In my previous show about work life balance I lightly discussed becoming an unattached human. And in my podcast on spirituality I discussed ‘letting go'. Many have asked me for more on this topic, so here we go. I believe we can only become happy when we detach ourselves from things we need to be happy, this is where we get our POWER back. In life we attach our happiness to things, to certain outcomes, to certain people, to our perception of how life should go, and it's this that is making us unhappy. If you want to be a free, powerful, happy human, this is the recipe. 00:00 Introduction to Happiness 00:18 The Pursuit of Genuine Happiness 01:42 Detaching from External Influences 02:20 Managing Emotions Effectively 05:43 Breaking Free from Dependencies 09:13 The Power of Self-Belief 16:56 Creating an Energetic Imprint 19:49 Conclusion and Call to Action

Capitalist consumer culture puts a huge emphasis on finding happiness in the external world. But, this hedonic happiness is shown, both in our experience and in the scientific experiments, to be fleeting. In this episode, Ven Tenzin speaks to a second, more durable type of happiness that is not nearly as predicated on external factors -- Eudaimonic happiness, which is derived from what we bring to the world.
I only read it in instagram captions: Quit your job, pack your bags, leave the city. Then you would see those words printed on top of the backdrop photo of a relaxing island, enticing corporate workers tied to their desk jobs, nudging them to look towards the calendar and plan their next vacation. The whole idea was a seductive narrative for me that I doubted if anyone actually lived it, until I remembered my friend, Rob Garcia. Rob had it all: condo, car, career and cash, until some life twists had him wanting to leave Manila. Like a true city boy, he was initially planning to move to another city outside the country, when out of nowhere he randomly made a decision to move to an island he's never been to before, finding happiness he never imagined attainable. For better context, listen first to Episode 15. Thank you once again for this, Rob, and thanks for co-hosting with me, Charm.

Have you ever thought about the definition of happiness? Happiness is a magic word and everyone is in search of it – but so few find it. Why? Is it because you think that you are looking for happiness in a false direction?
From the recent, Wild Heart Spring Retreat, at Heartwood Refuge in North Carolina, Mikey offers a talk on "Happiness in the Here & Now" on the first night of the retreat. He speaks to the difference between "Hedonic Happiness" and "Genuine Happiness" and the importance of finding a type of contentment that comes from relating to the world with wisdom and compassion, instead of trying to attain happiness through worldly pursuits.

Having dreams and goals is what keeps us actively participating in our own lives. Some of the bigger ones don't appear as if they could be met without a few years and some hard work; those are the big dreams, right? The ones we answer with when people ask what we've been up to? But have YOU ever known someone-- it could you or a loved one-- that devoted so much time to this goal that it robbed them of most of their days? That they turned down things they knew they wanted to do because they carried a sense of obligation? An obsession, even? And did you start to notice it robbing them of their joy? Because we've been there! In this podcast, we'll be telling you another old belief system that brings us pleasure rather than genuine happiness. And we understand how hard it is to see what it's doing to us until we're deep in the routines. How did that belief system come about? And why does it appear to work so well, from the outside? There's a way to make it to your goals and dreams without having to sacrifice your happiness, and we're excited to share it with you.

Psalm 32 New King James Version (NKJV) The Joy of Forgiveness A Psalm of David. A Contemplation. 32 Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered. 2 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no deceit. 3 When I kept silent, my bones grew old Through my groaning all the day long. 4 For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me;…

This energy, for those entrapped in it, often promotes an ego voice in which there is an absent sense of healthy human vulnerability that undermines their ability to experience healthy amounts of anger, anxiety, guilt, and love. The kinds of feelings which play a role in guiding us towards thinking and doing what is necessary to experience lasting genuine happiness. Also, making it difficult to experience spiritual wellness in which they are able to be the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is and celebrate each of the Divine Gifts they have been given.During the show, I'll be looking at symptoms which can reveal the presence of lower ego vulnerability and reflections of ego stupidity that occur when this person is having difficulty experiencing genuine happiness. This show will also look at specific insights needed to transform lower ego vulnerability into a healthier and more balanced place, with the use of ego medicine, and the impact of higher ego vulnerability on one's spiritual wellness. Please join me Wednesdays at 11:00 am (ET) when I will be sharing what you've taught me about what ego's doing within your life, humanly and spiritually.Visit the It's Your Ego-Stupid! show page https://omtimes.com/iom/shows/its-your-ego-stupid/Connect with Dr. Nick Martin at https://www.egoandspirit.info/#Ego #LowerEgoVulnerability #EgoStupidity #EgoMedicine #EgoVoice #DrNickMartin #DrNickolasMartin #ItsYourEgoStupid

