Join Erik and Tage this week as they are joined by Cydel and Jade as they discuss the Disney movies that were on repeat in their homes as children, the most surprising things they have learned about a Disney Park, the subtle (or not so subtle) things they do in their everyday life to bring in a bit of magic when they can't be in the parks, and what restaurants they believe need more seating and what space they would steal from to add that. Support the podcast by going to https://www.thehubcrawl.com/support. Question 1: What Disney Movie was on repeat at your house as a child? Question 2: What is the most surprising thing you have learned about a Disney park? Question 3: What is your favorite subtly Disney thing to do at home or in your regular everyday life to feel a little magic from the parks when you can't be there? Question 4: The old Haunted Mansion shop in New Orleans Square is now extra seating for the Royal Street Veranda. What other restaurant would you like to add seating for and what space would you steal from to do so? Bonus Question: What was the most extravagant experience you have paid for on a Disney vacation and was it worth the cost for you personally? (Dining package, show, hotel, VIP tour, etc.)

News: An iconic part of Disneyland history – and Disney in general will be getting refurbished soon. Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room closed this week to perform routine maintenance on the lighting, sound, and show. The mighty tree of Tangaroa will be recreated from a high resolution digital scan. The current Tangaroa is no longer able to be repaired, having been there since the attraction opening in 1963. The attraction will reopen later this summer. – https://www.laughingplace.com/disney-parks/tangaroa-tree-be-rebuilt-during-upcoming-refurbishment-walt-disneys-enchanted-tiki-room-disneyland/ https://www.micechat.com/146135-rolly-crump-impostor-syndrome-part-2/ Tour dates are open for the new guided tour coming to Disneyland for the 70th anniversary. A Story of Celebration: 70th Anniversary Guided Tour is a 2-hour guided walking tour, which includes a ride aboard the Mark Twain, Disneyland Railroad, a Lightning Lane for a select attraction, reserved viewing for Paint the Night, which includes popcorn, and a tour keepsake. The price is $120 per guest. Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance and are highly recommended. WALL-E was in the lobby of the Pixar Place Hotel roaming around and greeting guests. He also opened up his storage compartment to share the plant, potted in the boot, just like in the movie! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2025/04/24/dear-disney-we-are-begging-for-this-rare-character-meet-and-greet-to-become-permanent/ As we reported on previously, some permits have been filed with the Anaheim Planning and Building Department in relation to Porto's coming to Downtown Disney. We talked about removing the two ticket booths from the esplanade, but did not mention the permit to tear down the existing building – currently home to Earl of Sandwich. No timeline on the permits, but this is forward progress. – https://www.micechat.com/413960-disneyland-news-portos-permits-construction-walls-star-wars/ Once again, Disneyland Cast Members were invited to create upcycled art projects to be shown off to guests for Earth Month. This time, the creations, ranging from a Haunted Mansion created from cardboard pizza boxes, to Maleficent in dragon form made from plastic cutlery. The display is under the Silly Symphony Swings for guests to enjoy. – https://www.micechat.com/413960-disneyland-news-portos-permits-construction-walls-star-wars/ This week, the Disney Parks Blog recognized a cast member who brings joy to countless (or not so countless) guests. Antonio has been working at the Disneyland Resort for 18 years, and has received over 735 cast compliments from guests. Antonio works at Pixar Pier attractions and before Disneyland, worked for nearly 10 years in hospitality in Dubai and Qatar. Antonio's rise to fame is in part due to his exuberant energy and fun dance moves for guests! – https://disneyparksblog.com/dlr/dancing-disneyland-resort-cast-member-inspires-happiness/ Last week, we talked about recycling your food scraps at Disneyland. Since then, little droids have appeared on top of food scraps containers to remind guests that only food scraps should be deposited in the bin they are standing on. – https://www.micechat.com/413960-disneyland-news-portos-permits-construction-walls-star-wars/ A new way to checkout at Boardwalk Pizza & Pasta has arrived. A kiosk for guest self-checkout has been installed. The system scans the items on the tray, adds it up, and asks for payment. Currently, Magic Key discounts must involve a cast member, and payment can only be made with credit or debit card. – https://www.micechat.com/413960-disneyland-news-portos-permits-construction-walls-star-wars/ Weeklyteers who may be in the parks starting May 9th should know that it is Grad Nite season at the resort again, and park hours