It's Tuesday, November 26th, A.D. 2024. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 125 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com.  I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Kevin Swanson Cuban Communists levying fines against churches A group of 63 Cuban Christian leaders, called the Alliance of Christians of Cuba is speaking out against the nation's persecution of churches.   The Communist government has levied at least $43,000 in fines against Christian churches in 69 separate cases thus far this year. That's equivalent to $1.4 million in the American economy, given the differences in median income for Cuba. The nation is facing its worst economic crisis in decades.   The Alliance of Christians of Cuba is calling the Cuban government “to protect fundamental human rights including the right to freedom of religion or belief.” Ukrainian official: “World War III has already begun” The authorization by the United Kingdom and the United States of the use of long-range missiles by the Ukrainian side in the Russian-Ukrainian war has led to heightened international tensions. Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Ukraine's ambassador to the UK who formerly served as the Commander-in-Chief of the armies, publicly stated that "World War III has already begun,” reports Breitbart.  He was referencing recently increased assistance on the Russian side with Iran, China, and North Korea technology and forces. Special Counsel Jack Smith drops all charges against Trump On Monday, Special counsel Jack Smith filed motions to drop all federal charges against President-elect Donald Trump regarding both his mishandling of classified documents and his effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election in the lead-up to the January 6th riot at the U.S Capitol, reports NBC News. Hours later, U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan  granted Smith's motion to dismiss the January 6-related indictment, formally bringing to an end the case that alleged Trump unlawfully conspired to overturn his 2020 loss to President Joe Biden. Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung called Smith's motions to dismiss a "major victory for the rule of law."  He added, "The American people and President Trump want an immediate end to the political weaponization of our justice system and we look forward to uniting our country." Trump picks homosexual for Treasury Secretary President-elect Donald Trump has appointed Scott Bessent, a homosexual and long-time supporter and business associate of leftist billionaire George Soros to the key position of Treasury Secretary, reports The Epoch Times. The appointment would mark the most powerful position ever held by a homosexual in the history of American governance. Pro-lifers object to Robert F. Kennedy, Jr to HHS In addition, pro-lifers and Christians are registering their concerns with the appointment of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. to the key position of Secretary of Health and Human Services. Elon Musk: Cut $300 million from Planned Parenthood In a Wall Street Journal column, Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy announced their plans to cut federal expenditures dramatically. They specifically mentioned cutting $300 million from Planned Parenthood and $535 million from Public Broadcasting Service.  Live Action, the pro-life group founded by Lila Rose, is spearheading a petition drive, urging key Trump cabinet members, like Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., to defund Planned Parenthood. The mushrooming national debt The U.S. federal debt is growing faster than the Gross Domestic Product which is the measure of a country's economic activity that reflects the monetary value of its goods and services. Still, the Debt to GDP ratio stands at 121%. That's up from 55% in 2001.   President Biden drove up the debt by $7 trillion over three years, an average of $2.3 trillion per year.  President Trump's budgets drove up the debt $8.5 trillion over four years, or $2.1 trillion per year. And the Obama administration jacked up the debt at a rate of $817 billion per year. Interest payments on the debt have topped 36% of total tax receipts. Pro-abortion groups spent 8x money as pro-life groups on referendums Pro-abortion forces spent eight times the money spent by pro-life efforts on the 2024 election referendums. Live Action News reports a total of $244 million spent by pro-abortion organizations on the ballot measures while the pro-lifers put in only $29 million.   Psalm 37:35-36 testifies, “I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a native green tree. Yet he passed away, and behold, he was no more; Indeed, I sought him, but he could not be found.” Bitcoin skyrocketed since Trump landslide Bitcoin, the first decentralized cryptocurrency, almost breached the $100,000-per-share threshold over the weekend, reports CBS News. The Trump landslide stimulated a rush on cryptocurrency. Bitcoin has increased by 33% in value since November 5th.  By contrast, gold slipped about 1% in value over the same time period, hovering around $2,700 an ounce.  