Dr. Patrick Ward currently works in the Research & Development Department of Seattle Seahawks focusing on research strategy in football operations - opponent research, player evaluation, scouting, applied physiology, & sport science. We start out the conversation with differentiating between what people think sport scientists do versus what they typically do. And the conversation only gets better from there. Shoutout to our sponsors, Sorinex and EliteForm, for making these episodes possible.
Producers do not have to compromise performance and profitability for sustainability. We sat down with Alltech's Dr. Patrick Ward during the Alltech ONE conference in Calgary on how farmers can balance all three. For the full story, go to Rural Roots Canada, where we Amplify Canadian Agriculture.
It has been a very, very busy July. Between the International Federation of Agriculture Journalist Congress happening in Olds, Alberta, Alltech ONE's world tour coming to Calgary, the Calgary Stampede and Ag in Motion in Saskatoon and of course, the ongoing drought conditions farmers have been dealing with there has been no shortage of things to talk about conversations to be had and stories to be told. We are trying something new a podcast designed to cover all of the conversations we are having and stories we are telling across our platforms. This first episode is a bit of a catch-up, we are going back to the great Alltech ONE conference that took place in Calgary in early July. There are two conversations, in particular, we wanted to share with you. One is a conversation our friend Chuck Zimmerman from AgWired had with Alltech President and CEO Dr. Mark Lyons where they discussed about the Alltech ONE tour and issues facing farmers. The second is with Dr. Patrick Ward, Applications Manager for Europe and Asia Pacific for Alltech. He chatted with us about not compromising performance and profitability for sustainability, the Alltech acquisition of Switzerland-based Agolin, breaking down the silos between agriculture and food, and the importance of farmers holding on to their hard-earned carbon credits.

Photo by Siednji Leon on Unsplash然后第二个你要考虑的问题就是观赏环境。

In this episode of the Thoughtful Entrepreneur, your host Josh Elledge speaks with the Vice President of Marketing for https://www.rootstrap.com/ (Rootstrap), Patrick Ward. Rootstrap is a custom software development agency but as Patrick likes to describe it, the technology team behind Masterclass. Masterclass gained help from Rootstrap to aid in making sure their technology can handle its audience and keeping it consistent between devices. Due to Masterclass being a premium service, the need for good technology is higher. Typical clients involve individuals with time sensitive projects or individuals needing ongoing technical advice. Patrick explains that changing the roadmap on a developer will cost the client. This is because compromises did not have to be made as they were able to work on it on their own timeline. Patrick explains he would rather keep his integrity with his clients rather than making more money off them. The work culture of Rootstrap has been able to stay strong and close throughout the pandemic. This was due to the management taking the necessary changes to promote remote work and providing resources to help their employees during this time. Patrick's book he wrote alongside Adam Torres, Money Matters: World's Leading Entrepreneurs Reveal Their Top Tips To Success (Business Leaders Vol.3 - Edition 5), is good for CEOs or entrepreneurs of small to medium scale business who need a better idea of marketing. Leaders of B2B - Interviews on B2B Leadership, Tech, SaaS, Revenue, Sales, Marketing and Growth
Patrick Ward, Vice President of Marketing at Rootstrap, delivers a mini-masterclass on marketing in this episode. Ward talks about the transformation of marketing in three stages. Marketing has evolved over the years through their channels and objectives. First was the period where marketing campaigns were about creative ideas and casting a wide net. The second stage was a period where technology was used to track marketing spend. The stage we are in is about personalization and setting the stage for acquiring the right customer.Ward ties marketing very closely to human psychology. A successful marketer would be able to target the right customer based on their profile. Tools like Crystal Knows, DISC, and Enneagram Institute are some great starting points. He emphasizes that marketing is not about hacking technology or tools like SEO. It's about truly connecting to people and establishing trust and credibility, so they can be long-term clients. In terms of organizational leadership, Ward talks about the importance of getting your people to care about the business. The right communications and setting the culture are vital to accomplishing this. Don't be afraid to hire more experienced, smarter people because they will expand the business more exponentially than you could.Business leaders looking to grow their businesses sustainably through a solid marketing strategy will find this episode extremely educational.Crystal Knows - https://www.crystalknows.com/DISC Assessment - https://www.tonyrobbins.com/disc/Enneagram Institute - https://www.enneagraminstitute.com/Website - https://www.rootstrap.com/LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/patrickjamesward/This episode is brought to you by Content Allies.Content Allies helps B2B tech companies launch revenue-generating podcasts. Patrick Ward - MI Podcast Blake: [00:00:00] welcome to the podcast today, Patrick Ward, who is a director of marketing at Rootstrap. Patrick, how are you doing today? [00:00:07] Patrick: [00:00:07] Thanks for having me, Blake. [00:00:09] Blake: [00:00:09] Thank