This is it! The finale of Maul Shadow Lord! Not letting us take a moment since Vader appeared out of the fog, the fight immediately begins and the episode never lets up for a second after that. This is all out Vader. This is how powerful he was at his peak. This is Anakin in unbridled menace. And it was AWESOME! Our group of the Lawsons, Devon, Master Daki and Two Boots, along with Vario, can barely stay ahead of Vader and the Inquisitors trying to get to the ship that Dryden Vos brought to rescue them. It's a race for survival, and not everyone makes it.  As we've seen before, the tragic loss of someone dear to them, causes a Jedi to lose their control, and that's when the darkness takes over. And Maul perfectly orchestrates Devon's fall to his side.  It's action packed. It's edge of your seat. It's terrifying. It's dramatic. This is the finale of Maul Shadow Lord! What do you call the penulitimate episode to the penultimate episode? The prepenultimate episode? That's what this one is, definitely the big setup for what's coming in the next two finale episodes! We have everyone on the run. Maul trying to get away from the Inquisitors and back to his people. The Lawsons, Devon and Daki trying to get away from the Empire. It's a tense chase sequence all the way through!  But we also see Maul really suffering from his fears of abandonment and betrayal. The same weaknesses he's suffered his whole life. It's plagued him. It's ate away at his sanity. It's crippled him when he needs to be strong.  We are seeing just how much of a tragic story Maul has lived through. And it helps us understand him all the more. But this is not a redemption story. It's just giving so much depth to a villain that most usually don't get, and that's why this show is so great! Send in your thoughts to the show! Justin reviews "Chapter 9: Strange Allies" and "Chapter 10: The Dark Lord" of Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, now streaming on Disney+!The season finale dropped on Star Wars Day — and it delivered. Dryden Vos arrives with an offer Maul can't refuse: take out his boss, and Crimson Dawn is yours. With that, an unlikely alliance forms as Maul, the Jedi, and the Lawsons are forced to fight their way out of Janix together. But Darth Vader himself shows up to clean up the mess the Inquisitors couldn't finish — and the combined might of Devon, Master Daki, and Maul is no match for the Dark Lord. Season 1 ends with Maul one step closer to becoming the shadow puppet master we know from Solo, and Devon standing at the edge of a very dark path.⚠️ SPOILER WARNING — This review is spoiler-filled. Apparently, Tim is HIM! This week on the podcast, Brian and Darryl buckle up for a finale-heavy week with the last two episodes of Maul: Shadow Lord, the Season 2 finale of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, the Season 2 finale of Daredevil: Born Again, The Boys Season 5 Episode 6, and Netflix's 2026 limited series Lord of the Flies. Episode Index Intro: 0:07 Lord of the Flies: 7:02 Maul: 12:47 Monarch: 29:32 Daredevil: 46:50 The Boys: 1:02:16 Lord of the Flies, Netflix Limited Series Limited Series Episodes: 4 Titles: Piggy, Jack, Simon, Ralph Netflix release date: May 4, 2026 in the U.S. Original release date: February 8, 2026 Director: Marc Munden Writer: Jack Thorne Summary: Netflix's 2026 Lord of the Flies limited series adapts William Golding's classic survival nightmare into a four-episode TV format, following a group of British schoolboys stranded on a deserted island after a plane crash. Ralph and Piggy try to build order, rules, and rescue plans, while Jack's need for power and violence slowly turns the group into rival camps. The series tracks the collapse through four character-focused episodes: Piggy brings the boys together, Jack embraces the hunt, Simon becomes the tragic victim of the island's growing hysteria, and Ralph watches the last pieces of civilization burn down around him. By the end, Piggy and Simon are dead, Ralph is hunted, and rescue arrives only after the boys have already proven that the real monster was never hiding in the jungle. Rating Out of 10 It Would Have Been Better Not to Try at All Brian: 1/10 Darryl: DNW Maul: Shadow Lord (Disney Plus) Title: Chapter 9: Strange Allies Air date: May 4, 2026 Director: Steward Lee Writer: Christopher Yost Summary: Dryden Vos enters the picture with an offer Maul absolutely cannot ignore: safe passage off Janix in exchange for Maul taking the reins of Crimson Dawn. Meanwhile, Maul reaches out to Devon through their Force connection, drawing her and the rest