Welcome to the latest edition of the Providence Journal's college basketball podcast. This is Bill Koch, sports writer for the Journal. I'm joined as always by Nick Coit, the sports director at ABC6 and weekend co-host of Cordischi and Coit on WEEI Providence. Providence's men are set to host Villanova in what feels like an NCAA Tournament at-large elimination game (3:25). The Friars and Wildcats are both desperate for an additional quality win or two to burnish their credentials. Brown will host four games this weekend -- two for the men, two for the women -- that could determine Ivy Madness berths (25:20). The Bears men would punch a ticket with two victories. Brown's women could take a major step forward even with a split. Bryant's women have clinched an America East home quarterfinal date after a Thursday win over UMass Lowell (50:50). The Bulldogs are surging to the finish and continue a strong 2023-24 debut under Lynne-Ann Kokoski. The Bulldogs men have dropped three straight and missed a chance to earn one of the top to seeds in America East (61:30). Bryant will host its own quarterfinal next weekend before likely road trips in the next two rounds -- it's the hard way back to March Madness. Thanks as always for listening.

Welcome to the latest edition of the Providence Journal's college basketball podcast. This is Bill Koch, sports writer for the Journal. I'm joined as always by Nick Coit, the sports director at ABC6 and weekend co-host of Cordischi and Coit on WEEI Providence. Providence pulled out a thriller over Georgetown in Ed Cooley's homecoming and fell at Connecticut (4:00). The Friars face a key weekend trip to Villanova as they reach the Big East midpoint. Bryant fell to Vermont in a clash atop America East and bounced back against UMBC (35:00). The Bulldogs remain among the league contenders but have work to do at Maine this weekend. URI snapped its four-game losing streak and surpassed its 2022-23 win total with a victory over La Salle (45:10). The Rams have a chance to be over .500 at the Atlantic 10 midpoint. Brown's men and women face opposite realities this weekend. The Bears men (52:15) are desperate and the Bears women (58:30) can afford to be greedy while battling Penn and Princeton. URI's women have won three straight and might finally be ready to sprint for the conference tournament (64:45). No league opponent would be comfortable facing the Rams at that event if they're firing on all cylinders. Providence's women made some history this week with Grace Efosa (71:15). She's the program's first league Player of the Week since February 2019, and the Friars have exceeded their conference win total from 2022-23. History repeating itself against UMBC wasn't good for the Bryant women (78:40). The Bulldogs lost on a last-second putback and missed a chance to pull even at .500 in America East play. Thanks as always for listening.
Welcome to the latest edition of the Providence Journal/s college basketball podcast. This is Bill Koch, sports writer with the Journal. I'm joined by Nick Coit, the sports director at ABC6 and the weekend co-host of Cordischi and Coit on WEEI Providence. Only one story could lead this edition of the pod -- Ed Cooley returns to his home city with Georgetown this weekend (11:45). Providence hosts the Hoyas in a Saturday afternoon tip ripe with subplots. We also cover the Friars women and a nice overtime win against Villanova (53:10), the URI women and a bounceback win against La Salle (57:25), the Rams men and a stumble against Fordham (64:00), the Bryant men and a potential showdown with Vermont (74:40) and more. Thanks as always for listening. Hope this finds you well.
Welcome to the latest edition of the Providence Journal's College Basketball Podcast. This is Bill Koch, sports writer for the Journal. I'm joined as always by Nick Coit, the sports director at ABC6 and the weekend co-host of Cordischi and Coit on WEEI Providence. Providence's men snapped a four-game losing streak with a rout of DePaul (2:00). The Friars can carry some good feelings into their bye week. Brown's men evened their Ivy League record with a win at Harvard (18:00). The Bears hung on down the stretch while improving to 1-1 in conference. Bryant's men are preparing for a weekend trip to Albany (25:30). The Bulldogs are seeking a 4-0 start in America East. URI's men are in the midst of a tough-two game road swing (34:30). The Rams were blown out at St. Bonaventure and now go to Dayton -- a homecoming of sorts for Archie Miller. The Rams women grinded past Fordham and are gearing for a Sunday showdown with Saint Joseph's (49:20). They're seeking some sharpness against a fellow Atlantic 10 contender. The Friars women dropped a thriller to Georgetown this week (57:45). Providence fell in the final seconds and make a weekend trip to Butler. The Bears women suffered a first Ivy League defeat against Harvard (65:55). The Crimson offered a look at a conference tournament qualifier -- Brown has work to do while looking to reach that level. The Bulldogs women come off a bye and welcome red-hot Albany on Saturday (73:00). Bryant is 2-2 in America East and right in the thick of the race for a home game in the conference tournament. Thanks as always for listening.
