A Kiwi actress is making waves on international screens. Luciane Buchanan began her rise to fame in her teens, but it was the last few years where her career really took off. The 31 year old was cast in Netflix and Apple TV+ shows in 2022, but her lead role in Netflix's ‘The Night Agent' made her a household name. ‘The Night Agent' was the most watched show on Netflix around the world in 2023, reaching number 1 in 87 countries. Buchanan told Ryan Bridge that the sheer number of people watching the show kind of freaked her out, as totalled up, there's been over 100,000 years worth of viewing for season one. “It's a little bit overwhelming, but it's also exciting to be a part of something that a lot of people enjoyed, so I can't complain.” LISTEN ABOVE See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

So, I will just say this- Warm up your cups kids and welcome into your lubricated earlobes Coach, Mentor, Author of "A Life Coaching Approach to Screen Acting", Actor and Comedian Daniel Dresner and his business partner/ co-founder of Actors Coaching international- Actor,Coach, CEO and Lead Agent at Union Management Danny Clifton.  In the episode we talk about:  Actors Coaching International- How it came to be, the business of it (Where it is and Where it is going), Mentoring/ Coaching Styles and What sets Actors Coaching apart from competitors like Go Hub Workshops, Identity, MN Talent or organisations such as NYT, Sylvia Plath, Lamda or RADA or Central. Demystifying the role of an actor and agent or a business owner. You approaches to Life coaching and has it developed through the years do you feel? Or has the need of it developed do you feel? 3 things the industry could do with and without 3 things you wish somebody would have told you starting out that you would like to impart on talent in the industry.  One thing you would like for people to take with them after experiencing you. Thoughts on Authenticity vs representation of a role vs story and should specifity be reflect beind the scenes. i.e A story about a Trans Italian Activist- Should the role be played by someone of that community and should the crew represent aspects of that?   Thoughts on POC Actors on books.  Advice on writing a cover letter to agents, being in the room for an audition, the practicality of attaining a job and working on the role.  Thoughts on digital space structure and its role in the artists life. From Magic Mike to comparing his coaching styles between Jonathan Ross and Graham Norton. This episode is spilling the most-- with the one and only Daniel Dresner.  Daniel has been in the industry for over 20 years, starting off as a stand-up comedian, actor and theatre director in Tokyo, Japan. He then studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York and worked as an actor there for six years, returning to London in 2001 to act, coach and teach. He coaches actors, directors, writers, producers, singers, and production companies as well as the odd publisher and yoga instructor. He also, teaches privately in venerable institutions around the globe and here in London at the Actors Centre, the Guildhall, London Actors Workshop and Drama Studio London. I also run presentation skills, assertiveness and personal impact training workshops for corporates. Before entering a career in the entertainment industry, he was a divisional manager for a large office automation multinational with responsibility for sales, marketing and operations. Since leaving this corporate world, in around 20 or so years he has acted in well over one hundred films, TV shows, plays, commercials and various voice roles in London, New York City, Tokyo and all around the world. He is a former board member of Player Playwrights and founder member of the Actors Screen Collective, London as well as being an associate director of Spoken Word Ltd. This is on top of running his own coaching business, teaching and running corporate workshops.   In the episode we talk about:  About his book- “A Life Coaching Approach to Screen Acting” (https://www.bloomsbury.com/uk/lifecoaching-approach-to-screen-acting-9781350039438/)  His experience in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute.  If actors need an education and institution to enter the industry. Becoming a Coach and finding a niche. In Specific, the entertainment industry. His style as a coach. What the community of Coaches is like. Is their support or competitiveness?  His experience on working with organisations such as player player playwrights, Actors Screen Collective and Spoken word ltd.  The Facebook Community he set up during Covid 1- Daniel Dresner Coaching Actors. Which facilitated actors out of work and in a dark space— a place to connect and learn (https://www.facebook.com/groups/danieldresnercoachingactors) His work at the Actors Centre to now creating Actors Coaching International.  Advice for Actors on success and the rabbit hole of complications.  Discuss the art of networking, marketing and business of the industry.  Discuss a chapter of his book on the “Saboteur” the voice that says You Cannot.  Social: Myself: https://www.instagram.com/chaiwithrai_/  Guest: https://www.instagram.com/danieldresnercoaching/  Links: Myself: https://linktr.ee/chaiwithrai_  Guest: https://www.danieldresner.com/ Hope you all enjoyed it and Thank you for tuning in. Join Scott and Mark with their guest, Rachel Redleaf, as they talk about auditioning for screen acting gigs in-person and online. Rachel is an actor, a coach, and a singer best known for her roles as Mama Cass in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time In Hollywood and Beth Chapin in Atypical. Soon, she will also appear as young Alma Fillcot in the second season of Paramount's Why Women Kill, definitely a show to die for. But today, Rachel will be sharing her story, from discovering her passion for acting growing up to landing several roles on film and TV since then. Auditions Amid the Pandemic When asked about the audition process, Rachel touched on how auditioning for screen acting gigs changed since COVID began. Usually, she would go to an audition in person but only had one chance to get it right. And if she doesn't hear back from the casting director in three days, it often means she didn't get the part, which is incredibly disheartening when someone's just a novice. But now, auditions are done either via Zoom calls or pre-recorded submissions called ‘self-tapes.' As much of a hassle as it may seem, Rachel still appreciates the freedom of creativity self-tapes provide. After all, with video submissions, you can do as many takes as you want and still take time to choose which one to send in. Then again, what Rachel loves about self-tapes is that it gives her a chance to truly get in character, whether through their clothing or even props available at home. And if you are looking