Today's runner is normally on the other side of the mic telling inspiring stories of the everyday runner. So I was very fortunate to turn the tables and ask him some questions today! We dive into how he went from training for a half marathon on a whim and initially hating running to running his first marathon and falling in love with endurance sports. After training for Boston and not having the race experience he hoped for, he turned to the triathlon sport where he found himself completely immersed and ended up competing in 8 Ironmans. He's built a business around finding inspiration from the everyday runner, and he's still out here proving to himself and his community that he can do hard things. We are so excited about this episode with incredible intuitive astrologer & spiritual teacher Danielle Paige. This has been such a highly requested conversation from Jordan's audience, and we are so thrilled to finally be able to deliver. This is a deep one all about intuitive astrology, cosmic beings, starseeds, time not being linear, healing from Lyme & mold, finding love, using astrology to find love, and so much more. Danielle also reads Jordan's birth chart in this episode — such a treat! It is incredible to hear Danielle's backstory in this conversation about hitting rock bottom and finding astrology at the age of 30, how age is just a number and we all find love & partnership when we are meant to, the message behind soul contracts & what they are for, her healing journey (which she doesn't talk about often publicly), and so much more. We know TBB family loves astrology as much as we do, and it is a true cosmic tool to get to know ourselves and the universe better. We hope this episode enriches your life, and that it feels like you're sitting on the couch chatting with two (very spiritual) friends! Today on Ask Nick we continue to dive into the wild world of situationships. We start with our first caller who struggles when she feels that her boyfriend is putting his cats above her. After getting allergy shots to make it work, she asks if this might just be highlighting larger compatibility issues. Our next caller asks for help after being stuck in the middle of a sticky situation when at a party, a husband cheats on their wife with one of the caller's friends. Now this entire friend group struggles with what to do after witnessing infidelity at this event. Our next caller deals with an extreme long distance relationship that, once physically together, has no chemical spark in the bedroom. Now the caller has to navigate between emotional and physical attraction and determine what they need. Our last caller deals with a hot summer fling that fizzled out. Now, they're deciding between attempting to put together the pieces or just move on. “Am I loved the way I want to be loved?” Please make sure to subscribe so you don't miss an episode and as always send in your relationship questions to asknick@kastmedia.com to be a part of our Monday episodes. Today we are joined by the Michelle Young! In this interview we dig deep, trying to get the tea on all of the drama surrounding this season of The Bachelorette. We ask Michelle how she balances her personal life with her students after the show, her career plans for the future, and if she plans to be moving from Minnesota. We then ask about the season, getting her read on Martin's “high maintenance” conversation, her active eye for red flags, and her relationship pet peeves as we move forward in the season. We then ask about recent rumors surrounding Nayte, and get a read on how well our guesses for the final contestants have been. We get into the real questions, so let's dive in, and talk to Michelle! “It's not always going to feel good to listen to that red flag/gut reaction, but in the end it's in your benefit to make those tough calls.” Please make sure to subscribe so you don't miss an episode and as always send in your relationship questions to asknick@kastmedia.com to be a part of our Monday episodes. We tend to think of high-performance athletes as superhuman—a rare species with extraordinary strength and a preternatural ability to suffer. But if you ask today's guest what distinguishes the elite athlete and everyone else, she'll say nothing. For her, the secret to high-level performance isn't about cutting edge training plans, coaches, or carefully honed nutrition. For her, it's instead found in seeking out and celebrating the pain cave, that deep place of physical discomfort most go to great lengths to avoid.Meet Courtney Dauwalter, the world's best female ultrarunner—and when it comes to races 200 miles and longer—arguably the best period.A humble mater of grit and boundary-busting physical prowess, Courtney is universally loved and admired for her winning smile, mental fortitude and intuitive training style (she doesn't even have a coach). In addition to being named one of the 50 Fittest Athletes in the World by Sports Illustrated and a two-time Ultrarunner of the Year, among her countless accomplishments, Courtney:won the 2017 Moab 240 (including beating all the men) by an astonishing 10 hour