Send us a textIn this episode I talk about the 2024 vampire movie Abigail. Its sort of like watching "Orphan" crossed with From Dusk till Dawn.I 100% go into this episode fairly unprepared. I did enjoy this movie, but maybe I need to rethink my time limit I have set myself for each episode... or maybe I should just plan more. I do get out what this movie is about, and I talk a little bit about what I think of it, PLUS I mention about the song choice SWAN LAKE they use in the film.I also give a quick take about how I think this movie should have ended.and I do all this in under 45 minutes..... but fairly rushed. Please enjoy.ABIGAILPodcast Credits; Written by Brad Eastall (aka Brad DJ)Podcast Website;braddj.com/podcast BMR starting song bit"Acent" by JoshE Music credit from looperman.com"Dubstep Drums 140 bpm Build Up" by CozyBroke Music credit from - freesound.org“Ionicsmusic” Drum&Bass 05 and 06 vol.1"Kangus Sound Editor Sound Effect" by Paulnorthyorks"Creepy Tension Rise Build Up 1" by Miksmusic"spooky music" by TheOjt"Thunderstorm Lighting Strike" by Foad"Electric Shock 10" by Mensageirocs

This week Justin and I discuss the vampire/crime flick FROM DUSK TIL DAWN. From Dusk till Dawn is a 1996 American action horror film directed by Robert Rodriguez and written by Quentin Tarantino from a concept and story by Robert Kurtzman. Starring Harvey Keitel, George Clooney, Quentin Tarantino, Ernest Liu, and Juliette Lewis, the plot follows a pair of American criminal brothers (Clooney and Tarantino) who take a family as hostages (Keitel, Liu, and Lewis) in order to cross into Mexico, but ultimately find themselves trapped in a saloon frequented by vampires. The film was released on January 17, 1996, and received mixed reviews from critics, who described the film as well-made if overly violent. After enjoying financial success at the box office, From Dusk till Dawn has since become a cult film and spawned a media franchise of sequel films, a video game and other media adaptations.Be sure to subscribe on your favorite pod platform and our YOUTUBE channel!Visit thecultworthy.comVisit https://www.themoviewire.comVideo: https://www.youtube.com/@back2thebalcony
Episode 145 of the Hey You Guys podcast is here, and this week, Liam and Rob look back at Kevin Smith's controversial turn of the century religious comedy, Dogma. Arguably one of his best movies, and certainly home to one of the decade's finest casts, Dogma remains a hugely quotable, massively likeable, and yes, narratively messy movie. Oh, and Dogma vs From Dusk 'till Dawn, that's definitely discussed.
A new combatant approaches as Dumpuary: Battle of the Genres continues with its horror representative - From Dusk till Dawn! Ben and Vaz discuss Robert Rodriguez' 1996 crime drama/vampire movie mashup. Directed by Robert Rodriguez, written by Quentin Tarantino, and starring Harvey Keitel, George Clooney, Tarantino, Juliette Lewis, and Salma Hayek.

