Are you hiding behind a version of faith that looks good on the outside but conceals fear, shame, and distance from God? In this compelling message, Pastor Jarod Smith takes us back to Genesis 3 to expose the first "cover-up" in human history—when Adam and Eve sewed fig leaves to hide their shame. Through biblical insight, personal stories, and spiritual revelation, we uncover what fig leaf faith really is: a faith built on appearance, performance, and self-reliance. You'll discover: - Why hiding from God always leads to emptiness - How the enemy uses doubt and desire to distort God's Word - What it means that God clothed Adam and Eve—foreshadowing Christ - And how Jesus came not to expose you, but to cover you with grace If you've ever felt the pressure to look put together on the outside while falling apart inside, this message is for you. ____ Partner with New Tribe: Give | https://newtribe.church/give/ ____ Connect with New Tribe: Website | https://newtribe.church/comeexperience/ Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/newtribechurch Facebook | https://www.facebook.com/newtribechurch YouTube | https://www.youtube.com/newtribechurch

John's gospel or good news testimonial to Jesus' person and nature is summarized in this key verse- And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. -John 1-14 ESV--Who is this Word-- What is the nature and purpose of his coming-- To fully grasp the meaning of this sentence we must consider the context. Ephesians 6:10-16 NIV 10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.___Ephesians 6:16 NIV 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. ___Exodus 17:8 NIV 8 The Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim. ___Ephesians 6:16 NIV 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. ___Ephesians 5:25b-26 NIV25 (Jesus) gave himself up for her (the Church) 26 to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the Word…___What are you pouring on your faith? ___Isaiah 54:17 NASB 17 “No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; And every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their vindication is from Me,” declares the Lord.___Exodus 17:9 NIV 9 Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hands.”___Exodus 4:1-2 NIV Moses answered, “What if they do not believe me or listen to me and say, ‘The Lord did not appear to you'?” 2 Then the Lord said to him, “What is that in your hand?” “A staff,” he replied.___1. What are you pouring onto your faith?2. Are you willing to pick it up?___Exodus 17:10-11 NIV 10 So Joshua fought the Amalekites as Moses had ordered, and Moses, Aaron and Hur went to the top of the hill. 11 As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning.___1. What are you pouring onto your faith?2. Are you willing to pick it up?3. Do you recognize that we need others?____Exodus 17:12 NIV 12 When Moses' hands grew tired, they took a stone and put it under him and he sat on it. Aaron and Hur held his hands up—one on one side, one on the other—so that his hands remained steady till sunset. ___Galatians 6:2 NIV 2 Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.___James 5:16 NASB 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.___Exodus 17:13 & 15 NIV 13 So Joshua overcame the Amalekite army with the sword. 15 Moses built an altar and called it The Lord is my Banner. ___1. New Testament Reading- 1 Thessalonians 4-14-18--Questions for Further Reflection---If God first redeemed Israel and then gave them His law, what type of covenant were they under, a covenant of works or a covenant of grace- Is the New Covenant a covenant of works or a covenant of grace- So, are we still called to live holy lives today---In light of the above, is our holy living -good works- to be done to gain our salvation, or as gratitude for our salvation---At times we have spoken about our worship service taking place at the heavenly Mt. Zion -Hebrews 12-18ff.-. So, if Israel had to prepare to come into the presence of the Lord upon Mt. Sinai -Exodus 19-10ff.-, should we not prepare ourselves for coming into the presence of the Lord each Lord's Day---Another way of looking at this passage would be that their time of consecration was a preparation for hearing the Word of the Lord -the giving of the law in Ch. 20-. So, how should we be preparing ourselves to hear the Word of the Lord- Would the opportunity to gather for prayer before the service be a good way to prepare for the hearing of the Word- What other ways should you be preparing to come before the Lord and hear His Word---Priests offered sacrifices to the Lord. So, how are we to be a kingdom of priests today- Do we have any sacrifices that we are to make to the Lord- See Hebrews 13-15 and Romans 12-1.
