‘Ghost Adventures' Star's Estranged Wife Gets Up to 7½ Years for Murder-for-Hire Plot A Las Vegas judge has sentenced Victoria Goodwin — the estranged wife of “Ghost Adventures” investigator Aaron Goodwin — to three to seven-and-a-half years in state prison for plotting to have the reality-TV star murdered. Judge Nadia Krall handed down the 36- to 90-month term on Thursday, June 5, after the 32-year-old tearfully admitted that she conspired with convicted family killer Grant Amato to arrange a contract hit on her husband. Goodwin pleaded guilty in April to a single count of conspiracy to commit murder, part of a deal that spared her the possibility of a longer sentence on additional solicitation charges. Prosecutors said she began exchanging letters, phone calls, and illicit text messages with Amato in early 2024, shortly after she saw him featured in the Paramount+ docuseries Ctrl + Alt + Desire. Amato is serving life in a Florida prison for the 2019 slayings of his parents and brother. According to police testimony, prison staff found a contraband cellphone in Amato's possession last winter. The device contained dozens of messages from Victoria that included the couple's Las Vegas address, Aaron Goodwin's daily routine, and a proposed “payment plan” for the killing. “Am I a bad person because I chose to end his existence, not divorce?” she wrote in one exchange, investigators told the court. Detectives informed Aaron Goodwin of the alleged plot only after his wife's arrest on March 6. The 49-year-old cinematographer — a regular on Discovery's long-running paranormal series — filed for divorce within days and began traveling with armed security. “For seven years I thought I was in the most loving marriage with my best friend,” he told the court, choking back tears. “Now I'll never feel safe again.” Addressing the bench, Aaron said Victoria had “spent almost all our savings” trying to keep the scheme secret while carrying on what prosecutors described as an “emotional and spiritual marriage” with Amato. “The fact that this person did all this to me with no care or love in her heart — I will never be the same,” he said, urging Krall to impose prison time. Victoria, shackled and wearing jail attire, offered an equally emotional apology moments before sentencing. “I recognize my stupidity and the terrible crime against Aaron,” she sobbed. “I pray you find joy and peace again, and I promise you'll never see or hear from me.” She also apologized to the court, calling the plot her “rock bottom.” Deputy District Attorney Jillian Strout countered that the apology rang hollow, noting that Victoria never tried to halt the plan until law enforcement intervened. “She provided location, timing, and payment details; the wheels were in motion,” Strout said, adding that an unidentified accomplice outside the prison was prepared to carry out the killing. Amato has not been charged in Nevada, though authorities say their investigation remains open. Defense attorney Brandon Albright asked for probation, pointing to Victoria's “severe mental-health struggles” and the fact that the murder was never actually attempted. Judge Krall rejected the request. “This was not a fantasy,” she said. “The steps taken moved this crime from thought to preparation.” Krall imposed the maximum term allowed under the plea agreement, ordering Victoria to serve at least three years before she is eligible for parole and to have no contact with Aaron. The couple married in August 2022 after dating for several years. Court filings show their relationship began to fracture in late 2023 amid allegations that Victoria was involved with “multiple men,” including Amato. Aaron told reporters outside the courthouse that he is undergoing therapy “to process the betrayal” and hopes to focus on new paranormal projects once the divorce is finalized. “I'm grateful to the fans who have reached out,” he said. “Their support reminds me that there are still good people out there.” Victoria Goodwin was led from the courtroom by marshals to begin her sentence at the Florence McClure Women's Correctional Center. Back for a second time, Katie Krall is an adjunct lecturer at Northwestern in the Master's of Sports Administration Program teaching “Sports Business: Finance, Accounting, and Economics,” “Sports Organizations: Leadership Theory and Application,” and “Sports Performance and Front Office Operations” and at Medill where she teaches “Sports Marketing.” Katie was previously the Senior Product Manager of Global Baseball Strategy at Hawk-Eye Innovations, a division of Sony Sports Business where she spearheaded development of new products that leveraged biomechanics, player tracking, bat, and ball flight data. Krall spent 2022 as a Development Coach with the Boston Red Sox where she oversaw pitch design, advance scouting and integrating data into player plans. She also was part of the Global Strategy team at Google focusing on Google Workspace after two seasons with the Cincinnati Reds as a Baseball Operations Analyst, a position that combined the worlds of roster construction, analytics, and scouting. After receiving her undergraduate degree at Northwestern, Katie worked for a year and a half at Major League Baseball in the Commissioner's Office in New York City as a League Economics & Operations Coordinator. At MLB, Krall advised Clubs on 40-man roster management, MLB rules and compliance, major league administration, and salary arbitration. In addition to her academic work at Northwestern Katie received her MBA from the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business.

