It turns out people really do win giveaways. In February, Tim Harrington took delivery of the first Cybertruck to be raffled off by Tesla. He later showed how the Cybertruck fits in his garage "like a glove." 2024 continues to be the year of the Cybertruck, and well, Tesla has done it again. After holding a second Tesla referral raffle, the company has delivered a second free Cybertruck to one extremely fortunate winner: Jacob Knight. An unbelievable, timely message A few weeks ago, my neighbor and best friend since grade school called me around 9 p.m. with some unbelievable news. He told me he thought he might have won a free Cybertruck. I literally didn't believe him. Well, I believed that he thought he might have won a free Cybertruck, but I really wanted to debunk whatever phishing expedition was being conducted before it got too far. Neither we nor ChatGPT could debunk the raffle winner email using the email headers and raw message. A call from Tesla the following day confirmed the message and set things in motion. Prior to the call, our families had spent the previous day and a half together. The startup Jacob worked for was downsizing, his father-in-law Brian spent several days hospitalized after a stroke, and the start of summer was just generally turbulent. My best friend was understandably in a funk, and I wanted to do my part in helping, so we dragged him out to the beach. The next day, I helped him clean his office while he interviewed for new job opportunities. It felt like a day and a half well spent! Neither of us had any clue about what was processing in the background.Sure, Tesla absolutely stole my thunder that day. Still, it was a very real lesson in how a tide change may already be developing when you feel like you're underwater. Also, enter more raffles! Tesla Cybertruck raffle winner Fast-forward one week and change later, and our families are on a six-hour round trip from Biloxi to the Tesla delivery facility in Brandon, Mississippi. The email was real. The call was real. And Jacob's Cybertruck was waiting in the Tesla parking lot with his name hanging from the mirror. Prior to owning the Cybertruck, Jacob's family owned two Teslas: a Model 3 Performance and a Model X Plaid. I drove Jacob's Model 3 Performance up for the photo op; I bought it a week later! Brian, having recovered from his stroke, rode as a passenger in the Model X on the way up. He was responsible for driving the Model X on the way back. This happened to be his first experience ever behind the wheel of an EV. Jacob bravely packed his newly received Tesla Cybertruck with one of his two kids and my two kids for the ride back. It was a hot-as-summer spring day in Mississippi, but it was a helluva day to remember. Jacob's Mawmaw Katie was also part of the day one experience. What a memory! Personally, I can say I've logged roughly two hours behind the wheel of the Cybertruck. It's GOOD. Meanwhile, Jacob and his Foundation Edition Cyberbeast (yes, tri-motor!) have been the talk of the town. Seriously, people haven't stopped posing for pictures and sharing sightings on our town's Facebook group. Jacob has also allowed his Cybertruck to join the dark side with a deep black matte wrap. But enough storytelling from me. You can hear Jacob's story of being the Tesla Cybertruck raffle winner in his own words in a podcast interview recorded this week below: https://twitter.com/jacobisknight/status/1799145466879267098?s=61&t=Um0m_kl9v8_MM9QONXv-QA The mission continues. We had the pleasure of interviewing Tall Heights over Zoom video! Tall Heights launched a new song of yearning, "Hear It Again," out now everywhere you get music. "Hear It Again" is about the blurry lines between home and touring. we started it on tour with Ben Folds and finished and recorded it deep within pandemic isolation. accordingly, it is impregnated with this tension between 2 lost sanctuaries : home at home and home on the road.Tall Heights have relentlessly built a career from the ground up. Starting as buskers on the streets of Boston and now performing in packed venues across North America, Europe, and beyond, the duo has distilled their sound in an organic and unselfconscious way. The unmistakable DNA of their music draws on many elements, but the blend of their two distinct voices, in both harmony and unison, is what elevates it and separates it from the pack.Hailing from the Boston area, Paul Wright and Tim Harrington met each other in their hometown of Sturbridge through Tim's older brother. The friendship blossomed in high school when they both took up the guitar and began working on music together. It didn't take long for them to see the potential hidden in these casual jam sessions. As Paul recalls, “Tim transformed from kid brother to musical collaborator over the course of a summer.”Combining Paul's lifetime of classical training, Harrington's spontaneous artistic instincts, and the prismatic union of their unique voices, Tall Heights' sonic imprint is in a category all its own.Tall Heights' recordings have amassed over 275 million streams. They regularly serve as Ben Folds' backing band, and have toured alongside CAKE, Judah & the Lion, Colony House, and The Paper Kites. They've also performed on both Conan in 2016 and CBS Saturday Morning in 2018. We want to hear from you! We think what makes our conversations interesting is the face-to-face we always have and actually required at one point. We used to say no to virtual conversations. But we aren’t idiots, as far as you know, and we are still chatting with our guests virtually because of the evil COVID, and while we are not fans, we still at least get to talk with great musicians who turn out to be great people as well. Two fellas who fall into those two descriptions are Paul Wright and Tim Harrington from the band Tall Heights.Like many, Paul and Tim, or Tim and Paul, depending on who you ask, began their musical journey by busking on the streets of Boston. They soon left the harsh Quincy Market streets for the road, which they now ride in luxury on The Spirit of Beverly, which you will hear about shortly. These guys from Sturbridge – not to be confused with Stockbridge - are road warriors and luckily, they were able to almost finish a tour before COVID hit. I talked with them about what they’ve been doing lately including their Tall Heights Backyard Tour, their fan sing-along, and a lot of other things. We don’t want to ruin the surprise.
