More often than not on this podcast, we have the privilege of listening to and learning from health, wellness, biohacking, longevity experts talk about the latest research, health hacks, books, projects, conferences, stories/anecdotes, clinical experience, etc. And there is so much to glean from those episodes and practical applications for your own wellness regimens. Today's episode with former NFL player, Landon Cohen, provides a very well-rounded conversation on health and wellness from a very unique perspective and from someone that was literally in the trenches as a pro football player.While Landon is a wildly successful entrepreneur today, which is a grind in its own right, his days as an NFL defensive lineman (and, of course, the years and year of collegiate and high school football) took a major toll on his body and, even more so, his mind and brain. This is secondary to the perpetual banging of pads and helmets every single play between the offensive and defensive lineman. Being drafted in 2008, Landon played in an era where the repercussions of concussions was not yet on the radar in football. Fast forward to early last year, Landon was recommended by a friend to try some BioBlue and red light therapy to see if it would help with his post-NFL body and mind. According to Landon, BioBlue played a major role in regaining his sharp mind and cognition/focus, while the red light therapy (combined with the BioBlue) helped reduce so lingering aches and pains. Needless to say, he is a massive advocate of both modalities. Today's guest on The Red Light Report has been a long time coming and a conversation that I have been candidly been looking forward to. In this Quantum Field Report I just started filming because I felt like sharing and I decided to see where my talking would lead. I got into the discussion of what it means to live a good life and that this has been my general pursuit for several years now; more specifically, to live the best life that I possibly can. Of course, to do so requires defining what a good life is as a whole. What does this mean? Is it subjective, a matter of opinion, or objective, a matter of fact? Many people will have different opinions about this, but I believe that living a good life is more objectively related to keeping our energy and awareness in our higher energy centers and aware of ourselves as the detached observer, based on everything I've been learning recently about spirituality. So, in a sense, a good life could manifest in many different forms of course, but I'm coming to believe that it is possible to find formula at a base level for creating the circumstances for a "good life”. If it was all a matter of opinion and not scientific, then achieving a good life would be just like a wild rabbit chase. I don't believe this is true, I do believe there is a path that we can walk down that many people have walked down before, which is the basis for what we would call a "good life” or, better, an “enlightened” or “realized” life. In this episode I share my thinking and background thoughts and experiences that led me to these ideas and conclusions, including the fact that building a business as I have has given me virtually unlimited freedom, which really has led me to realize that life is a completely blank slate from which we can create anything, and it's forced me to ask the question: “what the heck are we doing here?”, as well as “who are we?”, “who am I?”, "What is the nature of this experience?” Tune in and check it out! In this episode, I share something that I have been looking into a lot recently which is bitcoin. At first I didn't understand bitcoin, but as I put the pieces together with all of my thinking about money and business over the last many years, I came to understand that bitcoin is far more than just a catchy name and get rich quick scheme as some people think. Digital currency is the future of all money. Just as the Internet has taken over, it is bound to as well. On today's quantum field report I get into a subject that I have been considering for a long time now. This is a subject that is very important to consider for anyone who is interested in healing. Typically when we feel uncomfortable or some unpleasant emotion, we point our fingers outside and say that it's because of something outside of us. In reality, all of the world is occurring within our head, so there is some lack of something within us that this external perception is activating. Trying to change the world outside of us to project our limitations onto the world will never solve the true problem, which is the internal limitation. In fact, the world outside will shift to reflect that limitation, but because we cannot change everything by forcing it, the limitation still exists and we will still feel the exact same feeling we felt, and try to find more people or circumstances to project that limitation onto. In fact, when I first started my business, this is exactly what I was doing; I grew up with circumstances that caused me to feel a lot of fear and discomfort around finances and money, and I actually perpetuated that with my business in my own life. Just like everything else, business is something external that takes whatever meaning we give it: it can be the greatest opportunity eve, or it can feel like a massive stressful burden, and in my case for a long time it was more of the latter. Thankfully, because of the lessons that I'm sharing in this quantum field report, it changed to be more of the former over the past year. I don't claim to have all the answers; I'm just sharing what I have learned from my experiences. I also don't claim to be right about anything. Just to be clear, I love to listen to music, to sing, and to enjoy life's beautiful joys and pleasures. In this quantum field report, I begin by discussing how people who find that they cannot sit in a car by themselves quietly for hours (like a meditation), or constantly need to listen to music, or need any other sort of external source of pleasure to feel good, may find that their mind is filled with thoughts and beliefs that they cannot stand to just be with. I've been like this for much of my life and am working on growing, always. In this quantum field report I share some thoughts that I have been having about how I can both maximize my focus on my contribution and creativity while at the same time traveling and exploring the world; basically, how I can “have my cake and eat it too”, as the saying goes. I share some insight from an article that I recently read about Ernest Hemingway's morning routine that really inspired me, and may inspire you, too. Welcome to this weeks episode of Health & Fitness Friday on The Essential Strength Podcast! This is your bite-sized podcast designed to make you a little smarter and a little stronger heading into the weekend!This week we're talking about the concept of Social Jetlag and whether or not Blue Light blocking glasses actually work to help improve sleep and recovery and prevent this new form of jet lag we are likely all suffering from to one degree or another. Today's podcast is inspired by a recent research review from Tailored Coaching MethodSo, what is social jet lag? It's a newer term used to explain the issues that arise when our social clock - our normal times of socialization, work, school, etc. - gets increasingly out of sync without biological or circadian clock which controls hormone release, helps os wake up and wind down, etc. Overall, the research on Blue Light Blocking glasses is split - some studies show an effect, some don't. This research roundup cited a 2017 systematic review that found there is a lack of high quality evidence for a benefit from blue light blocking glasses on sleep quality, visual performance or eye fatigue.What do we do with this information? Well, it seems to me that this is similar to the impact of dietary supplements. Is there potential for a positive impact -yes? Do there appear to be negative consequences when used conservatively - no. Are we better off simply shutting down our screens 2-3 hours before going to bed - absolutely. Sometimes the hard way is the right way, and no product or short cut will ever be as good.
