Step into the heart of Disney dining magic as we take you behind the scenes at Chef Mickey's breakfast buffet in Disney's Contemporary Resort. Imagine savoring warm cinnamon rolls (possibly the best we've ever tasted!) while Mickey Mouse himself stops by for a selfie – all with the iconic Disney monorail gliding overhead through the soaring Grand Canyon Concourse. What makes Chef Mickey's special isn't just the food – though the bountiful breakfast buffet delivers with everything from Mickey waffles to apple-filled beignets and a delicious hash brown casserole. The real magic happens when the Fab Five (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto) make their rounds, creating personal moments with guests of all ages. We were particularly impressed with how attentive the characters were, even circling back to interact with our table when a family member was briefly at the buffet.Unlike some character dining experiences that can overwhelm with noise and commotion, Chef Mickey's strikes the perfect balance – festive enough to feel special but calm enough to actually enjoy conversations with your travel companions. Characters move efficiently through the restaurant, typically meeting each table within a 15-20 minute window, which means you can focus on both the interactions and your meal without constant interruptions. At $58 per adult and $37 per child (plus tax and gratuity), this character breakfast represents a significant investment, but the combination of abundant food options, character moments, and the convenience of monorail access to Magic Kingdom makes it a worthwhile consideration for your Disney vacation. Whether you're revisiting a Disney dining tradition or creating new family memories, Chef Mickey's remains one of those quintessential Disney experiences that continues to delight guests decades after it first opened.Ready to make Chef Mickey's part of your next Disney adventure? We're taking you along on a whirlwind couple of days at Walt Disney World—complete with friends, food, drinks, and a few unexpected twists (including a surprise snake sighting near the Skyliner… yep, that happened). We kicked things off with snacks and sips at Bar Riva to see some Cast Member friends alongside our good friends Lucie and Caleb, and the fun just kept rolling from there. We did a little shopping in Pandora (yes, we bought rings), used an Individual Lightning Lane for Cosmic Rewind, and bounced around resorts chasing dinner plans from California Grill to Steakhouse 71 to Three Bridges—where we finally found our perfect Plan C, great food, and some awesome cast member interactions. We also squeezed in some magic at Magic Kingdom to ride Haunted Mansion, placed a special hat embroidery order, and spent a rainy afternoon at Disney Springs catching up, indulging in Salt & Straw, and hiding out at Jock Lindsey's. The trip wrapped up with poolside snacks at Siestas, an evening at Dahlia Lounge, and a final stop at Jeff's Bagels on the way home—because you know we weren't leaving without breakfast handled. It was a trip full of laughs, detours, and Disney magic, and we can't wait to share it with you.MEI-Travel – Expertise. Our 2025 road trip to Naughty N'awlins kicks off with a flight to Disney World alongside Nick & Elizabeth. We dive into the reality of Disney: it's exhausting, not as glamorous as you'd think, and definitely not “sexy.” But there's a silver lining, there's something truly special about experiencing Disney with your closest friends and seeing them enjoy something you love so much. Once we've had our fill of Disney, we hit the road to Panama City Beach. Not even an 8-hour traffic jam can stop us from having a great time. When we finally arrive at our AirBNB, we're pleasantly surprised by how nice it is, especially the bunk beds... where G might just get a chance to live out one of his many fantasies. Whether you're jetting off to a sunny beach in the Caribbean, exploring the misty cliffs of Ireland, or exploring the rugged Pacific Northwest coastline, coastal travel style is a category all its own. Not all Coasts are Tropical, How to Match Your Coastal Style to Your DestinationAt 1923 Main Street®, we know that packing for the coast isn't just about tossing in a swimsuit and calling it a day. It's about curating a wardrobe that reflects your destination's climate, culture and vibe—without sacrificing comfort or style.Let's break it down: how coastal style differs from your typical city vacation (or even a Disney getaway), and how to build your perfect shoreline look, from fabrics and colors to layering pieces and graphic tees.City vs. Coast: It's a Vibe ShiftWhen you're packing for a city trip or a Disney vacation, you're often focused on versatility, movement and weather changes over long walking days. Maybe denim, athleisure and structured pieces come to mind so you can layer for days exploring art museums, park hopping, or indulging in foodie adventures. But when it comes to the coast, your suitcase needs to shift gears.Coastal travel style is about ease, texture and embracing the natural environment around you. Whether it's breezy and balmy or misty and moody, coastal destinations call for styles that move with the wind and echo the tones of the sea, sand or cliffs. The Staples of Coastal Travel Style1. Light, Breathable FabricsTropical coasts (like the Caribbean or Florida Keys): For warm weather tropical coasts, linen shirts, cotton sundresses, gauzy kaftans and soft-wash t-shirts are all great options. You want breathability and pieces that look better a little rumpled from the sandy beach, sea breeze or salty air.Cooler coasts (like the Pacific Northwest or the Irish coastline): Layering becomes key in these types of environments. Look for organic cottons, waffle-knit thermals and cozy hoodies. Lightweight waterproof jackets are also a must-have, or at least a consideration depending on where and when you're