The Oveja Negra Brands booth at the Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show was bustling with activity in 2025, as always. While our interview couldn't capture all the excitement happening there, it was anything but slow. A major highlight is that Black Works Studio is celebrating its tenth anniversary with a series of special releases. Additionally, Black Label Trading Company and Emilio are introducing new offerings as well. Another significant development that occurred after the Trade Show is that Apostate Cigars will be joining the Oveja Negra family in June. Lastly, during the 2024 awards season, Oveja Negra Brands emerged as a major winner in the Cigar Coop Coalition. Full PCA Report: https://wp.me/p6h1n1-wMM

The wallpapering technique is a key protocol for extending the function of endodontically treated teeth. More brittle due to their reduced hydration, non-vital teeth are more prone to fracture, so using fiber in this way creates a fail-safe that prevents failure beneath the coronal portion of the tooth and reinfection of the root.Dr. David Alleman discusses how he helped pioneer this technique and other advancements in adhesive dentistry for cases with non-vital teeth in his Six Lessons Approach to Biomimetic Restorative Dentistry.Articles referenced in this episode:Deliperi S, Alleman D, Rudo D. Dr. David Alleman first created his Six Lessons Approach for vital teeth, but the same conservative principles can benefit endodontically treated teeth too. Compared to traditional techniques for retention and bonding, the advanced adhesive and stress-reducing techniques of biomimetic dentistry are better suited for treating non-vital teeth, which are more brittle and susceptible to cracking than fully hydrated teeth with healthy pulps. This episode outlines how biomimetic techniques approach endodontically treated teeth differently and the research that supports these protocols.Articles referenced in this episode:Kishen A., Vedantam S. We may or may not be able to agree (as a society) that we're in late stage capitalism and the masses are being harmed by this structure in society AND be able to remember that money itself is not innately bad - it's an energetic exchange. What turns sticky and icky is that humans then use money to exert power over one another, this is where Jeni and I discuss how to manage a modern day, heart-led business while still being asked to operate in a capitalist world. The beauty of being a heart-led business owner? To understand the energetics and love that money is for you, and uniquely what you bring to the world. Being in relationship and congruency to what you are calling in is something that is not only possible, but that Jeni helps you to unleash, to finally break out of the multi decade patterns that capitalism has taught us. Money loves you and wants to see you succeed. Find Jeni on Substack, LinkedIn, or visit her website. Her floral business, Frida's Flowers, named after THE Frida Kahlo - what better way to honor the journey than toward one of the great Latina feminists!Maddie and I get into extremely interesting conversation that includes the synchronicities of our hurtful journeys that led to our heartled work to lead humanity into a higher vibration, to restore the balance with the divine feminine as we're being called. Maddie and I also touch on the worldwide genocide based on a recent post she re-shared (Dr. Autumn Blackdeer) as we navigate the invitation for everyone to go inward, to see what comes up in their physical bodies to be able to do the work to heal and to be open. Welcome to a special live episode of Writer Mother Monster, a community and conversation series devoted to dismantling the myth of having it all and offering writer-moms solidarity, support, and advice. The show is typically streamed live on Facebook and YouTube, and then released as an audio podcast on all major platforms--but today's episode is in-person at the 2023 CT Lit Fest, hosted at Real Art Ways in Hartford, Connecticut.Today's guest, Dr. Janet Garcia-Hallett, is a criminal justice professor at the University of New Haven's Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences. She earned her PhD in criminal justice from Rutgers University-Newark in 2017. From 2017 to 2021, she worked as a criminal justice professor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. At this point, during the pandemic, Janet made the decision to move back to the East Coast to be closer to family and a support network. As an Afro-Latina mother, Janet has maintained a personal interest in mothers' experiences before, during, and after incarceration. Her non-fiction book, INVISIBLE MOTHERS: UNSEEN YET HYPERVISIBLE AFTER INCARCERATION is based on