Julie Dupas, founder of Amsterdam Amateur Ballet and Morlaix Ballet Camp, is in the studio for this episode! After beginning ballet in her 20s and noticing a lack of performance opportunities for adult ballet dancers, Julie founded Amsterdam Amateur Ballet, an inclusive and affordable amateur adult performance group based in Amsterdam. She also founded international summer camp Morlaix Ballet Camp, in which adult dancers take class, learn and perform a complete ballet alongside professional dancers in the course of eight days. Julie studied jazz as a form of dance for most of her childhood and eventually went on to become a scientist with a PhD in biology. She taught biology for five years before deciding to switch careers, founding two ballet non-profits and working as a pilates instructor.  She joined the studio to discuss how her science background has served her in ballet, how dancers can build strength and flexibility with pilates, and what she hopes adults take away from her classes. She also discussed the anxieties, and ultimately, the benefits of making a mid-career shift and her advice for other adults beginning ballet later in life. Check it out! In episode 66, Genny shared her experience about a retreat she took to Moon Gate Guest House, where she needed to get away; to withdraw into herself and find some clarity. She also spoke about the owners, Jenny and Michel Dupas, who created this soul nurturing place where you “disconnect” from the busy world and grow, heal, and “connect” with yourself and Mother Earth. In episode 71, Genny shared that her biggest joy from that time at Moon Gate Guest House was meeting the owners, Jenny and Michel Dupas. And she had an opportunity to speak with Jenny Dupas about why they created Moon Gate Guest House. Jenny said they felt that people were disconnected from nature, and that they needed to immerse themselves in something different. As soon as they put that out to the universe, the signs appeared and everything flowed from there. They chose the name Moon Gate because, as Jenny explained, the moon is feminine energy. It's much softer, more caring, more nurturing, and so manifesting a name for that opened a space for people to experience that feminine energy. The “gate” came from a vision that Michel had one night, where he saw a gate, and he knew instinctively that an opening or a portal was created. They believe that this portal allows people to come and connect with the land, with themselves and with Mother Nature.https://moongateguesthouse.ca/Instagram: @moon_gate_guest_houseFollow Genny on Instagram at @coffeewithgennybIf you like this episode, buy Genny a coffee athttps://www.buymeacoffee.com/coffeewithgennySee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

O presidente do Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacionais Anísio Teixeira (Inep), Danilo Dupas, pediu demissão do cargo nesta quarta-feira (27).

François-Xavier Dupas, a.k.a. Peter Norris Dupas is the worst type of serial killer -  a man who stalked women for decades and, police suspect, randomly killed six strangers. Convicted of the murders of Nicole Patterson and Margaret Maher he was the prime suspect in the murder of Mersina Halvagis, stabbed to death in 1997 in the Fawkner Cemetery tending her grandmother’s grave. It would take homicide investigators Jeff Maher and Paul Scarlett 13 years, two trials and a shock witness to get their man. This is the inside story on the pursuit of Peter Dupas and the fight for justice for Mersina Halvagis. Andrew Fraser, a lawyer police loved to hate, would become the star witness. We hear from Fraser, the police and the prosecutors on the 13 year journey that led to Dupas’ conviction and life sentence. Thanks for listening. On April 22 of 1999, Peter Dupas was arrested for the brutal murder of Nicole Patterson. The only thing more shocking than the details of the crime, however, is the trail of terror that Dupas left in his path. What happens when the criminal justice system fails to recognize a dangerous predator? Just how many victims suffered at the hands of Peter Dupas? This is True Crimecast.

Murder in the Land of Oz

Peter Dupas is one of the most horrific and violent serial killers in Australian history. When Nicole Patterson’s brutally mutilated body was discovered on April 19, 1999, the police followed a trail of breadcrumbs that led them to Peter Dupas’ door. The sheer brutality of Nicole’s murdered indicated to police that she was not Dupas’ first victim, so they cracked open the cold case files and looked backwards to any cases that contained Dupas’ horrific signature – the removal of his victim’s breasts.Peter Dupas was convicted for the murders of Nicole Patterson, Margaret Maher, and Mersina Halvagis. He is a suspect in a further three murders. Peter Dupas was a violent offender with a long history of violent crimes against women spanning back to the 1970s.Margaret Maher and Mersina Halvagis were both murdered in 1997, a year after Peter Dupas had been released from prison following a charge of false imprisonment after he had violently attacked a woman and held her at knifepoint. Their cases were unsolved for nearly two years. He was convicted of both murders, appealed both, and was successfully granted a retrial for the case of Mersina Halvagis, which occurred in 2010 and resulted, again, with Dupas being found guilty. For nearly forty years Dupas was allowed to terrorise women in Victoria as he was released time and time again for rapes that eventually escalated into murder.Countless police officers and psychologists identified that Peter Dupas had a violent hatred of women and was pathologically unable to stop committing these crimes. Without question, three women would still be alive today if the system had kept Dupas behind bars. Some sources for your pleasure:Firstly, you can check out the solid Murderpedia entry here http://murderpedia.org/male.D/d/dupas-peter.htm?fbclid=IwAR2YwQeZkoORiu0TCH9HdJgbUvfQcFowcu7Y6w477enhs4hIwOKS4RsSbAsSome real serious journalism about the case can be found here – a long and thorough read https://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/law-order/vicious-serial-killer-peter-dupas-is-the-beast-who-roamed-free-to-rape-and-kill/news-story/014c7a49bf30d3f5c6faed428e9ab594?sv=8ea58f1eec4dbaca64eecb832283c27f&fbclid=IwAR1-Hd7i5WUBjHRgBzvK9OZa2Sp8HZlmDrXJszROyzGVPscYNG8dNGihLaYIf you prefer to watch your facts, you can’t go past a slightly dodgy rip of Crimes That Shocked Australia on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gc3prjwa_Tc&fbclid=IwAR2q4fcni4v7d1iDzp2oCWcH83PLnNCSwll-Thido7iIFL6GFyllUy-x0d8Do you think we should have a book club?
