This conversation explores the impact of the menstrual cycle on training and climbing performance. The menstrual cycle consists of different phases, including the follicular and luteal phases, each characterized by hormonal changes. During the follicular phase, when estrogen levels are higher, climbers may benefit from intense strength training and challenging climbs. In contrast, the luteal phase, with higher progesterone levels, may be a time for focusing on mobility, technique, and lower-intensity exercises. Understanding these phases can help climbers tailor their training programs and be more forgiving of their performance fluctuations. Coaches and partners can also consider these factors when working with female climbers. Takeaways The menstrual cycle consists of different phases, including the follicular and luteal phases, characterized by hormonal changes. During the follicular phase, climbers may benefit from intense strength training and challenging climbs. The luteal phase may be a time for focusing on mobility, technique, and lower-intensity exercises. In this episode, we explore how hormonal changes during the luteal phase can lead to feelings of wanting to quit everything—jobs, relationships, and even hobbies. The rise in progesterone after ovulation often causes fatigue, increased stress sensitivity, and a critical mindset, making everything seem overwhelming. These hormonal shifts can trick us into believing our lives are off track, when really our bodies are just asking for rest. By understanding these patterns, we can learn to give ourselves grace during this time, delay major decisions, and find comfort in knowing these feelings are temporary.

Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks…   Morgan: Hi Dr Cabral! I'm wondering if there's anything we can do to strengthen or improve teeth enamel. I've noticed in the last few years that my teeth seem to be less thick/ more opaque. Is this a mineral issue? Thank you!     Marianne: Hello doctor Cabral, I'm tracking my cycle with an Oura ring and I experience a significant decrease in heart rate variability (HRV) accompanied by a notable rise in heart rate during my luteal phase. Is this a normal pattern? And if not, could you maybe let me know what could cause this? I'm a 46 year old female, very active, with a healthy weight and normal periods (27-30 days). Thanks so much for your answer. Best, Marianne     Lara: Hi, dr. C! Hope you, your family & Bacci are well.. I've listened to you explain what's in Metavolve and how it works, so my question is, would you recommend it also for people with estrogen dominance, high stress levels, unregulated sleep & poor metabolism (also fibromyalgia) but their main goal is not weight loss? Thank you, you're the best! Happy healing, everyone!     Maria: What does the research say about erythritol? Is it good or bad for you?     Rita: Dear Dr. Cabral Thank you so much for doing what you do with such passion and commitment!I've been struggling with pain for 3 years, and up till now, I thought I had a tooth problem, but after not finding anything after dental x rays, examinations, I had an MRT scan ( magnetic resonance tomography ) in May. In the last3years, at irregular intervals, sometime twice a month, sometimes only once in every3months, I had massive pain on the left side in my upper jaw area,in the gums+in 1 tooth+severe headache-only once it happened on the right side but the same pain:upper jaw, gums,1tooth,severe headache. MRT scan showed my right side maxillary sinus is full of phlegm/mucus? I would love to get some advice on how to remove the phlegm / mucus from there?Thank you so much in advance, best wishes,   Thank you for tuning into this weekend's Cabral HouseCalls and be sure to check back tomorrow for our Mindset & Motivation Monday show to get your week started off right! - - - Show Notes and Resources: StephenCabral.com/3131 - - - Get a FREE Copy of Dr. Cabral's Book: The Rain Barrel Effect - - - Join the Community & Get Your Questions Answered: CabralSupportGroup.com - - - Dr. Cabral's Most Popular At-Home Lab Tests: > Complete Minerals & Metals Test (Test for mineral imbalances & heavy metal toxicity) - - - > Complete Candida, Metabolic & Vitamins Test (Test for 75 biomarkers including yeast & bacterial gut overgrowth, as well as vitamin levels) - - - > Complete Stress, Mood & Metabolism Test (Discover your complete thyroid, adrenal, hormone, vitamin D & insulin levels) - - - > Complete Food Sensitivity Test (Find out your