Galway's senior footballers return to action this Saturday (16th March 2024) when they host All-Ireland champions Dublin in the penultimate round of the National League. The Tribesmen haven't beaten the Metropolitans since the 2010 league when Fiachra Breathnach scored a goal and Eoin Concannon contributed eight points. There are no changes from the starting team that beat Monaghan 3-12 to 0-14 two weeks previously but the bench has notable names in Conor Flaherty, Paul Conroy and Liam Silke. A result for Galway would guarantee their Division 1 status for 2025. Leading up to the game, Galway senior football manager Padraic Joyce has been chatting to Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly. == Throw-in at Pearse Stadium on Saturday is 3.15pm and we'll have LIVE coverage here on Galway Bay FM. The 'Over The Line' weekend preview show with Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly broadcasts every Friday evening from 7pm.
With just three points from four fixtures, Galway's hopes of avoiding relegation from Division 1 of the Allianz National Football League could depend on getting a result away to Monaghan this Sunday (3rd March 2024). The Tribesmen are one point ahead of the Farney men who've suffered heavy defeat to Kerry, Derry and Roscommon after an opening day victory over Dublin. While the Tribesmens' survival will still be in their own hands regardless of the result, their final two fixtures are against last year's All-Ireland finalists Dublin and Kerry. St. James' Paul Conroy and St. Brendan's' Rory Cunningham have come into the starting team. Galway beat Monaghan 1-13 to 0-10 in 2023, but fell to Monaghan in a relegation play-off in 2021. Leading up to the game, Galway Bay FM's Kevin Dwyer joined Darren Kelly on 'Over The Line' to run through the team selection and how he reckons Galway will get on at the weekend. == Throw-in at St. Tiarnach's Park, Clones on Sunday is 3.15pm and we'll have LIVE coverage here on Galway Bay FM. The 'Over The Line' weekend preview show with Galway Bay FM's Darren Kelly broadcasts every Friday evening from 7pm.
This is special episode to mark the second anniversary of invasion of Ukraine in 2022.Russia had already annexed Crimea in 2014, and separatists backed by Moscow also sparked fighting in Ukraine's Donbas region in the same year. The world mostly looked the other way, until Russia launched a full scale invasion of its neighbour two years ago on the false pretext that it was seeking to deNazify Ukraine.Since then more than 42,000 Ukrainian troops are thought to have been killed and 11,000 civilians. Russia's losses are thought to exceed 150,000 soldiers.Reporter Zarina Zabrisky, who's been covering the conflict from Ukraine for the Byline Times, has been talking to politicians, military experts, artists and 'ordinary' people to get a sense of how Ukraine is dealing with the conflict. The episode is narrated by her colleague, the war photographer Paul Conroy.Produced in Birmingham by Adrian Goldberg. Funded by subscriptions to the Byline Times. The Galway senior football team sees just one change from the side that beat Tyrone for Sunday's (25th February 2024) National League Round 4 encounter with Derry. Cein D'Arcy comes into the first 15, replacing the injured Matthew Tierney. But in good news for Padraic Joyce's charges, St. James' Paul Conroy is fit enough to start, while Claregalway's Jack Glynn is included in the matchday 26. The team in full: Connor Gleeson in goal; A full back line of Johnny McGrath, Seán Fitzgerald and Seán Mulkerrin; Dylan McHugh, captain John Daly and Kieran Molloy are the half backs; Paul Conroy partners John Maher in midfield; Johnny Heaney, Cein D'Arcy and Cathal Sweeney are on the '40; And an inside line of Robert Finnerty, Cillian Ó Curraoin and Liam Ó Conghaile. After the team was announced, Galway Bay FM's Jonathan Higgins joined Darren Kelly on 'Over The Line.' == Throw-in at Pearse Stadium on Sunday is 1.45pm and we'll have LIVE coverage here on Galway Bay FM. The 'Over The Line' weekend preview show broadcasts with Darren Kelly broadcasts every Friday evening from 7pm on Galway Bay FM.

We caught up with Paul Conroy, CEO of FareShare Australia for Prodcast episode 73! FareShare rescues food from supermarkets, wholesalers, manufacturers and farmers and then cooks it into nutritious meals for people in need. Paul heads operations including our kitchens, logistics and kitchen gardens. Their Chefs and volunteers work hand in hand to cook thousands of meals. But what makes them so different? They recognised that people enduring food insecurity often don't eat every day. When they do, it's usually just one meal for the day, so FareShare does everything possible to make nutritious meals that boost physical and mental health. Why? Because we are what we eat and if it's only going to be one meal, it better be a good one, right?! The connection between food, mood and overall health and performance is astronomical. So without further or do, let's get into the episode where we chat to the legendary Paul. Enjoy!
