Today’s guest on the Chasing Poker Greatness podcast is none other than Greatness Village Associate Coach and Tactical Tuesday co-host Thomas Bain.Thomas is a professional poker player, poker coach, podcaster-in-training, and poker course creator. He’s also a really amazing human who I feel blessed to call my close friend. You might not know this but it’s entirely possible Chasing Poker Greatness would not exist today if it weren’t for Terminator Thomas. A few years back I stopped taking on new poker students and assumed they’d all eventually drop off and I could laser focus on being the best cardplayer I could be. Surprisingly, year after year Thomas just kept on paying for coaching sessions. Those coaching sessions became regular reminders of just how much fulfillment and happiness I got from guiding folks in their poker journeys.Thomas, above all else, has a poker mind like a diamond. He’s been one of the biggest winners at every single stake he’s ever played, live or online. There are times in our private Slack Community where Thomas gives next-level feedback on a hand history or poker strategy question and I think to myself, “Damn, that’s absolute genius. How am I supposed to be coaching this dude?”Then, of course, he tried to do an intro for Tactical Tuesday and I learned that maybe he doesn’t have it all figured out just yet.In today’s episode you’re going to learn:Thomas’s poker origin story, including how him and I originally met.Why Thomas graduated with a degree in Organizational Psychology from Ivy League Columbia University but forgot to actually use it.Why the mere mention of Kevin Rabichow makes Thomas’s heart flutter. And much, MUCH more!So without any further ado, I bring to you my oldest student, partner in course creation, and dear friend Thomas Bain.

Succeeding as an oral surgeon is about far more than academic and clinical talent. It also requires you to be a leader and a salesperson. This is just one of the many great insights today’s guest, Dr. Thomas Schlieve, shares with us. Here, Thomas shares what he has gained from How to Win Friends & Influence People and how he has applied this knowledge to improve his practice. As surgeons, we must ensure the highest and best use of our time, and an important part of this is creating systems and delegating unnecessary duties. Joining us today to share his insights on this is Dr. Thomas Sarna, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, based in Fayetteville, Arkansas, and one of Grant’s mentors during residency. In this episode, Thomas walks us through some of his systems and the tasks he no longer does, including fielding calls, pre or post-op preparations and briefings, and calling around for referrals. Although creating structures and processes takes a lot of work and training on the frontend, once staff is up to par, surgeons have much more energy to do what they love, and ultimately create the most efficient practice possible. We also touch on communicating risks with clients and balancing being transparent with ensuring the patient remains comfortable and at ease. Thomas shares his approach and what he believes is the right amount to share. Along with this, we discuss the use of technology in Thomas’ practice and why he still prefers to take hand-written notes, how he handles communicating with difficult parents or patients, and the importance of knowing your staff’s strengths and weaknesses and drawing on them accordingly. Register's vision,  His goal: to revive brick-and-mortar stores.   But more importantly, he wants to get people  away from their screens--and having fun interacting with one another once. Thomas is the inventor of Chopper Shopper: a new concept that allows consumers to fly drones in unused retail spaces.  Along the way, they'll be finding bargains--and having fun. In the Eureka Park® startup area of CES® 2019, Thomas was exhibiting his prototype.  Currently, he's in the funding stage for Chopper Shopper. After CES® 2019, Thomas talked about the experience that led him to create Chopper Shopper, his experience at CES® and his advice for fellow innovators. On this edition of Over Coffee®, you will hear: How Thomas first came up with the concept for CopterWorld; The ways technological advances, plus his work background, led to Chopper Shopper; The steps of his innovator's journey, so far; How Chopper Shopper works; Why Thomas envisions the game as appealing to our competitive spirit; What he most needs, currently, for the next steps with his startup; Thomas's vision for the future; His experience at CES®  2019 (the first time exhibiting!); What Thomas would like to do differently for his next CES®  show; A "survival tip" from Thomas's experience for fellow innovators who might be at the start of their creative journeys.

Business Coaching with Join Up Dots

Can You Make Life Changing Decisions When You Are Married With Kids? Well, my guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man with an amazing story of taking life by the scruff of the neck and turning full circle to where he wanted to be. As he says "After failing to get much of an education I set up an online business, selling books. This fuelled my passion for all things literary but the business failed. In order to pay the mortgage I started work stacking supermarket shelves at night. During the day I made a career plan to turn things around. In late 2004 I joined the still relatively young online gambling industry, working in a call centre. 5 years later I co-founded a company (which I subsequently sold) and went on to manage operations in the UK, Central and Eastern Europe. From 2013 to 2016 I was CEO of SKS365 Group. I am now a full time consultant, investor & advisor in one or two startups and, more importantly, I am embarking on a career as a writer, writing about mountains and the outdoors. In other words I am following my passion." And this is what makes him the perfect guest for a show like Join Up Dots, as in late 2016 he quit the rat race to redesign his life in a way that was more satisfying, interesting and adventurous both in his personal and professional life. He didn't know how to accomplish the large and vague objective of "living better", although he knew it meant being more entrepreneurial and spending more time outdoors! So he embarked on a career writing about mountains, adventure and his journey of redesigning his life and through his website the Armchair mountaineer he is showing all of us how to take control of our lives. So is it as simple as making a firm decision to do something, even if you haven't got all the dots lined up and doing it? Or did he plan everything out so he could make this the life that he has always wanted, and is so inspiring to the rest of us? Well let's find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Thomas Smallwood. Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Thomas Smallwood such as: How he managed to get the plan in place to be able to transition his life to where he wanted it to be, even if it meant doing stuff that wast part of the plan. Why it is so important to overcome the fear of reaching out to people who are ahead of you in their dream building (ensuring always that you provide value first) Why Thomas believes that you should rarely start anything that you want to make money as a first goal, instead work on the passion and see where it takes you. and lastly…. How no matter where you are in your journey of transition you will be hit by periods of doubt and lack of self confidence. Surround yourself with positive people to hep you through the bad times.