hidden food sensitivities) - - - > Complete Omega-3 & Inflammation Test (Discover your levels of inflammation related to your omega-6 to omega-3 levels) - - - Get Your Question Answered On An Upcoming HouseCall: StephenCabral.com/askcabral - - - Would You Take 30 Seconds To Rate & Review The Cabral Concept? We are big fans of NaProTechnology at Woven Well, because this unique approach investigates the root causes of reproductive health concerns like PCOS, PMS, Luteal Phase defect, and endometriosis. For many women, this restorative approach is all they need to finally get some answers and individualized care. But there are some who still have a "missing piece." This was how Dr. Melissa Weidert felt as she served a NaProTechnology OBGYN and surgeon. She loved NaPro, but knew she needed a complementary education to provide to some of her patients who still struggled. Now, she's opened her integrative health clinic and provides holistic reproductive care and fertility treatments to men and women. Utilizing hormonal panels, HTMA, bio resonance testing, mold and parasite investigation, and more, she seeks the root causes of reproductive health concerns and addresses them at their core. She joins us today to talk about this approach and how it serves men and women with reproductive health issues. NOTE: This episode is appropriate for all audiences. GUEST BIO: Dr. Melissa Weidert officially launched her virtual medical practice, Fiat Fertility & Wellness, in the Fall of 2023 after many years in restorative reproductive medicine. She has a strong passion for NaProTECHNOLOGY and trained as a NaPro surgeon. Combining this knowledge with functional medicine and holistic health practices allows her to walk alongside women, men, and couples on their unique health journeys. She lives with her husband and son and is a proud Wisconsinite who enjoys the outdoors, strong coffee, and quality conversations. You can find her soaking in the sun rays, working the soil into a new garden, and taking time to be present with those she loves.      If you enjoyed this episode, be sure to give us a 5 star review! Episode 73 marks the beginning of a four week segment on stewardship. Jennifer and Emelie start with the most basic stewardship, our hormones, specifically progesterone!*  Progesterone is the hormone that prepares your body for pregnancy at the end of your cycle. When you have enough of it, you should feel calm and nurtured in the days running up to your cycle. But stress, crowded schedules, busy school loads, and trying to do everything can derail our progesterone production.  Why does this matter? When we don't steward our hormones properly across our cycle, we start using cortisol and adrenals to function. This causes long term stress on our body, reducing our capacity to handle bigger life stressors that come our way because we have used everything up trying to over perform during the progesterone (Luteal Phase) of our cycle.  Addressing this is about learning micro stewardship of our emotions and progesterone across the cycle. Micro emotional stewardship is learning to connect with God in the middle of a emotion and ask:  1. Is this feeling true or is it an emotion that's coming up and related to some old pain or lie about the goodness of God, the love of my husband, or God's sufficiency? (Memorise Psalm 23) 2. Is this feeling something physical–hormonal, exhaustion, poor diet choice, stress? 3. Is my reaction to this feeling going to bring connection or disconnection?  Progesterone stewardship is learning to identify the foods and care your body needs in the last 10 days of your cycle.  *None of this is medical advice, nor is it intended to be.  Episode sponsored by the Peaceful Press! Another episode full of lukewarm takes, cyclical insights, and "that's so funny" reactions, this week Jess and Caroline show up with nothing to give but complaints and bad jokes. First, Jess is no impressionist - and also apparently no standup - as she *corporate gulps* her way through a series of failed jokes that forced her to quit her comedy class. Meanwhile, Caroline be lutin' (scientific term for in the luteal phase of her menstrual cycle), leaving little room for laughter but a lot of room for spiraling about therapy. This deadly combo concludes with the reveal of an upcoming surprise, an analysis of gifts as a love language, and a referral to a new form of therapy that both of our hosts desperately need. __ This episode was produced by your lover, Jess DeBakey. __ Share with a friend!
