It’s a different sort of episode(s) this week.
Movies that change cinema often come from outsiders – whether it's Orson Welles making Citizen Kane or George Lucas making Star Wars a.k.a. Episode IV: A New Hope. The excellent graphic novel Lucas Wars by artist Renaud Roche and writer Laurent Hopman just came out in English (the original French title is Les Guerres de Lucas.) I talk with Renaud and Laurent about why the making of Star Wars was such a long shot, and how the production changed the lives of everyone involved. Plus, we discuss the unsung heroes who helped make Star Wars happen -- like Lucas's ex wife Marcia and studio mogul Alan Ladd Jr. Imaginary Worlds was just nominated for a Signal Award for Best Arts & Culture podcast! That also means the show is eligible for a Listener's Choice Award. You can vote for the show at vote.signalawards.com. The deadline is October 9th. Thank you! n this episode of Bantha Milk Podcast, James and Rob put their lightsabers where their mouths are and make the case for Star Wars: A New Hope as the best film in the entire saga. From iconic characters and groundbreaking effects to the storytelling that launched a galaxy far, far away — they're diving deep into why Episode IV still holds up as the gold standard of Star Wars. Was it George Lucas's original vision that makes it untouchable? Is it the raw charm of 1977 filmmaking? Or maybe it's just nostalgia...? Whether you're a prequel purist, an Empire enthusiast, or ride hard for the sequels — this is one episode you don't want to miss. Agree? Disagree? Let the debates begin!

Skywalking Through Neverland: A Star Wars / Disney Fan Podcast
Just when we thought we found all the actors who've played Darth Vader, another emerges. Tom Bewley was the first actor to portray the Dark Lord of the Sith on screen after Return of the Jedi. He appeared in the Frank Oz-directed 1985 film, The Indian in the Cupboard. In his very first podcast interview, Tom opens up with never-before-heard stories from behind the mask. He shares what it was like stepping into Vader's boots for The Indian in the Cupboard, his duel with the Energizer Bunny in a now-legendary commercial, memories from the Star Wars 10th Anniversary convention preshow with George Lucas, and plenty more surprises. TODAY in Star Wars History 9/16/1977 48 years ago... ABC aired The Making of Star Wars as Told by C-3PO and R2-D2, an hour-long special hosted by R2-D2 and Anthony Daniels as C-3PO. Coming in the same month as Donny & Marie, Richard Pryor, and Saturday morning Star Wars previews, the special stood out by placing R2 and 3PO in a futuristic Star Wars setting to share behind-the-scenes stories. It was a clever move—fans didn't have to wait for The Empire Strikes Back to get “new” Star Wars, all thanks to Charlie Lippincott's promotional vision. Another live panel from Dragon Con - Bryan Young took the stage with Matthew Wood, Henry Gilroy, and Fon Davis to talk about the legacy George Lucas left behind with Industrial Light and Magic, Skywalker Sound, and Lucasiflm Animation in front of a live audience.
May the Force be with you! Always.Let op! Maak de opname over 'The Empire Strikes Back' met Dirk Brossé, Alex Agnew en Fokke van der Meulen live mee in Flagey, op 20/09. He is responsible for Star Wars comics becoming a reality with Marvel! The Force will be with him, always.
Created by George Lucas, produced by Lucasfilm, and distributed by 20th Century Fox, the original Star Wars trilogy serves as the second act of the nine-episode Skywalker Saga. George Lucas directed Star Wars, with Irvin Kershner and Richard Marquand directing the sequels respectively. Jason and Rob rewind in this special 100th episode to review the space opera trilogy that started it all - Star Wars (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), and Return of the Jedi (1983). The trilogy of films centres on the Galactic Civil War between the Rebel Alliance and the tyrannical Galactic Empire, as well as the hero's journey of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in his quest to become a Jedi under the tutelage of exiled Jedi Masters Obi-Wan Kenobi (Alec Guinness) and Yoda (Frank Oz). Luke joins forces with Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Chewbacca (Peter Mayhew), C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), R2-D2 (Kenny Baker), and the Rebel Alliance in facing the Empire and the evil Sith Lord Darth Vader (David Prowse / James Earl Jones).