Business Coaching with Join Up Dots

My guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a a father, husband, entrepreneur, and the visionary behind iTREKKERS. He founded the company in 2014 after realizing that bringing together vetted professional captains and guides on one platform would help guarantee everyone a better experience in the outdoors. But what does that mean exactly? Well as he says “Driven by my passion for hiking and fishing and the unreliable and diverse experiences that I have had; iTrekkers has been born. iTrekkers concept is simple: We connect customers to amazing outdoor experience that will help make them advocates. In order to achieve this, we have developed – www.itrekkers.com, where customers will be able to search a city location (such as Tampa), pick the type of fishing Trek they want to do (inshore, nearshore or offshore) and the package / price combination they want, and voila! we provide you with a guide to book. Our booking process is simple, safe and secure. And, best of all, we guarantee our trips 100% customer satisfaction or your money back. “ The end goal is straight forward: They want all their customers to have the best chance of experiencing the great outdoors in the most pleasant and exciting way possible. Now this is an interesting concept for so many reasons, not least the mental aspect of building a business around something that is already out there? Isn't someone else doing it already? How can I charge for something people can do for free anyway? Well our guest has ploughed through all the obstacles and now is seeing his business go from strength to strength. So when did the idea first come to him, and was it something that instantly took hold, or niggled away for many months before taking action? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Thomas Mulliez Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Thomas Mulliez such as: How he decided on the area that he was going to build a business in, and the steps that he took to start his new venture. Why Thomas felt the need to go and see a mentor, and how it managed him to see a totally different way of proceeding in the future. Thomas shares why he surrounds himself with greatest minds that he can hope to find, and what he does to hos own development. and lastly…. Why a terrible bachelor party first gave him the idea of starting how own business, but he still needed a push from his own company to tackle it head on.

Every startup has a growth curve. It looks different for each company depending on many factors, but my guest on this episode says founders need to push their company through its growth curve as fast as possible. Thomas Allier left his home in Paris France to found a startup in Columbia. It's not the normal path of a Latin American company but his decision paid off. His company - Viajala - is now the largest discount flights search engine in Latin America. You’ll enjoy this conversation. Family doesn’t always understand when a founder quits everything to launch a startup. When I asked Thomas Allier what his family’s reaction was when he told them he was going to leave his secure job in Paris and move to Columbia to start a Latin American company, he laughed. That’s often the reaction people have to those who are willing to take the risk required to build a company that adds value to the marketplace. And Thomas is one of those people who has made good on his ambitious decision. In this episode of Crossing Borders you’ll hear his story and walk through the steps he took to expand his discount flight search company from Columbia, to Mexico, to Argentina and Brazil, and beyond. The growth of a Latin American startup can be frustrating, but there’s always a way. The bureaucratic nature of government can be pretty frustrating at times. But in Latin America, it happens on an entirely higher level. That can be problematic for startups as they try to navigate the laws and red tape to provide their services to the end user. But Thomas Allier says there’s always a way to make it happen if you are willing to be patient, work with the system, and keep at it. You’ll be inspired by his unrelenting attitude, so be sure you take the time to listen. The startup growth curve requires that you move fast to make the most of your opportunity. That’s what Thomas Allier says as advice to any founder or entrepreneur who’s considering a startup. He says if he could start all over he’d do things at a much faster pace simply because you don’t have your funding forever and you need to make the most of the opportunities that arise when they come. Thomas has a lot of great advice for anyone who’s trying to grow a business. It’s a great conversation. Simple things are best. That’s what gives startups an advantage. When Thomas Allier was telling me about books he’s read recently he mentioned that one of the things he learned from the recent biography of Steve Jobs is that simple is better. It’s what makes the user experience of Apple products so powerful. He says startups have the same advantage because they have to work lean and smart in order to compete. He believes that founders who focus their growth curve on staying simple will ultimately come out the winners. Outline of This Episode [0:12] Who is Thomas Ailler? Business Coaching with Join Up Dots

Life design is all the rage nowadays, and my guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man with an amazing story of taking life by the scruff of the neck and turning full circle to where he wanted to be.