International adoptions down, 100,000 U.S. kids available for adoption And finally, international adoptions to families in the United States have dropped off sharply — now only 1,300 per year, reports Zero Hedge. That's down from 12,700 in 2009. The United Nations Children's Fund reports 153,000,000 orphans in the world.   Most recent numbers indicate 368,000 U.S. children in foster care and over 100,000 available for adoption, while American families adopt around 100,000 children each year.  Close And that's The Worldview on this Tuesday, November 26th, in the year of our Lord 2024. Subscribe by Amazon Music or by iTunes or email to our unique Christian newscast at www.TheWorldview.com. On the version of Hot off the Wire posted Oct. 11 at 6:45 a.m. CT: Residents in Gaza are facing an imminent loss of electricity as fuel supplies run dangerously low in the sealed-off territory. Israeli airstrikes left entire neighborhoods demolished Wednesday, and hospitals in the Gaza Strip are struggling to treat the injured with dwindling medical supplies. The war has claimed more than 2,200 lives on both sides and is expected to escalate. The weekend attack that Hamas said was retribution for worsening conditions for Palestinians under Israeli occupation has inflamed Israel's determination to crush the group's hold in Gaza. Foreign governments are tallying their dead and missing as the latest Israel-Palestinian war stretches into its fifth day. MARRAKECH, Morocco — United States Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen says the war between Israel and Hamas militants poses “additional concerns” to the American economy, but she still expects inflation can be contained without causing a recession. BRUSSELS (AP) — Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has joined a meeting of more than 50 defense leaders from around the world to make a personal pitch for military aid. Political support in the U.S. for the war has been lagging and allies are under pressure to send weapons to bolster Israel in its war with Hamas. It is the first time Zelenskyy has attended the NATO meeting in Brussels person. His presence underscores growing concerns about cracks in what has been staunch international backing for Kyiv in its war against Russia's invasion, and worries that Ukrainian forces haven't made measurable progress in the counteroffensive as winter closes in. The new Mideast war has complicated matters and has created competition for weapons and funding. High school students' scores on the ACT college admissions test have dropped to their lowest in more than three decades, showing a lack of student preparedness for college-level coursework, according to the nonprofit organization that administers the test. Scores have been falling for six consecutive years, but the trend accelerated during the COVID-19 pandemic. Students in the class of 2023 whose scores were reported Wednesday were in their first year of high school when the virus reached the U.S. The average ACT composite score for U.S. students was 19.5 out of 36. Last year, the average score was 19.8. Dorothy Hoffner, a 104-year-old Chicago woman whose recent skydive could see her certified by Guinness World Records as the oldest person to ever jump from a plane, has died. Hoffner's close friend, Joe Conant, says she was found dead Monday morning by staff at the Brookdale Lake View senior living community. Conant says Hoffner had an amazing energy and “she just kept going.” On Oct. 1, Hoffner made a tandem skydive at Skydive Chicago in Ottawa, Illinois, that could land her a world record. Conant says he's working to ensure that Guinness World Records certifies Hoffner posthumously as the world's oldest skydiver. NEW YORK (AP) — A new indictment filed Tuesday charges U.S. Rep. George Santos with stealing the identities of donors to his campaign and then using their credit cards to ring up tens of thousands of dollars in unauthorized charges. Prosecutors say some of that stolen money ended up in his own bank account. The 23-count indictment replaces one filed earlier against the New York Republican charging him with embezzling money from his campaign and lying to Congress about his wealth, among other offenses. Santos told reporters at the U.S Capitol he had no comment on the superseding indictment. The Rangers advance to the ALCS, awaiting the winner of the Twins-Astros series, one of the Vikings' top receivers will be out for a while with an injury, and the much-anticipated debut of Blackhawks center Connor Bedard includes an assist and a victory. On the version of Hot off the Wire posted Oct. 10 at 4 p.m. CT: WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden is confirming that U.S. citizens are among the hostages captured by Hamas in this weekend's attack on Israel and he condemned the militant group for “sheer evil” for its shocking multipronged attack on Israel launched from the Gaza Strip. Hundreds of civilians have been killed, including at least 14 American citizens. Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris spoke by phone earlier Tuesday with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the situation on the ground. Biden outlined the actions he and other allies have taken to support Israel in the aftermath of the attack and expressed his horror about “sickening” reports of torture inflicted by militants on innocent civilians. The social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, says it is trying to take action on a flood of posts sharing graphic media, violent speech and hateful conduct about the latest war between Israel and Hamas. X says it's treating this crisis with its highest level of response. But outside watchdog groups and a European Union official say misinformation about the war abounds on the platform that billionaire Elon Musk bought last year. Musk himself has recommended unreliable accounts posting about the war. And his job cuts since taking over Twitter last year have left fewer people responsible for taking action on posts that violate the platform's policies. TORONTO (AP) — General Motors and the union representing Canadian auto workers have reached a tentative contract agreement, ending a strike that began just after midnight. About 4,300 striking workers at two GM factories and a parts warehouse will return to work Tuesday afternoon and will vote on the three-year deal later. Lana Payne, president of the Unifor union, said in a statement that, when faced with the strike, GM had no choice but to follow a pattern agreement reached earlier with Ford. GM said it reached the three-year agreement around 1 p.m. Tuesday after workers went on strike at the Ontario facilities. GM said the deal recognizes employee contributions with significant pay and benefit increases and additional job security. SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — The White House is condemning a violent crash at the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco that ended with police fatally shooting a man. The man created a chaotic scene Monday when he rammed a car into the consulate's lobby. A White House official said Tuesday that U.S. government officials have been in contact with Chinese foreign ministry officials in the aftermath of the crash. The official was not authorized to comment and spoke on the condition of anonymity. San Francisco police had not released the driver's identity or a possible motive as of Tuesday morning. LOS ANGELES (AP) — Former baseball MVP Steve Garvey is joining the race to succeed the late California Sen. Dianne Feinstein. The Republican Garvey gives his party a splash of star quality on the ballot in a heavily Democratic state where the GOP hasn't won a U.S. Senate race in 35 years. Garvey signaled in a video that he would lean toward the political center, saying: "I never played for Democrats or Republicans or independents. I played for all of you.” As a Republican, he starts as a longshot. Democrats hold every statewide office. Leading candidates include Democratic U.S. Reps. Barbara Lee, Katie Porter and Adam Schiff. NEW YORK (AP) — Evidence shown at former President Donald Trump's New York civil business fraud trial shows that he signed a 1994 document that gave the true size of the New York penthouse that was listed later as far larger on his financial statements. The evidence appeared in an email attachment shown during testimony Tuesday from Allen Weisselberg, the former finance chief of Trump's company. James' lawsuit alleges that Weisselberg engineered Trump's financial statements to meet his demands that they show increases in his net worth and signed off on lofty valuations for assets despite appraisals to the contrary. Trump denies any wrongdoing. DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — The Powerball jackpot has climbed to an estimated $1.73 billion after no one matched the game's six numbers and won the giant prize. The winning numbers announced Monday night are: 16, 34, 46, 55, 67 and the Powerball 14. There has been no winner for 35 consecutive drawings. The scarcity of Powerball jackpot winners reflects the game's long odds of 1 in 292.2 million. The $1.73 billion prize is for a sole winner who is paid through an annuity, with annual checks over 30 years. Most jackpot winners opt for cash, which for the next drawing Wednesday night would be an estimated $756.6 million. MOSCOW (AP) — Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, who has been detained in Russia on espionage charges, has lost an appeal to be released from jail, meaning he will stay behind bars at least until Nov. 30. Gershkovich was arrested in the city of Yekaterinburg while on a reporting trip in late March. The 31-year-old U.S. citizen and his employer deny the allegations, and the U.S. government declared him to be wrongfully detained. Russian authorities have not provided any evidence to support the espionage charges. Gershkovich is the first American reporter to face espionage charges in Russia since 1986, when Nicholas Daniloff, a Moscow correspondent for U.S. News and World Report, was arrested by the KGB. [This blog will always be free to read, but it's also how I pay my bills. So, if you like what you read, please consider a paid