Summary: In consideration of the markets getting slaughtered, where is the best place to put your money? Toni Patillo comes on the show to talk about the real estate market, as the primary constant in today's economy is real property. In order to be successful in real estate, however, it's crucial to understand where you're investing, and where this particular area within the market is headed. Tune in for more insight. Highlights: -There is a discrepancy about where true wealth comes from; is there a way to reconcile the two sides? =There are always fluctuations in the market, and the one constant is real property -In light of the record gains we've seen in real estate prices over the last three years, there have been unsustainable high prices and increasing rents/mortgages. The real estate sector is bound for carnage -If you're just getting into real estate investing, do you stay the course? -Many people are waiting for prices to come down, but it doesn't look like this will happen any time soon -It's all about location, or where you're investing, and how much equity you have in the property -It's a tough market to flip a house -Labor and materials can have a huge impact on your bottom line -For those who want to get into real estate, the objective is long term gain Useful Links: Financial Survival Network Toni Patillo

Imagine a small group of high school students needing armed United States military just to get into school. In September 1957 9. African American students, the first to enroll at Central high School in Little Rock, Arkansas, were accompanied by armed national guard members They became known as the Little Rock Nine. Among them was 15-year-old Melba Patillo, later Melba Patillo Beals. Somehow, she and the rest of a little rock nine escaped any kind of serious physical harm. I first met her in 1994, when she wrote a memoir of her experience called warriors. Don't cry.
Myra, Desi & Mojo discuss Tonga volcanic eruption and tsunami in this episode. On 19 January, the Government of Tonga issued a State of Emergency. There are three confirmed fatalities: one British national, a female from Mango Island, and a male from Nomuka Island. The government deployed two vessels with health teams and water, food, and tents to the Ha'apai group, where the islands of Mango, Fonoifua, and Nomuka have been impacted. All houses were destroyed on Mango island; only two houses remain on Fonoifua island, and Nomuka island experienced extensive damage. Also, the government announced that 21 homes were completely damaged and 35 severely damaged in parts of the western side of Tongatapu, including Kanokupolu. Residents had been evacuated to evacuation centers and supplied with relief items. The volcano is usually not much to look at. It consists of two small uninhabited islands, Hunga-Ha'apai and Hunga-Tonga, poking about 100m above sea level 65km north of Tonga's capital Nuku'alofa. But hiding below the waves is a massive volcano, around 1800m high and 20km wide. They also discuss civil rights attorney Robert Patillo who said most of this crime is being pushed by drug gangs throughout the country. So we need to use some of our counterterrorism laws, the same ones they're using to prosecute people for other crimes around the country, use it to prosecute many of these drug gangs that are terrorizing communities. Let's do something about importing guns and drugs across the southern border. I think Republicans and Democrats can agree on that. Let's reform the way that we police to get officers out of the car, back walking a beat, knowing the people in their community to inspire the type of trust and understanding necessary so that you can have a community that works with the police and police to work with the district. Why aren't we putting money into the types of programs that will get [young teenagers] off the streets and into STEM coding classes? Get them certifications and the kind of educational support needed so that they don't have to turn to a life of crime? And we also have to turn to our church leaders and clergy. They've traditionally held a leadership role in the community. We've got a church body now that seems more interested in building giant stadium-sized churches and being on television than getting into the community and doing the types of marches that we've seen from people like Father Pfleger in Chicago, Reverend Jesse Jackson [and] other pastors around the country who are trying to be in the community and be involved. What do you think about the volcano's explosion? --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

"Please note the photo above has been edited to obscure the nudity in this print version of the article in order to avoid offending readers. The unedited photo can be viewed on our website on the article which will carry a content warning". That was the caption in the Whanganui Chronicle to a photo of artist Andrea Gardner's print after it won the Whanganui 2021 Patillo Art Prize. You might expect the piece featured a large and confronting nude photograph. In fact it's a small, historic, painted image of a woman's breasts - an intregral part of Andrea's print called "Now I Have Your Attention". Except now in the newspaper photo version, a piece of tape extends across the woman's nipples. Lynn Freeman was puzzled why this would happen in 2021, and asked Andrea Gardner for her reactions. We have this statement from the Sarjeant Gallery that manages the Patillo prize. "The Sarjeant Gallery Te Whare o Rehua Whanganui is very happy with Ms Gardner's winning work "Now I Have Your Attention" and is delighted that this year's judge Reuben Friend chose it as the Open Award winner of the 2021 Pattillo Whanganui Arts Review. We are proud to have Andrea's work hanging at Sarjeant on the Quay with the 156 other Arts Review exhibitors and see no reason to censor the image in any way. As one of NZ's significant regional art galleries we welcome art that makes you think and Ms Gardner's work does exactly that".