In this episode, we talk to Dr. Tim Harrington about his experiences as a White professor in a primarily Black institution. He discusses the importance of building relationships and knowing one's students.
Singer/guitarist Tim Harrington and singer/cellist Paul Wright of Tall Heights join Chris Rhoad and BoatCast Mark to discuss their first voyage on Rock Boat XX. They quickly learned that much like the pool on the Lido Deck (or rather, Pool Deck), “There is no deep end, so just jump in…”. They reveal friendships made with fellow artists, including Sammy Rae, and their admiration for the music loving Rock Boaters who have been supporting them on the road. They reveal the secret to soft serve on the boat (credit goes to fellow band member, HP). They share the most hilarious version yet of The Post-Rock Boat Blues.Tall Heights can be found at:Website: https://www.tallheights.com/Twitter: @tallheightsYoutube: www.youtube.com/TallHeightsMusicFacebook: @tallh

In episode four of Afterglow, we sit down with Emily Harrington, one of the most accomplished all around rock and mountain climbers of the last 25 years. Our conversation provides a revealing glimpse into the heart and mind of one of the most badass women alive. Not only has Emily climbed some of the hardest 5.14a sport climbs in the world, she’s one of only a few athletes to have free climbed Golden Gate, a 5.13b route on Yosemite’s iconic El Capitan. She has also summited Mt. Everest, been a five-time US National Sport Climbing Champion and been victorious at the Ouray Ice Climbing Festival. Her accomplishments don’t stop there though …. in recent years she has skied off the summit of Cho Oyu (the 6th tallest peak in the world) while achieving a speed record on the coveted and challenging Himalayan peak. She’s an extremely diverse and accomplished mountain athlete who is constantly reinventing her career and challenging herself in new and exciting ways. In our open and honest chat, Emily gives the audience personal insights into her driven, committed and compassionate soul. We talk at length about how her mother’s Parkinson diagnosis has affected her, how she attempts to transparently document her life on social media (regardless of how it looks), how she processes failure in her athletic life and translates it to her daily routine and how she derives happiness and fulfillment from suffering. This post is being brought to you from the great city of Indianapolis, where Producer Andrea lives. For those who are unfamiliar, the Indy 500 is a race where odd looking vehicles with really big tires whip around a circular track at alarming speeds— often more than 200 mph. The aim is to be the first driver to complete 500 laps around the circle. There's money, prestige, and fame at stake so, of course, all of the drivers are desperate to win. It's pretty exciting stuff. But for many people, (Producer Andrea included), the most interesting thing about the race isn't the race itself. It's the pit stops. Isn't it amazing that in a race where the goal is to drive, drive, drive as fast as you can, and be the first and the best, THE CARS HAVE TO STOP SOMETIMES? Can you imagine being an Indy Car driver, full of adrenaline and dopamine, with the words “Go, Go, Go!” crying out from the depths of your soul, having to make a conscious decision, often 2 or 3 times during the race, to stop? Can you imagine trying to convince yourself that stopping, even for only 8 seconds, would not put you at a serious disadvantage in a race where milliseconds matter? Can you imagine the temptation they must feel to just ignore the advice of their race team and just keep going? (Do you see where we're going with this analogy-wise?) How do you feel when you read the following words? SELF CARE. Does it sound like something a woman made up--possibly Oprah? Does it sound like something only women are allowed to do? Does it sound like something that might be nice for other people, but just isn't a luxury you can afford right now as you're trying to get that promotion, or get that person to marry you, or get your kids into that great school, etc, etc, etc? Imagine you're an Indy Car driver. Imagine hearing your crew manager say through your radio, “Hey, man. You need to stop for new tires and some fuel and an adjustment of your flex capacitor.” (or whatever.) Imagine saying to him, “Yeah, that would be nice, I guess, but I just can't stop right now… I'm in third place! Only a few laps to go! I can totally push through.” Imagine what happens next. (Hint: A tire falls off as you're speeding along, you spin out of control, hit a few other cars that trying to speed past you, cause them to spin out of control and hit other cars, crash, bang, fires, disaster.) Self care isn't bubble baths, pints of ice cream and Netflix binges; it's a stop for needed maintenance. It's a prevention of wear and tear on your vehicle. It keeps you in the race. In this episode, Tim Harrington stops by to talk to Dan, not about the Indy 500, but about scheduled maintenance for your soul. (a.k.a. Self Care.) He offers up a number of great suggestions for how to do self care in a way that leads to lasting growth and change. Check it out, and stay tuned for future updates from Tim as he takes his family on the road…