Welcome to the latest edition of the Providence Journal's College Basketball Podcast. This is Bill Koch, sports writer for the Journal. I'm joined as always by Nick Coit, the sports director at ABC6 and the weekend co-host of Cordischi and Coit on WEEI Providence. The University of Rhode Island men are red-hot -- four straight wins and a 3-0 start in the Atlantic 10. The Rams blitzed Massachusetts on Saturday in their latest victory (3:00). Providence's men are the opposite. The Friars are adrift, losing their fourth straight in Big East play when they fell to Xavier on Saturday (23:20). Bryant's men continue to show significant upside. The Bulldogs are 3-0 in America East after a solid road win at New Hampshire and have won five of six overall (36:30). Brown's women head into a Monday home tip looking for a 3-0 start in the Ivy League. The Bears blew out Dartmouth and dominated Yale for the first 35 minutes before hanging on in New Haven (50:00). Bryant's women are back to .500 in league play after a tense home victory against New Hampshire. The Bulldogs executed late against the Wildcats, finding a defensive stop and securing a key rebound (61:35). Thanks as always for listening.
Welcome to the latest edition of the Providence Journal College Basketball Podcast. This is Bill Koch, sports writer for The Journal. I'm joined as always by Nick Coit, sports director at ABC6 and the weekend co-host of Cordischi and Coit on WEEI Providence. Bryce Hopkins suffered a season-ending knee injury Wednesday night (3:30) and Providence's 2023-24 campaign now veers into the unknown (8:05). The Friars fell to Seton Hall and face an uncertain road that starts with a visit to Creighton. URI looks like a new team with David Green eligible and David Fuchs back from concussion protocol (21:15). The Rams rallied past Saint Joseph's in a Wednesday stunner and could be a factor in the Atlantic 10 moving forward. Saturday brings women's conference action across the state. URI (40:10) and Providence (50:05) will host St. Bonaventure and St. John's, respectively. More on the Rams and Friars here. Bryant's women host UMBC on Saturday after an opening America East loss at Albany (60:35). The Great Danes on paper figured to be a much tougher challenge than the Retrievers -- the Bulldogs will be looking to bounce back. Bryant's men begin America East play at UMBC on Saturday (65:35). The Bulldogs have survived a meatgrinder of a nonconference schedule and should be primed to make a run in the league. Brown's men lost a comfortable lead and fell to Vermont in their nonconference finale (70:05). The Bears need a fresh start in the Ivy League after a latest tough setback. Brown's women also jump into Ivy League play this weekend with a trip to Dartmouth (77:50). The Bears could be in line for a postseason berth after a strong trip through their nonconference schedule. Thanks as always for listening. Hope your 2024 is off to a great start.
Dream team 55:15 Christmas wishes 65:20 Welcome to the latest edition of the Providence Journal College Basketball Podcast. This is Bill Koch, sports writer for The Journal. I'm joined as always by Nick Coit, sports director at ABC6 and the weekend co-host of Cordischi and Coit on WEEI Providence. Providence's men opened Big East play with a bang by rolling No. 6 Marquette (1:15). Should we reset expectations for the Friars men based on this grounding of the Golden Eagles? Bryant's men battled to a double-overtime win against Towson and continues its resilient nonconference run (25:25). The Bulldogs are back in home action on Friday. The University of Rhode Island men fell to Delaware, dropping their fourth straight (37:10). The Rams look to snap that string Thursday against New Hampshire. Bryant and Providence ran into tough foes on the women's side (49:20). The Bulldogs and Friars fell to Boston College and No. 10 Baylor, respectively. What would a men's dream team in the state look like? Took a bit of a dive into that here (55:15). Also wrapped up with some Christmas wishes (65:20). Thanks as always for listening. Hope this finds you well.
