Joe's Crab Shack has been serving seafood and sass since 1991 — but who is Joe? In this week's episode, I dig deep into the murky origins of this kitschy crustacean-themed chain, uncovering mystery, missteps, and marketing that somehow works. From accidentally boozed-up babies to scandalous decorations and trans fat deception, Joe's has made some serious waves. Plus, I'm joined by longtime friend and podcast voice Sandy Rose to question whether you can truly trust a restaurant that sells shirts saying “I've Got Crabs.” Is Joe's just a goofy seafood joint? Or a case study in chaotic chain dining gone rogue?
On me donnait de méchants surnoms.

hey,Once upon a time, I was the poster girl for ambition. So much so that 16 years after I stopped working, The Cut profiled me for their ambition series. And I fondly remember the fun New York Times profile entitled, “Coconut Shrimp? Ambition Can Wait,” in which the late, great David Carr referred to me as “one of the most ambitious editors in New York.” Fun fact: I had explosive diarrhea during the Bubba Gump leg of our Dining Out voyage and I even got some

In this Hunks-only mess of an episode, we let the wind take us and talk about a little bit of everything. A few of the guys talk about their plans for fall and winter fishing, while a few others talk about some oddball cold weather tactics that many don't consider. This conversation leads to another conversation (and listener question) about the proper way to "just make it work” with your bass gear if you're on the fence about getting into musky fishing. We pick this apart and do our best to talk about the right way to downsize your gear for safe and effective use of bass-sized baits on bigger fish. We talk about launching boats without launches, and revisit some more items to include in that beginner boat kit that we left out last week. Nick becomes the Bubba Gump of secondhand anchors, and recaps some of his most memorable harvests.

This week on The Pod Charles Cinecast, presented by The Prince Charles Cinema, our hosts Jonathan Foster and Fil Freitas run to the finish line with our final Vietnam film in our WAR, WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR?... HOLLYWOOD MOVIES arc! What better way to finish off the Vietnam War, than with one of the "best" films about the war, and just in general, of all time? Of course, we're talking about the 1994 Robert Zemeckis classic FORREST GUMP, starring Tom Hanks. You know the story, we see Tom Hanks, in a much different role than when he last appeared in our War arc with Saving Private Ryan, as the magical dimwit who floats through life with ease and somehow has a part in almost every major American event from the 1950s – 1980s. Smack dab in the middle, we see Forrest go off to Vietnam, for truly one of the more realistic takes on the war. With one of the greatest soundtracks ever assembled, full of kick ass bands like CCR, Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones, The Mamas and the Papas, Simon and Garfunkel, Buffalo Springfield, The Byrds and Lynyrd Skynyrd, plus an Academy Award-winning performance from its lead, FORREST GUMP is arguably one of the greatest movies of all-time. But is it also one of the worst? Tune in, as we have a look at this iconic slice of American pie... If you enjoy the podcast, leave a Rating and Review! It really helps us out! New Great Quote and Must Read Before Labor Day Many years ago, we started a spin-off podcast to Franchise Interviews called Great Quotes in Franchising. Great Quotes in Franchising features great quotes and aha moments from our show. We start today's show with our latest Great Quote in Franchising, which comes from Alex Wilkes of Pearle Vision. Alex discusses why pride in the brand name is so important when choosing a franchise opportunity. Must Read Before Labor Day One of Marty McDermott's (Host of Franchise Interviews) favorite movies is Forrest Gump. So when we heard Scott Barnett, author of Gumption: Taking Bubba Gump from Movie to Restaurant, completed his book, we knew we had to have him on the show. The Bubba Gump Shrimp Company decided on using franchising when it came time to expand globally. Scott shares some of these exciting stories, which can also be learned about in the book. Scott Barnett's restaurant knowledge began when he was a teenager parking attendant in a popular steakhouse in Palm Desert, California. Taking the hard road, he performed every job there was to do in the business as he cooked, served, bartended his way through college, and crashed into the restaurant industry in his rebellious and irreverent way.

