We spent a lot of time tracking dizzying happenings around the world, around the country, and right in our backyards. With Rob in studio tonight we'll toss some of the week's events into the grinder and mix it up, as well as spending some time discussing the concept of synchronicity. Are you seeing an uptick in “meaningful coincidences” - events which occur with no causal relationship yet seem to be meaningfully related? All of this and more tonight! About This Episode: Rob Booker is a legendary financial trader, author and trainer with more than 2 decades of experience. He has gone from $0 to running his own commodity pool through the 2008 financial meltdown for clients to teaching hundreds of thousands of students across the world. In 2000, Rob was in-debt and desperate for a drastic change. Since his time in law school, Rob always had an interest in the financial market and saw trading currency as a quick fix to his money problems, but that was the farthest thing from the truth. With Rob working a full-time job during the day and studying the market at night, it took a toll on his personal life and 11 months for him to become profitable. It took him another 4 years to be able to become a trader full-time. By 2006, he was making well over 1 million per year until the financial crisis in 2010 and he had to start over...again. This time instead of trading currency, he began to trade stocks and rebuilt from the bottom. Now, Rob is a trainer for Financial Wars, a website dedicated to teaching everyday people about the battles that are being fought over their money behind closed doors. The Financial Wars team is dedicated to equipping readers not just with knowledge, but with the tools and strategies they need to thrive in the financial war. Rob is also the author of Adventures of a Currency Trader: A Fable about Trading, Courage, and Doing the Right Thing that has been translated into multiple languages where he uses trading both to educate others on how to pursue financial security and also inspires people to give back to his community. Although trading has become his passion, the most important thing in his life are his children. In September Catlin Gabel's leadership made a clear and decisive commitment to becoming an anti-racist school. In this fifth episode focusing on anti-racism Head of School Tim Bazemore, Director of Inclusion and Outreach Jasmine Love, and Head of Upper School Aline Garcia-Rubio give a wide-ranging perspective of what that means at an institutional level. With Rob and Matt, they explore the history of privilege at independent schools, what changes have occurred over the past decades, how the school is currently engaged in anti-racist work and what the vision for the school is as we move forward. At a time when all institutions are grappling with issues of race, diversity, inclusion, and equity this episode gives listeners a chance to understand the kind of conversations and thinking that is happening at a high level at Catlin Gabel School. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/elevatelearning/message

Joey Myers (@joeydrums) His Instagram Bio States: "I am equal parts Drummer, Bartender, vinyl fanatic & Monster lover!" Hayride to Hell (one of Joey Myer's Band) States in their Bio website: "Hayride to Hell was started as an earlier incarnation in 1994. Fellow United Rocker brothers John Long and Craig Hart wanted to put together a band to play the European style of Psychobilly, which was pretty much unheard of in the U.S at the time with exception to a few bands. John had played three chords since he was in grade school and Craig had been a bass tech for an upright bass player so over many beers and Jack and Cokes, they got to work learning and writing. Mutual friend Josh Perkins, a third generation guitar luthier and virtuoso helped John and Craig hone things and even played a couple of the earliest gigs. Another friend Paul Perez sat in on drums and songs could now be played. John’s roommate JJ Nichols (brother of Eddie Nichols of Royal Crown Revue), took on the vocals. Wrecking Ball was the name that was settled on and several gigs were performed throughout 1994 including The Monsters of Pomp festival. After discovering that another band in Chicago was using the same band name and had released an album, the boys decided to take the band apart or do something completely different… Hayride to Hell played many gigs and festivals into the new millennium with high points being The Mile High Mayhem festival in Denver, the 1st NY Big Rumble festival and an invite to play the 11th (and last) Big Rumble festival in Great Yarmouth, England. Along the way, the band released their first self-titled album on U.K. label Nervous Records late in 1997. The new Millennium brought some changes. Bill moved to Texas for greener