When organizing your casual clothes at home, deciding whether to fold or hang can make a significant difference in maximizing space and keeping your clothes in good condition. T-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies each have different storage needs due to their fabric type and structure. How You Store Your Tops Can Depend on a Few Things, So Which Way is Best? Here are the best ways to store each of these items, along with some tips and considerations to keep in mind to keep your favorite clothes looking their best.T-Shirts: Fold or Hang Based on MaterialFor most t-shirts, folding is the best option. Hanging t-shirts can cause the fabric to stretch over time – particularly around the neckline and shoulders – which leads to an unflattering shape that's hard to get back to normal. However, if your t-shirts are made of 100% cotton or a high-quality, structured fabric, hanging can be a good option to prevent wrinkles.Classic Fold: Lay the t-shirt flat, fold in the sleeves, and fold it in half or thirds for easy stacking.KonMari Fold: Fold into a compact rectangle that can stand upright, allowing you to store them vertically in drawers for easy visibility and access.Hanging Option: Want to hang your t-shirts? If so, it's important to choose the right hangars. Use velvet or padded hangers to prevent stretching. Avoid wire hangers, which can create those dreaded shoulder dimples over time.Storage Tip: If drawer space is limited, use shelf dividers or storage bins to keep stacks organized and prevent them from toppling over.Sweatshirts: Fold to Save Space (But Hanging Can Work Too)Sweatshirts are much bulkier than t-shirts and should generally be folded rather than hung to prevent stretching the shoulders out of shape. The thicker material of sweatshirts makes them ideal for stacking. However, in some cases, hanging can be a practical option as well. Here's what to consider:Flat Fold: Lay the sweatshirt flat, fold the arms inward, and then fold the body in half or thirds for a neat pile.Hanging Option: If you wear a sweatshirt frequently and prefer easy access, hanging on a sturdy, wide-shouldered hanger can help to maintain its shape without causing stress on the fabric.Storage Tip: Stack sweatshirts on shelves or in storage bins to avoid overcrowding drawers. If space allows, roll them to prevent creases and make them easier to grab (more on this option below).Hoodies: Fold to Preserve Shape (But Hanging is Possible)Hoodies should generally be folded rather than hung. Their heavy fabric and the added weight of the hood can stretch the shoulder seams and distort the fit if left on a hanger for too long. Some people like to hang hoodies because it makes them easier to see. So under certain conditions, hanging might be a good option (but there are a few things to know):Hood-Tuck Fold: Lay the hoodie flat, fold the sleeves inward, tuck the hood into the body, and fold into a compact square.Drawer-Friendly Fold: If storing in a drawer, roll the hoodie after folding to save space and minimize wrinkles.Hanging Option: If you prefer to hang hoodies, use thick, padded hangers to support the weight and prevent stretching. Lightweight hoodies made of thinner materials or performance fabrics are less likely to deform and may hang well.Storage Tip: If hanging, fasten any zippers or drawstrings to help the hoodie maintain its shape. Avoid thin hangers, which can create dents in the shoulders and can crack under the weight of the hoodie over time.Rolling: A Space-Saving AlternativeEver roll your clothes when packing? Rolling can be an excellent alternative to folding t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies at home, especially if you have limited drawer or shelf space. This method works particularly well for t-shirts and sweatshirts but can also be used for hoodies with proper technique. For T-Shirts: Rolling t-shirts allows for easy visibility in a drawer, prevents deep creases, and makes the most of available space. For Sweatshirts: Rolling can be helpful for thinner sweatshirts, keeping them compact while reducing folds and wrinkles. For Hoodies: If drawer storage is preferred, roll hoodies tightly after tucking in the hood to minimize bulk.Storage Tip: Store rolled items in a bin or drawer organizer to keep them neatly arranged and prevent them from unraveling.Final ThoughtsFor most casual wear, including t-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies, folding is the best way to store them to preserve their shape, prevent stretching and optimize storage space. However, high-quality cotton t-shirts may be hung if the right type of hanger is used. Additionally, lightweight hoodies and frequently worn sweatshirts can be hung with proper support to maintain accessibility without causing damage. Rolling is another efficient storage method that saves space, reduces wrinkles, and improves organization. Consider your available space, frequency of use, and preferred organizational style when choosing your storage method. With a little planning, you can keep your cherished t-shirt, sweatshirt and hoodie collections tidy, accessible and in excellent condition.Shop at 1923 Main StreetThank you for listening to the Disney Travel Style Podcast at 1923MainStreet.com.Shop unique and original Disney-inspired clothing, including t-shirts, sweatshirt, hoodies, dresses, swimwear and more at 1923 Main Street.Follow along on X, Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook.Thank you for listening and have a magical day!Mike Belobradic and Amelia Belobradic--Media provided by Jamendo