Wiz RECOMMENDS Star Trek Beyond Whereas the 2009 Reboot and Star Trek Into Darkness made characters one of it's key focuses, Star Trek Beyond decides on a more comfortable, if not safe, route in storytelling. Star Trek Beyond feels much more like a popcorn action flick where the characters and their developments are simple and thin. They basically feel more like The Next Generation movies: the depth was in previous stories, this is just them on a new adventure. Now, in this instance I was already familiar with the characters, so enjoying these characters wasn't anywhere near as hard. But it feels like a huge step back when you get to know characters like Kirk and Spock in this iteration. But since this is a popcorn movie, that means no other characters get added depth to make them feel more fleshed out. They are as they were in the previous two films. This also is doubly true with the companion Jaylah, played by Sofia Boutella and the villain Krall, played in heavy makeup by Idris Elba. Neither character is interesting in anyway, but they also don't exactly hurt the film...they are just there to move the plot along. But as a popcorn movie, Star Trek Beyond is solid. Action sequences are fun with some good visuals. Set pieces are well done enough to keep the viewer entertained. But the planet the film is based on (a planet I can't even bother to remember the name of) is also not that interesting and just feels like a slab of rocks and non-descript mountains. Finally, the film goes on a little too long for its own good. At about two hours, you'd think that it's the right amount of time for a Star Trek film since many of them hit that mark or even higher. But the lack of character development and growth just means it meanders into more exposition to get into action sequences. If I'm being honest, Star Trek Beyond is a fine enough time to kill two hours. But compared to the reboot and Into Darkness, it's a marked step down when it comes to characters and story.

En 2018 se incorporó en Uruguay la figura del asistente personal a través del Sistema de Cuidados, con la intención de que atendieran a personas en situación de dependencia en su ámbito íntimo. Sin embargo, aunque no se pensó para eso, rápidamente lo adoptó el sistema educativo. Es que entre los desafíos múltiples que tiene la educación, uno particularmente complejo es el trabajo con niños y adolescentes que tienen dependencia severa o moderada. Es complejo para los educadores, para los otros alumnos, para madres y padres del grupo, y para los propios involucrados. Por eso las asistentes personales parecían una vía para liberar presión. Pero, lo dicho: es una figura que no se creó con ese objetivo, y si bien con los años la comunidad educativa aceptó y le dio valor a las asistentes, desde el gobierno se entendió que se debía dar un paso más. Dos semanas atrás, la dirección de Cuidados del Ministerio de Desarrollo Social presentó un cambio en cómo se trabajará de ahora en adelante en el aula: se creó el puesto de Facilitador de Autonomía en Ámbitos Educativos, que se puso en práctica en principio en una veintena de escuelas con un rol más específicamente de apoyo pedagógico. ¿Qué significa este cambio?  Conversamos En Perspectiva con la directora nacional de Cuidados, Florencia Krall.

The DuPont firm was a leader in workplace and community safety communications during the twentieth century. This had been baked into the company culture from the first, as gunpowder manufacturing made essential. What changed over time were the techniques and media of communication, and the intended audience targeted by the company's messaging. In her latest research, Madison Krall, assistant professor of communication studies at Seton Hall University, explores the wealth of health and safety materials generated by the DuPont company during the twentieth century. From posters to motion pictures, the firm deployed a wide array of media to promote safety in the workplace and beyond. DuPont wished to convince the public that its products were safe, and to convince employees and community members that safety was their responsibility.