A couple of years ago, someone I follow posted "Day 1" on Instagram.I was like "Ooooh! I wonder what's up there!"The next day, they posted "Day 1.""Hmmm... I wonder what happened yesterday."Then the following day they posted "Day 1.""Ohhhkay, this is really weird."But after about a week, I realized the point. Every day... is Day 1.When I started coaching women on their health limiting beliefs, many of them found the phrase "Day 1" to be triggering."It reminds me of the first day of a diet," I'd hear.Yet, every time I asked, "And what day did you have the greatest motivation?"Every single one of them said "Day 1."What's the most defeating day of anything? Not Day 1.When I was getting my run coaching certification, they asked "what's the biggest challenge for a beginner runner on Day 1? Get them to come back on Day 2."Day 2 is an ugly, defeatist day. But Day 1? Day 1 is limitless possibility.I wrote a few months ago about why I don't count days in sobriety. I don't need a rope tied to a point in the past so I can just obsess over how long it has been. Every day is Day 1.Granted, sobriety for me, as my friend MartinJon would say, is "a beverage choice." I never created a structure to make it mean something disempowering, and unlike many people, I began my recovery nearly two years before I finally let go of alcohol. When I wrote a few months ago about a fictitious scenario of someone binge drinking today after a long dry period, someone on my list wrote to me about having a visceral reaction to that. That doesn't surprise me. Because to that person, it was likely seen as an absolute failure. Because now, we need to have another Day 1, and then subsequently.. a DAY TWO. Defeatist, burned out, "I'm a big failure" DAY TWO.If someone doesn't drink for 700 days, and drinks on Day 701, if they don't drink the following day then they have 701 days of sobriety. Not 1.Day counting is triggering. What if every day was Day 1?What a nice thought, Andee.No. For real. Every morning, I wake up and I say "Day 1." I've done this every morning since Monday, March 16th, 2020.That was the day New York City essentially shut down because of COVID, and I started building my life in a new direction.I remember every tiny action I have taken since then. I needed a new life. There was no other option.I knew thinking big wasn't going to work, so I'd say "Day 1. What's here? What can I build from today?"What is here now, and what can I do right now?Present moment awareness. It's the crucial piece many people miss. We're always thinking way off into the future, but the subconscious mind doesn't care about psychological time. It knows now and only now.Since the beginning of 2020, I've run 5,079 miles. According to Strava, that's 774 hours of running. That seems like a big number, but it isn't to me. That happened step-by-step, thump thump, right now, on Day 1. The number never got big in my mind. It's just Day 1. What can I do today... on Day 1?That includes many, MANY days of not running, and just relaxing. That includes many days of "fuck this I'm staying in bed." It includes a few vacations and one cross-country road trip where I sat in the car for days on end. It includes lots and lots- probably too much time sitting on my ass in front of the computer. And lots and lots of time lying in bed watching TV.Day 1. Can I dedicate a half hour to this today? A half-hour... out of my whole day... to this? Day 1.I don't feel stressed or tired at all. That's what happens when it's just Day 1. Every day. When I come home from that run, I ask myself- what can I build from the existing structure that's standing before me?What can YOU build? Today... On Day 1?After much resistance, I am building a group program for women. I plan to launch it next month- I'm aiming for mid-June. I already have reached out to the first few women that I want to be in the program, people I think will help build the culture.Training for Bubba Gump, and being a beta tester for Wisdom app taught me a lot about how the initial core group of people really mold and shape the culture of a community. After years of being a voice in other people's communities, I am creating one of my own.I'll be writing about it more as I take more solid action to get it going.I want it to be a great experience for everyone, so I have an idea of how I want it to look, tech-wise. Now it's just thump thump.ALSO, POWER HOURS are continuing through the next TWO WEEKS. They are powerful 90-minute sessions where we deep-dive into the one area of your life where you can't seem to make motion. They are followed by a week of discourse in notes (like I do with my long-term clients.)If you're feeling stuck, I highly recommend you check this out. They're intense, and you'll likely feel much, much freer having had the experience.90 minutes can do a lot for a person. If you've never met with a coach before, this may radically shift your life in a completely new direction.LEARN MORE ABOUT POWER HOURS HEREI hope you all have a great Day 1.We'll talk soon.Stay Beautiful.Andee