interviews she conducted throughout New York City with formerly incarcerated mothers of color. Her book shares mothers' stories and explores how mothers of color navigate motherhood post-incarceration. Although Janet was first drawn to this work due to her upbringing in Harlem, she continues to study the impact of the criminal legal system and advocate for communities of color. Janet has 3 children ages 7, 4, and 2,, and she describes writer-motherhood in 3 words as Versatile, Determine, Badass.A special thanks to our sponsors and patrons listed on the Writer Mother Monster website. Based on the analysis we have done across various races in India, a surprising 80% of the runners take up distance running after they are in their mid-30s. One of the challenges however is no formal coaching, this is either because of an intentional choice, or lack of access to coaches, or many times life priorities wouldn't leave enough time to work with a coach. In this episode, we'll explore how to get the best out of us, as we self-coach as recreational runners. In this episode we discussed: + Best practices to approach self-coaching + Setting realistic goals + Creating a training plan that fits our needs + Tracking progress and making adjustments as needed + Staying motivated Madhukar BK Madhukar has run 18 marathons many more half-marathon and 10K distances. He is currently preparing for his final WMM which is the upcoming New York City marathon due this November. His best time for a 10K is 41:51, Half Marathon is 1:32:11 and for the marathon it is 3:18:52. He has achieved the coveted BQ in the past 2 qualifying windows. He is an active member of Soles of Bangalore, a leading running group based in Bangalore. Apart from running he works with an IT firm in Bangalore and lives with his wife and 2 sons. Meet the incredible Joe Drake. Like Shalane, Joe, at age 60, crossed the NYC Marathon finish line after completing his fifth World Marathon Major (plus a virtual Tokyo) in seven weeks. Joe decided to pursue this goal because (not in spite of) of his Parkinson's Disease. Joe shares how his diagnosis in 2018 transformed him from an “everyday runner” to a marathoner and a Boston Qualifier. After all of the World Marathon Majors (minus Tokyo which was virtual) were scheduled for the fall of 2021 (thanks, Covid), Joe decided to tackle the challenge of running all six races in seven weeks. Joe not only managed to enter, travel, and run all six marathons, but he also raised over $35,000 for Team Fox, which is dedicated to finding a cure for Parkinson's disease. In this episode, Joe shares the logistics, training and racing strategy behind his unbelievable accomplishment and reminds us all that our running is so much more about the journey and not race times. An interview with Wendy McLeod MacKnight, author of three books for middle-grade readers, who shares her habit of drafting quickly and revising painstakingly, her advice on getting to know your characters before you write them, and her delighted surprise at discovering Voldemort under Quirrell's turban. 20 minutes. All ages. A full transcript is available at CabinTales.ca. Show Notes [0:00] Intro [1:15] Interview with Wendy McLeod MacKnight CA: Do you ever do object studies, either as an exercise or has an object ever figured in one of your books? WMM: Oh yeah for sure…Probably my most intense was when I was writing about the paintings at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery … The idea was what would it be like to be stuck in the painting, you can't get out, and then what if you made a friend who has not the greatest home life and is an artist, and wishes they could get into the paintings because wouldn't life be easier. He can't get in; she can never get out…. that's one of the things that I recommend is to really drill down into the character's internal and external struggle through it all. … [3:50] CA: Do you have any favorite plot twists? WMM: … I really enjoyed the moment when I discovered that Voldemort was up in Quirrell's turban… The very ending of The Frame Up solves a problem between my two main characters perfectly. …people have come to me since then and said, “I did not see that coming.” …That's so great. [5:00] CA: … How do you feel about sad endings or endings where the good guy loses? … WMM: …. I think that in middle grade, even if it's sad there has to be hope. … I think though, once you get into YA, then I think you've got a lot more flexibility. … When I read too many books like that, I usually need like a palate cleanser, like give me something funny. …. But I think that we do kids a disservice when things are too easy and don't cause pain, you know. [6:40] CA: Will you stick with middle grade? WMM: … I'm obsessed