Country music is often referred to as the quintessential American music – and yet the contributions and influences of Black Americans is often erased and ignored. A prime example: Members of the Carter family were among country music's first big stars, producing some of the earliest commercial recordings in the 1920s. While the Carters are celebrated to this day, few know the name of Lesley Riddle, a Black musician who was instrumental in developing the Carter sound. Even the banjo – an instrument most associated with Appalachia where A.P. Carter and Lesley Riddle researched folk music – has had its African roots neglected over time. The rich cultural legacy of this American genre is only recently getting reexamined as African Americans and other communities of color are telling their own stories and histories of contribution to the origins of country music. As Houston's own Beyoncé drops her most recent album, “Cowboy Carter”, some are saying that an artist mostly linked to R&B and hip-hop has no business on the country charts or airwaves. But the owners of a new music enterprise in Houston would respectfully disagree as they live the country life right here in Space City. Join us as I SEE U's Eddie Robinson chats with the founders of LaChachere Music Group (LMG), a premiere country music entertainment company based in Houston and Nashville. Owners Dennis Chachere and Ahsaki LaFrance-Chachere stop by our Third Ward studios — just blocks away from Queen Bey's childhood home. We'll dive deep into why there remains tension in country music spaces when Black artists desire the spotlight — a notion Beyoncé modestly referred to in a recent Instagram post. Plus, LMG artist, singer-songwriter Caleb James, breaks out his guitar and offers up powerful vocals reminiscent of Charley Pride in an exclusive, live in-studio performance of his latest single, “Just a Few Things.”

Comedian Rory Scovel has never really known what he was going to say when he walked onto the stand-up stage. But that all changed when he decided—20 years into his career—to finally do the “homework” of actually writing a complete and cohesive hour. The result is his new special, ‘Religion, Sex and a Few Things in Between,' which Scovel describes as the “tightest” set of material he's ever produced (and is streaming now on Max). In his return to the podcast for this bonus episode, Scovel discusses how this new approach changed his experience on stage, how he still strives to stay ultra-present in his work and why he has decided to lean into politics (with an eye on George Carlin) for his next act. Blackbox is a marketing agency that has worked with Andra Day, JP Saxe, Best Coast, Christina Perri, Dirty Honey, Jesse McCartney. They even worked on Kid Rock's faux Senate run. With JP Saxe specifically, they worked with him before his record and publishing deal and when he was completely independent. They helped take one of his first songs, "The Few Things," to over 20 million streams. They also helped Andra Day to acquire more than 250,000 social media fans. Brian and Livia break down their process, what they do, and how they help an artist tell their story effectively. They also give some really great strategies on how to tell that story. GRAMMY® Award-nominated singer, songwriter and musician from Toronto, JP Saxe always finds a way to cut beyond the surface, tapping into a deep connectivity with universal emotion and human experience. This was proven on his beloved 2018 single, “The Few Things” which led to his first headlining tour and a label deal with Arista Records/Sony Music Entertainment. In October 2019, JP released an emotionally rich duet with Julia Michaels, produced by FINNEAS, titled “If The World Was Ending,” which has been nominated for Song of the Year at the upcoming 63rd annual GRAMMY® Awards. The track garnered praise from artists such as Shawn Mendes, Gwen Stefani, Alessia Cara, Lewis Capaldi, Sam Smith, Demi Lovato and more. JP and Julia performed the track together on NBC's The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in November 2019. Idolator praised the song for packing a ‘strong emotional punch' whereas PEOPLE Magazine called it a “beautifully stripped back piano ballad.” The song currently has over one billion streams, over 120 million views on YouTube, landed on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and is certified platinum in the U.S., and is 4x platinum in Canada.
