Defying the Odds: Maike Winkelmann's Journey with Personalized Cancer Treatment and Hope

On today's episode of Integrative Cancer Solutions Dr. Michael Karlfeldt is joined by Maike Winkelmann. Maike shares her journey with cancer, it is a powerful testament to resilience and self-advocacy. Diagnosed initially in 2007 while raising a young daughter, Maike faced a recurrence in 2020, which led to the removal of her left breast. Despite the emotional and physical toll, she refused chemotherapy, opting instead for radiation and a personalized treatment plan that combined conventional and alternative approaches. Her story begins with the shock of diagnosis and the challenges of navigating treatment options, all while managing the responsibilities of motherhood and the weight of uncertainty about her future. When her cancer returned in 2023, Maike experienced pain, swelling, and a grim prognosis as metastasis was discovered in her bones, head, and backbone. Doctors initially dismissed her symptoms, but a new scan revealed the extent of the disease. She underwent further radiation and faced significant complications, including fluid accumulation in her lungs. During this difficult period, Maike found hope and inspiration in Jane McClelland's book, which motivated her to become a researcher and advocate for her own healing, determined to explore every possible avenue for recovery. Maike's comprehensive treatment plan is a blend of strict dietary protocols, natural supplements, and off-label drugs such as Metformin and Berberine, aimed at blocking cancer pathways and targeting cancer stem cells. She describes the importance of a starvation phase—avoiding sugar, animal protein, and certain amino acids—followed by a ferroptosis phase, which uses specific fats to induce targeted oxidation of cancer cell membranes. The process is demanding, requiring careful monitoring and frequent adjustments based on her body's response, as well as significant financial and logistical effort to access the necessary treatments and support. Despite the challenges, Maike's perseverance led to remarkable improvement. Within nine months, she progressed from being nearly bedridden to swimming and snorkeling, regaining mobility and quality of life. She credits her recovery not only to the physical aspects of her protocol but also to the mental and emotional support she received from her community and the stress-free environment she created for herself. Her story underscores the importance of holistic healing, where emotional well-being and community support play a crucial role alongside medical interventions. Throughout her journey, Maike emphasizes the individualized nature of her treatment, the need for professional guidance, and the importance of hope. She has inspired others facing similar challenges to revisit their own treatment plans and to believe in the possibility of improvement, even in severe cases. Her experience highlights the power of personalized medicine, the value of self-advocacy, and the profound impact of maintaining hope and determination in the face of adversity.Maike Winkelmann shares her journey of battling cancer since 2007, including a recurrence in 2020 and 2023, and her decision to refuse chemotherapy in favor of a personalized treatment plan. She describes combining conventional medicine with alternative therapies, such as a strict diet, natural supplements, and off-label drugs like Metformin and Berberine.Maike emphasizes the importance of targeting cancer stem cells and using ferroptosis therapy, which involves specific dietary phases to induce cancer cell death.Despite significant challenges, including pain, mobility issues, and financial hurdles, she experiences remarkable improvement and regains her ability to swim and snorkel. Her story highlights the power of self-advocacy, hope, and the impact of personalized, holistic approaches to cancer treatment.Grab my book A Better Way to Treat Cancer: A Comprehensive Guide to Understanding, Preventing and Most Effectively Treating Our Biggest Health Threat - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CM1KKD9X?ref_=pe_3052080_397514860 Unleashing 10X Power: A Revolutionary Approach to Conquering Cancerhttps://store.thekarlfeldtcenter.com/products/unleashing-10x-power-Price: $24.99-100% Off Discount Code: CANCERPODCAST1Healing Within: Unraveling the Emotional Roots of Cancerhttps://store.thekarlfeldtcenter.com/products/healing-within-Price: $24.99-100% Off Discount Code: CANCERPODCAST2----Integrative Cancer Solutions was created to instill hope and empowerment. Today we’re going full throttle into the world of performance by speaking to a super car brand known for its “Raging Bull” logo – and that is Automobili Lamborghini. If you’re a car enthusiast, you might have heard of the origin story of how Automobili Lamborghini was founded in 1963, as a result of an unpleasant exchange between two Italian car enthusiasts. There are multiple variations of the story going around, but here’s the gist of it all. Well, Lamborghini’s founder, Ferruccio Lamborghini, was a successful tractor manufacturer in the 1960s, and he was supposedly dissatisfied with a clutch problem with his sports car. Unhappy with the situation, Lamborghini paid a visit to its manufacturer, where his complaints were said to be dismissed with what some reports described as a “stinging” response. Legend has it that it was exactly this comment from the manufacturer that gave Lamborghini the resolve to build a better sports car. Soon, the Lamborghini 350 GT emerged in 1964, and with it, a “Raging Bull” that aims to trump the “Prancing Horse” (if you get the hint). That was in the 1960s. Over six decades had passed, and