The year's biggest Star Wars event is coming to the Peach State. In a year without a Star Wars Celebration convention, the Georgia Alliance of Star Wars Collectors (GASWC) is busy creating a vintage and modern collector's dream event. During the May 4th weekend, more than 150 passionate Star Wars collectors will travel to Kennesaw, Georgia for three days of panels, activities, meals, collection tours and the unforgettable moments only an event like this could deliver. And the weekend's room sales event may be the best one in years, with collectors bringing some of the rarest and previously unseen prototypes and production items. Join host David Quinn as he sits down with Georgia Alliance members Narayan S. Naik, Jason Wasulko and Glen Williams, for a behind-the-scenes look at the Rogue Fun weekend. In this two-part series, the Georgia team will explain the origins of the event, as well as what to expect for the weekend's itinerary, and why it takes a community (and a few former Kenner and Nelvana employees) to build something as special as Rogue Fun. Bruce Edward Hornidge was born in 1948 in Belleville, Ontario, an Air Force brat growing up where his father was stationed in Gimli, Manitoba, and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Bruce finished school in 1967, joining his brother Brian at MacMillan Bloedel's Kennedy Lake logging division at Ucluelet on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. He was married on a very unusual snowy day in March 1973 and, with his wife, Minnie, raised two boys and a girl. He felled trees for twenty-six years. After losing his job in 1997, he became a security guard in Campbell River, Vancouver, and Vanderhoof, British Columbia. Bruce and his wife, now the Rev. Minnie Hornidge, live in Glen Williams, Ontario. There, Bruce gardens and knits. And writes. After more than two decades harvesting in the beauty of the forest, Hornidge was “loggershamed” as a “tree-killer” and faced soul-searing losses of identity and livelihood, part of the human fallout of the inevitable move away from a resource-based economy.Loggerheads is written from the unique, sometimes humorous, and even irreverent point of view of one of the many loggers in Ucluelet and Tofino whose forestry careers were cut short on the other side of the demonstrators' picket lines and government and company doublespeak. “In a three-week window, decades ago, I produced the bulk of this book in the form of a paper called ‘The Nightmare.' My goal was a story that is truthful, personal, and encompasses many of the issues in this complex problem,” Hornidge says.“Three decades after The War of the Woods, we know what happened, and we've been told why. There's a lot we were never told.” Endless Sky Books was founded by award-winning author and editor Edward Willett in 2023.http://endless-sky-books.com. After 26 years in law enforcement, Glen Williams has experienced the toll that bearing witness to violence and tragedy can take. Williams, like many first responders, bottled up the pain and soldier on. Unaware that his PTSD was wrecking his life at home and on the job. Hello, this is Robert Riggs. In this episode of the True Crime Reporter® Podcast, we look behind the badge of the men and women in blue. In our interview, Williams opens up about the emotional damage he suffered from years of seeing the worst of the worst on the police beat. Signs, Symptoms, and Treatment of PTSD In closing, here's my Reporter's recap and reflections. I commend Glen Williams for opening up wounds in his personal life to educate us about the PTSD suffered by first responders. Perhaps we should start thanking them for their service as we do military veterans. I became aware of PTSD after my embedded reporter assignment with the lead Army unit during the invasion of Iraq in 2003. And all of the men in my family were World War II veterans, and none of them would discuss the war. Looking back, I recognize signs of PTSD they suffered many years later. I believe the prescription is to open up, start talking, and seek professional help. Now, that's easier said than done. Many young men, including yours truly, were taught that showing feelings was a sign of weakness. With the help of strong women in our family, we are trying to change that in future generations. My guest Glen Williams is a retired police officer having served 26 years in patrol and as a detective. Glen openly and honestly shares his story of developing PTSD after witnessing so much trauma and death during his career and not being able to talk about it. In his personal life, he suffered from two divorces as a result. Glen has reinvented his life and is now an author, speaker and communications coach who is dedicated to helping others. His memoir is titled Bridging the Gap-An Inside Look at Communications and Relationships After Traumatic Events. His goal is to help reduce the effects that PTSD, divorce, and suicide have had on trauma exposed professions. Glen used many different tools to recover and is now happily married. He shares these tools as well in his memoir. I met Glen at a Mastermind Retreat for authors last year as he is a fellow Morgan James Publishing author. You will indeed be inspired by Glen's profound story of pain, loss, and ultimate triumph!Book: Bridging the Gap-An Inside Look at Communications and Relationships After Traumatic EventsWebsite: https://www.gdubauthor.com/Social media:Instagram: instagram.com/gdubauthorFacebook: facebook.com/GDubAuthorLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/glen-williams-950488265/

“Bridging The Gap”, a new book authored by 26 year law enforcement veteran Glen Williams might be directed at his police comrades but holds learning lessons for all of us. Over the course of his career, Glen suffered through two divorces, numerous traumatic events and developed severe PTSD. "My objective in writing this book was to help others not do the same stupid things that I did. If I can help one person avoid a divorce or PTSD or suicide then I win.” He recounts a briefing held for police academy graduates and their spouses. The couples were told the divorce rate among law enforcement couples was high. There would be things they saw on the job that officers would not want to or couldn't talk about with their spouse. “They told us open communication was important but they didn't tell us HOW to do it.” His law enforcement career got off to a rough start when he was rejected by the postal inspector's service because of his diabetes. His evolution to a “regular beat cop” was fraught with other challenges including supervisors who misconstrued his lack of communication as arrogance. Glen says he later realized he would give off that vibe as a way of covering his own insecurities. “Subconsciously I was protecting myself. Basically..Realistically I was destroying the thing I cared most about – my marriage.” In Bridging the Gap he recounts several scenarios from the ridiculous to the extremely traumatic. One of my favorites was the stormy night when he almost shot Ronald McDonald. He strongly recommends journaling as a healthy method of dealing with trauma. Blue Help and the CODE 9 Project also provide support resources for those in the law enforcement community. TAKEAWAY: Glen provides an eight hour course in communication to police departments around the country. He also encourages anyone who needs to talk to contact him directly.

Teaching English in Beijing seemed like a great opportunity for Welsh graduate Glen Williams, who'd previously spent time studying in China. He could brush up on his Mandarin, work with children, and earn up to £3k per month tax free. The hitch? The agency that placed him told him that every three months, he'd need to spend the weekend in Seoul - a ‘visa trip' that, he soon discovered, was commonplace amongst ex-pat EFL teachers. Then, one day, they changed their tune. “If the Police ask you”, they said, “tell them you sell whiteboards”.In this interview with Olly, Glen reveals what happened next… ————————————Meanwhile, in the Zeitgeist, Ollie Peart, fresh from mastering ‘the Crow Pose' on Instagram, attempts to dominate the internet through the medium of keyword spamming.