subscription.]Last night, two substations in Moore County, NC were fired upon with weapons simultaneously, allegedly to cut power to a local theater hosting a drag show. I say “allegedly” because it hasn't yet been confirmed by authorities, but it sure would take a hell of a string of coincidences to arrive at any other conclusion.I'll get to that in a second, but let's talk about how folks in this county are being affected by this cowardly act.As of this afternoon, nearly 45,000 residents of Moore County are without power. There are reports of very heavy traffic as thousands attempt to temporarily relocate to areas outside the county, which has a higher-than-average proportion of retirees. One resident sent me video of a long traffic jam, with this note: "People trying to leave Moore County. US1 at tramway. Traffic is at a standstill everywhere leaving MoCo."One resident claimed: "I am in southern pines; one thing I haven't seen people talk about is the cell service is also down. Verizon especially. Anyone on their network is having trouble making calls/texts/internet etc. AT&T network seems to be working fine. No communication is HUGE."This is all important to note because of those residents who rely on life-sustaining medical equipment and just had their power go out in a county with a higher-than-average proportion of retirees and elderly residents. This attack has immediately put lives in danger, and despite efforts by local authorities to set up an emergency shelter at the Moore County Sports Complex and what I imagine is a tireless operation by EMS personnel to provide care, it is not out of the question that we could see deaths that result from this power outage.Local resident Andrew Wilkins wrote a thread of impacts the power outage has had on the community, which you can read here. At an emergency press conference a few hours ago, a representative from Duke Energy, the local power company, said that during the initial investigation, it was determined there was intentional damage on the substations, and the Sheriff's Office confirmed firearms had been used to disable them. He said equipment will need to be replaced, "a pretty sophisticated repair with large equipment." Repairs, he said, could take until Thursday.Moore County schools have announced they will be closed tomorrow, and at the press conference, the Superintendent said those closures could last through Thursday.Clearly, this is a dangerous and deeply disruptive situation for every resident of Moore County.Let's discuss possible motive.Emily Rainey is a former active duty Army officer who resigned her commission after the Army launched an investigation into her participation in the Jan. 6th attack on the U.S Capitol. Last night, shortly after the power outage began, she posted on Facebook:"The power is out in Moore County, and I know why."In a follow-up post, Rainey tagged Sunrise Theater, where the drag show was being held, and wrote “God will not be mocked” above what appears to be a photo of the building last night during the power outage.Rainey has not been tied by authorities to the attack on the substations, and during the press conference, when asked by a reporter why the Sheriff's Office had turned up at her home last night, presumably to investigate her claim of knowledge regarding the attack, Sheriff Rob Fields responded: “We had to go interview this young lady and have a word of prayer with her. But it turned out to be false.”When a reporter asked how this had been verified, the Sheriff simply responded with only three words and nothing further:“Good law enforcement.”That's it. There were no follow-up questions from reporters about what she may know. There were no questions about the specific content of her posts. There were no questions about the oddly thrown-in religious remark, which I suppose can be explained as a reference to her own summary of the event in a follow-up post on her Facebook profile after their visit:And there were no questions about her leadership of a Facebook group called Moore County Citizens for Freedom, which describes itself as “a non partisan network of Moore County Citizens dedicated to the promotion of conservative values in Moore County, NC through education and activism.”Two weeks ago, Moore County Citizens for Freedom posted the contact information, including emails and numbers, for local sponsors of the scheduled drag show last night with this simple caption: “You know what to do.”Meanwhile, within hours after the outage began, while Rainey was posting references to it and claimed knowledge of why it happened, Sarah Fields, the Director of Advocacy for the Texas Freedom Coalition, which is exactly what it sounds like, posted a tweet appearing to endorse the firearms attack on the substations, then edited the tweet to remove an approving hashtag: #ImOkWithIt. You'll notice, of course, that she left the hashtag #ProtectChildren, implying children were there.I want to point out a few things:The organizers of the drag show specifically stated on event fliers that children would not be permitted at the event and all attendees would be required to show