Higher Ego Flexibility and Difficulty Experiencing Genuine HappinessAired Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 8:00 AM PST / 11:00 AM ESTThis week on “It's Your Ego—Stupid!”, Dr. Nick we'll be looking intensely into the mirror of genuine happiness and discussing the impact of higher ego flexibility on experiencing it. This energy, for those stuck in it, often promotes an ego voice in which understanding the truth about happiness is sought through others. Unfortunately for them, due to their naivete and gullibility, they are at risk of getting faulty ideas about the means to genuine happiness, from the wrong people at the wrong times. Leading them away from, rather than towards happiness. This energy, for those stuck in it, often promotes an ego voice in which ownership of the truth about happiness is reflected in their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. A truth in which they often think they have the “right” ideas about what happiness is or should be, what it takes to be happy, and who should or shouldn't be happy. Unfortunately for them, when the world isn't complying with their version of truth, there are often feelings of anger, resentment, and frustration, making it difficult, if not impossible, to know true joy and happiness. And, also making it difficult to experience spiritual wellness in which they are able to be the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is and celebrate each of the Divine Gifts they have been given.During the show, I'll be looking at symptoms which can reveal the presence of lower ego flexibility and reflections of ego stupidity that occur when this person is having difficulty experiencing genuine happiness. Higher Ego Power and Difficulty Experiencing Genuine HappinessAired Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at 8:00 AM PST / 11:00 AM ESTThis week on “It's Your Ego—Stupid!”, Dr. Nick we'll be looking intensely into the mirror of genuine happiness and discussing the impact of higher ego power on experiencing it. This energy often promotes an ego voice in which over-empowerment is manifested in one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, for those stuck in it. Often, leading to an emotional life filled with pseudo-happiness when things are going their way and anger when things, and often people, are not under their control. The “over-empowerment” thoughts of those with higher ego power are often filled with varying degrees of superiority, entitlement, and being more worthy than others. Making it difficult, if not impossible, for them to recognize what genuine happiness is and its roots in being in a place of peace and love with oneself and others. Also, making it difficult to experience spiritual wellness in which they are able to be the Love, Life, and Energy—God Is and celebrate each of the Divine Gifts they have been given.During the show, I'll be looking at symptoms which can reveal the presence of higher ego power and reflections of ego stupidity that occur when a person is having difficulty experiencing genuine happiness, often manifested in one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Listen to all episodes of the Personal Revolution podcast here: https://www.himalaya.com/revolution1 Inspirational Podcast Excerpt: Greatness of mind and heart will give us the spirit to do and bear great things. It endures trials without sinking beneath them, stands face to face with danger and death without flinching, can smile favorably on the face of a foe, and rejoice in a competitor's success. It is calm under great provocations and endures unmoved both perils and privations for the sake of great principles and the common good. True magnanimity consists of personal worth. One may be truly magnanimous and recognized as such, and at the same time be destitute of learning, scholarship, office, or rank. Such nobility, or largeness of life, is frequently found in people of humble circumstances. Acts worthy of heroes are being performed daily by people scarcely known at all. The qualities which must be sought in order to secure such greatness of mind and heart are a lofty purpose, deep sympathies, and absolute self-sacrifice. These combine in a nobility of character and life which makes one happy.