you very much for coming on. Really excited to talk to you about LinkedIn and B2B lead generation. And specifically just giving advice to help micro-influencers and entrepreneurs and people that are building something in this particular area. [00:00:22] But before we get into that, I do want to get a little bit of context on you, just so that we can have a little social proof, if you will, of who you are, where you've been. So first and foremost, what's your professional super power according to you? [00:00:35] Patrick: [00:00:35] Oh, that's a great question. Like I would say my professional superpower is being able to connect with audiences regardless of industry. [00:00:45] And what I mean by that is. In a cross, I think nine different industries now and all using the same foundation of marketing, specifically writing. I started as a copywriter in the insurance space. Then went through food and beverage, tech, travel, finance, real estate in name, and I've done it. And what I've been able to do is take those core fundamental skills of writing and then apply them to different industries so that yes, there's a little bit of a change with , language or across those different industries. [00:01:19] But at the end of the day, we are still communicating to few months and if everyone can understand that, and that's really where you can start to see some success. One of the things I often notice as I've gone through my career. people try and make it too complicated. They try and think that one area is very unique and another area is also exceptional. [00:01:43] And really at the end of the day, who are you selling to? You're selling to people. People. We have way more similarities than differences. Do you understand that you can be very successful? Well, I'm [00:01:56] Blake: [00:01:56] curious, according to you, what percentage of the industries you've worked in would be considered boring. [00:02:02] Patrick: [00:02:02] Oh, easily 80 to 90%. [00:02:05] I think I do travel and food and beverage for a bit, but every single other one, insurance, real estate, finance, even the tech I'm doing, it's not even a quote unquote sexy tech. It's all, beta, beta app development. It's all talking in terms of how do we scale it. So very numbered space. it's all. On part, as you say, very boring. [00:02:29]and the funny thing is that's what, that's where I really shine because I'm able to bring a perspective of, Hey, we can bring entertainment, we can bring content, we can bring, you know, an exciting level of value to the people. That we are communicating to because at the end of the day, they are still humans. [00:02:49] You might say, Oh, well it's a CEO. They want to be serious. Well, next CEOs on always serious. They do last too. You know? They are still people, so you don't have to communicate in a boring way just because it's, you know, someone who's a C suite or a decision maker. [00:03:09] Blake: [00:03:09] Yeah, for sure. I mean that's ultimately, that's why I was curious because. [00:03:13] We get in our heads that just because something's boring, you know? That's how it is, but sometimes you just got to disrupt the way that we write and speak and communicate with other people. And I think, I'm sure going to get into that a little bit more tactfully, especially with how we do this for LinkedIn to generate leads for B2B specifically. [00:03:33] Mmm. Before that though, just want to get a quick reference on a snapshot of your career so far, where you started and how you got to where you are now. [00:03:42] Patrick: [00:03:42] Yeah, totally. So I started as a copywriter in an ad agency. Home country of...
In episode 68 UNP founder and curator Grant Scott is in his shed starting Part 3 of a three part series reflecting upon the history, funding, distribution, cost, creation, expectation, audience and future for photo books. This week he looks at self-publishing, crowd funding and distribution. It will be inspiring, informative and enjoyable! You can find out here: www.patreon.com/aphotographiclifepodcast In 1973, Colin Wilkinson founded the Open Eye project in Liverpool, England (that directly led to the Open Eye Gallery opening in 1977). Colin based the project on the Canadian Challenge for Change programme - which was established to give a voice to minority communities particularly through film and the emerging portable video technology. He pulled together a largely inexperienced small group of people and made 16mm films about community festivals before engaging community groups in making short videos. The project expanded and he acquired a derelict ex-public house in the centre of Liverpool on the basis of a six month lease which became a 10 year long residency. This gave him space to expand his vision of a community facility offering film, video, photography and sound recording. The ground floor bar area became the gallery (occasionally doubling up as a cinema) with a cafe attached. During the late 1970s, it became a key meeting place for bands (Echo & the Bunnymen and the Teardrop Explodes practised in the basement below), photographers and other creatives. In 1982, he set up a commercial photographic company and in 1992 he founded Bluecoat Press, specialising in local history books with a high photographic content and published over 200 books until the 2008 financial crisis. Colin assessed his situation and decided that he would have to concentrate on a niche market he had the greatest interest in - and so became a photobook specialist. Since 2012, Bluecoat Press has specialised in publishing the work of British photojournalists and social documentary photographers including John Bulmer, Rob Bremner, Peter Dench, Bert Hardy, Jim Mortram, Tish Murtha, Paul Trevor, Nick Hedges, Hugh Hood and Patrick Ward.