Forrest Gump is a 1994 American comedy-drama film directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Eric Roth. No Reservations is a 2020 Service Industry comedy podcast hosted by Anna and Ryan with this weeks guest Stephanie! Stephanie, like Forrest, had humble beginnings studying hotel/restaurant management and found herself as the GM of a *Episode 43 Spoiler* at the young age of 23. After a run (haha, get it. Run.) of bad jobs including the post office and, you guessed it, Bubba Gump's, she now works with us at the brewery and is no longer one step away from going postal or wearing a shrimp costume. So settle in with a "Peter-rita" for a new episode that, unlike a box of chocolates, you always know what you're going to get.
Richard Coles and Nikki Bedi are joined by Evanna Lynch who was a Harry Potter superfan who developed anorexia aged 11. Whilst having treatment, her beloved Harry Potter books provided an escape, particularly the dreamy, independent character of Luna Lovegood in the fifth book. When the film came around amazingly she won the role, and Evanna played Luna for the remaining four films. She joins us. A few years ago, Hamza Yassin went on holiday to a remote Scottish peninsula. He never left. He is now an acclaimed wildlife cameraman who loves to spread his enthusiasm for the natural world with a series on CBeebies and a new series on More4. Asma Elbadawi led a four-year campaign to overturn a ban on hijabs in women's basketball. Now a performance poet, she joins us. In 2016, vet Rob Pope decided to to copy Forrest Gump and run across America. During his journey Pope became the living embodiment of the Tom Hanks character: long scraggly beard, Bubba Gump's baseball hat and all. By the time he finished, 422 days later, he'd crossed the United States more than four times, covering a distance in excess of 25,000km – the equivalent of 600 marathons – and become the first person to trace the whole Gump route. Lady Anne Glenconner chooses her Inheritance Tracks: Smoke Gets In Your Eyes, The Platters and Nimrod, Edward Elgar, and we have your Thank you. Producer: Corinna Jones

