This books covers heavy topics from sexual abuse, Bipolar disorder, racism, and her personal story of being a women who works in churches, and her journey out of the Southern Baptist Convention that she loved. It moves from her childhood in Arkansas to her unexpected climb to fame in Texas. In this book, you see the wrecking ball that kept going through her life, and her husband's life, and they ended up in a little Anglican church. Beth Moore's memoir, All My Knotted-Up Life, was beautiful.
For almost three decades, Beth Moore was a committed evangelical Southern Baptist. She was also a superstar in the Southern Baptist Denomination. Moore shared her love of Jesus and the Bible with millions of evangelical women at Bible study gatherings across the country, events that often drew stadium-sized crowds. But when the infamous Donald Trump Access Hollywood tape surfaced, Moore was stunned. She's a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and felt Trump's comments bordered on criminality. When the Southern Baptist Denomination said nothing and continued to support Trump, Moore made the decision to walk away from the Church.Today on The Sunday Story our new host, Ayesha Rascoe, talks to Moore about her faith and childhood and why she felt it was time to share her experiences in a new memoir, All My Knotted Up Life.
In this podcast—Part 2 of our summer reading series—TNC Pastor David Bryan teaches from Beth Moore's newest book, “All My Knotted-Up Life,” on three “saving-graces” for the well-lived life.
Beth Moore shares her story of childhood abuse and about finding refuge in the Scriptures, the church, and the love of Jesus. Beth Moore is an author, speaker, and teacher, and she is the founder and visionary of Living Proof Ministries. She has written numerous bestselling books, including her most recent, All My Knotted-Up Life.
Beloved Bible teacher and best selling author, Beth Moore, joins Be the Bridge founder and podcast host, Latasha Morrison, once again on the podcast. They discuss her new memoir: All My Knotted Up Life and some of the stories she shares in it of growing up in racialized settings in Arkansas and Texas. They lament how we find ourselves in a time of being unable to reason together and of people looking away from injustice. Latasha and Beth agree on the need to know definitions in the language surrounding racial justice, that it is good and right to always be learning, and that remembering is a sacred act. They laugh together and share wisdom together. Beth is living proof of humble leadership and dedicated companionship. Host & Executive Producer - Latasha Morrison Senior Producer - Lauren C. Brown Producer, Editor, & Music - Travon Potts at Integrated Entertainment Studios Transcriber - Sarah Connatser Quotes: “We know that beauty is going to come from the ashes, but the ashes are just so hot at times.” -Latasha Morrison “How long, Lord? When will lives be more important than sides?” -Beth Moore “You don't have to worry that God's just taking this side or he's taking that side. He's just taking over.” -Beth Moore “I want to be a companion to those who have been mistreated.” -Beth Moore Links: All My Knotted Up Life: A Memoir by Beth Moore Connect with Beth Moore: Her Website Facebook Instagram Twitter Connect with Be the Bridge: Our Website Facebook Instagram Twitter Connect with Latasha Morrison: Facebook Instagram Twitter Not all views expressed in this interview reflect the values and beliefs of Latasha Morrison or the Be the Bridge organization. Tracy and Rachel are thrilled to honor the changing seasons of spring and renewal by interviewing author Rebecca Mann Kelly! Rebecca's new book Return to the Garden: Discovering God's Original Design for Women offers a powerful invitation to all women to leave places where they are in bondage & captivity and be restored to their true identities. Part memoir, part call to action, Rebecca shares her personal experiences breaking free from damaging cycles of emotional abuse and people-pleasing to embrace the total freedom of being a beloved daughter of God. Encouraging a contextualization of modern misogyny, patriarchy, and feminism through the notion of the curse set forth in the Biblical book of Genesis, Rebecca reminds listeners that Jesus Himself offered a countercultural, radical form of love to both men and women. Rebecca and Tracy examine cycles of manipulation and control within unhealthy relationships; Rachel and Rebecca discuss with relief that God is not an angry authority figure waiting to punish, but rather a loving Creator who craves relationship with His children. All three women collectively lament Daylight Savings Time and the general lack of sleep that follows. “I've had both a great time and a terrifying time on this planet. Lord, somewhere in the middle of that is my real life." So says Beth Moore, our returning guest on this episode of The Russell Moore Show. Reflecting on writing her recently-published memoir All My Knotted Up Life, Beth and Russell (friends who are regularly mistaken for relatives) talk about the heaviness and hope of Beth's story. Russell and Beth also talk about the ways in which church was a safe place for Beth when her home was not. Beth offers advice to listeners in unsafe situations. She and Russell talk about women in ministry, leaving the Southern Baptist Convention, and what it's like to lose relationships when church life goes awry. And they testify to God's goodness in their lives—reflecting on the ways he shows up again and again in seasons of plenty