Do Christians rightly divide the Word of truth by dividing Israel from the Church or by dividing history into different dispensations? What is dispensational premillennialism anyway, and where does it depart from God's Word? What does Paul want Timothy to do with the Word of truth? Join Pastor Timothy Appel for some bonus podcast material on 2 Timothy 2:15. To find out more about dispensational premillennialism, check out these two documents from the Commission on Theology and Church Relations of the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod: The End Times: A Study on Eschatology and Millennialism A Lutheran Response to the "Left Behind" Series “The Word is Trustworthy” is a mini-series on Sharper Iron that goes through the three pastoral epistles: 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, and Titus. These three letters are named after their recipients, two young pastors in the Christian Church. St. Paul gives instruction to these two men concerning the doctrine and life of the congregations where they are given to serve. In these epistles, the Apostle teaches both pastors and congregations of all times and places that the sound doctrine from God’s Word is faithful to save sinners in Christ Jesus.

How does a “Follower of Jesus” identify truth in a fallen world of mixed messages? The obvious answer is God’s Word and what the “Follower of Jesus” believes about it. Is it truly God’s Word? What does His Word say about Him, you, the world and truth? This is the beginning of determining what is truth in the mixed messages surrounding you.
Forbes says, The church or communities of faith have a Word, which if the Word could be heard it could show us how we are one, how we can work for the common good, how we could serve God and have the fulfillment we long for. The church is sitting on this word. It is related to the golden rule, it is related to the great commandment, it is related to love, it is related to caring for one another. How is the church often quick to defend and protect the Word rather than share the Word? What does it mean to you to be the living Word in the world today? If togetherness, if oneness in God is who we actually are, how do we work towards expressing unity in this technological age? Forbes asks, What will it take to bring us together again? How can we use today’s technology towards wholeness verses fragmentation?
Text: Psalm 1Title: RootedTheme: As a tree is planted by streams of water... we'll use this first Psalm to give a big picture of the Psalms in general and to teach the value of being rooted in God's instructions and presence and Word - What it produces in our lives and how it leads us in the right path.
FAITH THAT BELIEVES ••• Bible Study Verses: Acts 14.9, Mat8.10, Eph.2.8, Romans 4.4, Hebrews13.8, Numbers 23.19, Acts 22.4-5&20, Mat1.1-25, Heb11.31, John 15.7, 1Peter 1.25, Isaiah 40.8, Matthew 13:58, Mark 1.22. “The same is true of victorious living. If you believe that you are victorious already, then you will experience victory after victory. But if you put your hope in the future, you can only experience victory in the future. The past tense occupies a vital position in our prayers. It is what I have and not what I want. Wanting something is a sign of unbelief. The word want often blocks our prayers from being answered. The word of the Lord is clear: he who believes that he has received shall receive” The Normal Christian Faith, Chapter 14, by Watchman Nee† “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples”, John 15.7-8, NKJV. Why don’t some ‘born again’ Christians believe that God’s promises are for them? What shapes and dictates our attitudes towards our spiritual blessings of our Creator God, the Lord Christ Jesus? Does knowing a certain prayer formula determine wether or not we receive the blessings of God? What concept is essential for having faith in the blessings of God for our lives? Point: We cannot know God if we refuse to listen to Him, nor will we understand the life He created us to live if we choose not to hear from Him. Scripture: Colossians 3:1-4; Psalm 119:9-16 Questions: 1. Read Colossians 3:1-4 and Psalm 119:9-16. What does it look like to “set your mind on things that are above”? 2. Why do you think it’s so hard for people to read God’s word? Explain. 3. Why do so many people allow “the preacher” to do all the heavy lifting of reading and understanding God’s Word? What problems does this create? 4. What is necessary for someone to become a student of God's word or even have interest in reading it continually? 5. What are some practical ways to make reading the Word a habit? What keeps you in the Word? What keeps you away?
Welcoming the Word of Christ is of vital importance to you. How can we welcome the Word- What are the byproducts of this lifestyle-
Are we flat, rocky, thorny, or fertile soil as we receive the Word? What is the Word of God? Are we as receptive to the Word when it comes in different ways? What about a tough word from Dr. King? Just some of the questions we think about today in the sermon...

