A study by Hult International Business School and Workplace Intelligence reveals that 89% of HR leaders prefer not to hire recent graduates due to skill gaps. The survey included 800 HR leaders and an equal number of recent graduates aged 22 to 27. The majority of employers, 98%, face challenges in finding appropriate talent. Key concerns include a lack of real-world experience (60%), a limited global mindset (57%), and insufficient teamwork skills (55%). Notably, 37% of HR leaders would rather hire AI than recent graduates, and 45% would choose freelancers. Among companies that employed recent graduates, 78% terminated some within a year. Graduates report that work experience outpaces college education, with 77% learning more in six months than over four years of university. Additionally, while 97% of HR leaders value technology skills in AI and data analytics, only 20% of graduates possess these competencies. Dustin Oldham, host of Change Starts Here, spoke with Schawbel about workplace challenges in schools, such as staff retention and what to do about it. A self-described “advisor and a champion” of workers, Schawbel has worked with many businesses and loves the idea of branding, which works for anyone with a mind to create any kind of business, company, or organization. “The reason why everyone needs to care about branding, whether it's a company brand, personal brand, product brand, is because it is a huge competitive advantage,” said Schawbel. “Because…the companies that are most likely to hold on and maintain are the ones that have built trust in the form of a brand.” On the subject of teacher retention in schools, Schawbel pointed out that, in the last few years, teachers have had to deal with burnout, low pay, and delayed retirement in. “The value proposition of being a teacher…is diminishing,” said Schawbel, which means that the “talent pipeline” is diminishing (which also affects the medical field, especially with nurses). This also helps explain why younger generations are less and less interested in becoming teachers. On top of changing conditions, Schawbel says employers need to listen to their employees. “Figure out what they want, figure out what their struggles are, and try and resolve as many as you can the best you can.” He added, “We have a lack of listening in corporate culture and school culture and I do think that there is not going to be a way around of not paying enough anymore.” Key Points: -Schools can retain staff by listening and solving their struggles. -Talent pool for teachers is low because they demand more from schools. -Things can only change if conditions and payment are improved for teachers.

More than 8 out of 10 global executives believe their people feel “excellent” or “good” in their physical, mental, social and financial wellbeing, according to a February survey of 2,100 people from Deloitte and Workplace Intelligence. However, employees rate how well they're doing in each category much lower. In one big misalignment, though 81% of C-suite leaders think their employees are doing well with their finances, just 40% of employees actually feel that way John Petersen is the founder of Threshold Rising LLC a company focused on 'leadership as fellowship,' the belief that trust is the currency of relationships. Bonjour à tous et bienvenue dans le ZD Tech, le podcast quotidien de la rédaction de ZDNet. Je m'appelle Clarisse Treilles, et aujourd'hui nous allons nous intéresser aux tendances RH qui vont façonner l'année 2023.  Dans un monde post-pandémique, l'environnement de travail a été bouleversé. Le télétravail et le travail hybride ont gagné les usages, forçant nombre d'entreprises à composer avec des équipes dispersées, qui collaborent à distance avec plus de flexibilité que par le passé. En 2023, certaines tendances RH pourraient bien s'accentuer, et avec elles, des conséquences bien réelles sur notre manière de travailler. Prenons quelques exemples. Tout d'abord, il est certain que le travail hybride n'est pas prêt de disparaître. Bien que de nombreuses entreprises forcent leurs employés à revenir au bureau - et nous en avons eu un exemple très récent chez Twitter -, ces dernières ne lâchent pas le travail hybride et à distance pour autant.  Et avec une inflation qui augmente encore le coût de la vie, les employés ne voudront peut-être pas dépenser plus pour acheter de l'essence, un déjeuner à l'extérieur ou encore le café du matin. Sans compter que de nombreux bureaux se débarrassent également des agencements traditionnels, maintenant que les employés travaillent régulièrement depuis chez eux. Bon nombre d'experts des ressources humaines s'accordent à dire que les réaménagements de bureaux dans les années à venir pourraient favoriser le travail collaboratif et réinventer profondément l'open space. Deuxième tendance à laquelle on peut s'attendre l'année prochaine : l'investissement en hausse dans les formations, pour permettre aux salariés de se doter des compétences dont ils ont besoin.  D'ailleurs, selon une enquête récente d'Amazon et de Workplace Intelligence, plus de 80 % des employés placent l'amélioration de leurs compétences en tête de leurs priorités pour l'année prochaine. Finalement, quelle que soit l'organisation de travail adoptée, le mot d'ordre en 2023 est la flexibilité. L'équilibre entre vie professionnelle et personnelle est devenu un enjeu précieux. Les phénomènes que l'on observe ces derniers temps, tels que le “quiet quitting” ou la Grande Démission aux Etats-Unis, sont la preuve que les entreprises qui ne parviennent pas à injecter plus de flexibilité dans leur organisation de travail pourraient risquer de perdre leurs meilleurs talents.