ID to satisfy the 18+ restriction.I do not point this out to enable the terrible propaganda that drag shows are inherently harmful to children (though there are some shows that are adults-only) but to emphasize that the organizers went out of their way to alleviate any concerns, however unfounded and harmful, expressed by those who irrationally and hatefully oppose drag shows for that claimed reason. This follows an all-year-long concentrated effort by anti-LGBTQ propagandists to claim drag shows are intended as a tool of indoctrination and evidence that LGBTQ people are inherently pedophiles. Two weeks ago, there was a mass shooting at a queer bar in Colorado Springs, in which five people were murdered and 25 injured. Despite the suspect's long history of anti-LGBTQ rhetoric and past violence, his lawyers suddenly claimed he's nonbinary in what many assume is an effort to troll the LGBTQ community (by mocking self-identification) after murdering five queer people.Yesterday, in Columbus, armed protestors showed up outside of a drag show, forcing organizers to close it down out of concern for everyone's safety:I want to be very clear: we are witnessing a coordinated campaign of violence and intimidation against LGBTQ people, and if it is substantiated that anti-LGBTQ assailants attempted to cut power for 40,000 people in order to have a drag show cancelled--and I suspect it will be--that is the definition of terrorism, and we can expect more acts of violence will be perpetrated against LGBTQ people. This is all quite terrifying, and so, I want to end this on a note of recognition and pride in those who attended last night's drag show in Moore County. When the power went out and attendees suspected it was due to sabotage by anti-LGBTQ extremists, instead of leaving the venue out of fear for their safety, they collectively turned on their phone lights to illuminate the stage, so the show could go on. You can watch a video of it below.Naomi Dix, the hostess of the event, gave a moving impromptu speech reminding attendees that they are loved and should feel pride in their community.I didn't see these videos until later this afternoon, and like many who viewed them, I couldn't stop myself from crying. I wish those who so blatantly express hatred and threats of violence against LGBTQ people in our country could find the comfort in their own skin that we have in ours, the sense of pride in their insular community that we have in our open community, and the expression of love we have toward anyone that they seem to deny to everyone who falls short of their extremist hatred.I, of course, will only speak for myself when I say this, as one queer person, but I will say it with a full heart because it's important: I was lovingly made by God, as I believe to be true for every human being, and I am guided by the instruction of Jesus Christ, emphasizing God's words in Corinthians, repeated every Sunday in the church that I call home: that our greatest commandment is love.I wish those who are behind these acts of hatred would have the courage to follow Christ's instruction, too.Charlotte's Web Thoughts is a reader-supported publication. The Oath Keepers have been accused of having a large role in the Capitol riots, and are one of the far right extremist groups Mogelson has followed. A recent report by the Anti-Defamation League shows 476 state residents are part of the Oath Keepers membership database, reports Hearst CT. What does their influence look like today, a year and a half after the riots? How influential will these groups become after the midterm elections? On January 6 2021 a pro-Trump mob stormed the U.S Capitol seeking to overturn the 2020 presidential election result. Rioters overran police and broke through windows chanting ‘stop the steal' while threatening Vice President Mike Pence with violence. The moment sent shockwaves through America as people tried to understand how this could be happening in the world's most powerful democracy. There is now growing pressure on the Department of Justice to prosecute Trump for his role in the incident after a set of public hearings revealed damning evidence of his actions. But others argue that while Trump's conduct after the November 2020 election was reprehensible, not every wrongdoing, even a highly consequential one, is a crime. Who's right and who's wrong? To find out, we invited David Blight, Sterling Professor of American History at Yale University, and Rich Lowry, Editor-in-chief of National Review, to debate the issue. Trevor Mallard asked for the sprinklers to stay on all night. The protestors are still there on the lawns of parliament. The convoy of angry and presumably damp people, with their tents and their muddled messages.I walked by the fringes of the protest yesterday. One of the men recognised me as a journo and started screaming at me in the street. He looked desperate..“There weren't many arrests here!” He said.