Welcome to Ruminate, our daily video Bible study carrying you through the week. Our desire is that you would connect with God's Word daily, and this video is one way to do that each weekday. Today we are going to ruminate on Psalm 119:12-16. // David, the Psalm writer, did not enter into his relationship with God unawares. He fully knows the law of God, the ways of God, and he is stoked about it. He desires to know more and more and more the will and ways of God. He delights in the Word of God. He spends significant time meditating, or ruminating, and thinking about the ways and Word of God. He desires that God would teach him more and more—that God would open his mind and heart to understanding. He praises God for the Word hidden in his heart, back in verse 11, that keeps him from sinning and ends with the proclamation that he will not neglect God’s Word. Have you neglected God’s Word? What if you started praying each day that God would teach you His Word, that He would give you delight and joy in the Bible, and that He would transform your heart, mind, and will from the inside out according to His Word?
Are you finding it hard to be obedient to God’s Word? What are some steps that we can take to start tracking in the right direction? Tune in this week as Amanda shares how the evidence of obedience is change, that we first need to take that initial step of faith in obedience to Him. And then when we continue to step out in faith, even when we don’t feel like it, God will bless us for it (James 1:25). : : See you in church - www.c3toronto.com
God’s Prophetic Voices to America – Dr David Reagan pt 3 (https://kcrpodcast.com/?attachment_id=98861) We know that this nation, despite all of the misinformation being promoted today, that the United States has, as its foundation, Christian principles based on the Word of God. Our Founding Fathers often referenced scripture in almost every speech they gave. They purposely wove scripture references and Christian morality into the founding documents of this nation. They did not have to apologize for referencing scriptures. They did not apologize for their Faith. But today, we see a very different America. We see an America that, as former President Obama famously bragged, “America is not a Christian nation anymore.” What happens when a nation that God has Blessed, decides they no longer want to follow God’s Word? What happens when a nation that ignores the continuous warnings to repent? Do some of the preachers today have it right? Some say, “God will never forget America!” Some say, “We live under Grace and Mercy. God is not vengeful anymore.” Some say, “God is a God of Love, not Judgment.” Today’s guest has written a book that discusses these questions. Not only does the book, “God’s Prophetic Voices to America” answer those questions, it lays out several of the prophetic voices God has sent to us. God has given us many, many warnings. And here to discuss this book, is the author, Dr. David Reagan. Dr. Reagan is the founder and director of Lamb & Lion Ministries and the host of the weekly television program, “Christ in Prophecy,” which discusses the prophetic significance of national and international events we see in the news. Dr. Reagan is the author of 15 books concerning various aspects of Bible prophecy. In a matter of full disclosure, “Christ in Prophecy” is also heard on “Evangelism Radio” on a daily basis. In fact, when we started “Evangelism Radio” back in October of 2010, I reached out to several major ministries and Dr. Reagan’s team was one of the first to approve our use of his program on our radio station. In your opinion, why is this so hard for preachers to actually condemn sin today? God has not left us without messengers today. In your book, you have a section for “Current Voices” in America. Can you share some of those prophetic voices and how they have continued to proclaim God’s warnings for us today? Erwin Lutzer – A Voice Emphasizing the Evil of Man. David Jeremiah – Voice of Warning Decrying Rebellion. William Koenig – Voice of Warning Concerning Israel. Jan Markell – A Voice Denouncing Apostasy. Albert Mohler – A Voice Confronting Intellectuals. Franklin Graham – A Voice Calling for Repentance. Robert Jeffers – A Voice Warning of Impending Judgment. Jonathan Cahn – A Voice Declaring Impending Judgment. One of the more “visible voices” today is Pastor Robert Jeffers, pastor of First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. I remember listening to Dr. Criswell, his predecessor, on the radio when I lived in Texas. But Pastor Jeffers has taken on the role, basically of “national spokesman” for Jesus Christ today. He is called on many times to give the Spiritual perspective on things in the news. I know Israel holds special significance to you and to Bible prophecy. I would like you to address America’s relationship with the nation of Israel. The Bible is clear that in the final days, “every nation” will turn against Israel. That term, “every nation” also includes the United States. How has this been taking shape in the recent past and what does it look like moving forward? In the last section of your book, you talk about the 2016 election of Donald Trump. You also contrast it with the election of Jimmy Carter. You also state that, if Hillary Clinton would have been elected, the path to our destruction would have accelerated. But because God worked it out to give us Donald Trump, the path has not been averted, just delayed. I...

