In this episode, we sit down with NCQA leaders Stacy Grundy, Rachel Harrington and Kristine Toppe for a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming Health Quality Forum 2025, and a discussion about the complexities and possibilities of modern health care, with a focus on data sharing and strategies to address health inequities.Learn about data-driven collaborations in states like Maryland, Pennsylvania and North Carolina, where public agencies, health systems and community groups are uniting to improve outcomes. And get an inside look at our hands-on workshops on NCQA Health Equity Accreditation and Virtual Care Accreditation, designed to give professionals at the leading edge of virtual services the tools they need to help reduce disparities. The conversation and conference highlight stories of how virtual care is dissolving data silos and transforming maternal health in states like Arkansas. The emphasis of this episode—and the forum—is on curating diverse voices not often featured at national meetings. The common thread: Moving beyond identifying problems to showcase solutions that work.Key Quote:“ Data for the sake of data doesn't help anybody. If it just sits there and you pat yourself on the back, ‘I've got this sitting in my database';  that doesn't help.  What you do with it, matters. We have a couple of sessions  digging into  innovating to address health disparities, talking about  analytics  to understand  populations and how to address interventions. Also, we have  sessions  focused on creating equitable systems of care for populations with disabilities.Understanding where  unmet needs are, how to  make things accessible, make things usable—data is part of that. It's understanding who, what, when, where and how to take what you're sitting on in your organization and understand it  so you can improve care.” Rachel HarringtonTime Stamps:(00:43) What's Different About the Health Quality Forum(03:40) An Expanded, Regional Lens on Quality (6:09) How NCQA Sees Data and Interoperability Differently (10:38) Improving Care in Rural Areas (16:04)  How-to Workshops on NCQA Accreditation(17:55) Personal Highlights at the Forum Links:Register for the 2025 NCQA Health ForumConnect with Stacy GrundyConnect with Rachel HarringtonConnect with Kristine Toppe

In this episode Vanessa shares her raw and real personal highlights and challenges from 2020. How she filed a consumer proposal at the beginning of January 2020 and used the year to completely reset her financial landscape. By the end of 2020 she now finds herself in a new home space, in a new city, and driving her first car. She also shares about the new foundations and milestones she made in her business, from launching an online course (EXPRESS YOURSELF) to re-designing a new website and brand. Along the way, Vanessa sheds light on how she still managed to find magic in listening and being guided by spirit to take the one trip of the year to Tulum before the world shut down with the pandemic in March. This episode will give you hope for the new year ahead and leave you feeling inspired to take action on your dreams and goals while also trusting the timing of your own life. You'll hear why it's important to honour the energy that each year brings, and that it's okay to move slowly and find grace in the challenging moments because so much can change in a year. Why I love to do my Year-End Review and Strategy Planning

This is THE most important thing I want to do before Christmas. (Yes, before all the Christmas shopping and festivities kick in! :-) For me, this is not just some kind of business To-Do, I do that to reflect on both my personal life and work, most importantly, I keep it pretty simple and fun!  What I have learned is that if I take an inventory of what happened this year and really look deep at some of my lowest moments, I rarely make the same mistakes again.  The more I count my blessings and appreciate the good things in my life, there are more to appreciate and to be grateful for. It feels good and keeps me grounded.  I remind myself of what really matters to my heart.  I let go of things or people that no longer align with my values and beliefs.  This year has gone by so fast if I don’t do this, I will feel the year has gone past me like a dream, and I haven’t really truly live through it. When I do my review, I savour and relive a lot of good memories.  So here is how I do this:  I craft out some time to be alone, undisturbed. No phone, no emails, no kids.  I think about the following and write the answers down in a notebook: 1.) My Top 3 Personal Highlights and 3 Business Highlights 2.) The Lowlights - where I didn’t feel I handled the situation well or simply making a mistake or being treated in a way that is not OK. More importantly, what is Message from the Mess (I got this phrase from Mel Robbins - Love It!)  3.)What is the one single habit I can try to make next year better? (e.g. wake up 30 mins earlier to work out? Take 10 mins during the afternoon to pause? Have my vitamins with my brekkie? Don’t check email before 10 am?)  Then, moving to next year:  4.) What are my strategic goals and top 3 results I want for next year?  5.)What is required for me to get there? (What I need to start doing, stop doing or learn or acquire?) 6.) What may be the catalyst for that to happen? ( Get a business partner? Sign up to a gym? Subscribe to an organic produce delivery service? Get a virtual assistant? Focus on my 80/20 rule?)  7.) I then look at my 12 months yearly planner, and for each quarter, what is my main Personal and Business Focus? I limited to a maximum of 3 things in each quarter and sometimes, 1 is more than enough. (e.g. I am having my second baby in late May, and so for Q2 April May June, my sole focus is nurturing myself and the newborn. And that is PLENTY to focus on!)  8.) Once I have done the BIG ROCKS for each quarter, I will add several key components under each. Just to have a rough idea of how big is each of these projects. However, I am not doing my detail breakdown just yet, I just want to get a big picture at this point.  And that’s kind of IT!  :-) There are 2 extra things I am adding to this practice.  Once I have done my review and planning, I am going to share and discuss it with my husband, especially about some of the personal goals and plans for next year. See, we parent our kids together and we are a team, I think it is so important to communicate our goals and concerns in advance and see what we solutions or preparation we can come up beforehand.  I am talking to a handful of people who know me and my business well and I want to brainstorm with them about some of the products/services and events that I am thinking to create for next year. Also, I want to hear their opinion and advice. They will likely to stop me from committing to too much!  By doing this simple and yet holistic review, I feel so much lighter about the year before and excited about the new year to come. I know it is part of the process that can help me to grow. I feel I start getting ready to prepare for a great year to come.  You can take what I do and customize your own end of year review and planning for next year.  While you are planning for next year, I think it will be really awesome to share with you a new audio program that I...
