitable video, if for instance:You are using a stable camera on a tripodThe subject is in movement perpendicular to, or nearly so, the line of sight (the line between the camera and the object). The subject, or another object at the same distance, contains something of known size for calibration purposes.David Chandler has a Bachelor's degree in physics, a Master's degree in education, and also one in Mathematics! A few years ago he retired from 35 years of teaching physics and mathematics at the high school and college levels. Since about 2007 he has been active as a researcher with the "science wing" of the 9/11 Truth Movement. For a number of years he worked directly with Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth and served with me on its board of directors. He is currently the Coordinator of Scientists for 9/11 Truth. David became involved with studying the building collapses at the World Trade Center when he realized that he could use the frame tracking software he used in his physics teaching to measure various velocities and accelerations associated with the 9/11 building collapses. He is best known for his measurements demonstrating the absolute freefall of World Trade Center Building 7, proving that the NIST claims about that building's downward movement features were false. His work led to NIST changing its final report, where they actually admitted freefall, even though they continue to deny the clear implications of such. David has authored and co-authored a number of scientific papers related to 9/11, including: “Destruction of the World Trade Center North Tower” and “Fundamental Physics”. He has also created a large number of videos analyzing various aspects of the World Trade Center Collapses (including the ones he made custom for own my presentation 9/11: Blueprint for Truth. He maintains a website with his own research in collaboration with several other researchers at 911speakout.org.
Eric Sandstrom is firmly convinced that no planes crashed at either Shanksville or the Pentagon on 9/11. Although this is not a position that I seriously entertain, Eric and I have corresponded over the years and I have invited him on the show to explain how he reached his conclusions - and how they can be justified in the face of what I see as overwhelming evidence to the contrary. We wander down some well-trodden tracks in this week's podcast, but there are a few twists and turns to keep you on your toes.We dissect the arguments in a long missive from Airbnb about why it's not their fault that there's a housing crisis. The basic flaw in their argument – we need to build more homes (true) - is that building homes takes years but banning short-term lets could put more than 60,000 houses and apartments back on the market overnight. We look at the benighted Aurora building in Melbourne and claims that non-English speaking owners didn't know what they were voting for when they signed proxy forms. And that segues into a discussion about how to get anyone to read anything to do with strata, ever. As usual, we have a couple of cunning plans. And we explore new laser goggles which will apparently let builders spot defects even faster than David Chandler.
Corey Nugent is the CEO of Resilience Insurance, the only insurer currently offering "decennial liability" or "latent defects insurance" in Australia. Corey shares: - the catastrophic financial and emotional toll that building defects extract from strata owners, - why insurance was always part of David Chandler's solution to the building defects crisis, - the precise questions that purchasers buying strata apartments off-the-plan need to be asking at the display suite this weekend, and more.

Did you Miss our Tribute to The 'Grandfather of the 9/11 Truth Movement'?It was with a very heavy heart that we shared the news that our friend and mentor in the great 9/11 Truth work, Prof. David Ray Griffin, had succumbed to his long battle with cancer and passed away on November 25, 2022.This was a very special livestream tribute to the 'Grandfather of the 9/11 Truth Movement' on Friday, December 10, hosted by Elizabeth Woodworth, myself, and my wife & assistant Gail Gage. Our panel of distinguished guests payed their respects to this giant of an intellectual, this author of no less than 50 books (15 on the subject of 9/11 truth) include Peter Dale Scott, Paul Craig Roberts, Fran Shure, Barbara Honegger, Niels Harrit, Steven Jones, David Chandler, and Ken Jenkins. My personal reflection:The Day My Life Changed ForeverHis voice was deceptively gentle on the radio that afternoon, March 29, 2006. I had by chance turned to the FM station KPFA, on my way back from a construction observation duty in the San Francisco Bay Area. There was a very brave talk show host, Bonnie Faulkner, who was the only one at the station willing to take deep dives into exposing the Deep State, but I didn't know about that, or her, yet – nor of her mysterious guest that day, David Ray Griffin. She was asking him to share with her audience his findings, having just discovered Graeme MacQueen's deep research into the 500 pages of explosive testimonies of the Oral Histories of hundreds of 9/11 first