Can you give us a few examples of remedial judgments we have seen in America and what precipitated them in the first place? Most of the preaching and teaching today has to do with “the Love of God” and the “Grace of God” and the “Mercy of God.” Very little has to do with the “Fear of God” or the “Wrath of God.” In your opinion, why is this so hard for preachers to do today? Help me welcome to the program, Dr. David Reagan. Dr. Reagan, thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to visit with us today and discuss this timely book! Now, just for the sake of our listeners that may not be familiar with Lamb & Lion Ministries, you left a successful career as a university professor to start this ministry. Can you explain how you came to the realization that you needed to stop teaching students and start teaching Bible prophecy? I became familiar with your ministry way back in the fall of 1998 when I was attending Bible School at Jerry Savelle Ministries in Crowley, Texas. I can’t remember for sure, but I think it was a 15 minute radio program back then. I don’t think you were on television when I was living in the Fort Worth area. Is that right? I did not really get interested in Bible Prophecy until I heard your radio program. I knew the Bible talked about prophecy and the Book of Revelation, etc. But your program sparked the, “What did he just say? Does the Bible really say that?” type of questions for me. In your book, you make the case for the scripture in Luke [12:48], “To whom much is given, much is required.” And you make the case for the extreme blessings this nation has received since our founding and also how we have squandered those blessings. We as a nation, have basically thumbed our noses at God. Can you share with us how God deals with rebellious nations? Especially ones that He has extremely blessed? Call for repentance. Remedial Judgments. Point of no return – destruction. In your book you do a great job of explaining that many of the issues we face today really started back in the 1930’s as the United States started taking on a “Humanist” point of view. Can you explain that for our listeners? You share four voices from America’s past that shared these warnings with us. Can you...
11/3/19 - We all want to have significance and meaning in our lives. Jesus tells us that that meaning can't come apart from him. During a lakeside teaching, Jesus tells a parable about dirt that relates to fruitfulness in his Kingdom. So what is the dirty truth about how to be fruitful in King Jesus' Kingdom? Listen in to find out. MESSAGE NOTES: Parables - “a casting alongside” a brief story told by way of analogy to illustrate a spiritual truth; ⅓ of Jesus’ teaching in parables; parables force people to dig deeper and ask, “What does Jesus mean? How does this apply to my life?” Mark 4:1-20 NLT Parable of the Farmer Scattering Seed 1 Once again Jesus began teaching by the lakeshore. A very large crowd soon gathered around him, so he got into a boat. Then he sat in the boat while all the people remained on the shore. 2 He taught them by telling many stories in the form of parables, such as this one: 3 “Listen! A farmer went out to plant some seed. 4 As he scattered it across his field, some of the seed fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate it. 5 Other seed fell on shallow soil with underlying rock. The seed sprouted quickly because the soil was shallow. 6 But the plant soon wilted under the hot sun, and since it didn’t have deep roots, it died. 7 Other seed fell among thorns that grew up and choked out the tender plants so they produced no grain. 8 Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they sprouted, grew, and produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted!” 9 Then he said, “Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.” 10 Later, when Jesus was alone with the twelve disciples and with the others who were gathered around, they asked him what the parables meant. 11 He replied, “You are permitted to understand the secret of the Kingdom of God. But I use parables for everything I say to outsiders, 12 so that the Scriptures might be fulfilled: ‘When they see what I do, they will learn nothing. When they hear what I say, they will not understand. Otherwise, they will turn to me and be forgiven.'” 13 Then Jesus said to them, “If you can’t understand the meaning of this parable, how will you understand all the other parables? 14 The farmer plants seed by taking God’s word to others. 15 The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message, only to have Satan come at once and take it away. 16 The seed on the rocky soil represents those who hear the message and immediately receive it with joy. 17 But since they don’t have deep roots, they don’t last long. They fall away as soon as they have problems or are persecuted for believing God’s word. 18 The seed that fell among the thorns represents others who hear God’s word, 19 but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the worries of this life, the lure of wealth, and the desire for other things, so no fruit is produced. 20 And the seed that fell on good soil represents those who hear and accept God’s word and produce a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!” People with hearts like a: Path: Hear word, but Satan (birds) snatches away word (lies, doubts, strongholds, etc.) Rocky Ground: Hear & receive with joy, but shallow roots (no firm foundation) causes plant to die (amidst trials and hardships) Thorny Ground: Hear word, but worldly desires & riches (thorns) chokes out word Good Soil: Hear and accept Word and bear fruit 30x, 60x, 100x Key Verse: “To you has been given the secret of the kingdom of God” verse 11 Secret of the kingdom of God - something formerly hidden but now revealed that would never be known without God revealing it Jesus cares most about the condition of your heart (soil) (verses 3-9, 13-20) My fruitfulness depends on my hearts receptivity to God’s Word What is the condition of my heart’s soil/receptivity to God’s Word?