of the group into a desperate alliance. Lawson suggests a dangerous underground route out of the city, but the escape turns into a nightmare when the group has to cross a toxic river while the Inquisitors close in. Maul holds them off long enough for everyone to make it across, only for Darth Vader to arrive outside the city and casually remind everyone that there is always a bigger monster in the room. Title: Chapter 10: The Dark Lord Air date: May 4, 2026 Director: Nathaniel Villanueva Writer: Matt Michnovetz & Brad Rau Summary: The season finale throws Maul, Devon, Daki, the Lawsons, and the rest of the survivors straight into Vader's shadow. Maul and the Jedi fight Vader and the Inquisitors while the others try to reach Dryden Vos's ship through a wall of Imperial troops. Daki gets a brief victory over Marrok, but Vader kills him after Maul chooses self-preservation over loyalty. Devon's grief and rage push her closer to Maul, who promises to train her for revenge. Lawson sacrifices himself so Rylee, Two-Boots, and Vario can escape, and by the time Vos's ship leaves Janix, Devon agrees to become Maul's apprentice. Good news: they escaped. Bad news: the emotional damage is now fully weaponized. Kong battles Titan X while Cate escapes Isabel's base and Keiko rescues her. Tim and May try to shut down the neural implants, but the real fix comes from returning Titan X's egg, which pacifies the creature and ends the fight. Titan X returns to Axis Mundi with the egg, Shaw and Keiko get a brief emotional vision of younger Shaw, and six weeks later Monarch officially recruits Cate, Keiko, May, and Tim. Meanwhile, Shaw tracks Kentaro and Isabel to Thailand and finds Rodan waiting near a volcano, because this show simply refuses to end on a normal workplace update. MacDonald Writer: Dario Scardapane & Jesse Wigutow Summary: Karen Page's trial becomes the pressure cooker for the entire season as Matt calls Wilson Fisk to the stand, presents Savva's video testimony, and publicly reveals that he is Daredevil to prove what Fisk has done. Dex stops AVTF officers from killing Matt, then takes a shot at Fisk, causing chaos inside the courthouse. Outside, Daredevil's supporters rise up after BB Urich pushes the city to fight back. Fisk is offered exile to avoid charges, but because he is Wilson Fisk and subtlety has never once entered the chat, he lashes out and kills multiple protestors before Matt convinces him to take the deal. Fisk leaves New York, the AVTF collapses, BB lands at the New York Bulletin, Jessica reunites with Luke Cage, Heather Glenn starts sliding into Muse territory, and Matt ends the season arrested and imprisoned for being Daredevil. That is one hell of a “victory,” Matt. Deep responds like the emotionally stable aquatic nightmare he is and murders Noir in retaliation. Meanwhile, Sage incapacitates Ashley and pulls information from Bashley, discovering that Soldier Boy may know where to find a lead on V1. That sends Sage into full defection mode as the final season keeps pushing everyone toward the inevitable blood-soaked endgame. Hey Small Wonder Fans, Angela Bowen here, the host of She's A Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast. Today, I covered Season Episodes 5-8. S4E5: Come Fly With Me, which aired on October 22, 1988. In this episode the Lawson's accompany Brandon and Harriet on a flight to Florida (business reasons) when their flight is hijacked. Art Linkletter guest stars. I thought this episode was clever and humorous in some scenes. S4E6: Love At First Byte, which aired on October 29, 1988. In this episode Vicki falls for a computer program called L.E.S., that Ted installs in the family computer, unaware that L.E.S.'s growing attraction to Vicki takes a possessive and controlling turn, leading the family to take drastic measures to save Vicki. S4E7: The Sheik, which aired on November 5, 1988. In this episode, Ted and the family entertain a Sheik who intends to do business with the Robotics company that Ted works for, however when the Sheik sets his sights on marrying Vicki (to go along with his 4 other wives) this kid is 13 BTW, Ted has to decide if he can save Vicki from a lifetime of servitude (like she doesn't already have that with the Lawsons) marriage to a 13 year old boy or risk a business venture between his company and the Middle East. S4E8: Togetherness, which aired on November 12, 1988. In this episode the Brindles and the Lawsons compete on Beat Thy Neighbor, a gameshow. This was a fun episode. I hope you enjoy the episodes and I'll be back in late March with episodes S4E9-S4E12.

