What does it truly mean to love someone through their darkest moments? In this episode of Our Community, Our Mission, Mike Schoettle, TRM's Director of Spiritual Wellness and Discipleship, explores the transformative idea of “Loving in the Gap.” The gap is the space where people find themselves trapped in homelessness, addiction, or trauma. Instead of offering help from a distance, true ministry means stepping into that space, walking alongside others with patience, dignity, and compassion.Guided by TRM's seven biblical pillars, this conversation shows that loving in the gap is not about quick fixes but about unconditional acceptance and recognizing the image of God in every person. Practical acts such as meals, shelter, and case management become living expressions of a deeper truth: every life is worth standing with, no matter how difficult the journey. This same theme of Loving in the Gap will shape TRM's Night of Praise happening this Friday, September 12, at 6:30 p.m. at Fellowship Bible Church. It will be an evening of worship, gratitude, and community you will not want to miss.To learn more about Night of Praise, Click Here!To support TRM, Click Here! Send us a Message!

Pray for One Another in Our Race Issues and Go Make a Difference in Our Communities; Jesus Followers Are Here for Times Like This MESSAGE SUMMARY: With regards to our race issues, it will NOT be through political parties, rallies, elections, slogans, or marches that our attitudes and practices are changed or the souls of our nations are converted. Rather, the deep change, which we all need, will only be through a spiritual awakening. This spiritual awakening will come only from repentance – the turning away from our sin and toward God and his righteous ways in Jesus Christ. As Jesus commanded us in John 5:12: “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you.”. Also, in John 13:34-35, Jesus commanded us: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”. Jesus' “one another” is all inclusive and not just those that look like you and/or of your culture. The Bible makes it unequivocally clear that we are all made in the image of God (Genesis 1:27): “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”. You can start real “racial change” right where you are -- in your own heart first and then in your own relationship with God. At that point, you can then lead the change your own community -- one person at a time; one relationship at a time; and one act a time. You can reach out and build a relationship with someone different than you. However, doing nothing is no longer an option for us. Let us pray for one another about these things and let us get out and make a difference in our local communities. God has placed us here for such a time as this. TODAY'S PRAYER: Lord, fill me with the simple trust that even out of the most awful evil around me, you are able to bring great good — for me, for others, and for your great glory. In Jesus' name, amen. Scazzero, Peter. Emotionally Healthy Spirituality Day by Day (p. 91). Zondervan. Kindle Edition. TODAY'S AFFIRMATION: Today, because I am filled with the Holy Spirit, I will not be controlled by my Insensitivity. Rather, I will walk in the Spirit's fruit of Gentleness. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22f). Citing plastics in our bodies, tainted and under-regulated drinking water and the other toxins we and our families experience daily, Dr. Aly Cohen motivates us to prioritize what's important to us. We can walk through her 21-day program as outlined in her new book, Detoxify, or just listen to her guidance here and take the next step to health without having to move to a deserted island! We'll wrap up the episode by sharing how Dr. Cohen's client lost weight from reducing toxins from his daily life, and we'll also talk Teflon and keeping an open mind! When Dr. Aly Cohen's golden retriever got a very rare autoimmune hepatitis diagnosis 15 years ago, she started to explore environmental toxins and their health impacts. As a practicing rheumatologist, she'd noticed increasing rates of autoimmune diseases in younger patients with no family history, suggesting environmental factors might be at play. Dr. Cohen (no relation!) became an expert in toxins and now helps us navigate guarding our health against these assaults on our bodies… in a positive, doable way! Does your partner think mindset work is “extra” or “unnecessary”?You're all in. You see how much confidence coaching helps your daughter and you're ready to invest in her growth. But your partner? Not so sure. Maybe they think she's too young. Maybe they see it as just another expense. Maybe they just don't get it.In this episode, I'm walking you through how to handle it when your partner's not on the same page – and how to keep showing up anyway. Here's what we talk about:✅ Why mindset work isn't just another “nice-to-have”✅ How to talk to a skeptical partner (without starting a fight)✅ Real-life stories that help it all make sense✅ The difference mental training makes beyond sports✅ How moms often carry the emotional load and what to do with that✅ Why waiting for a crisis isn't the move✅ What to say when your spouse just doesn't see the value (yet)✅ Encouragement if you're doing this solo (you're not alone)✅ Simple next steps you can take right now