This morning we have followed some of Jesus’ disciples to an upper room. There’s a deep sense of emptiness. They are still perplexed by the empty tomb, and now, as the night closes in, they are gathered in an empty room. The room is full of failure and fear. Rightly so, for Rome’s most effective tool for keeping order throughout the empire has been exercised on their Master. Despite the locked doors, the failures and the fears, Jesus breaks through. God’s grace expressed now in Jesus raised from the dead, can break through our fear and failures. “Peace be with you.” The Gospel is in the person of the crucified and risen Lord. By this one word, Peace, Jesus is announcing that the cosmic war is over. How is this peace given and received? “He showed them his hands and side.” His scars are the results of a darkened, sin sick world. The author of life came and we killed him. He took all that we could sling at him, Jew and Gentile … the horrors of Rome’s most intimidating instrument … hanging naked on a cross. He came to his own and his own did not receive him. In the face of rejection, ridicule, false witness, the greatest humiliation, he allowed us to crucify him … the wounds are not scars of punishment from his Father, but the scars of the ones he came to heal. His scars are a memorial of a sacrifice, at our attempts to punish and eliminate Jesus. When he breaks into our lives, we must see his wounds. This is how he becomes peace to us. This is how he imparts his peace to us. His wounds show us the power of love … his non-violent humility. His peace is our reconciliation. He sends us out of our own locked rooms, out of isolation, to proclaim the power of his wounds in our lives. By his wounds we are healed. And how shall we go? Receive (welcome) the Holy Spirit (New Breath – Genesis). We are sent out to breathe that same Spirit into the world. Out of this new breathe, we are called to witness the forgiveness of sin (see Eph. 1:7; Col. 2:19-20). Only God can forgive sins? Yes, and that’s why we’re called to forgive just as Christ has forgiven us. He forgives through us. This is the mission of the Church. Our mission is to bear the message is that the world has been forgiven and reconciled to God through faith in Christ. You are forgiven, but you must receive it. We have the power to forgive and retain sins. In the broader context, beyond our personal confession of sin and receiving absolution, we are called to forgive others. Some will not accept the Word of Reconciliation in Christ. Jesus forgave his enemies on the cross … a forgiveness that is prior to any repentance or faith. As we proclaim it, others can receive it. Thomas was absent. Why? Thomas was missing in his own disillusionment. Thomas, like so many, isolated in his grief. But because he heard the testimony of the disciples … we have seen the Lord … he showed up … to be convinced. Thomas, being a twin (Thomas is Aramaic / Didymus is Greek for twin), knows that people are often mistaken for another, and so he wants to confirm for himself that it is indeed the crucified one. His doubt is not out to disprove, but to confirm (Fr. John Behr). Gregory the Great says, “This disbelief of Thomas has done more for our faith than the faith of the other disciples. As he touches Christ and is won over to belief, every doubt is cast aside and our faith is strengthened. So the disciple who doubted, then felt Christ’s wounds, becomes a witness to the reality of the resurrection.” Faith seeking understanding results in the greatest testimony among the apostles, "My Lord, and my God." Thomas is able to worship the risen Lord. “The resurrection is not an alien power breaking into God’s world; it is what happen when the creator himself comes to heal and restore his world, and bring it to its appointed goal.” NT Wright Thomas reminds us that no one is to be written off … there is hope for everyone.

Commercial Real Estate Investment expert and the President of Toben Partners, Thomas Jorglewich, started out his real estate career as a sales broker with the Marcus and Millichap.  Within a few short years, Thomas realized that although he was making great money as a broker he would never reach the point of financial freedom he strived for unless he got on the other side of the table and started owning real estate versus just selling and making commissions.     The next step Thomas took was quitting his job at Marcus and Millichap and taking a position with one of his previous clients, an investor who owned and operated over 1 million sq. ft. of retail space – this was how Thomas would learn the ropes. It wasn’t long before Thomas began building his own RE portfolio and making a name for himself in this industry niche.  Thomas currently owns/operates over 100,000 sq ft of retail space, has completed multiple successful ground up developments as well as distressed turnaround deals, and has become quite successful in the opportunistic and value-add retail shopping center space. Toben Partners main focus is strip and neighborhood shopping centers from 10,000 to 50,000 square feet in size  in the Northern Atlanta Market In this episode, Thomas will pull back the curtain and talk to us about investing in retail shopping centers and why he feels that any active investor looking for a “TRUE” passive income stream and secure returns should strongly consider adding this investment to their real estate portfolio. In this interview with Thomas you’re going to learn: ·         Why Thomas prefers retail property types over the other asset classes like multi-family, office, industrial ·         How getting his start as a commercial RE broker has proven invaluable to his overall success in the industry ·         How his boots on the ground effort and personal connections with his tenants has resulted in high occupancies at his centers ·         His unique approach to pre-leasing his spaces and the strategy behind his method ·         The key components he looks for when considering a new shopping center investment opportunity ·         Why he prefers to invest in his local market rather than expanding his business into new areas. ·         And much more…