Strumming on heartstrings and buzzing with humor, we welcome you back to "Late Night Laughs with the Lawsons," and boy, do we have a season opener for you! The singing barber who charmed the country on American Idol Season 22, Noah Peters, joins us with his guitar in tow. We're whisked off to nostalgic Kentucky, where backyard jams sowed the seeds of Noah's musical dreams, all the way to the bright lights of Nashville, where he now crafts melodies that capture the soul of country life.Phillip Lammonds makes an appearance, adding his own notes of wisdom to our harmony as we explore more than just chords and choruses. We open up about the fears that tickle our funny bones and the childhood memories that shaped our quirks and character. Our conversation takes a heartfelt turn, examining the purpose that fuels our daily lives and the gratitude that turns life's trials into triumphs, proving that laughter and introspection can share the same stage.Cap off the evening with the inside scoop on Noah's American Idol adventure, his tight-knit circle that keeps him grounded, and the timeless wisdom found in a barbershop chair. We reveal plans for new music that's just waiting to be shared, and we celebrate the rebrand of our show with a promise of the same irresistible humor and a fresh coat of paint. So settle in, folks, for an episode that will leave you chuckling and, perhaps, a little inspired to find the melody in your own life's journey.Support the Show.

Hey Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of She's A Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast. Today, I covered not one, but two episodes to catch up for missing March's episode. S3E15: Bye Bye Brindles. which aired on January 23, 1988. In this episode the Lawsons plot to convince the Brindles to move. Brandon was such a dumb dumb in this episode. GAH! Not surprising, Bonnie is mentioned but not seen since the actress moved on to star in the show Valerie or Hogan Family or whatever they were calling that show at the time. This episode was kinda meh. and also I covered S3E16: For Sale By Robot, which aired on January 30, 1988. In this episode Vicki accidentally sells the Lawson's house. This was a bonkers crazy and hugely unrealistic episode (aren't they all) when it comes to selling a home, as well as the couple being what TV perceive as stereo typical Texans to be like. I was embarrassed and I'm not originally from Texas, I've only been here 3 years. Overall, I liked this episode more than the first. Hope you enjoy the episodes and I'll be back in June with two more. Have a great rest of April!