The two and a half ungrownups discuss Matthew's trip to the bachelorette capital of North America, the Lane Motor Museum, and the US Space and Rocket Center. Matthew and Grayson share their thoughts on Fast & Furious 9 and Ryan shares his Northern California adventure with an otter and a urinal. The threesome talk toys as Ryan finally gets his childhood TurboGrafix-16 connected to his TV, Matthew & Grayson talk about buying a bunch of toys on clearance for a Christmas in July event, and Ryan's Batwing is mentioned.
BulletinIn You Must Go | Jonah 1-4On Sunday, Pastor Ross broke down the book of Jonah into 4 scenes - the shipyard scene, the fish belly scene, the cow-field scene, and the pouty pants scene - each with it's own lesson to be learned about God's grace. The highlighted quote of the morning was this: “We christians ought to know God's grace as well as Bubba Gump knows shrimp.” There were so many great words submitted for Word of the Week this week! My guest this week is an incredible friend of mine, Donny Hadfield-Smith. Donny is an entertainment personality who just recently was contracted by The Dipp to co-host “I Am the Cute One: A Mary-Kate and Ashley Podcast.” It launched on June 13th and is available on all platforms. This is Donny's third podcast that has launched since November of 2020. His first podcast, “Know That: A Real Housewives Podcast” has been a big success, and from that, he started another podcast “Truly Anything.Donny has interviewed many celebrities, including Nikki Blonsky, Robert Ri'chard, and Kalen Allen. However, before this, he was stuck in a life that made him unhappy. When the pandemic began, Donny got laid off from his job. Even though he worked at the job for eight years, he never really felt any passion for it. It was just a means to an end. When everyone had to quarantine in early COVID, like many people, Donny was just “trying to survive.”He locked himself in his house, gained a bunch of weight, and just hid from the world. Then, in September, he found out that there might be a possibility he'd have to return to his old life, old job, and old routine. He suddenly felt a sense of upset, as if he would be returning to something that didn't serve him, not having used the time to do something that brought him joy. He decided that if he would be drug back to his old life, first he was going to make sure that he created something and followed his passions.Donny's success might seem to an outsider quite instantaneous, but it was the result of daily work and a complete overhaul of how he chose to think about himself, and who he was showing up as in the world. Now, he's living the life he's dreamed of, delivering hilarious and witty commentary about pop culture to a captivated audience, and he approaches each day as an opportunity, not as a source of dread and upset.Episode Notes:3:06Know That: A Real Housewives Podcast is born. Donny tells the story about the loss of his job, and how the idea of having to return to a life that didn't serve him lit the fire to begin his first successful podcast, based on Bravo's The Real Housewives 7:00As Know That's popularity began to grow, so did Donny's confidence. He used every success as a form of motivation and a steppingstone. Each time he was able to get a new guest or opportunity, he allowed himself to be proud of himself, and take the leap to try for something larger. 8:30We talked about the concept of “believing you are the thing before you are the thing.”During his process of evolution, Donny joined a mastermind group. The leader of the group told everyone to choose the highest level of whatever profession that they could want to be in. Then he told them to not say you want to be that thing, but rather that you are that thing. The advice was invaluable.9:45On Imposter SyndromeDonny discusses strategies for overcoming his Imposter Syndrome in the field of entertainment. He felt, at first, he has absolutely nothing to lose. Thus, he just reached out to as many people as he could. As a new podcaster, he felt people could only help him.He began breadcrumbing by creating memes about Know That, which got a lot of traction and eventually reached the actual Housewives. He started by reaching out to people in their outer circles, and eventually just jumped right in and began having Housewives on the show.Once he began to see people taking him seriously, he started building his confidence further and continuously took action to take it to the next level.12:00The importance of connection: Donny talks about making connection and networking a priority that he does daily. He said doing a lot of his early work virtually really helped, as, at the time, he still didn't have an easy time selling himself. He talks about feeling like somewhat of a catfish in the beginning, reaching out to people to be on his show.15:30Most of Donny's success, he says, comes from simply asking for what he wants. You won't get the things you desire in life without asking17:00Donny discusses his daily habits, which include manifestation.19:00On “redefining work.” Before, Donny had one idea in his mind about what “work” was. “Work” had always been just simple jobs that paid the bills. Before he was contracted to co-host a podcast about Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, most of his work was unpaid. Yet, he showed up every single day as the professional he wanted to be. He treated his work as a business, and with that effort and dedication, it became a business.22:30More on asking, Donny says that nobody is just going to come up and ask you “do you want to be an actor” (which he then follows with “unless you're Chris Pratt at Bubba Gump.)You have to just go out and do it. You have to get over yourself and your fears and realize that the only person who is standing in your way is you.27:00On worthiness, we take a look back to the beginning of the pandemic, where Donny says he knows the person he is now would not be satisfied with the life he was living. He has completely renegotiated his sense of self-worth, what he wants, what he's passionate about, and what he believes he deserves.30:00“Just Do it.”Not just a Nike slogan… you have to just do it. You can think it's too late and that you should have started ten years ago, and then next year you'll be saying you should have started eleven years ago. Or, you can start today.32:00“Micro-Steps Forward”I asked Donny about the small steps that he could describe for things he did daily to begin this journey toward the success he has now. Things such as “connect and have a conversation every day on social media,” and “set aside and invest time into reading about entertainment and celebrity gossip news each day” were just two small things that have had a monumental impact on where Donny is today.36:00“The Good Energy Circle”Donny was one of my COVID buddies. We shared good energy through the pandemic. We talked about the importance of keeping your energy good so that you can have the motivation and inspiration to move forward. He and his husband have a relationship that builds on positive energy and success pushing one another forward. He talks about how great that has been for both of them. 44:00Finally, Donny talks about having read You Are a Badass during the pandemic, and how any negativity or lack of support from others is just the projection of their feelings of inadequacy or disbelief on to you. You are capable. You are worthy.Just do the work daily, and the more you believe in yourself, the more the steps to follow will become evident to you.

This week we are discussing two must read books before Memorial or Labor Day. We begin the show with Danny Lyon, author of The Colour of My Underwear is Blue. With over 60 marathons and 20 years of business experience,Danny Lyon shares why people create such varying levels of business and personal success. Lyon reveals the secrets of the success "high-flyers", the "turnaround artists", the "comfort zone dwellers", and the "give-ups". No matter where you are in your life right now, Lyon sheds light on how you may be holding yourself back and what it takes to get out of your own way. Next, we meet with Steve Barnett, author of Gumption - Taking Bubba Gump from Movie to Restaurant. Written in a cinematic style, this book is about the creation, growth, and sale of the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. The concept began when Paramount Pictures reached out to see if there was interest in creating a restaurant based on the movie Forrest Gump. It is also the personal story of the author’s growth as a CEO and creator of restaurant concepts. A host of situations are described such as restaurant concept creation, high stakes boardroom confrontations, and escaping corrupt officials in foreign lands. The narrative is partly an unvarnished peak behind the everyday scenes of restaurants, movie studios, and Wall Street. There is also an almost step-by-step recounting of how the Bubba Gump concept and others were created and operated. Lessons can be learned on unorthodox methods used in moving from traditional approaches to untried ways of doing business.

