Food Travel USA with Elizabeth DoughertyAlbum: The TRUTH About Food and Travel 060826 Original Broadcast Date: 06/08/26 It was a packed week in food news and Elizabeth had plenty to say about all of it. WK Kellogg is becoming one of the first major food companies to completely overhaul its packaging around nutrition transparency with a new system called SPOONS, which stands for Simple ingredients, Protein, Outstanding fiber, Other nutritious foods, Nutrients, and Single digit sugars. It rolls out this month on Raisin Bran, Frosted Mini Wheats, Corn Flakes, and Rice Krispies. Kellogg invented the nutrition label. Now they're trying to reinvent what it means. Meanwhile Doritos just launched a Garlic Parm flavor nationwide, and if you were hoping two years of MAHA pressure and a $50 billion market cap hit had taught Frito Lay anything, the ingredient list will disappoint you. Maltodextrin, yeast extract, potassium chloride, citric acid. New flavor. Same playbook. Walmart expanded its 30 minute grocery delivery to 33 markets, now reaching 60 percent of the U.S. population. Chick fil A is shrinking its chicken sandwich with no comment and no apology. Upcycled ingredients, food byproducts that used to be called garbage, are now certified and showing up at Whole Foods, Target, and Costco. And a Virginia woman is suing Outback Steakhouse for $1.5 million after slipping face first on mashed potatoes on the way to the restroom. Virginia is a contributory negligence state. Her attorney has a long road ahead. Elizabeth connects the dots on all of it. FOOD TRAVEL USA FAST FACTS About the Show Using the chassis of a food and travel show, Elizabeth Dougherty has carved out her own lane in Talk Radio, covering the contamination of the food supply and the travel restrictions placed upon us by an overreaching government. The show also covers data protection, self-sufficiency, and homesteading-related topics to help protect us from this evil, corrupt system. With Elizabeth as the host, the show has a very different sound from the typical male-oriented talk radio. The CPG Guys are joined in this episode by Doug VandeVelde, Chief Growth Officer at WK Kellogg Co, manufacturer of an iconic brand portfolio including Kellogg's Frosted Flakes®, Rice Krispies®, Froot Loops®, Kashi®, Special K®, Kellogg's Raisin Bran®, and Bear Naked®.Follow Doug on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/in/doug-vandeveldeFollow WK Kellogg Co online at: https://www.wkkellogg.com/Doug answered these questions:95% of Americans are missing their daily fiber, but nobody goes to a Super Bowl party looking for a "health lecture." Why was 2026 the specific moment you decided to use the world's loudest stage to talk about the "Fiber Gap"?Fiber has historically been marketed as a functional necessity for the "older" demographic. How are you using this campaign to pivot the narrative from a "health trend" to a "tasty daily routine" for everyone from Gen Z to Boomers? You partnered with Gary Vaynerchuk's team to bring humor and high-profile talent to a topic as "unsexy" as gut health. How do you, as a 25-year CPG veteran, balance the "legacy brand guardrails" of Kellogg's with the fast-paced, "attention-first" creative style of VaynerMedia? You chose a regional and streaming-first buy for the Big Game rather than a traditional national spot. As Chief Growth Officer, how did you justify the "reach vs. precision" trade-off to your board?Gut health can be clinical and boring. Talk to me about the decision-making process behind using humor. Does "funny" actually move units of Raisin Bran and Mini-Wheats, or is it just about winning the "Ad Meter" rankings? With a streaming-first approach, you have more data than a traditional TV buy. How is WK Kellogg using real-time signals from this campaign to adjust shelf-level execution in the weeks following the game? You've been in this game for over 25 years. What is the one "old school" CPG rule you had to break to make this 2026 Super Bowl campaign a reality? When you go big on a Super Bowl scale, the pressure on the supply chain is immense. How did the $500M modernization of your plants allow you to "lean in" to this demand spike in a way you couldn't have three years ago? Before the campaign went live, did you use AI-driven "attention analytics" or "predictive creative" tools to ensure the humor would land across different demographics, or was this a "gut-feel" (pun intended) decision? If this "Fiber Gap" campaign succeeds, you aren't just selling boxes of cereal—you're changing a category's trajectory. Is the future of WK Kellogg less about "Breakfast" and more about "Functional Wellness"?CPG Guys Website: http://CPGguys.comFMCG Guys Website: http://FMCGguys.comSheCOMMERCE Website: https://shecommercepodcast.com/Rhea Raj's Website: http://rhearaj.comLara Raj in Katseye: https://www.katseye.world/DISCLAIMER: The content in this podcast episode is provided for general informational purposes only. After more than a decade away from the Big Game, WK Kellogg Co's Raisin Bran made a historic—and hilarious—return for Super Bowl LX. Cassie is joined by JP Severin, Brand Manager at WK Kellogg Co, to pull back the curtain on the "Will Shat" campaign. Starring the legendary William Shatner, the campaign tackled America's "fiber gap" by blending sci-fi nostalgia with irreverent bathroom humor. JP breaks down the decision to forgo a traditional national linear buy in favor of a tactical, streaming-first approach on Peacock and NFL+, and explains how the brand used "staged" paparazzi stunts to build organic hype weeks before kickoff. Key Takeaways:// Why Raisin Bran chose the Super Bowl's massive scale to address the fact that 95% of Americans are fiber-deficient—turning a "boring" health stat into a high-stakes marketing mission.// How humor, wordplay, and a 94-year-old icon were used to destigmatize gut health and make fiber an accessible, talkable topic for a broad audience.// The data-driven "why" behind prioritizing Peacock, NBC Sports, and NFL+ over a traditional national TV spot to reach a younger, digitally-native demographic.// A look at the VaynerMedia-led "pap walks" that put William Shatner in the news cycle weeks before the ad aired, proving that the Super Bowl is now an "ecosystem of screens."// How a massive company like WK Kellogg Co remains agile enough to execute social-first stunts that feel authentic and timely.// JP's advice for Millennial and Gen Z marketers on the one "non-textbook" skill required to manage iconic household names in 2026.Connect with JP: LinkedInWatch the Campaign: YouTube____Join the MHH Collective! But let's be real, the star of the show is our cereal debate. We're pitting legends like Frosted Flakes, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and Raisin Bran against each other in an all-out breakfast brawl. Sharing funny stories and random childhood memories, we discuss what makes each cereal special or downright terrible, all while creating our custom bracket that causes some pretty heated discussions. That's why when it comes to raising your son, understanding his personality is vitally important. Many boys have tons of energy. They love the excitement of sports and outdoor activities. Other kids prefer small groups where they receive individual attention. Whatever your son's personality, take time to talk, laugh, and play with him. By spending time together, you'll better understand how to guide him through childhood to become a godly young man.For more encouragement and parenting advice, visit Trail Life USA or RaisingGodlyBoys.com.

Frosted Flakes, Froot Loops and Raisin Bran. These are just a few of the popular cereals that made the Kellogg Company a global leader in breakfast. But over the decades Kellogg's has expanded far beyond cereal into a snack powerhouse as well, with brands like Pringles, Pop-Tart's and the fan favorite Cheez-It crackers. Trouble is, while its snack business was growing quickly, its cereal business was in decline. Last year, Kellogg's split in to two companies. Its North American cereal business is now a standalone company called WK Kellogg Co, and its snack brands and international cereals are run out of the newly formed Kellanova company. On this week's episode of Leadership Next, Kellanova CEO Steve Cahillane talks to Diane about the tough choice to separate the companies, why Pringles are a hit overseas, and the love affair between Cheez-It and Taco Bell.