traveling.2. Soft, Coastal ColorsCoastal destinations are nature's own neutral color palette. Your wardrobe should reflect the coastal colors of your region. Consider the following:Beachy tropical coasts: Go for whites, sands, sea-glass blues, coral and palm green.Northern or rustic coastlines: Think misty greys, deep ocean navy, sage, foggy lavender and stormy teal. Our 1923 Main Street® coastal collection of graphic tees and hoodies often draws from these palettes, with colors designed to complement ocean horizons and shoreline sunsets of all shapes and sizes.3. Comfortable LayersWeather on the coast (any coast) can change with the wind (and often does). Be prepared for the inevitable and always bring:A light sweatshirt or hoodie (especially one of our super-soft, travel-ready 1923 Main Street® designs)A long-sleeve tee for layering on cooler morningsA light scarf or wrap that can double as a beach blanket or an impromptu windbreakerDestination-Specific Coastal StyleTropical or Warm Weather Beaches For warm weather beaches, like the Bahamas, Florida, California, Maui, the South of France and so on, consider the following must-haves.Pack: Swimwear, linen cover-ups, wide-brim hats, flip flops or espadrillesStyle tip: Go with relaxed fits and graphic t-shirts with a vintage surf vibe or palm-print accents.Pacific Northwest Whether it's the Oregon Coast or Vancouver Island, you'll want to pack for a whole different style of coastline.Pack: Waterproof hiking boots, thermal leggings, cozy fleece-lined hoodies and even knit hats, in some casesStyle tip: Layer a classic 1923 Main Street® hoodie over a graphic tee for coastal walks or campfire eveningsUK or Scandinavian CoastlinesThe natural beauty and rugged terrain of these northern coasts beg for a little unique style of their own. Consider the following:Pack: A windproof trench or raincoat, wool socks, breathable base layers and sturdy walking shoesStyle tip: Moody coastal vibes are perfect for darker-toned sweatshirts and subtle, literary-inspired travel graphicsOne Last Pro Tip: Dress with the Daydream in MindCoastal vacations aren't just a break from the norm—they're a mood. So your wardrobe should feel like vacation, even if you're just grabbing coffee before a morning paddle or reading by the dunes. That's why our 1923 Main Street® travel-themed shirts and sweatshirts are made to carry the feeling of travel with you, from beachside to boardwalk. Designed with premium, lightweight fabrics and custom graphics inspired by wanderlust, they're just as perfect for morning flights as they are for sunrise or sunset strolls.Wherever your next coastal adventure takes you, let your style flow with the tides—effortless, elevated and endlessly inspired by the shoreline.Check out our latest coastal-inspired travel gear to bring that breezy vibe wherever you go.Shop at 1923 Main StreetThank you for listening to the Travel Style Podcast at 1923MainStreet.com.Shop unique and original travel inspired and subtle Disney travel clothing, including t-shirts, sweatshirt, hoodies and more at 1923 Main Street.Follow along on X, Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook.Thank you for listening and always remember to roam freely and wear boldly.Mike Belobradic and Amelia Belobradic--Media provided by Jamendo
Fan Mail Me BrrrruuuuunnndenBodies betray us in the most embarrassing ways as we age, and nobody talks about it quite like Detto and Casey on this hilarious episode of Sockeytome. What starts as a confession about Detto's inability to swallow pills spirals into a remarkable journey through the indignities of growing older. You'll hear the play-by-play of Detto's dramatic face-plant at first base during a softball game – complete with torn hamstring and dirt-covered dignity. It's a moment so perfectly emblematic of that jarring disconnect between what our minds think we can do and what our aging bodies actually deliver. The conversation veers into strange territory when the hosts dissect a viral story about Disney World's dress code policies. After a woman claimed she was forced to purchase an expensive t-shirt to cover her sports bra, Detto can't help but compare it to his own experience of being unceremoniously ejected from Disney for jumping into a lake. The double standards! The injustice! The alligators he narrowly avoided!Perhaps most revealing is when our hosts answer listener questions about their most embarrassing habits and weird rituals. From Detto's meticulous requirements for perfectly flat peanut butter surfaces to Casey's private conversations with her mirror reflection, these quirky confessions remind us that we all develop strange behaviors that would baffle our friends if witnessed. And yes, you'll learn far more than you ever expected about what happens when someone walks in on Detto during personal time. This episode offers the perfect blend of cringe-worthy confessions and laugh-out-loud moments that will make you feel infinitely better about your own embarrassing quirks. We're stepping outside the Disney bubble and heading deep into the heart of Texas for an unforgettable trip to Austin. That's right—we swapped MagicBands for cowboy boots and spent the weekend soaking up everything Austin has to offer, from mouthwatering food to meaningful moments. We're talking Michelin-starred barbecue brisket that melts in your mouth, spicy chicken from a food truck named Spicy Boys, an incredible cowgirl hat experience at Kendra Scott's Yellow Rose boutique, and a dive bar that turned out to be surprisingly sober-friendly. Plus, opening up about a powerful personal milestone—reaching 475 days of sobriety—and how a three-hour Blue October concert helped finally deliver the clarity.Whether it's floating in freezing cold Barton Springs, indulging in gourmet ice cream, or spotting a puppy in an Uber, this was a weekend filled with unexpected joy, emotional growth, and plenty of laughter.