We send out warm Easter wishes, share the hilarity of our car's pollen predicament, and invite you to chuckle along with our musings on the quirks of marriage communication. As our kids' egg-hunting antics grow up with them, we find ourselves pondering how traditions evolve and resonate with families everywhere. We take a trip down memory lane, contrasting the boundless outdoor play of the '90s with today's tech-tethered experiences. Through stories of alfalfa field escapades and our reflections on how tech revolutions have shaped the essence of community, we examine the trade-offs between the convenience of the digital age and the simplicity of the past. It's a nostalgic journey that will have you yearning for the sound of dial-up internet and the freedom of bike rides until the streetlights came on.Storytelling takes center stage as we spin the wheel of personal history, landing on tales of jobs we'd rather forget and lessons we're glad we learned. From the challenge of leaving a job on moral grounds to the myriad ways we navigate supporting our partners, we unpack the highs and lows of our past work lives. Gather around for a heartwarming family reunion on air, as my cousin Dustin Blair, a fearless firefighter and adept X-ray technician, rejoins the conversation, bringing tales of our shared follies and recent triumphs. Remember that time I was convinced I had a career in tap dancing? Well, we're unpacking that memory and so much more, including the glee of Dustin's family Disney escapade, made even richer by the freedom post-COVID and the unexpected advantages of a disability pass for his daughter's diabetes. As 'dance dads,' we exchange chuckles over the delightful hurdles of supporting our twirling children, proving that the rhythm of life extends far beyond the dance floor.Laughter isn't the only thing echoing through this episode; we're also exploring the delicate dance of balancing careers with the rich tapestry of family life. From a comically painful encounter with a two-by-four to the creative musings behind our podcast segments, Dustin and I peel back the curtain on finding harmony amidst chaos. This week's thematic word 'focus' prompts introspection on the struggle to maintain it without missing out on life's essential moments. We talk parenting wisdom, the irony in the lessons we teach our children that we, too, must heed, and the rejuvenating power of disconnecting from the daily bustle to cherish time with our loved ones. But it's not all fun and games—we're tackling the tough topic of bullying, reflecting on its implications from our schoolyard days to the amplified digital battlegrounds of social media. Personal stories from our own pasts interweave with discussions on the vital role of standing up as an upstander, the resilience in overcoming adversity, and the unwavering support found in true friendship. Concluding with an invitation to our weekly educational comedy segments, we promise both giggles and enlightenment. Huge gratitude to Dustin for sharing his narratives as we send off our listeners with messages of empathy, courage, and a call to share the journey we've embarked on today.Support the show

Hey Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of She's A Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast. Today, I covered S3E14: Here Today, Gone Tomorrow, which aired on January 16, 1988. In this episode Vicki gives a bank computer data that Ted is dead. This creates issues for him and Joan because they can't use their credit cards to buy groceries, since Ted had been doing what we in today's world refer to online banking to pay our bills. He was 30 years ahead of his time here, however Vicki mishears Ted mention something about him being dead and Vicki inputs that data into the computer to cut off his credit because he's dead. He has to go to the bank to prove he's alive, which doesn't do anything, he doesn't show his ID, the the bank manager has no idea if he is who he says he is. Joan and Ted have a fake funeral to prove to the bank creator and other random people including Brandon and Bonnie (Edie McClurg's final episode) that he is very much alive. Jamie and Vicki have a small side plot where he's selling packets of Christmas Tree Seeds in January for $3.95. No one's buying that crap because no ones thinking of Christmas in January. Joan gets a Life Insurance check for $100,000, that of course they have to give back. Join me later this month when I cover S3E15: Bye Bye Brindles, which aired on January 23, 1988. In this episode the Lawsons plot to convince the Brindles to move. See ya'll later this month! Overall not a bad episode.

