Eccoci qui, a un anno esatto dall'introduzione del tanto decantato "supporto formazione e lavoro", l'ennesima panacea del governo Meloni per risolvere il problema della disoccupazione. Di questo strumento miracoloso sappiamo praticamente nulla. Mentre il reddito di cittadinanza veniva costantemente messo sotto la lente d'ingrandimento, accusato di ogni male possibile, il suo sostituto naviga nell'oblio più totale. La trasparenza tanto sbandierata si è persa nei meandri della burocrazia, o forse qualcuno ha deciso che meno si sa, meglio è. I numeri parlano chiaro: 96.161 beneficiari in dieci mesi. Un risultato che fa impallidire persino il tanto criticato reddito di cittadinanza. Il vero capolavoro è l'assenza totale di dati su quanti abbiano effettivamente trovato lavoro. La ministra Calderone si vanta di 11 mila assunzioni, ma da gennaio è calato il silenzio. I numeri non sono così lusinghieri come si vorrebbe far credere. Ci raccontano che la povertà è in calo, ma l'ISTAT ci svela che il "supporto formazione e lavoro" non ha contribuito minimamente a questo risultato. Anzi, ha persino peggiorato la distribuzione dei redditi. Un capolavoro di inettitudine, non c'è che dire. Il colpo da maestro è la spesa: 107,6 milioni di euro in nove mesi, contro i 122,5 milioni previsti per il solo 2023. Un risparmio che fa gola al governo, certo, ma sulla pelle di chi sta cercando disperatamente di sbarcare il lunario. In questo teatro dell'assurdo, l'unica certezza è che il governo Meloni ha creato un mostro burocratico ancora più opaco e inefficace del suo predecessore. Un bluff colossale. As the Boston City Council debates Mayor Wu's $4.6 billion fiscal budget for 2025, they have proposed amendments totaling $30 million, $18 million of which would be police cuts. Larry Calderone, president of the Boston Police Patrolmen's Association, says talks of defunding the police at a time when social unrest is high and police departments are having a tough time retaining officers, is “absurdly irresponsible for the citizens of Boston. The Boston City Council passed a $4.2 billion operating budget that includes a nearly $31 million reduction in Boston Police Department funds. Boston Police Patrolmen's Association President Larry Calderone expressed his disappointment by stating, “Sadly, we continue to see Councilors proudly displaying their anti-police bias while exploiting the budget process to hurt the very same families and neighborhoods they claim to represent.” Calderone joined Dan for a discussion.

Calderone worked as a newspaper editor and reporter for more than twenty-five years, including covering City Hall for New York Newsday. While with Newsday, he was a member of a team of reporters that won a Pulitzer Prize for Local Reporting. He is a long-time adjunct instructor at New York University's Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute, where he teaches investigative reporting. He considers himself fortunate to have attended Holy Cross High School in Flushing, Queens, and he holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in United States history from the University of Maryland at College Park.