Welcome to the latest edition of the Providence Journal College Basketball Podcast. This is Bill Koch, sports writer for The Journal. I'm joined as always by Nick Coit, sports director at ABC6 and the weekend co-host of Cordischi and Coit on WEEI Providence. We take a deep dive into NCAA waivers and how a recent court decision could affect the University of Rhode Island men (3:00). The Rams are proceeding with caution regarding two-time transfer David Green, who could find himself eligible to play immediately after progress in a West Virginia case. Bryant's men will join URI on Long Island this weekend for a tripleheader (27:20). Providence's men will be at home Saturday afternoon (35:25) while the Friars women will take the Alumni Hall floor Saturday evening (46:20) -- both will be taking on Sacred Heart. Also more here on the Bulldogs women (53:45) and the differing paths traveled so far by the Rams women and Bears women (58:20). Thanks as always for listening. Hope this finds you well.

Thanks as always for listening. Hope this finds you well.
Welcome to the latest Providence Journal college basketball podcast. This is Bill Koch, sports writer for The Journal. I'm joined as always by Nick Coit, sports director at ABC6 and weekend co-host of Cordischi and Coit on WEEI-Providence. It's Rivalry Weekend here in Rhode Island. We've got Brown-Bryant on Friday night at Pizzitola Center and Providence-URI on Saturday night at Amica Mutual Pavilion. Breakdowns of Bears-Bulldogs (3:00) and Friars-Rams (22:30) here. Welcome to the latest Providence Journal college basketball podcast. This is Bill Koch, sports writer for The Journal. I'm joined as always by Nick Coit, sports director at ABC6 and weekend co-host of Cordischi and Coit on WEEI-Providence. We touch on all eight local Division I teams here -- Rivalry Weekend is covered in a special edition. Brown-Bryant women (1:10) got us started Wednesday night, and it was the Bears getting it done late. University of Rhode Island women suffered a surprising late loss to Quinnipiac on Thursday (10:00). A look at the Rams and a couple early stumbles. Providence women went on the road and fell to Columbia, a power in a difficult Ivy League (17:30). The Lions are one of at least three teams with real NCAA Tournament aspirations there. The Friars men cruised past Lehigh and Wagner coming off their Bahamas trip (21:40). Josh Oduro, Bryce Hopkins and Ticket Gaines have all flashed their offensive ability. The URI men rallied for a statement win over Yale (27:40). The Rams are showing signs of real growth even without David Green, who will sit the 2023-24 season after having a waiver request denied by the NCAA. The Bulldogs men filled an open schedule date with Springfield and eased to a predictable win (38:20). More on Bryant and it's difficulty finding willing opponents -- including, in this case, Connecticut -- here. Brown's men salvaged the middle of three games during their Bahamas trip, but the Bears are searching for answers (48:00). There's still some time to salvage nonconference confidence, but it's growing short. Thanks as always to everyone tuning in.