Looking Back On My Wonder Years: A Wonder Years Podcast

Hey Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of She's A Small Wonder A Small Wonder Podcast. Today, I covered S3E13: Ooga Mooga, which aired on December 7, 1987. In this episode The Lawsons perform at a lodge fund-raiser. This was the last episode of 1987. What a way to kick off 2024 with a shit-tastic episode, was I right , or was I right? It really sucked soo bad and Brandon Brindle's dumb a$$ self has the most to do with it. Add in that creepy 6 foot tall doll, then Joan and Vicki dressing up as said doll to recreate an act at the lodge fundraiser talent show. Ted and Brandon's boss is dumber than a box of rocks if he mistook Ted for Brandon. I knew Ted was originally meant for that position. Jamie's magic tricks were horrible, time for a new hobby Jamie or a get rich quick scheme, plus I thought Jamie seemed a little too old to do doing magic tricks, not that there's an age requirement on playing magic tricks, just seems kinda beneath him, ya know, it's Jamie. Unless he's charging people to watch him perform said magic tricks. I mean it did cost Brandon $10. Luckily the episode for February looks a lot more funner and enjoyable. Join me next month when I cover S3E14: Here Today, Gone Tomorrow, which aired on January 16, 1988. The first episode of 1988. In this episode Vicki gives a bank computer data that Ted is dead. Hey Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of She's A Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast. Today, I covered S3E12: The Bank Job, which aired on November 28, 1987. In this episode, Harriet, Jamie and Vicki foil a bank robber. As far as episodes go, this one was kinda weak sauce. Diff'rent Strokes did a much better episode on a bank robbery back in the early 80's. Aside from the bank robbery, which btw's took place when there was less than 10 minutes left in the episode, so ya know, no real high stakes. Just a man dressed as a woman, who looks like he's never held a gun before, which wasn't surprising considering he told the bank teller, he was new at the whole stick up situation. Aside from that, the side plot of Ted and Brandon getting measles was total BS, the writers should have just led with the chicken pox like on Full House Season 1. At least we learn that Jamie had his MMR Vac. Join me in January when I cover what I feel will be a crap episode S3E13: Ooga Mooga, which aired on December 5, 1987. Hey Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of She's A Small Wonder: A Small Wonder Podcast. Today, I covered S3E7: The Promotion, which aired on October 24, 1987. In this episode to win a promotion over Brandon's boss fawning, Ted decides to reveal Vicki's robot secret to his boss at a company picnic unaware that Brandon is out to sabotage Ted's effort. As far as episodes go this one was really lackluster, and Brandon Brindle being there only made it worse. Ted wanting to reveal Vicki's a robot to his boss for a promotion, I don't know just feels wrong some how or not the right time. Turns out (spoiler alert) he doesn't get the promotion, Brandon does, and it's a good thing because apparently the promotion is for a robotics management position in Iceland. Jamie disappears to the kissing booth at the company picnic for most of the episode and shows up towards the end with lipstick prints all over his face. We never see the girl running the kissing booth, but according to Jamie she's a fox. How many times has Harriet explained to Vicki how to throw a tantrum? I've lost count as this point. You would think that Ted would have programmed Vicki with a voice recognition that way she only can be programed or reprogramed to take orders from the Lawsons and not just anyone. Think about that, Ted. I'm most excitedly for next month's episode S3E8: The Lawsonville Horror, which aired on October 31, 1987. In this episode an electrocuted Vicki behaves as though possessed. Have a great week and check out the episode on Youtube. All the episodes of Small Wonder are on it.

Here are some of Rachel's top tips for treasure hunting using the circular economy: Have a cohesive look: create a vision board and colour range, and stick to it. Buy things made to last: search for solid timber and quality brands you love. Always ask for measurements and make sure items fit your space. Great places to hunt are facebook marketplace, gumtree, and online vintage sellers, council cleanups and second hand shops. Focus your online searches on affluent and more densely populated suburbs. If you're far away from a big city, a buying trip can be a good investment: hire a trailer, line up purchases to pick up in a single day (pay a deposit to the vendor so they're happy to hold it), and make a day of it. On facebook marketplace, create alerts for hard-to-find items and be specific: beautiful items move fast and it helps to be the first to know. If you have family or lovely friends living in different cities, ask if they might be happy to pick up the odd item for you, and expand your search for items near them. Likewise, if you're visiting somewhere on holidays have a quick scroll. Hunt for preloved original art at auction houses like Lawsons or Davidson Auctions, or head to your local art school's student exhibitions. Framed museum posters or even calendar images can also make great art: put them in preloved frames but get the matboards cut by a framer for a high-end look on a budget. •   Christmas and New Year are risk factors for cardiac and non-cardiac