    Educational Renaissance w/ Tiffany Gilmore

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 30, 2025 50:29

Superintendent Tiffany Gilmore is creating the world she wishes to live in. She disrupted her mainstream educational experience by creating her own school. Garvey Allen Academy is a school that prepares young people for real life, on a very transparent level in which the students have a voice too. They're allowed to ask why, and the approach transcends the copy/paste of the mainstream education system. Being part of the mainstream education system as a teacher and as an administrator, Tiffany Gilmore knew it wasn't it for her. Forcing children into one way of doing things never felt good, and being the enforcer for the "how" was a one last straw moment for her. Tiffany and Amy explore soul callings, sharing how Tiffany was able to chart her own path and open up a school in STEAM for young kids - to get their buy in on their own education and sharing the 'why' behind our societal expectations. This approach allows for individual attunement rather than a broad brush to allow for the unique brilliance to shine through. Follow Tiffany on Instagram, as well as Garvey Allen Academy, and support the school by visiting https://www.garveyallenacademy.com/.Thank you for tuning in to Women Making Moves, please be sure to rate and subscribe to the show on your favorite platform, and follow on Bluesky. Sherolde Hackett is a multifaceted healer bringing together all women, and particularly BIPOC women together in R.O.O.T.E.D. to Rise, a structured method to address both lived experience as well as the experience from ancestors into the current day reality. This conversation delves deep that before the "how" to tap into the collective consciousness and to assist in healing it, one must understand their own self and that everything externally is a vision of one's self. We all came here to this exact space and time to feel and to heal the collective consciousness - and it's not easy because much of what we are being called to witness may not make sense, or worse cause personal pain as the collective moves through. The "how" during any turbulence is to turn inward first - how do you feel, before even stepping one cell outside of your personal energy - to assess what you may have capacity for within the collective. Nothing is happening by coincidence, and if you can understand or accept that by any degree - or simply just curious about it, that's the part of you asking to be excavated. It's not just about the story, it's about listening and caring for those that have a story to tell. That's Tamra.Tamra set out to create a "simple" 2 hour documentary that would become a 3 part series, a federal case, a multi-charge indictment called 'Surviving R. Kelly'. The amount of women coming forward to share their experience kept coming as more women gathered in Tamra's community leading to the 3 part - and now we know, a case study to build the federal case. Tamra and Amy talk about following their soul and their spirit which leads to everlasting glimmers through the pain of "humaning" - that is, we call in what our soul desires. Sunshine shares her story, and briefly touches on reconnecting organically with her biological mom knowing and trusting that her spirit guides and ancestors played a role in bringing them together - she's saving that for a book. The time to come together and restore humanity, to create the balance we've never seen in this lifetime and return everyone to themselves is Sunshine's mission - with light and love, and shadow work, do you work so that you can come together in community to make the impact you were always destined to make. Heather Wallander is starting a revolution...like many of us, she endured workplace psychological abuse, discrimination, and retaliation. She recently went viral with her story and is on the other side fighting hard to drive the change we're wishing to see. The thing about workplace abuse is that it is so rampant, so commonplace, that it's often ignored or not even realized. Further, if you do realize it, then come the NDA's, the arbitration, the severances...Heather is on a mission to ensure you have all of the information both heading into the fight or heading out of the organization. Where this all begins and ends is of course with leadership, while every person in an organization builds a company's culture, the power resides at the top - so any leadership wishing to know more because either you're aware of a toxic leak in your org or, you're wanting to perform a wellness check, get a hold of Heather. Visit Heather's company at https://brioedge.com/ and learn about arbitration and join the revolt at https://www.arbitrationrevolt.com/. Heather welcomes questions, conversations, etc. on LinkedIn as well. Thank you for tuning into Women Making Moves! Kanwal Haq is on a mission, she is a medical anthropologist and brilliant researcher on a quest to bring true health equity to all women. Gone will be the days when women aren't believed by their healthcare provider by anchoring in the belief that knowledge is power. Kanwal's book, "Taking Care of You" is the go to for common conditions women are facing, the ones we don't learn about in school, the non-reproductive issues that are common killers that we don't know or hear about. Kanwal and her team don't just dwell on what we don't know, she moves through to getting answers and to shift the narrative from the problem, to the solution - the action toward what we're doing about changing the healthcare system to be inclusive toward all humans, and she is rooted in facts and research within the scientific, but also the humanities community. A trained doula, she is focused on creating the best possible outcomes for women and to understand what is actually going on in our bodies. Buy the book, "Taking Care of You" here - think of it as a women's healthcare guide or encyclopedia that includes both lived experience and of course research from experts.