Dimitri and Khalid embark on a wide-ranging quest to uncover the true nature and function of the STAR WARS ritual complex in the Late American Empire, including: The murky influence of sus Joseph Campbell and the 1974 Stanford Research Institute report “Changing Images of Man”, “THX-1138” and Bay Area mind control programs, whether Star Wars was George Lucas's sublimated Vietnam War film, Star Wars as the dominant mythopoetic cult of the post-1960s American Empire, the Esalen roots of the Jedi pseudo-religion, Disney's domestic gladio utilization of Star Wars with a Thousand Faces, whether “Andor” is a heckin' leftist masterpiece, George Lucas' curious early work as an Altamont cameraman (and likely stint at Lookout Mountain AFB making internal government films), and much more… For access to premium SJ episodes, upcoming installments of DEMON FORCES, and the Grotto of Truth Discord, become a subscriber at https://patreon.com/subliminaljihad.

In this episode of The Filmumentaries Podcast, I talk with James Kahn, the novelist behind some of the most iconic movie novelizations of the 1980s, including Return of the Jedi, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, The Goonies, and Poltergeist. James shares how a chance encounter while working as an ER doctor in Santa Monica led him onto the set of ET: The Extra-Terrestrial, where he met Kathleen Kennedy and Steven Spielberg, an opportunity that set his writing career in motion. We discuss:How James went from emergency medicine to Hollywood writerHis early break writing the Poltergeist novelizationThe creative freedom Spielberg gave him on Temple of Doom, The Goonies, and othersWriting Return of the Jedi under intense secrecy — including how George Lucas gave him a decoy script where Luke kills the EmperorInventing backstory details that became “canon” for decades, like Ben and Owen being brothers and hints about Anakin's fall into the lava pitsGiving Short Round his own chapter and exploring Mikey's POV in The GooniesHow his books helped fans relive these films long before home videoWhy a great novelization is about more than retelling a screenplayHis recent memoir, A Jedi Memoir: A Double Life, weaving together stories from Hollywood and emergency medicineIf you grew up with these books, this one's packed with insights, behind-the-scenes stories, and moments of movie history you probably didn't know. Skywalking Through Neverland: A Star Wars / Disney Fan Podcast
In Part 4 of our Rebel Scum Con experience, we go behind the scenes with MORE talented artists who gave life to a few of our favorite Star Wars characters. We sat down with Toby Philpott, one of the puppeteers behind the massive Jabba the Hutt. From controlling Jabba's grotesque expressions to (maybe?) licking Princess Leia, his stories from the set are not only fascinating but filled with tips and tricks for any aspiring puppeteers out there. Next up, Femi Taylor, who played the ill-fated (but always fabulous) Oola, shares her experience on the set of RETURN OF THE JEDI. She dives into what it was like returning to the role years later and how the character still connects with fans today.. And if that wasn't cool enough, Howie Weed gives us a detailed look at his time inside the suit of the terrifying Wampa, and shares his experience with George Lucas directing! Howie even drops a hint or two about the Wampa's survival odds after that little run-in with Luke Skywalker. Each guest was incredibly generous with their time and insights, offering a mix of behind-the-scenes stories, performance techniques, and even a dash of "what if" when it comes to the fate of their characters. We couldn't get enough. Each interview is also available separately on our YouTube channel—subscribe here. Rebel Scum Con, held August 8-10, 2025 is a fan-run event which means the organizers knew exactly what we wanted! Throughout the next month we are sharing ALL that content, so look up episode 525 to and 526 for more interviews. TODAY in Star Wars History 9/2/2014 11 years ago... Star Wars: A New Dawn, written by John Jackson Miller with a foreword by Dave Filoni, was released by Del Rey. Serving as a prequel to Star Wars Rebels, it holds the distinction of being the very first novel in the official new Star Wars canon. We celebrated the book's 10th anniversary back in episode 481—well worth a listen if you missed it! SPONSORS Small World Vacations is an official sponsor of Skywalking Through Neverland.