deaths. A couple of reasons for that are that people delay actually going to the ER. They don't want to rush up there if there's nothing truly wrong. They don't want to leave their families. They're in the middle of the holiday festivities. They're spending time with the people that they love and they don't want to leave. They don't want to go to the emergency room. So they delay seeking treatment and they consume a large amount of foods. We all know we all overeat during the holidays. I hate to admit it, but I am very guilty of that. Just the stress of the holidays in general, people are having to work extra hours to be able to afford Christmas gifts for the people that they buy presents for. A lot of people don't have a choice., they are new to their jobs and they are forced to work during the holiday hours. Also, just the general excitement of the holidays can build up the catecholamines that actually can cause fatal heart arrhythmias. And we don't really think about it that much, but education can help. Moderate consumption of food, not smoking, different things like that can actually improve our risk. But nonetheless, the risk is still there. (02:10)•   So I looked over at my dad and he was clenching his chest. I could see sweat coming through his shirt and he looked like he was in pain. So I asked him, dad, are you okay? What's going on? How are you feeling? And he said, oh, my hernia is acting up. And we all know men sometimes are a little bit in denial when they have issues coming up. They don't want to go to the doctor, but he blamed it on his hernia. So my mom was in the bathroom at the time and my mom was also an RN. And so I went in there and I said, hey, mom, I'm pretty sure dad's having a heart attack. I'm going to call 911. And so her response was kind of funny. I think she was a little bit in denial. She's like, let me put my makeup on and I'll drive him up there. And I basically said, no, you can't drive and do CPR at the same time. I'm calling 911 right now. Long story short, EMS came and picked up my dad. And when they put him on the EKG, I could actually see him having a heart attack. (07:40)•   I was looking also into deaths that occurred on Christmas day and I found one that happened back, this was way back in 1929. There was this family in North Carolina that was murdered. There was a gentleman by the name of Charlie Lawson and he was a sharecropper and he murdered his wife and six of his seven children. And this actually happened on Christmas day in 1929. The odd thing is, and this was very strange for a sharecropper because they didn't make a lot of money. But days before Christmas he took his wife and all seven of his children and they ranged in age from four months to 17 years. His wife, bless her heart, was pregnant her entire life. He took them into town to buy new clothes and his plan was to have a family portrait. This was a big family. Again, very strange for a sharecropper to do this. So on the 25th Christmas morning he shot his 7 and 12 year old daughters with a 12 gauge shotgun. They were leaving to go to their aunt and uncle's house and he went into the barn and shot them on their way to the aunt and uncle's house. Now after he did that, he went home and shot his wife, she was on the porch. Then he went into the house and shot all of his children and he bludgeoned his four month old. Then he disappeared for several hours at which time he was in the woods and he eventually shot himself in the head. Now if you can imagine being the only survivor, if you have six siblings and your parents, so a total of eight people that die on the same day and you're the only surviving family member. Can you imagine how devastating that would be? (11:57)•  There were a lot of rumors after the event that Charlie, the dad who committed the murders, was sexually abusing his 17-year-old daughter, Marie. She had actually told a friend that she had become pregnant by her father. Now there was a rumor that Charlie had told Marie that if she ever told her mother, and this is a quote, some killing would be done. So it is believed that there's a possibility that Marie told her mom that she had been impregnated by her father, at which point he found out and carried out what he promised and killed the entire family. If y'all are like me, I would love to go to this location. But shortly after the murders, Charlie's brother opened the home as a tourist attraction. Now this is a place that I would want to go. This to me would be a vacation. It probably would be for most of you as well. So apparently when Charlie murdered Marie, the daughter that he supposedly was sleeping with, she was in the middle of baking a cake. The cake that Marie baked that day was actually on display in the home when the tourists would come in. Well guess what? People are weird and the visitors, the tourists that were coming into the house, started taking raisins off the cake for souvenirs. So people, come on. Like eventually it had to be covered with glass so that no one could touch it because everyone thought it would be cool to have a raisin off this cake that Marie baked that night. So all of the Lawsons, the entire family, were laid to rest in this family graveyard. And Arthur, who was 17 at the time, of course he was the only survivor, he's the one that came home and found his entire family had been shot. So he of course survived and went on to get married and have some children, actually four children. And then later in 1945 he was killed in a motor vehicle crash.