We are continuing in a series here at the podcast on the Spiritual Disciplines. On today's episode, we are going to discuss the importance of reading God's Word along with some practical helps to implement it into our days. We have a God that we can know and meet with and because of that, we should meet with God on a regular daily basis. My hope is by the end of the podcast today that we would all see and understand why we need to do this as those who are born again - first off if we’re in Christ God is our Father, and we are His children. I want to spend time with my Heavenly Father. I desire to know Him more because as I do that I get a clearer understanding of who I am in light of Him and it changes my perspective of the world as I begin to see all of life and the world through His perspective. This only comes about as I spend time with Him in worship, in fellowship and in the reading of His Word—which is the topic today. I can only come before God because of Jesus—He is the mediator between God and sinful man. If we’re in Christ, we have access to the Father, and we can meet with Him and know Him because of Jesus. Hebrews 4:16 tells us - Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. John 17:17 tells sanctify them in truth - your word is truth. Jesus is praying for our sanctification the process of being made more and more into Christlikeness. It’s to be like Jesus. He is asking the Father to do this by the truth. What is truth? God’s Word is truth. We are sanctified by truth - God’s Word is truth, so we are sanctified by the Word of God. I could just stop here because that’s a pretty good reason enough for us to be in the Word on a regular daily basis. Since the origin of sin, the human race has sought to dehumanize a segment of its population. From the Aztecs to the Holocaust the value of human life has been edited to fit a definition of convenience rather than a universally true one. And while all genocide is an unfathomable tragedy there is no genocide that has claimed more lives than abortion. Join Shawn, Steve, and Robert as they explain why abortion is genocide on this week’s episode of the 40 Days for Life Podcast. Abortion is the textbook definition of genocide You don't have to delve too far into the comment sections of the internet to find people who are offended by abortion being defined as a genocide. It seems that the culture’s go-to move to keep from having intelligent arguments in favor of their position is to hide behind that offense like a shield. However, when you look at the U.N. approved definition of genocide it’s hard to see abortion as anything but an act committed with the intent to destroy (in whole or in part) a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group. Learn more about how the definition of genocide directly applies to abortion on this week’s episode of the 40 Days for Life Podcast. The world’s history of genocide paved the way for abortion Since the dawn of time, the devaluation of human life has paved the way for the relatively global acceptance of abortion. Aztecs, Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Nazis, and even so-called Christians committed atrocities that left the definition of person hood up to preference instead of the Word of God. Even events as recent as American slavery were instrumental in legalizing abortion. In context, Dred Scott set a dangerous precedent that opened the door for a ruling like Roe V. Wade. This week’s episode of the 40 Days for Life Podcast will dive deep into the pages of history to find out how humanity’s past has determined the present. Every genocide needs a scapegoat and abortion is no exception Scapegoating is a tactic used to orchestrate every major genocide in human history. Hitler blamed the Jews for Germany’s economic decline after World War I. Pol Put used western influence as a reason to murder 25 percent of Cambodia’s population. There is always a reason even if that reason is never good enough to end a human life. What makes the genocide of abortion so unique and terrifying is that you can have any reason to end the life of an unborn child. Economic circumstances, genetic disabilities, or even the child being unwanted are all good enough reasons for places like Planned Parenthood to murder the innocent. Discover why scapegoating is just as effective today with abortion as it has been with genocides of the past on this week’s episode of the 40 Days for Life Podcast. Understanding why abortion is genocide is the key to ending it When you look at the numbers alone, abortion is the most horrific genocide in human history. 