with middle grade. … the books that I read when I was in middle grade are still the books I find great comfort in now as an adult. … And they're the books that you're picking out…. And you have to see yourself in them… I think that even that's part of the reason why the first few books I've written, I set in New Brunswick. … [8:15] CA: Do you have any favorite settings from other people's fiction? WMM: … I love really amazing worldbuilding. So, like Phillip Pullman's worldbuilding in The Golden Compass … I could live in anything that was kind of Dickensian. … you also have to be really careful, especially when you're writing for kids, to not get bogged down in so much minutia that they get bogged down with you. … I really love books set in Canada. … [9:25] CA: And do you have any favorite fictional characters? WMM: Oh yeah. For sure Meg Murry from A Wrinkle in Time. … Anne of Green Gables and Emily of New Moon. I love David Copperfield…The main character in The War that changed my Life by Kim Brubaker Bradley, that character stayed with me for so long. [10:00] CA: And are there any setting or character exercises that you would recommend to young writers? WMM: I always tell them that they need to interview their main characters…. And I do that a lot with settings too. … the more you can know your characters and the more you can know the place before you start… [11:50] CA:. While you're drafting, do you do self-editing or do you just let it out? WMM: I get it all out. So I always have to remind myself that it's probably going to take me 8 drafts and I just don't, I'm not going to worry about it anymore. … Sometimes at the end of the book it's, like somebody wrote this book and I don't know who it was. …. There are moments when the characters on your page sometimes feel more alive than the people that are around you. … that's the magic. [14:00] CA: So you've said you spend a lot more time revising than drafting. WMM: …I write full time, so I could get a first draft done within probably six weeks. If it's you know, if it's anywhere between 50 and 80,000 I can probably get that. Like usually when I'm really into writing, I'm writing like 2500 to 3000 words a day. But it's also, they're not good words. It's just getting it all out, right? So very fast first drafts, very very very slow revisions. [14:35] CA: And do you have a favorite POV to write from? WMM: I love first person. … The Frame Up, I have dual points of view…. I think third person gives you more freedom. … I don't think I could ever write second person. … [15:30] CA: And have you ever written an unreliable narrator? WMM: Not in the typical sense of an unreliable narrator. …. I think that would be fabulous. I have been toying with that, so that may be something in the future. [16:10] CA: And you have written about siblings. WMM: Yes. It's a Mystery Pig-Face! is about a brother and sister… and I do not espouse, by the way, name-calling -- but I did use it in this particular story because my brother, when we were kids, used to just torture me. … I think I'm in almost all of my books in some way. … I think there's probably a bit of me in some of the parents as well. … [17:40] CA: And what do you think is scarier: humans or monsters? WMM: Humans… we have a lot of people who are very damaged. … Certainly in my old job and things that I saw -- I would rather take my chance with a monster. … I do feel that most people are redeemable. And the human monsters I met are almost always products of situations where they needed people when they were very young and they didn't have those people. And that's probably the same with most of the monsters too, right? If they had a really great monster mom and dad or a really good monster friend… [18:40] CA: Did you tell stories around a campfire as a kid? WMM: I did. … Like you'd be on some overnight trip and you'd all be trying to freak each other out, to terrify each other before you went off to your tents… I was usually more on the receiving end of the terror though, because I am such a scaredy cat. … [20:00] CA: Do you have a favorite scary movie or scary story? WMM: In terms of scary books, I thought Jonathan Auxier's The Night Gardener was so creepy… And in terms of movies, I'm going to go really old school… The Exorcist. …I'm going to have to watch something funny before I go to bed tonight, just thinking about it…. [20:30] CA: Do you collect anything? WMM: … I've always collected rocks. … And if I ever see anything while I'm out about The Wizard of Oz… because I love that movie so much. [21:40] Wendy McLeod MacKnight introduces herself WMM: I'm Wendy MacLeod McKnight. I am the author of three middle-grade novels: It's a Mystery, Pig-Face!, The Frame Up, and The Copycat. The Frame Up