“You know the truth!”I pitied him. It's true the protest only constitutes a tiny minority of New Zealanders, but only a fool wouldn't take some of those messages seriously. Politicians and media have been threatened with lynchings. ONE News reporter Kristin Hall was told she would be executed by a woman holding a sign saying ‘Love is the answer.' All it takes is one crazy person.Should the Police just arrest them all? It's important to have consistency in Policing. It was a different stage of the pandemic and a different message, but Police didn't rush in and arrest everyone at the Black Lives Matter protests. They didn't arrest everyone who came to see Brian Tamaki in the domain. You can't support the right to peaceful protest but only when the protestors are on your side. That being said, this is different. The moment there are death threats, it isn't a peaceful protest. We all now how quickly a mob of disillusioned people can whip themselves into something more serious. Speaking to politicians in the Beehive yesterday, the riot at the U.S Capitol is very much front of mind. Above all, Police have to show they have the capacity and strength to defend parliament itself. This is probably the biggest test of New Zealand's democracy since the beginning of the pandemic. Bigger than legality of public health measures and the border, the challenges over MIQ. Regardless of how it ends, the protestors will consider themselves martyrs. If they've lost their jobs through mandates, I suppose it's not like they have anywhere better to be. This could go for weeks. But for what it's worth, I don't think Police should crack skulls to force them out. Contain them, yes. Arrest anyone who openly threatens someone or rushes the parliament buildings? Sure. But for now, we need to stay with the non-violent options. If the sprinklers didn't work, maybe Trevor Mallard should bring in some speakers, and put the Crazy Frog song on repeat. Then, let's cross our fingers for a good Southerly.LISTEN ABOVE

Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind! For two decades our leadership in America has sown discord and divisiveness. The leadership of the Republican Party have often pushed conspiracy theories out to its true believers, the Democratic Party, in turn, has made outlandish accusations a hallmark of its leadership. All the while the national media has devolved not into purveyors of fact, but of cheerleading organizations , that pick sides, and give the political parties outlets to preach their outlandish nonsense to the unsuspecting masses. As Ted Koppel said in his interview with PBS, " The Washington Post of today, and the New York Times of today is not the New York Times of 50 years ago, nor the Washington Post of 50 years ago." The same could be said for all the television networks and the cable networks. They have all blurred the lines between news content and editorials. What is even worse is they have done it at the exact moment that the rise of social media has made any person with a lap top computer or cellphone an untrained, and often unreliable journalist. You don't know what you are listening to or whether what you are reading has any validity at all. That has allowed every crazy story to get legs and travel. That, all together, has fed an atmosphere of division, demonization, and no trust in our traditional institutions, not even a shared sense of what is really reality,  and  that boiled over on January 6, 2021 at the U.S Capitol. This episode takes you from the retirement of the last World War 2 national figure, Bob Dole, to the circus of the Brett Kavanaugh Hearings and President Donald Trump's war with "Fake News".  And to the doorstep of  what it brought us, the meltdown at the U.S. Capitol January , 06, 2021.

Today on The Leaders' Brief - Before Congress met on Wednesday, January 6th, to formally certify the electoral victory of Democrat candidate Joseph Biden in last year's November 3rd Presidential elections, thousands of Trump supporters stormed the U.S Capitol building , with the belief that Donald Trump was cheated into losing his presidency. The incident was a portrayal of a sentiment thar Mr Biden will undoubtedly face as a major challenge in the early months of his presidency.  Chinese billionaire and entrepreneur Jack Ma's going incommunicado with the world has stirred several speculations and controversies about the possibility of Beijing having a role in his disappearance. Speculations about the Chinese government being involved with Mr. Ma's disappearance increased earlier this year after the Communist Party's mouthpiece People's Daily published a report stating the Alibaba founder is embracing supervision at an undisclosed location.  Britain's tax authority has slapped a record $32.4 million fine on UK based money-transfer company MT Global Ltd for significant breaches of anti-money laundering regulations last Thursday. MT Global, based out of Lutan, offers financial services across 97 countries. According to the HMR, the firm breached several regulations between July 2017 and December 2019.  About egomonk: Website | Facebook | Twitter | LinkedInegomonk is a global intelligence platform delivering asymmetric outcomes by bringing organizations closer to the communities they want to serve and the leaders they wish to influence.