56 million children lose their lives each year in the name of words like “pro-choice” and “human rights”. The irony of the latter is almost a laughable offense because the main platform in favor of abortion works to dehumanize unborn children with words like “fetus” and “potential life”. However, when the truth is allowed to prevail over propaganda abortion is able to be unmasked as the genocide that it is. Imagine the potential for change if the social justice-minded generation of today was to grasp that reality. That would be the end of abortion. Gain the knowledge you need to define abortion for what it really is on this week’s episode of the 40 Days for Life Podcast. Rivers Church in Delta, Colorado exists to build Family, Church, Community and Kingdom! Go to RiversChurch.org to get more free resources to build your faith! Fruits & Twigs Pastor Jason Neely In John 15 Jesus describes God’s Love in the allegory of the Vine and the Branches. Jesus issues a simple command in this allegory: Love each other. However, when we understand the entire context, we can see that while God’s Love is Unconditional and Free and Undeserved, it is still a Tough Love, a Just Love. The word “Unconditional” Love is not found in Scripture, but many of the principles and attributes of that characteristic are found in Scripture. However, there are also the attributes of Reciprocity, which are often ignored. Vines & Branches Jesus Christ is The Vine. Jesus is the Source. We are connected to Him. Jesus creates Fruit through us. Oftentimes we think because we are fruitful that we should get the credit, but in reality, it is Christ in us who should receive the credit for the Fruit. The Branches are the Believers (NOT the Church) Some truths about branches: Branches are required to produce. Branches that do not produce are removed. Branches that do not produce are not attached to Christ. Branches are sustained through Obedience (v.10). Branches that do produce are pruned in order to produce more. So What’s the main difference between pruned branches and disconnected branches? Eternity. Connected Branches have their prayers answered. Two requirements for answered prayer: (v.7) Remain in Christ; which means ‘fruitfulness’ Know God’s Word. When you know the Word, and as you increase in the knowledge of the Word, you then understand more clearly what to ask for. The Word of God shapes our requests appropriately. So what's the Fruit Fruit is an evidence of Salvation. Fruit of the Spirit – Gal. 5:22-23 “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” There are some people who talk a big game about the Gifts of the Spirit, but they have no Fruit of the Spirit. I’ll take a person with the Fruit of the Spirit all day long as compared to a person with only the Gifts of the Spirit. Fruit looks differently for everyone. Fruit for some is an inward development of spiritual growth. Fruit for some can be the overcoming of weakness in one’s life. Fruit for others is acts of service in the Church. (ministering to others in the Church, teaching, administering, volunteering, etc.) Fruit for yet others is leading others to Christ. Fruit Development is Constant! But the Harvest is usually seasonal. All fruit builds the Kingdom! The Command Jesus’ Command is to love each other. Once again we see Scripture teaching us that those inside the Church is the priority over those outside the Church. Commands are to be taken seriously And Jesus issues this command twice. The Greek word for that means ‘pay attention’. Jesus' example of Love: lay down your life for your friends (not just family). These friends are those who are in the Church. You are a Friend of God if you do what He Commands. (v.14) So, the question is, are you a Friend of God? Are you living according to God’s Word? What is the Fruit of God in our life? Are we a fruity bunch? Or are we just a bunch of nuts and flakes? God asks for Fruit, not trail mix. Many of you are going through a pruning process right now; a testing, a trimming. It is not a pleasant experience. We oftentimes feel we are giving enough to God, and then God says ‘you need to give more’, or ‘there’s more fruit to be had in your life’. Friend, you’re in the hands of the Master Gardner; He’s not going to destroy you or your fruit, but the process of gaining additional fruit may be painful for a season. Do you really trust the Gardner with your Spiritual Fruit? With your life? If God has been wanting to prune you in some way, and you’ve been resisting Him, now is the time to surrender to His care. God knows what He’s doing, but do you trust Him to do it?

Examine your own life and determine what, if anything, you are calling “good” but that is actually “not good”. Pray for clarity to see things as God sees them.