has been published in Taiwan and is currently being translated into French and is going to be published in French in the next year. I love middle-grade fiction so much. That's the way it works with the USFS (feds) and ASRA (state) and Placer (county). It's one of many reasons most RDs are not good sleepers. @iRunFar The 2021 Comrades Marathon, originally scheduled for June, is canceled. Endurance News: 2021 Boston Marathon Is Scheduled For October 11; All Six World Marathon Majors to Be Contested in 6-Week Span The B.A.A. announced Tuesday that the 2021 Boston Marathon will take place on Monday, October 11. The race had already been postponed from its traditional spot on the calendar in April and until today remained the only World Marathon Major yet to announce a date for its 2021 edition. The announcement comes with one significant caveat — it will only take place if Massachusetts’ reopening plan allows for road races by the fall. “We announce the 2021 Boston Marathon date with a cautious optimism, understanding full well that we will continue to be guided by science and our continued collaborative work with local, city, state, and public health officials,” B.A.A president and CEO Tom Grilk said in a press release. Boston is the only WMM to be held on a weekday, traditionally taking place on Patriots’ Day — the third Monday in April and a state holiday in Massachusetts. This year’s race will retain the Monday date and will coincide with a national holiday, Columbus Day. With the Chicago Marathon scheduled for October 10, this also means two of the world’s largest marathons will be contested on consecutive days. The most condensed World Major Marathons schedule in history is now set — all six WMM events are slated to be held within a six-week span in the fall. Here’s how it will look (with the Olympics included as well): August 7 – Women’s Olympic Marathon August 8 – Men’s Olympic Marathon September 26: Berlin Marathon October 3: London Marathon October 10: Chicago Marathon October 11: Boston Marathon October 17: Tokyo Marathon November 7: New York City Marathon Endurance Exchange Follow Up The Road to Tokyo 2021: Preparation Expected to be a super hot swim; Tokyo bay; barrier to open water to keep it cleaner and cooler Tokyo venue Olympic marathon is moved way outside Tokyo due to the heat Cooling pools Putting ice water bottles in the bottle cages during the swim. Letting coaches provide bottles on the run 800 meters of the bike and run course that's on the sand. Platform half mile long. Para is a little more condensed. Usually fewer turns. Test event using cooling ice vests; cooling stations on the run; stockings filled with ice cubes. Challenge getting the vests fully frozen. One-on-One with World Champion Katie Zaferes and Tommy! Dynamic of women's racing - attacking on the bike right from the start. "The bike matters." Breakaways are common and you know who they are going to be. Nicole Casteel is a Sound Healer, Vocal Alchemist, and Intuitive Coach. She taps into, creates, and grows space for healing. She shares with us how she came into the sound healing world after being super classically trained in vocalist performance and Opera. This includes discussing the death of her own identity as she searched to find her truth when healing from layered grief and the actual death of her father. Nicole gifts us with her story of how she decided to radically change how she chooses to experience her grief and emotions by practicing energetic hygiene and now teaching breath work, facilitating drum circles, well-ness retreats, virtual sound healing, coaching and much more. We discuss the impacts of trapped grief and trauma in our DNA from our ancestors. This includes briefing relationships with social injustice and racism- that it’s never too late to heal parts of our ancestors and impacts on future generations. She brings inspiration, new insight, and encouragement to better KNOW THY SELF. WMM?E values this and believes in order for us to better support and cope with grief as a community, we must first tend to ourselves. Nicole wrote: " riding the waves of intensity, longing, knowing and then unknowing... the one thing I come back to that is constant -My breath. It is the bridge between my conscious and subconscious mind (where all the healing happens), it is the very first thing I did when I entered this world and the very last thing I will do when I leave (all the layers around death and birth which basically sums up everything). It is the thing I can control and also not control. It opens my heart, where the TRUTH about everything is always hiding, and it connects me. Because we are all in lots of uncertain spaces right now and the breath is the place where we can lean into that