This episode starts off with the discussion of being a first time dog dad to a German Shepard. Paul shares his true feelings about the training he did and how he felt through Kobe's progression in to adolescence. We talk about training, kenneling, and living with a 'reactive' dog as well as the steps Paul and his partner, Keshia, took to aid Kobe through their first year and a half together as new pet parents. On this week's episode of Mocs on the Mic presented by SmartBank, host Chris Goforth is talking Chattanooga golf and the NCAA. The Chattanooga Mocs recently wrapped up play in the Southern Conference Women's & Men's Golf Championships. The ladies went first in scenic Myrtle Beach, S.C., battling rainy, windy conditions at Barefoot Landing Resort's Dye Course. The men had a whole other experience battling a hot humid three days at plush Reynolds Lake Oconee tucked away in eastern Georgia on the Oconee Course. The women have endured quite the spring being limited to four student-athletes available for play. Coach Colette Murray's side soldiered on and competed well finishing fourth led by the seventh SoCon Champion in school history, junior Dorota Zalewska. It was a dramatic one-shot win for the Polish native with a hole-in-one on 17 offsetting Wofford's Becca Earl birdieing the final two as the paired dueled in the same group over 54 holes. The men were paced by sophomore Paul Conroy who shot 7-under 209 over three days battling the Geogia heat later that week. Conroy finished fourth as the team settled for fifth. Our host Chris Goforth is joined by our champ, Dori, along with women's coach Colette Murray and men's interim leader Miles Moseley. In February 2012 - a year after the war in Syria had started - photographer Paul Conroy and Sunday Times correspondent Marie Colvin smuggled themselves into the war-ravaged Syrian city of Homs. As the first journalists on the scene, they witnessed the targeted attacks perpetrated by the Syrian government on women, children and civilian hospitals. As they were broadcasting the siege of Homs live to the world, the Syrian regime was using their satellites to locate and target them. The missile attack that followed killed both Marie and French photojournalist Rémi Ochlik and severely injured Paul. Ten years on since the start of the conflict in Syria, Paul Conroy talks to former Sunday Times journalist and colleague of Marie Colvin, Tom Pattinson, about those fateful hours in Homs.- - - - -Show notes and transcription: DEF086 - Show Notes- - - - -Timestamps:Coming soon…- - - - -The success of Defiance will be largely down to the support of you, the listener. The Chattanooga Mocs golf teams are back on campus and preparing for the spring portion of the season. Both teams experienced fall success with the men sweeping titles at Western Carolina's event in Georgia and one of the ladies earning her first collegiate win in South Carolina. The women's side brings back the same 6-person roster. Five of the six recorded a top 10 along the way in the 4-tourney swing led by sophomore Esme Hamilton. The guys played in three events claiming a win at the J.T. Poston Invite. It was a clean sweep with A.J. Lintunen earning his first collegiate win. The group's 835 (-17) is the third-best 54-hole total in school history and best tallied outside the Chattanooga metro area. The 835 is lowest since 819 (-45) winning the 2008 Aldila Scenic City Invite at Council Fire. The guys' roster differs from the women with two additions for the spring side of things. They are Utah State transfer Gabe Hunter, a freshman from Alcoa, and the Emerald Isle's Paul Conroy, a freshman and first Irishman on the roster under Mark Guhne. Both enter the mix competing for the starting lineup. The ladies start a 7-event spring run to the postseason on Feb. 1-2 at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas. The men have five dates opening three weeks later in Hilton Head at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate. Both squads are preparing for mid-April postseason work at the Southern Conference Championships with the women headed to Kiawah Island and the men in Reynolds Lake Oconee in Georgia.
He's worked in some of the most war torn places on earth, and yet amongst this chaos he's met the most positive and good humoured people. As a war photographer Paul Conroy was used to experiencing the horrors of conflict a daily basis. In 2012 he entered Syria with journalist Marie Colvin, where they were targeted with artillery by the Assad regime, which sadly Marie did not survive. Paul documented his experience in his book Under the Wire, which was made into a documentary under the same name, as well as a Hollywood movie. Paul's unique perspective has the power to help us all to be more appreciative of what we have. *** A massive thank you to our wonderful sponsors! OG CHAT BEHIND CLOSED DOORS EPISODE 40 This episode was recorded at the pandemic times in New York . We all experienced that harsh reality of world wide crisis . OG Talk crew decided to create a special segment for that period and we called it "OG Chat, Behind Closed Doors". Today we enjoy a company of Paul John Conroy. The phrase: "Been there, done that! " definitely describes the diversity of Paul's experiences. Here is a list of the journeys Mr. Conroy took part in : Artist manager A&R, Roadrunner Records, managing of of the most prominent metal band Lamb of God, partnership with Carl Severson at Ferret Records. He moved his family to West Coast, to enter into the sports entertainment. And finally his current company Plus Foundry and its new iteration called Impact Real Life (“IRL”) is making a splash in helping companies build events that generate new revenue lines and create definitive brand extensions in real life. Paul Conroy was very honest with Eddie and Vlad about his personal evolution over the years : feeling sluggish and drained that forced him to adapt his attitude and habits re health, wellness, work and family. During the chat Paul shared about his life long struggle with anxiety and how he learned to deal with it. We could not and would avoid the subject of racism and social justice that all whole world is tune in right now. The sincerity and honest of the conversation have proved, at least to the three of us : even though you dont know of a solution to a challenge as of yet , but you are honest , sincere . passionate and compassionate about it , your own effort and though who work on it with you , will lead you to a a problem solving . We really enjoyed time with Paul and hope you find this episode helpful .