The Samadhi Podcast - Meditation & Buddhism | Self Improvement | Personal Growth | Motivation
In this episode, David (Dassetu) introduces the Samadhi Podcast and discusses a core Buddhist theme: Genuine Happiness. The desire to be happy and free from any form of discomfort or suffering is a desire common to all sentient beings; from small insects to animals, to humans. But, despite this desire and all our efforts, have we really found the happiness, fulfilment and contentment that we seek? Why does this happiness seem so elusive?Support the show (https://samadhi.org.uk/support/)

Often times we get caught up in other people’s happiness, and forget about our own. The trauma you’ve faced has changed your way of looking at life and things that was once important to you. So who are you without that Trauma? Is that unknown person happy, how do create that happiness for yourself? *I do not own any copy rights to the music played*
Surveys show that man's definition of success is largely characterized by self-fulfillment: More prosperity, more comfort and less responsibility. But God defines it differently in Psalm 1: He says we can be "blessed" by Him. We can experience this by being in the right position spiritually--saved and declared righteous through faith in Jesus Christ. Then, we have a responsibility to put that positional blessing into practice, actively and gratefully maturing in our relationship with Him. A powerful story from the unexpected country with the fastest growing church shows this involves living as disciples, not just converts.

THE ABC OF GENUINE HAPPINESS - INSPIRATION EPISODE
How do we find balance between the reality of hedonic worldly pleasure, and the possibility of inner cultivation? Understanding that they are not mutually exclusive, but rather need to be integrated.

Melissa fills in for co-hosting duties to have a one on one conversation with Justin while Marlon is in San Francisco on vacation and Tyren is off celebrating his birthday. They talk about having a fun day hanging out for the first time eating pizza and canolis, getting Starbucks, and visiting Toys R Us before it's gone for good. Justin shares fond TRU memories. Melissa brings up the topic of what makes them genuinely happy.
Today I want to talk about the Foundation of Genuine Happiness.
"Usually if you do something you love, it tends to make you happier and feel better.”Today’s guest is my niece, Claire, one of the most awesome, interesting teenagers I know. From losing her father at a very young age, to growing up with epilepsy, to being wrongfully accused of self harm at school, she’s already accumulated a significant amount of life experience for her age, all of which she’s used to grow from and create a genuinely happy life for herself. Turns out that the old stigma of the kid who’s wearing all black, dressed in Metallica shirts, and drawing on themselves might actually be the happiest of the bunch!Highlights of this episode include:-The impact that drawing has on her ability to be present -How she was accused of self harm at school-Why she sometimes draws on her skin, and how she talked a friend out of self harm -The stigma of wearing all black, Metallica shirts, etc.-How losing a parent at a young age affected her life-Living with epilepsy-Her advice to parents on how to raise a genuine good person
Settling the mind in its natural state. When mental afflictions come up, if you recognize them as such, you have a choice regarding whether you act on them. If you don’t recognize them you will simply act on the basis of the mental afflictions. Be present and observe with interest all that comes up even if they are not pleasant. Description of how to do the gentle vase breathing. Discussion of prana and the dangers of practicing pranayama without a qualified teacher; it is much easier to damage prana than to repair it. Meditation starts at 49:58 Questions (75:01) Question on the differences in Alan’s books particularly between Genuine Happiness and the Four Immeasurables. Question regarding the emptiness of the mind – that practice as the soft spot on the death star, leading to realization of other emptiness. Question regarding emptiness as a negative, what is the positive aspect? Discussion of different strategies between Tsongkhapa where it is just the sheer absence of inherent nature, and Mahamudra and Dzogchen which attends to emptiness with awareness in the nature of luminosity.
As we anticipate the end of retreat, Alan mentions that the effects of retreat will not be lost as we go out and engage with the world. Genuine happiness can certainly arise outside of a retreat, as we go out into the world and lead an ethical way of life.
Hello All you Lovelies out in Computerland or iPodland, This morning’s meditation technique is Awareness of Awareness. Padmasambhava, in his book Natural Liberation, calls this meditation technique the cultivation of ‘Shamatha without a sign’. Then, Alan went into some of the history of how different scientific disciplines have thought about the mind according to how their discipline measures things. Each one has a specialized language. He gave instructions on how to do the meditation of Awareness of Awareness and I will refer you to his books ‘The Attention Revolution’ and ‘Genuine Happiness’ for details. Alan believes in radical empiricism. Let experience lead you to the theory. This is what Padmasambhava is saying when he gave us the meditational technique of Awareness of Awareness. Darlene