Zoinks, Spooky Season takes a vacation to Spooky Island, as Natalie joins host Spencer to discuss the absolutely over the top live action adaptation of Scooby Doo. This might be the most early 2000's feeling movie ever made, with Sugar Ray, Matthew Lillard, Fart Jokes, and horrible CGI all over the place. So, why is this movie weirdly good, and why does it remind us so much of From Dusk til Dawn? Get your ticket, pack your bags, and join in on this last minute trip before Halloween is here!
It's got Tarantino's trademark dialogue, Rodriguez's trademark visuals and Salma Hayek dancing seductively in a bikini... what more could you want in a crime thriller slash vampire movie?Originating as a story by future Wishmaster director and KNG EFX visual effects master Robert Kurtzman, which he planned to direct as a low budget horror film, that all changed when he enlisted a then-unknown Quentin Tarantino to write the screenplay. This was well before Reservoir Dogs would put Tarantino on the map, and while Reservoir Dogs would cement his name as a director, just as El Mariachi did for Robert Rodriguez, the key to getting From Dusk till Dawn made, would be the film many believe to be his magnum opus: Pulp Fiction...With the power of Pulp Fiction behind him, Tarantino would enlist his friend Robert Rodriguez to direct, Tarantino himself to star, and arrange a deal with Miramax to pump up a $2 million budget to $17 million, as long as they could get the movie made in six months from start to finish... On today's episode, we're going to go join the fight against alien bugs, join the Roughnecks and kick some ass, and in the meantime, try to sharpen our pet psychic skills, while revisit the sci-fi cult classic, Starship Troopers (1997). This movie was directed by Paul Verhoeven and written by Ed Neumeier. This movie stars Casper Van Dien (Casper Meets Wendy, Sleepy Hollow), Dina Meyer (Beverly Hills 90210, Johnny Mnemonic), Denise Richards (Valentine, Tammy and the T-Rex), Jake Busey (The Frighteners, From Dusk till Dawn:The Series), Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother, Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog), Patrick Muldoon (Stigmata, Spiders 3D), and Michael Ironside (Scanners, Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II).This movie was seriously misunderstood at the time of its release, and has now enjoyed a re-evaluation of the content, and just how much of a satire it is. This movie is a good time as an action flick, and is highly entertaining for those who watch it!Intro/Outro Music: "Phantom Fun" by Jonathan BoyleShow E-Mail: cultcinemacircle@gmail.comFollow Cult Cinema Circle on Instagram, Twitter, and Letterboxd Hosted on Acast. This time at Unfolding Maps - not a climber, not a cyclist, not a desert photographer, but: Hollywood's most famous and beloved villain! Danny Trejo was shot, stabbed, decapitated, blown up, hanged, flattened by an elevator and lost his life in some even less appetizing ways that I'd rather leave unmentioned here. He's been the record holder as the world's most killed actor for years now - and he's steadily extending his lead. Danny has starred in over 400 films: blockbusters like Machete, Desperado, Heat, From Dusk till dawn, Con Air and Spy Kids, as well as countless B-movies and series like Breaking Bad, Sons of Anarchy and Modern Family. He has the status of a legend in Hollywood. He owns a chain of taco restaurants, his own beer and coffee brands, cafes and donut stores. In L.A., where he was born and lives, he is so popular that there is even an official Danny Trejo Day here. But those successes aren't why we have invited him to Unfolding Maps. Occasionally, we take the liberty of broadening our show's range of topics a bit by not just talking to people who have gotten to know the world through special journeys and expeditions, but to people whose LIFE journey is a very special one. And that definitely applies to Danny Trejo. Because he does not only PLAY the bad guy over and over again, but he WAS that bad guy: He spent his early years on a criminal career full of crime and drug addiction, and he served time in all of California's prisons for years. Eventually, he battled his demons, and upon his release, earned unexpected fame in Hollywood as a bad-boy actor with a heart of gold. Meanwhile, he has worked for decades not only as an actor but also as a drug counselor. In Los Angeles, he is as well known for his work in addiction and rehabilitation as he is for his acting. In the neighborhood of his childhood and youth, which he once terrorized with armed robberies and sheer violence, murals of his face now adorn the facades of entire buildings because people are so proud that he is one of them. It is the ultimate journey from gangster to movie star, a story about a man who changes himself and his destiny. Danny, who is now 78 years old, talks about all of this openly in his autobiography "Trejo: My Life of Crime, Redemption, and Hollywood” – and in this episode of Unfolding Maps. Hosted on Acast. Mein Leben. Verbrechen, Erlösung und Hollywood“, im Verlag Heyne Hardcore von Penguin Random House. Hosted on Acast. EPISODE 500, that's right!! It's so hard to beleive that I've been doing Trek Talking for that long. What you must now be made aware of is, my favorite Star Trek movie is STAR TREK 5: THE FINAL FRONTIER, one of the reasons is the awesome Klingons. It brings me great honor to be joined by the lovely and talented Spice Williams-Crosby. Her most notable roles are the Klingon officer Vixis in Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, and the assassin Patrice in Buffy the Vampire Slayer story "What's My Line". Originally involved in music and dance, she switched to acting, focusing on action roles which often featured stuntwork, making use of her martial arts and athletic skills. Doing stunt work on "From Dusk till Dawn", "Spider-Man", and "Liar Liar". She took up personal fitness at the age of 26, including bodybuilding and nutrition. She is a PhD, third-degree blackbelt, a vegan, and has written a book and several articles on the subject.

Our Halloween Special continues with something completely different. To go with the edgy, grisly From Dusk till Dawn, we present you Ernest Scared Stupid. You can't expect much from anything with Stupid in the title, and this movie delivers exactly what you expect. Next week kicks off our leftover series, with a spooky carryover from Halloween. It's a special Cinemavino, as we're delivering a double feature for Halloween! For Part I, we screen the Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriquez collaboration, From Dusk till Dawn. It has an all-star cast, and scorching, violent, audacious screenplay. We have strong opinions. Support this podcast and visit our sponsor! Behold our most clickbait title for a podcast yet! Alex and Austin have decided to do some bonus episodes on topics we think would be interesting to talk about, just to veer from the recommendation format that we usually go with. But yes, we're ranking the filmography of Quentin Tarantino - the visionary writer and director who has taken elements from westerns, kung-fu, grindhouse, and blaxploitation films, and elevates them for mainstream audiences. The rules are as follows: 1.) Both of us will announce what we have at each number in the list - but we will discuss the film that Austin has in that particular spot. 2.) For the two films that Austin hasn't seen, Alex will talk about them by himself. 3.) Only the films that Tarantino has directed will appear here - so no True Romance or From Dusk to Dawn, nor any films Tarantino guest directed such as Sin City - also Kill Bill Vol I and II will be combined as one film. The films that are featured on this list are Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Kill Bill, Death Proof, Inglorious Basterds, Django Unchained, The Hateful Eight, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