pastures but the band still got together for festivals and a gig here and there. The nutters had lived in neighboring counties before, but now a member was states away making it harder to get together. Craig also decided later to move to the mountains for higher ground. This appeared to be the end of Hayride to Hell… But, John and Joey weren’t ready to throw in the towel just yet. Early in 2002, they discussed ways to continue. First it was always a consensus that if Bill couldn’t play in Hayride to Hell, then Hayride to Hell wouldn't replace him. Also, since John had shared the vocals in the past and Craig couldn’t be with the band, John would take over all of the vocals. All that was needed was a bass player that could at least try to fill the shoes of Craig. Rob Mellberg formerly of The Kingpins and Chicken Coupe deVille is an incredible upright bass player and is amazing to watch. Besides, he was the guy that Craig was a bass tech for years back. After lots of sweat, blood, beers and whiskey, John, Rob and Joey perfected the newer Hayride to Hell sound to be extremely powerful, even as a trio. The boys played their re-debut gig at The LA Wreckers Ball.. Some more festivals along the way included the American Nightmare as well as the LA Wreckers Ball II. In 2005, Hayride to Hell's second album “…and back” was released on the Psychobilly* US label and the band was once again the road. With Rob no longer on bass, John and Joey drafted longtime friend Mal Wrekker for the slap bass. Mal has played with Wreckdefy and the Slanderin' as well as filled in with the Meteors on a tour and fit rig --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/drinksonus/support

RHLSTP Ed Fringe 2019 #12 Rob Auton and Lost Voice Guy - Baked Beans - Richard may be old or tired or both, but he has just experienced a potentially disastrous misunderstanding of Edinburgh geography that would be embarrassing for a newbie. Never mind, his guests are Rob Auton and Lee Ridley aka Lost Voice Guy. With Rob the discussion takes in working in advertising, Cold Feet, a shopping trolley full of items of the same colour and the worthlessness of existence given the infinity of time. Lee and Herring chat about what it’s like to win Britain’s Got Talent, what Simon Cowell is really like, the leap of faith that persuaded a self-conscious man who was unable to speak to attempt stand-up, the most ridiculous things strangers have asked him about his disability and whether anyone would ever heckle a man with no voice. If this podcast makes you want to give some money to Scope then please Text 'HERRING' to 70085 to donate £5. Or you can give any amount up to £20. To donate £3 text 'HERRING 3’. Adventures in Businessing: Entrepreneurship, Small Business, and a Healthy Dose of Humor
Intro While most businesses would pride themselves on producing great products, providing great services, or just generally making a profit, the good people at Saturday Drive know what’s really important, bananas. Yeah. You read that right. Rob opens this episode by describing how much the community loves the fact that the Saturday Drive crew eats bananas. The word that’s spread isn’t how great their products and services are. Nope. It’s the fact that they buy fruit. Did you know that anyone can just walk up and buy fruit? You can’t make this stuff up. The Show Jeremy’s out of town, again, and so James, Rob, and Kevin dive into the world of company culture without him. During his previous hiatus, I reported that Jeremy was in the Mediterranean, but that was a mistake. I can confirm this time, however, that he his indeed basking on the sunny shores of either Italy or Greece. Maybe both. Can I get in on the company culture that involves travelling to far-flung destinations every other week? Kevin pulls back the podcast curtain by explaining that it’s only been a few days since the hosts recorded the previous episode. Turns out, not much has changed in the three days between episodes. If both of your marketing companies were sponsoring, and speaking, at a local conference about social media, you’d probably know about it, right? Well, Rob didn’t. He uses his birthday as an excuse, and then jumps into how that’s a good example of their company culture. They are a small team who works fairly independently. With Rob’s astonishing attention to detail, that’s probably a good thing. When the hosts do get into the meat of the topic, they share that every company has a culture. Often, this culture isn’t created intentionally. James tells about how sarcastic the Saturday Drive office can be, tracing its roots back to the early days when it was just Kevin and him. It seems obvious that James and Kevin really wanted everyone in the same office so that they could be mean to them. The laid back atmosphere that existed when it was