Well, I might as well go ahead and tell you that my sound is weird on this episode. Surely you aren't surprised. And if nothing else it will be a nice throwback to Wolfman Jack's studio circa 1974. By the way, you get all sorts of bonus points if you're up to speed on that Wolfman Jack reference. Regardless of sound ish-ahs (for when-oh-when have those ever stopped us?), on this episode we recap our recent trip to Oklahoma and talk for a really long time about all the food we ate while we were there. It's sort of like listening to Bubba Gump talk about all the varieties of shrimp except we didn't actually eat any shrimp. We eventually work our way around to a brief discussion of Southern Charm as well as my thoughts about Spindrift Orange Mango sparkling water. It's all very thrilling. This episode will also bring you one of the very best Melanie comments ever. In fact, it might be my favorite: "I so enjoy just eating hot versions of cheese." Please do enjoy. Show Notes: - Pawhuska, Oklahoma - The Pioneer Woman Boarding House - P-town Pizza - The Spicy Cowgirl (we cannot overstate the deliciousness) - The Mercantile - Yesterday - Southern Charm - Melanie's favorite gumbo recipe - Gran's Strawberry Cake - Buttercream Frosting for Strawberry Cake - Spindrift Orange Mango - Melanie's silk sleeping mask Sponsors: - FabFitFun (promo code BIGBOO for 20% off your first subscription box) - The Big Boo Amazon Shop (affiliate links to help power the engine of ye olde podcast)

Some of our dreams are unusual in the eyes of other people. The dream Allison Deppenbrock pursued is not something most people would even consider, much less accomplish. She’s achieved a very unique endeavor. Allison went to Bayou la Batre (home of Forrest Gump’s shrimping business, Bubba Gump) to attend sea school so she could become a certified boat captain—one of few females who’ve done so. She and her husband wanted to navigate educational vessels for families and children in their home state of Kentucky. For fourteen long, intense days, surrounded by twenty-six male sailors who Allison says fit the stereotype well, she studied. Classes lasted twelve hours each day, where she learned to read charts, memorize flags, and reviewed every detail of a boat’s anatomy. Then she crammed for tests at night, going over the specifics again, leaving room for an average of four hours sleep a night. Tenacity, perseverance, resolve, and commitment were necessities, as Allison pursued this unusual dream. She said, “I had to work it, and I had to work it hard. There were many times I wanted to quit. There were challenges at home, flooding, a dear friend passed, and being the only woman added to the pressure. But I just prayed and prayed and prayed, and pushed through.” If you’ve tended any dream for any length of time, you already know the qualities and mindset Allison demonstrated are necessary for you as well. You have to dig deep to keep making the efforts to succeed. Dream tending requires practical steps, mental fortitude, emotional stability, but you can’t miss the spiritual aspect. It’s like a three-legged stool, if the spiritual leg is broken, the whole piece falls down. We need to make sure our spirits are cared for in the pursuits of our heart’s desires. Support is another crucial part of dream tending. When we have another human being in our lives who gets it, who gets us, can help us keep putting one foot in front of the other. Knowing someone is rooting for us, can drive us forward. Filling Needs: Are you allowing yourself to opt out versus pushing yourself forward? Have you decided in advance not to give up on your dreams—and are you deciding it over again every day? Are you willing to push yourself through the tough stuff to reach a place of celebration? Your dreams can drain you, but in a “good tired” way. When you accomplish something most people haven’t had the guts to try, it’s powerfully energizing. This episode’s Dream Tending Tips: Get out of your own mind and take a risk. Why not you? Allow yourself to imagine what might seem improbable. Try something new. Give something daring a shot. Dare to live! Say to yourself regularly, “I CAN do this!” Be your own advocate. Affirm yourself. Be your own encouraging voice. Refine your raw talents. Do you really want your dream? If you do, then push through and seize it with determination and decision! Once you achieve, don’t rest on your laurels, keep your skills sharp. If you’ve been allowing fear to hold you back—stop now! Give yourself permission to dream. Adam and Mark open this week's episode of Reasonable Doubt talking about ways of encouraging young people to pursue what they're interested in. They then turn to an in-depth discussion about a brand new case Mark took on, representing a security guard that fatally shot and killed a shoplifter at a Walgreens in Hollywood. The guys continue to get into the weeds about everything involving this case and others similar to it as well as discussing a disturbing trend that is changing the behavior of judges in our legal system.
Get your Bubba Gump shrimp cookin’ however you like it! Today we’re talking Forrest Gump, running, and a bit about destiny. This Academy Award winner needed fresh eyes to give it due credit, so we hope you enjoy it. Due to some technical issues, our primary recording track got corrupted, but fortunately we had a backup recording from the computer mic, so the quality isn't quite up to par, but it's definitely listenable -- we apologize! Brandon contributed a brief performance recreated from Alan Silvestri’s theme for this movie for today’s episode.