and make space for the new things to emerge. It can be as simple as breathing instead of reacting. Right here, right now." Clients have posted "She is channeling medicine that bridges heaven & earth. I was transported to places I didn’t even know I needed to go. Pure magic.” To learn more about her work, how to sign up for your own virtual breath work, sound healing and 1:1 coaching- be sure to check out: https://www.nicolecasteel.com/ or on IG & FB @wildheartresonance Remember, don't hold your grief in- it must be processed or shared in some context, even if alone while spending time grounding on the earth, mindful breathing- and even writing it down and mailing in as part of our "Share Your Grief Story" project. WMM?E co-founder, Andrea, was moved and motivated when meeting Kimberly C Paul last year! She now has the pleasure of sharing KCP's story of going from the set of Saturday Night Live and CBS daytime to telling a very different kind of story. She encourages the country to come together regardless of who we voted for and to start conversations of how we can reclaim our death. During this episode, she shares a glimpse of what ignited her writing her book- Bridging the Gap, Life Lessons of the Dying as well as driving across the country to almost 50 states in her RV decked out with stickers and advertisement alongside her German Shepard, Haven with the goal of marching in Washington, DC to advocate for needed Medicare/Hospice reform as part of her "Live Well to Die Well Tour". She has a well- known TedTalk now taking global steps working with Partner Plus Media providing free educational resources to communities free of charge to hospice agencies- she wants us to stop blaming others, but rather work together and start earlier conversations. How 'bout that London Marathon? That's right! It's the London recap episode where we talk about a handful of other things that happened before London and then talk about the main event! We talked hippo attacks, a $25M college XC course, and a few other things before we dove into London. But get stoked because we have an actual real WMM result to talk about for the first time since Tokyo. PS: We're available on Amazon Music/Audible now if that matters to you!
Wide Mouth Mason brought their storm of blues and funk out of Saskatchewan like a prairie blizzard, and have continued to adapt with the winds that have directed them. In 2000 the group released their highly regarded, Juno nominated album ‘Stew’, which has been the groups funkiest album to date. Safwan Javed of WMM joins the DTP to tell us about ‘Stew’s 20 year anniversary and the road that led to its creation, what Gordie Johnson brought to the table as a producer, and opening for AC/DC. We also discuss the groups 2019 album ‘I Wanna Go With You’ which sees WMM taking on a much more classic blues vibe, so what influenced this decision, how has their stage show changed, and so much more in this episode of the Desert Tiger Podcast.
Remember Wide Mouth Mason? I never forgot 'em - always loved the band, and I listen to them regularly. In November they're celebrating the 20th anniversary of their album Stew by releasing a special version of it on vinyl, and WMM drummer Safwan Javed called into the show to talk to me about it (and of course, the songs that make his skin vibrate). Safwan is an incredible musician and a great dude, and we have some good laughs during our chat. He's got some incredible stories from Wide Mouth Mason's days opening up for The Rolling Stones and ZZ Top - having dinner with Charlie Watts, being invited to Billy Gibbons' house for BBQ and homemade guacamole, and more. And what a playlist! Really enjoyed this chat with Safwan, check it out. Javed's playlist: Marvin Gaye - Inner City Blues Black Uhuru - Anthem Kool Moe Dee - I Go To Work Tinariwen - Cler Achel Amjad Sabri and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan - Rang

Jam-packed full of all the bits you may have missed the Ah Sure Lookit Wasn't That It podcast is your one-stop shop for all things Dermot & Dave. This week Dermot & Dave gave away over three thousand euro to one listener who guessed WMM. Dermot & Dave show team member Sean fell out with Dave over his latest world. While Dave had some bad jokes and Noni also tired to give away some money.
WMM - guess the words, win the cash! It's as simple as that, but since the 4th of March listeners to Dermot & Dave don't seem to be able to crack the riddle. So, this morning on the Dermot & Dave show, Limerick chocolate seller Noni decided she was going to try and give away the money that was on offer. The result was an epic phone call with a listener from Limerick. Hit play on the podcast to hear Noni trying to give away three thousand euro.