Lois Reitzes interviews harpist and activist Angelica Hairston about Challenge The Stats and their upcoming virtual event "Music for the Crisis"; Clare Summerskill about her work in comedy and acting; Melissa Fougler and Austin Hughes about DramaTech's virtual performance of "Boom"; and Out Front Theatre's Paul Conroy about "Standing Ceremony: The Gay Marriage Plays."

Paul Conroy man of the match
Paul Conroy is a British freelance photographer and filmmaker who works in the British media. A former soldier with the Royal Artillery between 1980 and 1987, he has since worked extensively as a journalist in combat zones, producing footage from conflicts in the Balkans, the Middle East and Libya. In 2011 he was shortlisted for the PRX Bayeux TV report along with Marie Colvin, the war correspondent with The Sunday Times. On 22 February 2012 during the Syrian uprising, Conroy was injured while covering events from the Syrian city of Homs, a stronghold of Syrian opposition forces, after the building where he and other journalists were based was shelled by Syrian government forces. Marie Colvin and French photojournalist Remi Ochlik were killed in the attack, while Conroy was injured along with another journalist, French reporter Edith Bouvier of Le Figaro. His book (now also an award-winning documentary) Under the Wire is the epic, untold account of Conroy and Colvin’s last, tragic assignment together. @reflextv Stories from the 5x15 special recorded in aid of Hands Up for Syria Foundation at The Tabernacle 7th November 2019. 5x15 brings together five outstanding individuals to tell of their lives, passions and inspirations. When photographer Paul Conroy was injured during a Syrian rocket attack in 2012, his first thought was probably not how this might change reporting of the war. Two other journalists died in the same attack - Remi Ochlik and Marie Colvin. Paul survived, wrote a book which became the basis for a famous documentary, and then worked as consultant on a major film, A Private War. Does his story represent a more powerful way of understanding the war? Five decades ago Gerald Scarfe went to Asia for The Daily Mail to cover the Vietnam war. He drew it, and here he shares his experiences with Paul as they discuss whether there are different ways to bring back the news. Future programmes in this series to include artist Arabella Dorman. The producer in Bristol is Miles Warde
Paul Conroy started in music, managing artists, then doing just about everything behind the scenes having immense success all around. “Under the Wire” tells the story of journalist Marie Colvin and photographer Paul Conroy covering a deadly siege in the Syrian city of Homs. Filmmaker Chris Martin adapt’s Conroy’s book “Under the Wire: Marie Colvin’s Final Assignment” with harrowing footage of Conroy’s journey trying to escape Syria after being wounded in a bombing.
By the time she died in Syria, in 2012, Marie Colvin was one of the world's most renowned and courageous war correspondents. Recognised for her trademark eye patch - the consequence of a grenade in Sri Lanka, in 2001 - and revered as a journalist, with a 25 year tenure at The Sunday Times, Marie Colvin had a personal life as tumultuous as the war zones she covered. With the help of 300 of Marie's journals, her friend and colleague, Channel 4's International Editor, Lindsey Hilsum, has written a funny, frank and moving biography, In Extremis: The Life of War Correspondent Marie Colvin, where she separates the myth from the woman: as brave as she is glamorous; as fierce as she is vulnerable. Ahead of the release of A Private War - a film of Marie's life, with Rosamund Pike as Marie and Jamie Dornan as photographer, Paul Conroy - we talk to Lindsey about her friendship with Marie, the reality of being a war correspondent and how you keep mentally strong and sane, the bad news cycle, social media and MeToo. We often hear career counselors and teachers talking to young people about following their passion. Obviously good advice. But for some, that passion comes with a price. For esteemed war correspondent Marie Colvin, that passion, her desire to bear witness to the horrors of war would cost her her life. The same is true for British reporter and photographer Paul Conroy. He was with Colvin in Syria in early 2012 when they would come under fire in the city of HomsA rocket would kill Colvin and seriously wound Conroy. As Syrian ground forces closed in on his position, Conroy was forced to make a terrifying last-ditch attempt to escape from a regime that appeared determined to murder him. He did escape, and has written Under the Wire: Marie Colvin's Final Assignment. My conversation with Paul Conroy:

Paul Conroy is a former soldier turned photojournalist who was with war correspondent Marie Colvin when she was killed in Syria in 2012. He survived five terrifying days with serious wounds sustained during the shelling, and his eventual escape was via a tunnel under the city. His book Under the Wire - Marie Colvin's Final Assignment is published by Quercus. Douglas Villiers is an entrepreneur, property developer, artist, adventurer and film producer. From Syria, to Sri Lanka, to Russia, there are journalists ready to put themselves in harm's way to shine a light on some of the darkest corners of conflict, crime and corruption. What makes them do it? And what difference do they make? Stephen Sackur speaks to British photo journalist Paul Conroy who was wounded in the Syrian army's bombardment of the city of Homs last February which killed his Sunday Times colleague Marie Colvin. When, if ever, is telling the story worth risking your life?