The 2016 NRA Show in Chiacgo was attended by over 45,000 people. We spent 3 packed days looking for the best products, ideas and inspiration to help you grow your business. There was so much to see - but here are some of the edited highlights. We visit 2 great Chicago restaurants - Nick's Pizza and Pub and Au Cheval with Eric Cacciatore from Restaurant Unstoppable. We finally get to experience the amazing In n Out Burger - the iconic Burger business. What was the surprising thing about Bubba Gump? We discuss some of the reason YOU should go to the NRA show and how it will help you grow your business. There are a lot of suppliers who have a great story - that story can and should become part of your story. It helps create the experience and where there is experience there's margin! We discuss Kimbal Musk from The Kitchen and the way he creates a great story about his suppliers, Denny Post and the importance of a Signature meal- even if it isn't that popular, as well as a great discussion between Jon Taffer from Bar Rescue and Robert Irvine from Restaurant Impossible. Are you doing coffee in your Restaurant? Is it great coffee? What impact would making your restaurant someone's regular coffee spot make to revenue? We talked to the team from Vittoria coffee. (It was easily the best coffee at the show!) The Urban Cultivators look great and if you are creating a fresh and green brand, these are perfect for really highlighting what it is that you are doing for your customers (and how much of a difference would cheap, fresh herbs make?) Why was it we visited the Aussie Pie Kitchen in LA? We also look at Torta Bianca - a great ingredient for your cocktail list. We finish of with esoteric wine varietals and how they can help you with your wine list and profits and lastly a warning about spending the wrong way with your social media marketing. These are ujust some of the examples of what we picked up from the show. If you have an idea for a restaurant in mind, or already have a concept, there are hundreds of ideas and products there that you can find to help to tell a better story, find productivity gains or increase margin with better and more interesting menu items. I have focused too much on productivity, because I am not very good in the kitchen, but I think there was just as many interesting products for HOW you do in the kitchen as there was for WHAT you do in the kitchen. Hope to see you at #NRA 2017 and hope you have a busy night tonight!

One of Marty McDermott’s favorite movies is Forrest Gump. So when we heard Scott Barnett, author of Gumption: Taking Bubba Gump from Movie to Restaurant completed his book; we knew we had to have him on the show. Scott Barnett’s restaurant knowledge began when he was a teenager parking attendant in a popular steakhouse in Palm Desert, California. Taking the hard road, he performed every job there was to do in the business as he cooked, served, and bartended his way through college and crashed into the restaurant industry in his rebellious and irreverent way. Learning the ropes of the corporate world, he nurtured a belief that things in the restaurant business could be done differently. After taking the reins of a failing company, he and his team saved it and then began searching for something to grow. Thus began the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company restaurant concept. Fighting bad economies, old notions of how to do business, preconceived opinions, some Wall Street investors and his own misgivings, he and his group created one of the most successful restaurant companies in the world! Michelle and I met up our friends from Guadalajara Mexico (Pepe, Alondra, Vicky and Christian) to check out the beautiful city of Hong Kong! We Shot this video for 2 days last in 2014! We had so much fun going around Hong Kong! On the first day we (Pepe, Alondra, Michelle and I) bought 4 tickets for "the Big Bus Tour" which took us to all the cool places in Hong Kong! Join Scott Cluthe on FACEBOOK HERE FREE NEWSLETTER HERE Scott Cluthe LIVE tonight with Scott Barnett, founding CEO of the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company restaurants and authjor of the new book, Gumption. Call in LIVE: 347-308-8478 Written in a cinematic style, this book is about the creation, growth, and sale of the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. The concept began when Paramount Pictures reached out to see if there was interest in creating a restaurant based on the movie Forrest Gump. It is also the personal story of the author's growth as a CEO and creator of restaurant concepts. Scott Barnett is the founding CEO of the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company restaurants. He has given talks on service, management techniques, leadership, and financial performance metrics. He has actively consulted with a number of restaurant companies worldwide, and he is a recognized expert on transactions, branding, concept development, and overall operations. He lives in Solana Beach, California.