The latest edition of the Providence Journal's college basketball podcast is here. This is Bill Koch, sports writer for the Journal. I'm joined as always by Nick Coit, sports director at ABC6 and the weekend co-host of Cordischi and Coit on WEEI Providence. Lots of ground to cover entering this holiday week. Bryant's men made history with a win at No. 10 Florida Atlantic, the first over a ranked opponent in program history (5:00). The Bulldogs followed up with a Monday win over Howard. Providence's men enjoyed a 2-1 stretch against three power conference opponents (14:55). The Friars split two games in the Bahamas, falling to Kansas State and rebounding to beat Georgia. The University of Rhode Island men were swept in two games at Mohegan Sun (24:00). The Rams stepped up in class against Northwestern and Washington State, falling twice in front of a good portion of traveling fans. Brown's men built some confidence against Rhode Island College and played USC to the wire on the road (34:00). The Bears showed what they have the potential to be over 40 minutes on court with the Trojans. URI's women won at Brown before coming up just shy on the road against North Carolina State (43:00). The Rams looked like a different team than the one that lost at Maine. Brown's women are headed on a road trip after falling at home to URI (51:15). The Bears split games with the Rams and Providence at home last week. Bryant's women sit at 3-1 entering three straight games away from home (55:15). The Bulldogs outlasted Central Connecticut State and will play at Merrimack and at Florida International. Providence's women have dropped two straight after winning their first two games of the season (60:10). The Friars were clipped by Brown before falling at home to Boston College over the weekend. Happy Thanksgiving to all. Hope it's a day filled with family, great food and a side of college basketball. Thanks as always for listening.

We start with a coaching change -- Jared Grasso formally tendered his resignation with the Bryant men (2:50). The Bulldogs promoted Phil Martelli Jr. from acting head coach and signed him to a long-term contract (11:55). Brown's men are winless no more after taking care of Rhode Island College (22:20). The Bears lifted their spirits ahead of a weekend trip to USC. Providence's men are in the Bahamas and ready for a Friday night test against Kansas State (30:10). The Friars will face either Miami or Georgia in their second game of that event, and they're coming off an impressive home win against Wisconsin. They're 3-0 after another comfortable victory against Wagner. Brown and URI square off in the women's ranks on Friday night (51:40). The Bears host the Rams at Pizzitola Center, and each program is in a different mood. Brown has won two straight against Big East opponents -- including Providence on Wednesday -- while URI struggled in a surprising road loss at Maine. Bryant's women are home Friday night before hitting the road next week (62:10). The Bulldogs host Central Connecticut State sitting at 2-1, including an easy win at Stonehill. Thanks as always for listening.

Brown's men (46:05) effectively start their postseason Saturday night. The Bears host Yale with a place in Ivy Madness at stake. A win and Brown claims the fourth spot in the league tournament at Princeton. Bryant's men (55:40) have one game left at Maine prior to beginning America East tournament action. The Bulldogs could be hosting a quarterfinal on Saturday -- whether or not they can build some momentum remains to be seen. Thanks as always for listening.
Welcome to the latest edition of the Providence Journal College Basketball Podcast. This is Bill Koch, sports writer for the Journal. I'm joined by the usual lineup of co-hosts -- WPRI and Fox Providence sports director Morey Hershgordon and Nick Coit, the ABC6 sports director and weekend co-host of Cordischi and Coit on WEEI Providence. We're less than three weeks from Selection Sunday -- it's time to handicap some March Madness chances. Providence's men (2:55) should be locks for a seventh NCAA Tournament appearance under Ed Cooley. The University of Rhode Island women (14:35) kept their thin hopes of an at-large chance alive with a dramatic Sunday win at Saint Joseph's. Brown's men (22:15) and Bryant's men (30:30) are both fighting for position in their upcoming conference tournaments. The Bears remain in the running for the fourth Ivy League spot while the Bulldogs are battling to play at least a quarterfinal matchup at the Chace Center. URI's men (37:35) and Providence's women (44:40) will be long shots entering their respective tournaments. Bryant's women (47:35) could squeeze into the bottom of the America East field while Brown's women (48:30), despite significant improvement in 2022-23, will fall short of a tournament bid in a rugged Ivy League. Thanks as always for listening.
