Jimbo, Sasha Goryunov and Duncan Alexander gather to summarise Day 9 of the World Cup.We had two contenders for game of the tournament on the same day!Cameroon took the lead against Serbia but the Serbs scored three in succession to lead 3-1 only for Cameroon to drag it back to 3-3.The result probably means both sides are out but Vincent Aboubakar did score a lovely lob.Ghana looked like they were sailing to victory with a 2-0 lead over South Korea heading into half time. Then two goals in three second half minutes saw South Korea level before Mohammed Kudus scored his second, Ghana's third, and secure what could be a massive three points in Group H.Massive because Portugal's win over Uruguay sees the Portuguese qualify and leaves Ghana in pole position to follow them through.Plus we look ahead to the biggest game at the tournament tomorrow… Iran vs USA.Bassil Mikdadi gives us the Iranian perspective on their winner takes all game. And The Athletic's Sam Stejskal gives us the perspective from the American side.Produced by Charlie Jones & Steve Hankey Hosted on Acast. Andre Onana, who plays for Italian club Inter Milan, wasn't in Cameroon's lineup or even at the stadium to watch the Group G match. Coach Rigobert Song said he dropped his starting goalkeeper for “disciplinary reasons,” but didn't give any specifics. Cameroon was down 3-1 but second-half substitute Vincent Aboubakar turned the game with a goal and an assist. Cameroon plays Brazil in its last group-stage match while Serbia faces Switzerland. Ghana 3, South Korea 2 – Kudus scores 2, Ghana beats South Korea 3-2 at World Cup Mohammed Kudus scored a pair of goals and Ghana staved off elimination at the World Cup with a 3-2 victory over South Korea. Mohammed Salisu also scored for the Black Stars. Ghana lost its opening match against Portugal and was in need of points for a chance to reach the knockout round in Qatar. Cho Geu-sung Cho scored both of South Korea's goals about three minutes apart early in the second half to even the game at 2-2. Brazil 1, Switzerland 0 – Brazil advances at World Cup with 1-0 win over Switzerland Brazil overcame the absence of Neymar to beat Switzerland 1-0 and advance to the round of the 16 of the World Cup. Casemiro scored in the 83rd minute with a shot from inside the area to put Brazil in the last 16 with a match to spare in Group G. Brazil forward Neymar stayed at the team's hotel treating a right ankle injury sustained in the opener in Qatar. The win gives Brazil six points from two matches. Switzerland has three. Serbia and Cameroon drew 3-3 earlier in the day and have one point each. Portugal 2, Uruguay 0 – Portugal advances to last 16, beats Uruguay 2-0 at World Cup Portugal became the third team to reach the round of 16 at the World Cup by beating Uruguay 2-0. Bruno Fernandes curled in a cross from the left that barely went over the head of Cristiano Ronaldo and bounced into the far corner of the net in the 54th minute. Ronaldo appeared to believe he had scored. It was awarded to Fernandes after repeated close-up replays. Fernandes added a stoppage-time penalty. Portugal becomes the 3rd team to reach the last 16 after France and Brazil. The match was briefly interrupted just before the goal by a protestor carrying a rainbow flag. A draw or a loss Tuesday night would eliminate the Americans. During unusual pre-match news conferences, captain Tyler Adams was asked to defend the U.S.'s treatment of Black people and chastized for pronoucing the opponent “Eye-ran” instead of “E-ran.” American coach Gregg Berhalter was questioned about U.S. immigration and Naval policy and apologized for the U.S. Soccer Federation's decision to strip the emblem of the Islamic Republic from Iran's flag on social media. Security officials chased the protester down and the flag was dropped on the field before the person was escorted off the field. The referee then picked up the flag and left it on the sideline. It stayed there for a few moments before a worker came and collected it. The protester was ushered away through a tunnel. It wasn't immediately clear if the person faced any charges or had been detained by police.Toronto Maple Leafs center Auston Matthews (34) shoots as Detroit Red Wings defenseman Moritz Seider (53) and Detroit Red Wings defenseman Ben Chiarot (8) defend in the first period of an NHL hockey game Monday, Nov. 28, 2022, in Detroit.
