In this episode of The Franciska Show, host Franciska discusses the complexities and behind-the-scenes efforts involved in helping women, known as agunot, who are unable to obtain a religious divorce (get) from their husbands. The episode features interviews with Jennifer Lankin, Interim CEO at ORA (Organization for the Resolution of Agunot), and Ezra Stone, a private investigator who specializes in tracking down recalcitrant husbands who refuse to grant their wives a get. Jennifer shares her journey into this work and explains ORA's community-focused approach to addressing get refusal. Ezra offers insights from his fieldwork, describing some of the challenges and strategies involved in locating and pressuring these husbands to comply with religious and legal obligations. The episode encapsulates the importance of community response, the use of private investigators in protracted cases, and the critical role that social culture and public pressure play in resolving these deeply rooted issues.   00:00 Introduction and Announcements 01:50 Special Guests: Ezra Stone and Jennifer Lankin 02:12 Jennifer Lincoln's Journey and Insights 03:54 Ezra Stone: The Private Investigator 05:57 The Role of Private Investigators in Get Refusal Cases 10:19 Challenges in Tracking Down Recalcitrant Spouses 11:36 Case Study: The Search for Naftali Shabani 22:24 Unexpected Encounters and Travel Stories 22:56 Investigative Techniques and Challenges 23:08 The Case of the Recalcitrant Brother 26:59 Legal and Ethical Considerations 27:56 Creative PI Strategies 29:02 The Big Daddy of Get Refusers 36:56 Social Media and Influencers 39:38 Security Issues in the Jewish Community 44:16 Closing Remarks and Reflections   www.instagram.com/oraagunot   About our Guests: Ezra Stone is a licensed private investigator in both the USA and Israel, who specializes in sensitive cases within the Orthodox Jewish community. “Don't have sex. You will get pregnant — and die.” This line was delivered by a fictional high school coach in the movie Mean Girls, but it alludes to a real problem within the education system: that the vast majority of U.S. states don't teach medically accurate or inclusive sex education. Dr. Jennifer Lincoln, an OBGYN and author, is trying to change that. Instead of scaring or shaming people, she's meeting them where they are and setting the record straight, starting with the vulva. January 22nd marks the 50th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court case that codified the right to an abortion. But this year on January 22nd, we'll largely remember this anniversary as the one that wasn't. For 49 years, Roe helped to allow people who could become pregnant decide what was best for them and their families, but on June 24th, 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health. Since then, bans on abortion have taken effect in 13 states, and courts have blocked abortion bans in 9 others, according to the New York Times abortion ban tracker, though this is constantly changing. On this anniversary episode, we are going to look at the reality that people are facing in a post-Roe America, both those seeking care and those providing it. Without Roe, a key component of reproductive care has become illegal or restricted for more than 20 million people, throwing many into painful and life-threatening situations. We are joined by Community Organizer, Kaitlyn Joshua, who experienced firsthand how new restrictions on abortion endanger the lives and wellbeing of pregnant people and Dr. Jennifer Lincoln, an ob/gyn, reproductive health educator, author, and Executive Director of Mayday Health, an organization focused on providing information on abortion access and options for people, regardless of where they live.

Dr. Jennifer Lincoln has become a tik Tok phenomenon. With 2.8 million followers, she's demystifying sex and taking the shame out of the conversations surrounding sex ed that our youth really need to be having and hearing. Tackling everything from periods, to puberty, to body parts, she's working hard to stop the stigmas and spread the real message that this is all natural and normal. Danielle asks all her questions as a mom of tweens and teens, and both sons and a daughter. How do we make our households a place that naturally makes these discussions and topics more comfortable? What do our kids really need to know before going off to college or wherever they might go after leaving the nest? Is there really an "age" when it's finally appropriate to have "the talk" or teach the real language for body parts and bodily functions? Dr. Lincoln tells it all exactly as it is, and makes us all feel more like we can feel good about tackling these topics. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Human beings have been practicing birth control for thousands of years. Today, there are dozens of different contraceptives available, many of which are highly effective and increasingly convenient to access. However, there's still room for improvement, and the future of birth control promises to be fascinating. It's becoming increasingly high-tech, and an equivalent of the birth control pill for men appears to be on the horizon. So let's talk about it! My guest today is Dr. Jennifer Lincoln, a board-certified OB-GYN and author of the book, Let's Talk About Down There: An OBGYN Answers All Your Burning Questions Without Making You Feel Embarrassed for Asking. Jennifer also runs a popular sex ed channel on TikTok (@drjenniferlincoln) with more than two million followers. In this episode, we discuss the future of birth control, common contraception myths, and how to choose the method that's right for you. Specifically, we explore: How are the birth control options available to women likely to change in the future, both in terms of methods and accessibility? Why hasn't there been a lot of research to date in the area of male birth control? What does the future of birth control for men look like? What are the most promising methods in development? Will future birth control methods also offer protection against STIs? How reliable is the pull-out or withdrawal method in preventing pregnancy? Are condoms really 98% effective at pregnancy prevention? Do you have to take birth control pills at the same time every day in order for them to work? Do you need to take occasional breaks from hormonal birth control to let your body "reset?" With all of the options available, how do you choose the contraceptive that's right for you? Check it out! There is a huge industry built around making women feel insecure about their genitals in order to sell them so-called "feminine hygiene products." They've convinced many women that their vaginas and vulvas are "dirty" and in need of constant cleaning. But is it even healthy to use these products? And what do you really need to know when it comes to maintaining vaginal health? I spoke with a gynecologist to find out--and to bust some common myths about vaginas and vulvas. What should and shouldn't be part of a vaginal and vulvar self-care routine? What should you do if you're concerned about the smell or taste of your genitals? What's the safest way to remove pubic hair to avoid risk of injury and infection? Can a doctor actually tell if a woman has had sex by inspecting her genitals? Do vaginas really become "looser" with frequent sex? Is it really true that if you have an STI, you'll know it? How do you boost low sexual desire? Check it out! Plus, did you know that labiaplasty is fastest rising cosmetic surgery worldwide? Many people with vaginas are getting them nipped and tucked and we what to know WHY? In a poll of more than 3,600 readers, the online women's magazine Refinery29 found that almost half (48%) had concerns about the appearance of their vulva. Of those, 64% were worried about the size and 60% about the shape of their vulva, with almost one-third (30%) worried about the colour of their genitals. And I think it comes down to thinking that our vulva isn't "normal" well, before you make that assumption, have a look at these vulva positive influencers who can educate you on what "normal" actually looks like...