Sustainable Recovery™, Inc., believes in supporting the whole family: mind, body, spirit. We realize emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual well being are intertwined. We believe, while it’s important for a loved one to realize that they have an illness, they are more than that illness. We can help someone figure out on their own who they really are. Instead of saying 'You're an addict', ‘You’re bipolar’ or ‘You’re schizophrenic,’ we can help someone feel comfortable and say, ‘I’m a person, not my diagnosis.’” The point is to move forward in life.Adopting an addict identity can be especially problematic for young people whose identities are not yet fully formed. Doing so may make what may well be a transient problem into a long-term one, by teaching them that addiction is inevitably chronic and relapsing. Since no one can predict which youth will “mature out” of addiction and which will not, teens should never be forced to attend 12-step groups—nor should they be made to label themselves as addicts. We also believe that working in tandem with compassionate, clinical, professionals is crucial. Each family is unique and is treated that way. We don’t see our clients as a diagnosis or a billing number. "The words most frequently used to describe what we do includes the following: identify, engage, encourage, motivate, share, express, enhance, orient, help, link, consult, monitor, transport, praise, enlist, support, organize, and advocate" - Timothy Harrington, Chief Empowerment Officer, Sustainable Recovery™, Inc.www.sustainablerecovery.net

Tall Heights is a contemporary American folk music duo based in Boston, Massachusetts, and made up of guitarist/singer Tim Harrington and cellist/singer Paul Wright. Though they had been writing and performing music together in other incarnations ever since high school, Wright and Harrington did not make the conscious decision to form the duo known as Tall Heights until the summer of 2010, when they began testing out material as buskers (street musicians) in Boston’s Faneuil Hall Marketplace. According to a recent interview with About.com Folk Music, the pair have known each other since they were children, when Harrington was just the younger brother of Wright’s good friend. No doubt, like many little brothers, he tagged along and was not taken seriously by his older friend until they entered high school and started discovering they had just as much in common. At that point, the two began singing together and casually participating in various musical projects. It wasn’t until the summer of 2010, however, that they discovered they had happened upon a sound and feel which set them apart from ...

During my conversation with Les Savy Fav frontman Tim Harrington, I realized that he is a paradox wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a beard. He simultaneously embodies what might be seen as a folk art mentality (both in his musical performances and his other work), even though he was trained at RISD. Oh yeah, and he's also not into "freaky creepy funky fusion." Sorry, Mike Patton.

Investigator Urges Clearing of Marine in Killings at Haditha Home, "An investigating officer in the case against a U.S. Marine accused of murdering civilians in Haditha, Iraq, has recommended that charges against him be dropped, concluding that the government’s allegations that the Marine executed a group of men are “unsupported and incredible.”" We really appreciated the opportunity to speak with Darryl Sharratt, father of exonerated Haditha Marine Lance Cpl. Justin Sharratt tonight on Pundit Review Radio. We took an in-depth look at the three most important areas of this story, 1.) The impact on the families Darryl talked about how strong his son Justin has been throughout this ordeal, what its been like for the family and where the case stands today. He reminded us that there are other Marines still waiting for justice. 2.) The role of John Murtha In the second segment, Gary Gross of Let Freedom Ring blog and California Conservative joined the discussion to tell us about his interesting phone call with Murtha’s office, and the timeline that exposes his true intentions. Incredibly, Darryl tells us that his congressman is none other than John Murtha. 3.) The Haditha investigation and prosecution In the final segment, Tim Harrington, an investigator for the families of the Marines involved in the Haditha case, joined the discussion to tell us how about the failings of the UCMJ and why we should all be worried. Darryl Sharratt wraps up the hour with a message to the American people that you don’t want to miss. What is Pundit Review Radio? Pundit Review Radio is where the old media meets the new.