to get into screen acting as well, listen to today's episode of Amigospc, where Rachel Redleaf gives some advice on how to audition at the comfort of your own home. Acting Is Not All Glitz and Glamour Once you make it into the entertainment industry, most people believe it's all fame and fortune from there. Even the hosts thought the same when they asked Rachel what her life was like after appearing as Beth Chapin in Atypical. But to their surprise, Rachel's experience working for Netflix while going to college was not all glitz and glamour. At first, she too believed that her life would be better after appearing in her first screen acting gig. That, once everyone saw the show, she would make more friends. Then again, being in acting school often meant your schoolmates were also competition. After all, the acting industry is no stranger to jealousy. Hence, Rachel's life in college got all the more difficult. At Chapman University, she often got bullied for her success, often told that she only got lucky or never deserved it. But despite the animosity, Rachel kept going, landing more roles during and after college. Not only that, she now advocates against bullying, serving at Kid in the Corner as a board member. In the end, her perseverance is what brought her the fame and fortune she always deserved. About Rachel Redleaf: Rachel Redleaf grew up in Scottsdale, Arizona. Here, she discovered her passion for acting and singing at Scottsdale Desert Stages and Greasepaint Theaters, starting at age 4. Since then, show choir has been her happy place, especially in her time at Horizon Highschool. Meanwhile, in 2019, Rachel earned a BFA in Screen Acting from Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at Chapman University. She is also an anti-bullying activist and serves on the board of Kid in the Corner. Outline of the Episode: [01:43] Rachel's progression of her career, from show choir to screen acting [04:14] The struggle of keeping up with different passwords for socials [05:31] Her thoughts on her character Beth Chapin on the Netflix show Atypical [08:04] How Atypical was the first screen acting gig she ever booked [10:41] What it was like auditioning for screen acting gigs amid the pandemic [14:28] Rachel's advice on landing a role when auditioning via a self-taped submission [16:26] Her experience working for Netflix while Join Scott and Mark with their guest, Rachel Redleaf, as they talk about auditioning for screen acting gigs in-person and online. It was while working as an acting teacher and scouring scripts for relevant content her students could relate to, that Talia Rowley realised that maybe if you want something done you have to do it yourself. Meet Talia Rowley, Founder and Chief Writer of Script & Scribe Creations delivering Australian scripts for Australian kids with themes and language we can all relate to.Talia had tried it all when it came to extra-curricular activities but her mum was adamant that she just needed to find that one thing, that spark that would ignite the amazing fire she had inside her. What was that one thing? Acting of course.Taking classes at the Australian School of Performing Arts, Film and Television (ASPAFTV) Talia instantly found that fire. Graduating with a Bachelor of Film and Screen from Griffith University and a Diploma in Screen Acting from Screenwise Talia's journey then came full circle, returning to her first acting school as a teacher.Writing hundreds of scripts for her students to utilise in the classroom Talia unknowingly setting her off on her future path and what would lead to Script and Scribe Creations which launched October 2020.“For young people here in Australia doing courses and acting there was no material that was relevant for what they were facing here and the kind of challenges they were experiencing even in terms of the rhythm in which we speak. The challenge was finding stuff that was challenging and age appropriate and relevant to different age groups and being able to provide all of that in a one stop shop that teachers, parents and students knew would be exactly what they needed. It took a while but that's where it started, from just wanting to provide that resource."Talia also has a team or young writers helping her build the Script & Scribe catalogue. Many of our favourite television series, have featured today’s guest. Iconic shows that were part of our nightly viewing – defining our identity and celebrating the culture. His performances captured us through an array of quintessentially Australian characters; telling stories of WW2 in The Sullivans, Outback Australia in The Flying Doctors and protecting our boarders in Patrol Boat. Fronting them all was charismatic and handsome Andrew McFarlane. In a career that has encompassed television, stage and film, he continues to work in all platforms – citing a delight in a new ‘career’ playing ‘arseholes’. This only proves what a dependable and accomplished actor he is.

Welcome back to Nothing Shines Like Dirt Episode 27, featuring director/filmmaker Elyse Niblett. Her film "The Broken Ones" premiered at the Soho International Film Festival, lessons learned while directing a feature, and digging for the emotional life of your characters. Born and raised in California, Elyse began a life of performance as a ballet dancer. After thirteen years she began training in sketch and paint art. At 21 years of age she discovered acting. She graduated with a BFA in Screen Acting at Chapman University but it wasn't until a few years after graduating that she shifted her focus to directing. With the help of Tony Spiridakis and his Manhattan Film Institute, she made her debut film, The End of the World, about a woman at the end of her rope in a loveless marriage. At MFI, Elyse met Cece King, who would later hire her as the director for the Independent Feature Film, The Broken Ones, which just had its world premiere at the opening night of the SOHO Int'l Film Festival to a sold out theater. Last year Elyse created her production company, Gray Space Productions, with her long time colleague and friend, Blair Nichols. Through her company she has created video content for companies along with narrative short films. They are now in development with two separate feature films, with Elyse at the helm as director. Elyse was always drawn to storytelling and found her home behind the camera. Her background in acting has aided her interpretation of scripts and her ability to shape actor performances. She is beyond excited and grateful for the continued success of her first feature, The Broken Ones, and looks forward to many more. Her favorite part about film is the collaborative process, working with fellow creatives to build a narrative that strives to move, inspire and enlighten her viewers. She would not be here were it not for the tireless support of her family and friends.