Welcome to the latest edition of the Providence Journal's College Basketball Podcast. This is Bill Koch, sports writer for the Journal. I'm joined by WPRI and Fox Providence sports director Morey Hershgordon and Nick Coit, the ABC6 sports director and weekend co-host of Cordischi and Coit on WEEI-Providence. The Friars handled Georgetown and are bound for a Saturday date with St. John's at Madison Square Garden (1:45). Providence will get a taste of the atmosphere ahead of next month's Big East Tournament. Bryce Hopkins and Cumberland native Tyler Kolek are both popping up on lists for national awards (17:05). Both have been named to the Naismith watch list and are in the running for Karl Malone and Bob Cousy honors, respectively. Tammi Reiss celebrated her 100th game at the University of Rhode Island with a Wednesday victory over George Washington (20:40). The Rams continue rolling along atop the Atlantic 10 and are building toward a major showdown with Massachusetts next week. Brown remains in Ivy League contention thanks to a weekend sweep of Dartmouth and Harvard (32:00). The Bears host Cornell in a critical Saturday tip and look to remain in the running for a top-four spot in the conference. Bryant ended its recent cold snap on the road by dismissing Albany (42:30). The Bulldogs are battling for a favorable seed in America East and doing so thanks to multiple contributors -- Charles Pride key among them, and not just with his production on the floor. Lastly, we take a look at the Super Bowl and take Morey's temperature regarding his Philadelphia Eagles (52:30). The big game kicks off Sunday evening and he'll be sweating out every snap. Thanks again to everyone for listening.
ABC6's Mike McCarthy reports on a suicide that took place during school hours yesterday in Pickerington
Hello and welcome to the latest Providence Journal College Basketball Podcast. This is Bill Koch, sports writer for The Journal. I'm joined by WPRI and Fox Providence sports director Morey Hershgordon and Nick Coit, the ABC6 sports director and weekend co-host of Cordischi and Coit on WEEI-Providence. Exciting times on the pod as the calendar turns to February. Providence's men are in the hunt again for a Big East regular season title after taking home the 2021-22 version (5:30). The Friars visit Xavier for a key showdown Wednesday night. Tyler Kolek will have something to say in that title race with Marquette (23:00). The Cumberland native is the reigning league Player of the Week after coming within a whisker of a triple-double in a win over DePaul. The University of Rhode Island women are heading down the stretch as the lone undefeated team in the Atlantic 10 (28:40). The Rams end their bye with a Wednesday home game against Saint Joseph's, and the schedule ramps up considerably from there. An upset of Dayton and a rally past La Salle made it two straight wins for the URI men (37:25). The Rams continue to show signs of improvement midway through their league schedule and now gear for three straight on the road. Brown's men enter an important two-game weekend on the road at Dartmouth and Harvard (50:05). The Bears could use a sweep to keep pace with the top four in the Ivy League standings and maintain hopes of a postseason berth. Providence's women face the ultimate league challenge Wednesday night -- a home date with Connecticut (60:10). The Friars are off a road win at Xavier and will look to catch the Huskies napping after they downed Tennessee and Villanova. Bryant's men will look to snap a two-game losing streak Wednesday night against Maine (64:10). The Bulldogs are finding life more difficult in America East -- their chances of a home quarterfinal in the conference tournament are teetering a bit. Thanks as always for listening.
Welcome to the latest Providence Journal College Basketball Podcast. This is Bill Koch, sports writer for the Journal. I'm joined as usual by Morey Hershgordon, sports director at WPRI and Fox Providence, and Nick Coit, sports director at ABC6 and weekend co-host of Cordischi and Coit on WEEI Providence. Kvonn Cramer returned Thursday night for Bryant (2:40), completing a seven-week recovery from an illness that forced him to seek care in a Cincinnati intensive care unit. He played 14 minutes as the Bulldogs took care of NJIT. Providence lost a pair of road games against fellow Big East contenders (9:40) and returns home for a couple matchups with DePaul and Butler. Bryce Hopkins has been named to the midseason Robertson Trophy list. Tammi Reiss and the University of Rhode Island women (27:40) are rolling. The Rams are 15-3 overall after blowing out Richmond this week. URI's men (35:40) begin a three-game homestand Saturday against George Mason. The Rams could use some luck at the Ryan Center after their road struggles continued Tuesday night. Brown plays a last home game against Columbia (44:30) before hitting the road for six of its next seven. The Bears are in the thick of the race for an Ivy League playoff spot. Mike Brey and Notre Dame are parting ways at the end of the season (53:05), setting up another headline opening on the coaching carousel. More on the Fighting Irish and a course review from Professor Coit to finish the pod. Thanks as always for joining us.
