Aoife Quinn is a working artist hell bent on trying to carve out useful ways we can navigate life with a positive mindset. "LSAD Duck Tales" is a social experiment addressing her generation's obsession with trying to appear unique. At a DNA level we are 99.9% the same. Through creating a generation of influencers, social media has enabled ordinary people attain celebrity status, creating a climate of unrealistic expectations for many. Ordinary people now believe they need to become someone. Instagram has become a platform where we scrutinize others, but also ourselves. Is being oneself with innate subtle differences no longer enough? Aoife created a series of 100 porcelain ducks, which have been distributed to people who have influenced her life. Initially identical, their diverse experiences are documented on a dedicated Instagram account. Through observing their encounters, how and if their exterior changes, Aoife is questioning if it is our life experiences rather than our personas that make us unique. @LSADucktales provides an opportunity to organically explore and celebrate our day to day lives, finding appreciation in the ordinary. Conor Creighton is a meditation teacher, a spiritual guide, & author…but in his own words “hasn't always been so chill” Before he learned to meditate he worked as bartender, & a reporter for the Guardian & for Vice Magazine covering warzones, drug culture & the rise of the far-right. In this episode I'm joined by my peer Adrian Hart, also known as “the sober PT”. A recovering alcoholic, Adrian drank for 10 years & at the time of this podcast going live he is 9months (& two weeks!) sober. He has taken responsibility for his own life, his health, & happiness, & through doing this has changed the entire trajectory of his life for the better. I had the privilege of chatting with Dr Darragh Stewart (Phd), Inwardbound Co-Founder & Scientific Lead Facilitator, to pick his brain about all things psychedelics… including the positive effects & benefits of plant medicine for HEALING from pain, suffering & trauma, & exploring consciousness and the mind through the new science of Psychedelics & Trauma Therapy. As a scientist, Darragh is keen to cut through faux spirituality & is interested in bridging the gap between science & spirituality. Having had such a positive healing journey of his own after dealing with his own trauma and upheaval with the use of Psychedelics among other therapies and practices, he is now passionate about helping others who may also benefit from the emerging science of psychedelics by holding the retreats and collecting scientific data. He has worked with hundreds of people through their psilocybin sessions and is currently writing a paper on the effects of Psilocybin on mental health. Pam Sherman (known by her friends and family as Positive Pam) was a fitness instructor and trainer for 20 years, while also raising her two kids who are now 23 and 20 years old. Exercise has always been important to her, running from age 11 because her dad was a recreational runner and she thought it'd be fun to join him. It served as a huge stress reliever from a home that was filled with trauma. Four years ago Pam went out for a run as normal, and her life took a turn that could never have been foreseen. The first controllable variable in terms of your health & fitness that I'm going to talk about is TRAINING. We all know that if you want to build bigger biceps or an elusive six pack, strength training is a pretty essential component for making it happen. But even if maxing out your muscle size isn't your objective, strength training is one of the best ways to hit your health, fitness & physique goals. In my opinion, every single person on this planet should partake in SOME form of regular resistance training - and you WILL benefit from it. A HUGELY common misconception lot of people still believe is that if you don't want to look like a bodybuilder or a bikini model, you shouldn't perform resistance training… so as a result end up leaning towards solely aerobic/cardio exercise – and then they wonder why you're having trouble making significant improvements in your health or towards your physique goals.