Welcome, dear listener, to yet another podcast about T_he Marmoset Chronicles_. We know, we know; what else could there possibly be to say about the 8-movie magnum opus of reclusive writer/director/wise man Laz Patillo. You've seen the movies, hear the soundtracks, seen it all referenced in sitcoms and torn apart on bad YouTube channels. What else is there to say? Well, we have no idea, but maybe we can find out. Our mission is to talk about these movies through the lens of what they mean to us; what it was like to grow up with them not when the first movie wrestled Catch-22 for the box office top spot one fateful weekend in June 1970, but instead in the early 2000s, finding an old Diagnosis Aqquamarine-branded lunchbox in a pawn shop, or hearing a bunch of aging nerds at a local convention debating over whether Patillo fled to Spain or Zimbabwe. What does it mean to know these movies, which EVERYONE knows, 50 years after The Phantom and the Wren first made it's debut? Let's find out. You can find Jay on Twitter at @extremesalsaing and Kirsten at @kirstenmwrites. Our album art, a faithful play on the original poster for The Phantom and the Wren, was drawn by Alyssa Krasnansky, who can be found on Twitter @imajoyk.

Hosted by Dr. John Huber (http://www.mainstreammentalhealth.org)=====================Featured guest: Toni PatilloTopic: Preventing Elder AbuseWebsite: ToniPatillo.comElder abuse is a topic I’ve discussed many times on webinars, phone conferences, in coaching sessions, while teaching in classrooms and when sitting with real estate clients and their family members. Personal Story: When the market crashed in 2007, I had to move my mother to Las Vegas to live with her favorite nephew who is a very successful ophthalmologist for the past 40 years there locally. He was recently divorced and living along in a 6,000 square foot home and it was perfect timing for him as he cherished the idea that he could host his favorite aunt in his home for however long we needed. The stipulation with him was that we hire a full-time caregiver, not live-in. Over time as the economy continued to worsen, the full time caregiver we hired finally convinced my mom's Dr. to let her move into the home and operate as a LIVE-IN. From that point on she began to take ownership of the opportunity and became very controlling with my mother. My mother was reluctant to tell anyone of what she was experiencing and it wasn’t until much later that we, the family, discovered that she was being abused. It was the doctor that contacted me to share that she felt something was not right. The doctor had been sending messages back to the family that we weren’t receiving. Finally, the doctor contacted me directly with her concerns. I immediately moved her back to LA with me and my sister. My mother was physiologically devastated and was afraid to bother us with this nightmare. She was so grateful for all that we were doing for her well being that she didn’t want to worry us. This is a very common story through out our country. I have to say that it was just after my mother made her transition that I decided to really plug in to the 50+ market and get connected with all the networking groups so that I could stay on top of these things and potentially help my fellow agents/peers and my clients. Simply put, it affects all of us and like all other social and health problems plaguing our society, it’s much better to be proactive than reactive. With that in mind, today is all about practical things both you and your family members can do to prevent elder abuse.GET THE WORD OUT Education is the silver bullet in the fight to prevent elder abuse. Gather as much credible information as possible and communicate with your aging loved ones and any professionals with whom they interact. You might be asking, “why educate the professionals? Don’t they already understand?” Well it’s good for multiple reasons. First, elder abuse may not be part of their every day work concerns or training. Therefore, the professional is ill equipped to effectively recognize when it’s happening. They need and will appreciate the help. Second, it puts on notice any professional who may have had less than pure motives, that you are informed and watching.BEWARE OF SUBSTANCE ABUSE Alcohol and prescription drug abuse are more and more common among the elderly. Sometimes an addictive personality is the problem, but more often than not our loved ones are getting addicted to over prescribed drugs for legitimate health issues. This is so dangerous and can cause many internal issues that are hard to see until it’s too late. Also, because the drugs affect cognitive judgment, he or she becomes more vulnerable to other forms of abuse such as financial abuse.JOIN SUPPORT GROUPSDid you know that there are probably a dozen support groups in driving distance for aging adults and their families? I’m not kidding; they’re out there. A support group is a great place to get information and make friends who will go out of their way to be available to you and your loved one. Having a sense of community will be of great comfort when the challenges of aging come.STAY CONNECTED Social isolation leads to depression and poor decisions. Your loved one will become more vulnerable to scams and may even let abusers into their lives purely out of boredom and loneliness. Keep your aging loved one connected with friends and family. Get them out of the house and engaged with physical activity and hobbies.KEEP PERSONAL INFORMATION PRIVATE The aging population is a target for all sorts of identity theft. I’ve literally stopped a house from being stolen right out from under a client’s nose. It’s terrible. Be sure your loved ones are protecting their identity in a every way possible. Here are a few good tips.· Have them freeze their credit. It’s easy to do and prevents anyone from using their social security number to open new accounts.· Sign them up for an identity theft protection service such as Life-lock that will alert them when there is a breach.· Have them post and open their own mail or allow only you to do it for them.· Warn them against ever giving their personal information over the phone. Criminals have gotten very clever and will be persuasive.PLAN FOR THE FUTUREHelp your loved ones plan for the future. With a power of attorney or a living will, you both can address health care decisions to avoid confusion and family problems later. Seek independent advice from someone you trust before having them sign any documents.DON’T LET JUST ANYONE IN THE DOOR Carefully interview anyone who might be given access to your loved ones home such as a part-time healthcare worker. Don’t be afraid to ask for referrals before any hiring decision is made. Finally, feel free to drop in unannounced to get a more authentic view of what happens on a daily basis.