margin;won the 2020 Big Dog Backyard Ultra by clocking 283 miles (again beating all the men);won the women's division of 2018 The Western States 100;broke the Tahoe 200 female course record in 2018 by 18+ hours; andwas the fastest female at the 2019 UTMB, considered the world's most prestigious ultraNot bad for an athlete who didn't even begin her professional running career until she was 32 years old.The thing about Courtney is that she lives in the moment. She's a doer. She doesn't overthink things. She trains on feel, eats what she wants, and does it all with joy and a laudable degree of humility and perspective. But behind it all is a very intentional human—an athlete of unparalleled mental fortitude with the drive required to test the very limits of human capability.Today we get into all of it.Courtney shares the mindset techniques and tactics that have propelled her superhuman accomplishments. She shares her perspective on career longevity. Her evolution as an athlete. How she approaches unlocking unprecedented performance. And the purpose that lives beneath it all.But if you extract anything from this conversation, may it be the importance of having fun. Why taking things lightly is strength and not a weakness. When you reframe pain as a destination rather than an obstacle, truly anything is possible. To read more click here. You can also watch our exchange on YouTube. And as always, the podcast streams wild and free on Apple Podcasts and Spotify. An athlete I've admired for many years, I aspire to Courtney's unique blend of grit and joy. Yes, she is a badass. But she's also a good sport. A better human. And an absolutely delightful hang.Enjoy!Peace + Plants,Listen, Watch & SubscribeApple Podcasts | YouTube | Spotify | Stitcher | Google PodcastsThanks to this week's sponsors:GoMacro: Packed with 100% sustainably sourced plant-based ingredients to fuel your body and mind, GoMacro bars are organic, vegan, gluten-free, and wildly delicious. Due to some miscommunication right before the start of the episode, Daniella and Andrew try to figure out which of them is "in a mood" while recording. As they get that sorted out they talk about finalizing the deal on the new home, which Daniella feels she was profiled for, and talk about the plans they have for the new house. They describe why they had to recently cancel their first family trip together and then listen to voicemails asking how Daniella and Andrew knew they were ready to settle down and start a family and how they balance it all. “One way to get a sense of how powerful something is is how scared people are of it. Why have governments gone to such trouble to ban various books over the years? “Why are we here? It’s an impossible question to answer, I suppose. Of course, on a fundamental evolutionary level, we’re here to pass along our genes. This is why we strive for success. This is why we lust for sex. This is what keeps the species going. But equally encoded in that evolutionary software and in our culture is another purpose, another less selfish drive: The drive for meaning. Merely to subsist, to persist—what kind of existence is that?”Ryan reads his recent article about the responsibility of service that life demands from us all. This episode is brought to you by GoMacro. Lily Ashwell is an intuitive astrologer, artist, healer, and a dear friend of Jordan’s. She is a fellow Lyme warrior who has been by Jordan’s side through much of their healing journeys. She created her Heavenly Bodies intuitive astrology deck in the thick of her darkest times with Lyme disease, after walking away from her past career as a fashion designer and shop owner (many of you in Los Angeles will remember her beautiful shop in Venice). As she so eloquently describes in the episode, her deck became a vehicle to channel her purest form of self, and that emotional density is so present once you touch her beautiful card deck. Her ethereal aesthetic resonates with Jordan so deeply. We reflect on our medicinal mission to heal and the spiritual awakenings we both shared during our intense water fast retreat when we solidified our friendship. She also talks about her positive experience with Bee Venom therapy and how she’s learned to see the gifts of her chronic illness. We love how Lily has harnessed powerful lessons from her dark night of the soul into something so poetic and beautiful. Her brave decision to leave a relationship and job no longer serving her, and throw her heart into this beautiful project is such an inspiration for those struggling to find their purpose. She’s a self-taught ‘astrology school dropout,’ but lives and breathes this energy so effortlessly — astrology is literally etched in her face! This episode will definitely pique your curiosity for the cosmos. You’ll learn so much about the significance of your Saturn Return, the moon/sun signs, and the different Houses. Her readings are spot on and I’m so excited for you all to get to know her and her brand, Heavenly Bodies, and watch her evolve in the spiritual space. To celebrate Lily’s beautiful journey, we’re offering a giveaway of her astrology deck.