and seasons of pain. Please note: For those who may typically listen with children nearby or need to take care around topics of abuse, this episode includes a discussion of incest. What began as a small side project, leading a Christian exercise class during the height of the 1980s aerobics craze, has morphed into an international speaking and writing ministry for Beth Moore. Known as Living Proof, Moore's ministry enabled her to address thousands in packed-out stadiums across America at a time when women in her denomination - the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) - were encouraged to be stay-at-home mothers and wives. Her books and Bible studies went on to sell in their millions. In more recent years , it has been her condemnation of what she feels is “rotten” at the core of American evangelicalism that has seen her hitting headlines. In this interview with Claire Musters, Beth speaks candidly about the childhood abuse she experienced, the growth of Living Proof and why she left her "beloved" denomination behind. Today's episode concludes our four-part, pod-class series on mentorship. And what better way to finish than with godly wisdom and inspiration from another one of Heather's favorite online mentors? We're thrilled to welcome Beth Moore to Viral Jesus. Last week, Jo Saxton guided us through practical tips on what mentoring is, and why we need to cultivate environments that allow us to use our gifts. This week, in often emotional chat, Beth helps us to decipher the voice of God and explains why Scripture is crucial to that process. She also encourages all of us to look for opportunities to be mentors, even if we've never had one ourselves. Heather also sits down with our favorite social media expert, Brady Shearer, to learn about the strategy of inspiration over information when it comes to posting online content. Brady is the director of Pro Church Tools and the church-software platform Nucleus. His work focuses on helping churches navigate the biggest communication shift in 500 years. Beth Moore was raised in the Southern Baptist Convention. As an adult, she went on to become an evangelist, teaching Bible studies to women in arenas around the world. But as she recounts in her new memoir, All My Knotted-Up Life, she grew up feeling a deep shame – and surviving sexual abuse at home – that reached a breaking point with the surfacing of the Donald Trump "Access Hollywood" tape and the investigation into the SBC. As Moore tells NPR's Ayesha Rascoe, those events led her to eventually leave her denomination.
Todd Still and Beth Moore discuss Beth's conference address on ‘The Bible and Race' but they also visit about Moore's ongoing ministry as well as her recently-released memoir All My Knotted-Up Life.

Leaning into a big call on your life often requires a healthy dose of courage – of which this week's guest has no shortage of! Beloved Bible study leader, bestselling author, speaker and all-around visionary, Beth Moore, is a faith leader familiar to many – but until recently, known by few. Her actions ignited a public firestorm within the church about women's roles, which would eventually lead Beth to break away from the denomination she was born into. "Home was not safe." Author, evangelist, and president of Living Proof Ministries Beth Moore joins Sadie to talk about some very traumatic events in her life, how lost and unsafe she felt at home with her dad as a young girl, and how God's love and grace transformed EVERYTHING for her. Beth reminds anyone who has been abused or experienced trauma: You did not ruin your life. You are NOT rotten! There is NOTHING that you can do — or have had done TO you — that would make you unworthy of God's love and grace. Sadie shares her own story of a situation where she suddenly felt paralyzed, full of fear, and unsure of what to do. Beth talks about how through prayer, counseling, and her relationship with God, her abuse no longer forms her decisions — and how breaking the cycle of trauma is possible for anyone! It all started innocently enough: with evangelistic aerobics. As many famous Christians do, Beth Moore entered ministry with a simple desire: to teach people about Jesus. In the 1980s, that meant choreographing aerobics routines to Contemporary Christian Music. (Think Jazzercise for Jesus.) It also meant teaching a women's Bible study class at church that quickly mushroomed in size. Soon, Beth was speaking at churches across the country, publishing several best-selling Bible studies, and starting her own ministry, Living Proof. Many leaders would envy this kind of ascendant reach. As it turns out, Beth wouldn't wish superstardom on anyone. As she told Katelyn and Roxy in this week's episode, she doesn't think anyone can thrive under an intense spotlight; they can only hope to survive it.Beth has indeed survived it, using her platform since 2016 to speak up on behalf of women and people of color who have been hurt and marginalized in the evangelical church. Her public advocacy has received scrutiny from SBC leaders and online gadflies, but Beth is surviving because of the support of her family, plus simple joys like using her cast-iron skillet, visiting her neighbor's donkey, and making batches of jelly.GUESTS:Beth Moore is the founder of Living Proof Ministries and the author of several Bible studies and books, including the forthcoming memoir All My Knotted-Up Life.Listeners of Saved by the City get 40 percent off of Katelyn's new book, Celebrities for Jesus, when they head over to Baker Book House.