JP Saxe wrote the song “If the World was Ending” with acclaimed songwriter Julia Michaels in 2019 about a fictional cataclysm. The record was released in the before times in a way that seemed to presage lockdown. In the early months of the actual pandemic the song resonated so widely that it catapulted up the charts. It’s now been nominated for a Grammy for song of the year — an award JP Saxe could share with his grandfather János Starker who was awarded a Grammy in 1997 for a recording of Bach’s cello suites. We wanted to speak with JP not just because of the song's success, but also because he has a way of thinking about the practical implications and even morality of songwriting in this track as well as his song "Line By Line" with Maren Morris. Claire and Erica are the founders of Of A Kind and the authors of Work Wife. They met in college at the University of Chicago and quickly connected over their love of fashion and discovery. 9 years ago they founded their company Of A Kind which combined the two passions that brought them together. They feature various artisans and designers and their one of a kind creations on their e-commerce platform Of A Kind. They bet big on content and invested in Tumblr, something no one else was doing at the time which got them the traction they needed to build a healthy business they eventually sold to Bed Bath & Beyond, who gave them the financial means to expand to other growth categories. They decided to write their book, Work Wife, about the importance and role their friendship played in their ability to build a scalable business. They also interview other Work Wives about the importance of maintaining friendships and professional relationships. Claire and Erica speak with first-hand knowledge about the necessity for vulnerability in the workplace and the role camaraderie plays in both effectiveness and productivity. Their story is the stuff of dreams for co-founders everywhere. Check them out on Instagram @clairemazur and @ericacerulo. You can shop Of A Kind online at ofakind.com or on Instagram @ofakind. Their book is available for purchase on Amazon and their podcast, A Few Things, is available on Apple Podcasts and online.

In this episode of Lean the F*ck Out, we talk with Erica Cerulo and Claire Mazur talk about building a business with a friend. Erica and Claire talk about their successful online store, Of A Kind, and their recently released book Work Wife: The Power of Female Friendship to Drive Successful Businesses. We discuss the many different ways partnering with a friend can make your business successful and how you can find the right friend to partner with, among other amazing tips from these friends who have kicked ass in their own business. Building a Business with a Friend Episode Highlights: Vulnerability and transparency is key to a strong partnership. When you start a business it becomes all encompassing to your life. What to look for and think about in a friend who could be a good partner: trust and respect in your relationship. similar work ethic and similarly high standards. Learning to fight/have constructive disagreements early on is really productive for any partnership. Get comfortable with conflict – the more you practice the easier it is. How to spot potential red flags in the friendship that should not become a partnership: If your friend is someone it is hard to plan something small with, they will likely be someone you can’t plan a business with. Go on a stressful trip together - see how people respond to difficult situations. Not every friend would make a good partner, be aware of red flags. Because of the history of workplace culture, we’ve only seen a patriarchal structure. The way women work is different. It is important to be passionate about it the business you are about to build. Trust your gut. If you made the rules behind your company, you can break those rules. Be open to evolving. You don’t have to know everything before you start your business. You will learn along the way, and there is always someone willing to help. Meet Erica Cerulo and Claire Mazur founders of fashion and design site, Of A Kind, authors of Work Wife, and women who are disrupting the power of female friendships. It’s true that Claire and Erica have been joined at the hip since their college days in Chicago and now as they run Of a Kind in New York City. It’s true that Claire and Erica host a hilarious weekly podcast called A Few Things. And it’s also very true that Claire and Erica are a prime example of a female power couple, I mean work wives, who are disrupting how the power of female friendships can drive successful businesses. For too long the stereotype has been that women are catty, emotional, and are too busy competing with each other to build successful businesses. That’s complete BS. You know it and I know it. In fact, you’re probably thinking about your own work wife right now and nodding your head because you know your work is better and you’re more fulfilled at work because of her support, not in spite of her. On this episode, you'll learn: How Claire and Erica built a successful company that they sold to Bed Bath and Beyond in 2015 The new foundation of the workplace that’s being redesigned by female power couples How you can find and support your own work wife Show Notes: 28-Day Career Kickstart Career Contessa Instagram OfaKind.comA Few Things PodcastWork Wife Christine Hassler, The Femails, Season One

This is not a “financial advice episode” but an encouragement episode. We are not going to tell you how to make money or start a business, but get to the heart of the matter. Today I have my very favorite guest with me–my hubby, Steve! We have been a one-income family since early on in our marriage and I wanted to share our story to encourage others that it is possible to survive and THRIVE as a one-income family. We were married right out of college, had a baby that first year, lost three jobs, had four kids, and homeschooled- all while remaining a one-income family. God has truly provided for our needs when we sought Him first. We are not saying our way is the right way to do things (only God can tell you what is right for your family) but we are sharing how we have managed to listen to God above society’s standards for the past 17 years. God has given Steve a thriving business as our sole provider and has even provided opportunities for me to contribute along the way. A simple lifestyle with our eyes on God has made all the difference. A Few Things to Mention: We use Samaritans Ministries for Healthcare Coverage Steve is the sole provider of our family with his business, Farmhaus Studios. He is a graphic designer who worked in the advertising field for many years before the instability of it all led us to start a family business and become self-employed. He now is able to use his talents in all areas of media- illustration, web, marketing, etc. And he is able to let God “run” his business