today, Automobili Lamborghini produces some of the most iconic and coveted super sports cars in the world. In the first half of 2025, the firm delivered 5,681 cars – the highest-ever result for a first half, and a 2 per cent year on year increase from the figure seen in 2024. But beyond the numbers, it is also an exciting time for Automobili Lamborghini, as the company positions itself for a sustainable future with a fully hybrid fleet. In fact, the CEO and Chairman of Automobili Lamborghini is right here in Singapore to promote the firm’s new Temerario, its second model in the Lamborghini High Performance Electric Vehicle range. But what should we know about the new model, and how far is sustainability the key in turbocharging the “Raging Bull”? And what role will Asia and Singapore play in Automobili Lamborghini’s next bound of growth? On this “On the Go” Special of Under the Radar, Money Matters’ finance presenter Chua Tian Tian sat down with Stephan Winkelmann, CEO and Chairman, Automobili Lamborghini at the launch of Lamborghini’s latest twin turbo V8 high performance electrified vehicle held within Aviation Hub at Seletar Aerospace View in Singapore.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The episode focuses on trends in landscape architecture and debates whether landscaping adds value to a property, if at all. Boizot and Vailas are joined in this episode by guests Howard Morris, SRA, a certified Real Estate Appraiser and Licensed Real Estate Agent in New York, and Kevin Winkelmann, an award-winning landscape architect. Kevin discusses some of the projects he works on, and some of the trends he's seen post-COVID, trends that Morris also sees in his work as an appraiser. These include pools, pergolas, outdoor barbecues and the recent addition of pickle-ball courts. Viewers of the Youtube episode will be able to take a peek at some of the projects Winkelmann designed through his company, Design By Sundown. Throughout the episode, Boizot raises the question of value. Both he and Morris agree that while it may not add much value, they recognize the appeal of outdoor spaces for homeowners. Morris introduces the analogy of a birthday cake. It can be decorated nicely on the outside, but it's the taste inside that matters most. Appraiser-centric -- in line with all the Appraisal Institute's communications -- the new Face Value podcast is targeting audiences across the wider real estate industry. Do you know whether your child's sippy cup is doing more harm than good? Listen to my guest, an infant feeding expert for the answers. Click here for the show notes and extra resources. An infant feeding expert explains why it's best to ditch the sippy cup and use an open cup instead when teaching children to learn to drink on their own. She also shared more baby-led weaning advice. What We Talked About: What are the benefits of Baby-Led Weaning How not using a sippy cup can prevent speech delays and feeding issues Making mealtime safer and more enjoyable for children What are the feeding Developmental Milestones Both the immature and mature swallowing patterns in babies. How to help babies develop essential pre-feeding skills The natural picky eating stage and how to handle it effectively Things to Remember “Parenting is acquiring that knowledge and then making the best decision that works for your family.” “Baby-led-weaning is allowing the baby to have some control and learn new skills.” “Skip the sippy cup and use an open cup to help your child meet their feeding milestones.” “Developmentally, the picky eating phase is normal with the toddlers but not with infants.” “Babies are born to be able to suck and swallow and that swallowing reflex changes as the baby gets older.” “Picky eating is a natural feeding and swallowing phase that every child should go through.” “Two things that a child is doing during that picky-eating phase is they're trying to figure out if that food is still safe for them and they're trying to figure out if that feeder is still safe for them.” - Dawn Winkelmann   Click here for the show notes and extra resources.

In Dangerous Intercourse: Gender and Interracial Relations in the American Colonial Philippines, 1898–1946 (Cornell University Press, 2023), Dr. Tessa Winkelmann examines interracial social and sexual contact between Americans and Filipinos in the early twentieth century via a wide range of relationships—from the casual and economic to the formal and long term. Dr. Winkelmann argues that such intercourse was foundational not only to the colonisation of the Philippines but also to the longer, uneven history between the two nations. Although some relationships between Filipinos and Americans served as demonstrations of US "benevolence," too-close sexual relations also threatened social hierarchies and the so-called civilizing mission. For the Filipino, Indigenous, Moro, Chinese, and other local populations, intercourse offered opportunities to negotiate and challenge empire, though these opportunities often came at a high cost for those most vulnerable. Drawing on a multilingual array of primary sources, Dangerous Intercourse highlights that sexual relationships enabled US authorities to police white and nonwhite bodies alike, define racial and national boundaries, and solidify colonial rule throughout the archipelago. The dangerous ideas about sexuality and Filipina women created and shaped by US imperialists of the early twentieth century remain at the core of contemporary American notions of the island nation and indeed, of Asian and Asian American women more generally. This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose new book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars.