Welcome back to the latest edition of the Providence Journal College Basketball Podcast. This is Bill Koch, sports writer with the Journal, alongside my two co-conspirators -- Nick Coit, the sports director at ABC6 and weekend co-host of Cordischi and Coit on WEEI-Providence, and Morey Hershgordon, the sports director at WPRI and Fox Providence. No. 19 Providence rolls into Creighton this weekend leading the men's Big East standings. We look at the road ahead and how we've arrived here for a second straight season (3:10). Can the Friars be the next Villanova? There are some parallels as Ed Cooley enters his second decade. There also appears to be room to establish the program at or near the top of the league (19:40). The University of Rhode Island women also top their conference (28:30). Tammi Reiss says the Rams aren't the team to beat just yet in the Atlantic 10, but there's certainly something special being built in Kingston. The URI men came out on the right side of a midweek thriller with St. Bonaventure (38:55). The Rams show some warts at times and encourage you at times -- this is the life of a rebuilder. Bryant is weathering some bumps in its new home in the America East (50:50). Maybe a win over Albany gets it going after consecutive losses to Vermont and UMBC. Are there coaching carousel ripples to come? Kentucky, Texas and Georgetown are generating some buzz already (64:10). Those seismic shifts will reach every corner of the sport -- including, potentially, here. Lastly, some awards news (75:45). Thanks for joining us.
Welcome to the first 2023 edition of the Providence Journal College Basketball Podcast. This is Bill Koch, sports writer for The Journal. I'm joined by the two usual co-conspirators -- Nick Coit, the sports director at ABC6 and weekend co-host on WEEI Providence, and Morey Hershgordon, the sports director at WPRI and Fox Providence. Conference play kicks into high gear this week with two premier men's matchups -- Providence hosts No. 4 Connecticut on Wednesday night (2:30) and Bryant visits Vermont on Thursday night (29:35). The top of the standings in the Big East and America East, respectively, will feel the ripples from those two games. Brown also opened an extended Ivy League home stand with a defeat against Penn (35:30). Meetings with Harvard and Dartmouth await this weekend. We'll take a more democratic approach next week -- apologies to the programs who didn't make the show. Thanks for joining us as always.
Welcome to the latest Providence Journal College Basketball Podcast. This is Bill Koch, sports reporter with the Journal. I'm joined by my usual co-conspirators -- Nick Coit, the ABC6 sports director and weekend co-host on WEEI Providence; and Morey Hershgordon, the sports director at WPRI and Fox Providence. It's time for first-semester grades for our men's and women's basketball teams, and we offer them here. Providence's men (2:40) and women (8:15), the University of Rhode Island's men (13:20) and women (19:50), Brown's men (28:20) and women (37:45) and Bryant's men (44:45) and women (53:40) are all included. Extra credit is available prior to the start of classes in the second semester. Let's see who might reach out and grab it over the next couple weeks. Thanks as always for joining us.
Welcome to the latest Providence Journal College Basketball Podcast. This is Journal sports writer Bill Koch. I'm joined by ABC6 sports director and WEEI Providence weekend co-host Nick Coit and WPRI/Fox Providence sports director Morey Hershgordon. Brown's men staked a real claim as state champions by winning at Bryant and at the University of Rhode Island over the past week (1:45). The Bears aim to make it five straight on the road at Michigan State over the weekend. Losing to the Bears was a gut punch for the Rams (14:05), who led by 10 points late in the second half. They're absorbing some painful lessons early in a rebuild under Archie Miller. Providence took care of URI for the 10th time in the last 12 meetings and has found its offensive rhythm (25:40). The Friars have one nonconference game left against Albany before the Big East arrives. The Bulldogs (40:25) have battled off-court health problems over the past week -- best wishes to them as they enter a Friday night game with Stony Brook. It feels like ages since they won at Syracuse last weekend. Pawtucket native Isaiah Miranda made his college choice this week, and it was a power program winning out for his services (48:05). Miranda is off to North Carolina State and will be eligible immediately for second semester. Providence's women continued their strong nonconference form by taking out Brown (54:20). The Friars lost in a thriller earlier this season to URI (57:55), who hosted Education Day against Hartford on Wednesday morning and drew a good crowd of kids to the Ryan Center. Thanks for joining us as always.