In this podcast episode we speak with Tim Hadzima, the Executive Director at Abbott World Marathon Majors, about the six largest marathons in the world and what makes them unique. The Abbott World Marathon Majors The Abbott World Marathon Majors is a series consisting of six of the largest and most renowned marathons in the world. The races take place in Tokyo, Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York City. The purpose of the Abbott World Marathon Majors is to advance the sport, raise awareness of its athletes, and increase the level of interest in elite racing among running enthusiasts. “Each of the six races that make up the Abbott World Marathon Majors boasts an international elite field for both men and women in the open and wheelchair categories, has a mass participatory field completing the same course as the elites, takes place in a major international market, has a history of 25 years or more and is regarded among the very best in the industry. Collectively, the group annually attracts more than 5 million on-course spectators, more than 250 million television viewers, 300,000 applicants and 150,000 participants. It also raises more than $80 million for charity worldwide and generates an economic impact of more than $400 million”. In addition to the five races, two other Qualifying Races were included in the series: the IAAF World Championships Marathon and the Olympic Marathon. We had the chance to speak with Tim Hadzima for this episode. Tim has been the Executive Director at the Abbott World Marathon Majors since 2013. He is also a marathoner himself and based in Chicago.Interesting Facts We Learned from Talking to Tim Hadzima The Tokyo Marathon was not originally part of the Majors. The Chicago Marathon donates the red carpets that cover the bridges. Over 400,000 people enter the lottery for the London Marathon. The New York City Marathon had 52,000+ runners in 2018. The Berlin Marathon has one of the best start lines in the world. The London Marathon has raised 1 billion pounds for charity. The Singapore Marathon is under consideration to become the 7th World Marathon Major. Running is becoming more global. A decade ago there might have been a dozen marathons in China, now there are 1,200-1,300. Eliud Kipchoge, who is highest in the global rankings, is a once-in-a-generation gifted athlete. Elite wheelchair athletes can recover more quickly and most of them do every race or ever other race in the WMM series. If you’ve finished one of the Majors you can claim a star towards a Six Star Medal. Over 4,000 runners have completed all six Majors. There is also a global ranking system for amateur athletes. Experiencing “Phantom Pain” during marathon training. Have you ever found yourself obsessing over little aches and pains as you get closer to race day? Read Angie’s post here.Help us Plant a Tree for the John Muir Trust! Help us plant a MTA Forever Forest in partnership with the John Muir Trust. We’ve set an initial target of planting 262 trees (you will see what we have done there) as part of the Trust’s Wild Woods tree planting appeal during 2019 as they look to significantly increase the number of native trees across the land in their care. Angie visited one of the places where they are planting trees when she walked the slopes of Schiehallion, a few days before she ran the Loch Ness Marathon. By helping us plant the MTA Forever Forest, you’ll be helping the MTA community to create an everlasting feature of the Scottish landscape. Each donation of £10 (about $13 USD) will cover the cost of planting one tree, including staff time and equipment. www.johnmuirtrust.org/MTA Angie with Kevin Lelland of the John Muir Trust The post The World Marathon Majors -The 6 Largest Marathons on Earth appeared first on Marathon Training Academy.

A week ago, I had no idea what meeting and talking to William Michael Morgan would be like. If I had to guess, I'd say that maybe he'd be a little self important, as a rising Country Music star might be. I might even have thought that he would d be in a rush to get done with our interview, especially since he was about to go on for a show. As you probably guessed, those thoughts were totally wrong. From the moment we shook hands, to hanging out in the green room before the show, WMM was every bit the old-soul gentleman you hear in his hit singles “I Met a Girl” and “Missing" off of his album, Vinyl. We talked about music, God, and his decade long journey to where he is today.

We speak to legend of British marathon running, Bill Adcocks (he ran 2:10 in 1968), Jantastic is almost 2/3rds complete. The first WMM of the year was in Tokyo last weekend, Rupp gets beaten in the US Indoor Champs, there's a new record at the English National Cross Country Champs, and women know your place.