“When God puts something together, it doesn’t have to look like anything you’ve ever seen or sound like anything you’ve ever heard, there’s an anointing and power to it.”” This week on The Song Revolution Podcast, John Chisum and Jackie Patillo talk about the gospel music industry, and the past, present, and future of gospel music. Jackie Patillo is the Executive Director of the Gospel Music Association. She has a rich history in the music industry, working as the Vice President of Star Song Communications, as well as working for Benson Music Group, Integrity, and Verity. She has had the opportunity to help develop and give guidance to the music career of many artists including Phillips, Craig & Dean, Joe Pace and The Colorado Mass Choir, Israel and New Breed, Natalie Grant, Donnie McClurkin, Kirk Franklin, Byron Cage, Kurt Carr, Dave Hollister. “There is nothing like being able to put words in the mouth of the Church to extol our King, there’s nothing more powerful than that.” The term “Gospel Music” can at times lend itself to certain connotations about genre and style. However, in this podcast we talk about the wide range of gospel music, and the reach of gospel music across a wide variety of genres. Part of Jackie’s role at GMA is running the Dove Awards that are hosted each year in Nashville. Jackie provides a sneak peek behind the work done behind the scenes for this Awards ceremony, as well as other events that occur throughout the year. “Gospel music is not defined by its style, but by its message.” The Gospel Music Association has created new opportunities for young Christian creatives to find connection and career development. They have a program devoted to Christian Executives under 30, and also a community to support band wives. If you aren’t already a part of GMA, you should be! Visit their website to learn more, and join a community that will support your aspirations as a songwriter. “I consider our artists modern day Christian soldiers… They’re heeding the call, they’re using their talents and giftings, and they’re making sacrifice to spread the gospel through music.” Some topics we talk about in this episode: Introduction // Jackie Patillo - 0:56 Jackie’s Journey in the CCM Industry - 3:12 Jackie’s work with GMA & The Dove Awards - 10:15 Work at Lipscomb University - 20:50 The Past, Present, and Future of GMA - 24:50 The Mission of GMA - 35:12 Opportunities for Young Christian Creatives - 37:32 Wrap Up - 41:22 How to get involved Join the Successful Christian Songwriters Group on Facebook and continue the discussion! https://www.facebook.com/groups/SuccessfulChristianSongwriters/ Check out all of the resources for you to become the songwriter you were meant to be at www.nashvillechristiansongwriters.com If you liked this episode, be sure to subscribe and leave a quick review on iTunes. My first guest on the Tami Jackson Show* tonight will be True Tamplin. True Tamplin is an entrepreneur and author of the #1 Amazon Bestseller Raising an Executive: Igniting Your Son's Inner Executive To Outperform His Peers and Continue Your Legacy. At age 13, True's father Ken Tamplin was offered to be the lead singer for Journey. Despite desperately needing the money, the 5-year touring contract was too great a sacrifice. He turned the offer down, and now True has checked every box an executive would want for his son: giving his grad speech, covering The Daily Pilot, garnering a full-ride to his school of choice, maintaining Suma Cum Laude 4.0 GPA, marrying the girl of his dreams, running a successful Analytics and Online Marketing company, and writing an Amazon #1 Bestseller, all by the age of 22. True is utterly convinced that none of his early successes would have come had his father accepted the Journey contract. Now True's story has become his plea to fight for executives to spend more time with their sons. True has gone on to become a CEO coach and creating the Raising An Executive mentorship program for their sons to one day outdo their fathers. Episode 30: This week's episode focuses on the different types of psychic children, and what their purpose is here on the planet. Kim interviews counselor and author, Nikki Patillo, who specializes in guidance for children with psychic gifts. Nikki talks about the different distinctions between indigo, rainbow and crystal children. She also gives advice for parents of gifted children, as well as her own experiences that have led her to be a respected and valued resource for parents and children alike. Nikki Patillo grew up in coastal Texas, and started her career as a clinical and molecular biologist. Her own psychic experiences as a child led her to the work she now does counseling adults and children having their own spiritual experiences. She teaches children not to be fearful or ashamed of their psychic gifts, and how to pull their inner strength from spirit to continue their mission as lightworkers on the planet. Teaching improvisation is like Fight Club. The first rule of teaching improvisation is you don’t talk about improvisation! That’s Project Trio’s approach, and it’s totally compelling. 10 years ago, Peter took all the energy and drive he had for the audition circuit and poured into getting Project Trio off the ground. We talked about it back then. Fast-forward to the present, and the results of this hard work have paid dividends. Learn about what Peter did and the results he got in this interview!