just the two of them continued to hang around after they hired employees, and that eventually caused problems. The experience and knowledge that James and Kevin had that allowed them to break up their work however they wanted wasn’t passed along effectively. If you aren’t careful, James warns, the culture that you accidentally create can cause inefficiency and lack of focus. Of course, James is just so darn sarcastic, who knows if he’s serious. If you want to make Rob happy, invite him to a place that has a fridge stocked full of sodas. That’s apparently all it takes. If you fill it, he will come. Throw in some bean bag chairs while you’re at it. Have you ever wondered why James and Kevin decided to call their business Saturday Drive? Me neither, but they’ll be sure to tell you; it’s because they like to drive around and talk about stuff. Most of their good ideas come from riding around in a car listening to Tracy Champan. Our Recommendations Kevin has mentioned before that he has trouble sleeping, and his recommendation is for a meditation app called Headspace. James chimes in with a different suggestion for a meditation app. James uses his passion for this meditation app Breathe to sneak in two recommendations this week. In all fairness, it’s pretty clear that he’s more passionate about his meditation app than Kevin. Rob suggests that you listen to a podcast about directing movies called The Director’s Cut. It features directors who are at the top of their game interviewing other directors about movies you may or may not have seen. I’m going to start putting “Rob recommends something movie related” in the same category as “Rob tells a story.” If you read these notes in the future, just assume that Rob tells a story about a movie he saw anytime he discusses anything. That’ll save us both some time. When James picks up a new service or technology that he likes, he tends to be an evangelist. Sometimes this fades pretty quickly as he realises that the service or technology isn’t really useful. Sometimes he decides to stick with a service. This week, he recommends Grasshopper, a service that sounds like a special cell phone for old people. In reality, the service gives you a phone number that will ring to any number of cell phones, as well as a voice mailbox. If you don’t really have a use for a landline phone, Grasshopper may be a good choice for you.

What does it mean for his recruitment? 37:50 - Picks of the Week: Can Nick and Woody recover? 46:55 - Tweet of the Week 49:45 - Rants and Recommendations

Sports publishers are finding it increasingly difficult to stay in business thanks to a shift from desktop to mobile consumption, which is harder for publishers to monetize, and the inventory they are able to monetize continuing to have decreasing CPM’s and click thru rates. One example of this is Scout Media, who recently sold for pennies on the dollar. Brian Cristiano and Rob Cressy dish about the current sports publishing landscape and the monetization surrounding it. With Rob running Bacon Sports for the last five years, on top of having a background in digital advertising sales, he’s got a unique perspective on the challenges that publishers face. Do you realize how much traffic a publisher needs to actually be able to sustain itself? What are the ways that brands should be approaching publishing (ex. bringing it all in house and becoming their own media company)? At the end Brian and Rob give actionable advice on what you can implement into your business from the current publishing landscape. In each episode of The Sports Marketing Huddle, CEO of BOLD Worldwide Brian Cristiano, and Founder of Cress Media & Bacon Sports Rob Cressy give a forward-thinking perspective about some of the hottest topics in the world of sports marketing and then give you actionable advice on how you can implement it into your business. On this week’s episode we have calls from: The latest twist and turns in Ambridge have brought even dedicated listener Lucy to a deafening halt as she refuses to listen next week - which is lucky as there will be no podcast next week. She promises to listen the following week by when Roifield will be resettled in one of the colonies. Yes Lucy feels that the story Rob told the police was unbelievable - but it gives Helen motive and the means and opportunity are already established, so a conviction should be easily established. With Rob home of course Henry will join him. Callers this week are particularly perceptive and as usual the missing cast members (particularly Kathy) are lamented - it is simply terribly poor that such a constant friend of Pat's would not be mentioned. It has been said many times that one over dominating story does not work - when will a new editor sort it out - the post has now been advertised Millie Belle reports.