may be impacted. Disney almost had a Legend of Sleepy Hollow ride, in not one, but TWO different parks. In this episode of Distory with Kate & Kirk, we unearth some rare concepts for an Ichabod Crane-themed attraction by Imagineering—ideas that, much to our chagrin, never saw the light of day. We begin with a brief tour through the history of the Sleepy Hollow portion of The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, highlighting some incredible concept art by Mary Blair. From there, we head over to Walt Disney World to investigate what happened to Ichabod in both Fantasyland and Liberty Square. Along the way, we explore architectural influences rooted in literary history, uncover the origins of a classic Haunted Mansion song, and learn the backstory behind a popular invisible dog joke. Kate also shares details about a little-known, never-realized land once proposed for Disneyland. Meanwhile, Kirk terrifies us with a bizarre attraction from Hong Kong and reveals some shadowy concepts that reflect his deepest wishes for Liberty Square. We end the episode watching the Headless Horseman ride into the sunset—along with our hopes for what could have been (and may never be) when it comes to seeing this eerie attraction brought to life in the Disney parks.Join us LIVE on YouTube most Thursdays at 10:30am Pacific/1:30pm Eastern for more Distory!Kate's Youtube: @disneyciceroneYou can also find us on Instagram, Facebook, and at disneycicerone.com & walruscarp.comView full video versions of each episode at Disney Cicerone's YouTube channel HERE OR on the Spotify version of our podcast.Distory T-shirts and StickersKate's SubstackKate's books on AmazonWalrusCarp T-shirts & MerchMOWD app

“I've always been authentic and that's always served me well. I remember Eddie Murphy being very amused by my banter.”When Oprah says, “People get to where they want to go because they know where they want to go,” how do you even begin to answer that? Especially when you're a Mancunian-born actor who's spent over two decades living and working in Hollywood. That's exactly what we asked Marsha Thomason in this candid, access-all-areas conversation—recorded from a slightly seismic LA (seriously, listen out for the tremor in the second half!).With infectious enthusiasm, ambition and off-the-charts charisma, Marsha has built an extraordinary career on screen, holding her own alongside legends like Helen Mirren, Richard Griffiths, Terence Stamp, and Eddie Murphy. From Better Things and Las Vegas to Lost, The Haunted Mansion, and ITV's The Bay, she's done it all, on both sides of the pond—winning lead roles in major TV shows and Hollywood hits while navigating the industry's twists and turns. In this episode, Marsha gives us the raw, inside track on how she made it to Hollywood: from cutting her teeth on a Saturday morning kids' show to how she landed her first US role, to bouncing back from a box office flop (released in the wake of 9/11). You'll hear all about the chutzpah, resilience, and sheer delusion needed to get ahead and stay the course. Victoria Goodwin, wife of Ghost Adventures star Aaron Goodwin, has been arrested for allegedly conspiring to hire someone to kill her husband. The couple was married at Disneyland's Haunted Mansion in August 2022, but three years later, Victoria, 32, reportedly plotted to have Aaron, 48, murdered. According to an arrest report, Victoria Goodwin communicated with an inmate in Florida in October 2024. The inmate allegedly served as an intermediary between Victoria and another individual who was expected to carry out the killing. Police say Victoria had saved $11,515 to fund the murder and, at one point, sent a text message asking, “Am I a bad person? Because I chose to end his existence. Not divorce.” Investigators further allege that Victoria provided the filming schedule for Ghost Adventures to help plan the attack. The plot began to unravel when Florida corrections officers discovered a contraband phone and uncovered the incriminating messages. Court documents show one text message from the inmate to his outside contact, apparently referring to Aaron Goodwin, read: “He's asleep right now in the hotel room … I need to know what's going on. Can I get an update. Was it done?” When confronted with the evidence, Victoria denied wanting her husband killed. She claimed she didn't remember sending the messages and said the money she wired to the inmate was intended for purchasing cellphones. She did admit to fantasizing about being without her husband, citing marital problems. Aaron Goodwin, who is part of the paranormal investigation team on the Discovery+ series Ghost Adventures, said he was “blindsided and devastated” by the alleged murder-for-hire scheme. Victoria Goodwin has been charged with solicitation to commit murder and conspiracy to commit murder. She is being held at the Clark County Detention Center on $100,000 bail and has been ordered to have no contact with her husband. Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? One of these was the updated experience coming next year to Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run. The new adventure will feature the Mandalorian and Grogu, better known as “the child” from the hit Disney+ series. This new experience will take guests to new locations for the attraction, like Cloud City, Tatooine, and the Death Star wreckage. The update will coincide with the premiere of “The Mandalorian and Grogu” movie on May 22, 2026. – https://disneyparksblog.com/disney-experiences/sxsw-2025-new-missions-smugglers-run-mandalorian/ https://www.micechat.com/410722-disney-parks-announcements-from-swsx-avengers-star-wars-a-tomorrowland-tease/ Also at South by Southwest, Disney gave new details on the Avengers Campus updates at Disneyland. The large e-ticket Avengers Infinity Defense didn't get much new information, but the Stark Flight Lab did! Robert Downey Jr., who plays Tony Stark and Iron Man, was present to talk about the upcoming attraction. Last week, Rise of the Resistance in Star Wars Galaxy's Edge had the cannons fixed! This effect has not been working for the last year or more. Rumor online is that it was a programming issue that over the course of the day the movement got out of sync and caused the attraction to stop working. That has been corrected and the cannons appear to be back! – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2025/02/02/we-love-it-when-disney-listens-imagineers-finally-fixed-this-glaring-ride-problem/ There is quite a bit happening elsewhere in the resort as well. Over in Disney California Adventure, Elias & Co. on Buena Vista Street is behind scrim and scaffold, the Cozy Cone Motel in Cars Land is still working on the updates to the main office. The new seating area nearby has also partially gone back behind walls to add what looks like a shade covering to the spot. The Little Mermaid is still open, but getting an extended standby queue. Grizzly River Run is undergoing a major refurbishment, including work on the guard rails and some stonework. – https://www.micechat.com/408639-disneyland-update-end-of-the-line-blasts-from-the-past/ ver in Disneyland, more light poles are covered up around the resort to allow for maintenance. The Disneyland Monorail and Disneyland Railroad are closed until early March to work on new entrance gates for the Downtown Disney station of the Monorail, and the rest of the track replacement for the Disneyland Railroad. The Jolly Holiday and it's a small world are down for extended refurbishments. – https://www.micechat.com/408639-disneyland-update-end-of-the-line-blasts-from-the-past/ This coming weekend is the last chance to hop aboard the Red Car Trolley at Disney California Adventure. February 8th is the last day for the attraction which added a lot of kinetic movement and atmosphere to Buena Vista Street and Hollywood Boulevard. While you won't be able to ride the trolley anymore, one will be parked near the entrance to the park for photos. – https://www.micechat.com/408639-disneyland-update-end-of-the-line-blasts-from-the-past/ Madame Leota's Somewhere Beyond shop, which just opened last month had some flooding issues last week. The heavy rain flowed down the walkway to Bayou Country and right into the front door of the shop. The resort already has plans for work to be done with the path in front of the shop to correct this issue. The shop will remain open during this work, with entrance allowed by the Haunted Mansion exit. – https://www.micechat.com/408639-disneyland-update-end-of-the-line-blasts-from-the-past/ Disneyland After Dark: Sweethearts Nite was hugely popular, but the other After Dark Nites still have tickets available. 90's Nite still has tickets for March 4th, and Star Wars Nite still has all dates available. If you are interested in attending either of these, check out the link in our show notes. – https://www.micechat.com/408639-disneyland-update-end-of-the-line-blasts-from-the-past/ https://disneyland.disney.go.com/admission/events/ A pop-up mini golf experience is coming to the Pixar Place Hotel. Pixar Putt, which was at the D23 Expo, and a season in Washington, D.C., and Long Beach, opens on February 7th at 3pm and will be at the hotel until June 1st. Tee times are every 30 minutes, with with discounts for hotel guests and Magic Keyholders. Prices range from $28-$33, plus a $2 per person service fee. The Royal Street Veranda has added Baked Cheesy Biscuits, with an optional side of Cajun Cheese sauce. They are described as Cheeze-Its in biscuit form. The biscuits are made with sharp cheddar and cajun cheese, and are brushed with garlic butter. The sauce is not overly spicy and adds a sharper cheese flavor. The biscuits are $8.99, and the dipping sauce is $1.39. – https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2025/01/27/review-id-like-to-thank-the-creator-of-this-new-disney-snack-for-making-me-believe-in-happiness-again/ SnackChat: Flo's V8 Cafe – https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/disney-california-adventure/flos-v8-cafe/menus/ Discussion Topic: Disney Islands with Teresa