responders – released by New York City under court order in August of 2005.This professor of theology carefully read many of these eyewitness statements of explosions, one after another. I found myself entering a state of cognitive dissonance. I had never heard of any alternative theory about how the Twin Tower's came down. I couldn't drive and listen to this at the same time. It required all of my brain power to try to process his message. The testimony was powerful – and already contradicting my very world view. I pulled my car into the parking lot and just sat and listened – in horror actually. I thought I knew pretty well what happened on 9/11. I was a Reagan Republican and wanted to go into Afghanistan and Iraq and get those bastards who did this to us.But here was this very well-spoken, seemingly objective, elderly gentleman, telling me about beams flying out of the towers laterally, dripping with molten metal, impaling themselves into buildings hundreds of feet away. He even tried to tell me that a third tower came down – one that wasn't even hit by a plane! “What?! I'm an architect! I would know if a third tower came down! Either this guy is the biggest con artist – or I had been conned by my government – and I just couldn't go there – not yet anyway. I would prove him wrong. I went to see him the next night at the Grand Lake Theater in Oakland, CA. But I was late. And he had attracted a sell-out crowd of 600. I couldn't get in.I could listen to him on what they were calling a “livestream” (brand new back then!). What I heard, online that night, was a deeply moving presentation that covered a whole lot more ground than I had heard on the radio, and it was delivered with a simple logic that I couldn't fight. David Ray Griffin stepped aside and let his evidence do the work. I was in trouble. By the time he was done with me, I felt like I had been turned upside down and inside out. I was confused – raw and vulnerable, yet this had turned to anger in the days and weeks to come, and the anger turned to action, as I independently verified his outrageous insinuations about my government and the media who had lied to me on a colossal scale. It was his unique unassuming style that had strip

Director of the UK National Space Centre, Anu Ojha, attributes claims the Lunar landings were hoaxed to a ‘seductive conspiratorial method of thinking', which he asserts poses ‘a real threat to our democratic way of life'. David Chandler OAM was appointed NSW Building Commissioner in 2019 after an impressive forty-year career in the Australian construction industry. David is improving the quality of construction and restoring trust in the industry through leading the delivery of Construct NSW Reform Strategy in collaboration with the sector. The NSW Reform Strategy has involved in modernising the Building Regulator, shifting focus from reactive to proactive, with a core reliance on digital capability. We talk to David on a number if issues including where are we now in relation to flammable cladding in NSW and where do we need to be, what are some of the areas that building owners may rethink to address their cladding replacement and why, what are some of the biggest challenges facing the building sector when it comes to both cladding issues as well as quality of final build and how are residential apartments being inspected using the NSW Residential Apartment Buildings Act powers showing up the issues identified in the recent inspections on residential apartment buildings in the Wollongong, and what results have they yielded to date?
It seems strange to me that throughout all human history, if anyone had told you man had been to the Moon, you'd have been a gullible fool to believe them. That position completely reverses on July 20th 1969, when all of a sudden you'd be a gullible fool not to believe them. Is it really that obvious we went to the Moon? Sometimes it takes a sensational event to bring attention to major problems. Take, for example, the evacuation of approximately 3,000 people in Sydney's Opal Tower and Mascot Towers. Through these two stories dominating the headlines, Sydney's dysfunctional planning and development system has been highlighted. How big is this problem? How can both ordinary citizens and our governments address this issue? Laura Crommelin of UNSW shares with us her findings on the research she has conducted into building defects in strata, the truth about building defects, problems with design and construct contracts, and everything about the hazards that may be present in a building. Hello everyone, this is another abridged interview from The Darkened Hour podcast. Adam Fitzgerald and I were speaking with David Chandler, who is one of the principle physicists proposing a controlled demolition took place at the Twin Towers on September 11th. I spent time collating all the criticisms I could find of David's work and attempted to put them to him. David attempted to talk us through the issues in a way that we, as non-physicists, could understand. I wanted to start by finding out a little more about David's background, so he explains how he first came to see the United States as an Imperial power.