Welcome and happy Thanksgiving to all our Providence Journal College Basketball Podcast listeners. This is Bill Koch with the Journal and I'm joined by my usual co-conspirators -- Nick Coit, the ABC6 sports director and WEEI weekend co-host, and Morey Hershgordon, the WPRI and Fox Providence sports director. Providence crapped out over the weekend at Mohegan Sun, swept by Miami and Saint Louis (2:00). The University of Rhode Island got off to a tough start in the Cayman Islands, blitzed by Kansas State in the Monday opener of a three-game stay (15:15). Bryant is back from a three-game Florida swing after going 2-1, and now they prepare for a Saturday showdown at Syracuse (27:40). Brown broke through for its first win to start a three-game homestand, and it has another chance Wednesday night (38:10). We close with a look at the women's scene in the state -- the Rams hosting Coppin State on Tuesday, the emerging Bears on a three-game winning streak and a pending clash between the Friars and Bulldogs in a holiday tournament this weekend (48:50). Thanks as always for listening. Best to you and your families.
Welcome back to the latest edition of the Providence Journal College Basketball Podcast. This is Journal sports writer Bill Koch. I'm joined as always by my two co-conspirators -- WPRI/Fox Providence sports director Morey Hershgordon and ABC6 sports director/WEEI weekend co-host Nick Coit. Providence's men (2:50) are 2-0 despite feeling their way through opening games against Rider and Northeastern. The Friars are trying to thread the needle between success and growth -- it's an interesting calculation for Ed Cooley. Rhode Island's men (14:10) have endured similar struggles in their first two games. Turnovers and poor shooting doomed the Rams against Quinnipiac and Texas State. More on that here. Bryant's men (24:30) made some headlines by slaughtering poor Thomas College in a matchup against a non-Division I opponents. We get into scheduling, why the Bulldogs shouldn't have to play such a game and more. South Kingstown native Keegan Records returned with Colgate and made life tough on the Brown men (39:30). The Bears are 0-3 against a difficult early schedule -- more on how they might be able to get well soon. URI hosts Providence in a women's rivalry battle at the Ryan Center on Monday night (50:30). A look at what the game means for the Rams and Friars along with a recap of their first week. Brown women (60:30) and Bryant women (63:00) also in action shortly. Thanks as always for joining us.

Are humans fully rational creatures? While most of us would say "no," unfortunately too many organizations act as if their employees are driven only by logic and reason. However, much recent research shows that humans are mostly driven by emotions and our evolutionary background has resulted in a series of mental errors – called cognitive biases – that result in tribal behaviors, undermining diversity and inclusion initiatives. To address such problematic behaviors, we need to understand the emotional drivers that result in tribalism and undercut diversity and inclusion, and thus damage motivation and engagement, increase discord and turnover, and create a toxic internal culture. Cultivating diversity and inclusion thus requires a grasp of organizational social intelligence, the ability to understand and shape the emotions and social interactions of stakeholders within an organization. Cultivating diversity and inclusion thus requires a grasp of organizational social intelligence, the ability to understand and shape the emotions and social interactions of stakeholders within an organization. Attendees will learn social intelligence research-based strategies customized to the needs of HR professionals and get free access to a web-based app that helps address such cognitive biases and effectively cultivate diversity and inclusion within an organization.Slides here: https://www.slideshare.net/intentiona...Learning Objectives1.
