Cory Haynes, aka Tacticooldork, has taken military experience, the high end of airsoft in Milsim, and filmmaking to just that level. Whether it was work on SCP: Overlord, Ten of Swords, or STALKER: Shadow of the Zone, he has brought the tactics, techniques, and procedures we look for in fantasy and depicted reality to the screen. Mark is a film director, cinematographer, editor, colourist and photographer driven by his love for the natural world. Over the past 10 years he has travelled to around 50 countries to explore life as it naturally appears to be. His curiosity and love for life has inspired him to find ways to frame these insights to share a fresh perspective. His most recent project, “Chasing the Present”, took an unconventional approach, pushing the boundaries of the documentary form, whilst framing an extremely important message. The spontaneous idea arose in 2016, that sent him and some filmmakers on a 6 month trip to see if the film could develop organically by immersing themselves in the present. Six months turned into three years, and “Chasing the Present” evolved into a deeply immersive feature film, exploring the root cause of mental suffering, the mystery of consciousness and the nature of the Self. Mark is an amazing man with so much wisdom and I hope you guys enjoy this conversation as much as I did!

David Dalsmalchian (@dastmalchian) is a triple threat – writer, actor and producer, appearing in independent films and major blockbuster hits alike. This quality makes him the perfect actor for films like The Dark Night (2008), Ant Man (2015) and Prisoners (2015) where he plays disquieting yet distinctive characters. However, success was not easy. His persistent persona, which brought Animals (2013)to SXSW, comes from pulling himself up by the bootstraps after battling his heroin addiction. In this episode, David gets real about finding success after addiction, what it is like to make a successful indie film SXSW-ready film, and his non-linear path as an actor. David's collaborations with Buffalo 8 include the Buffalo 8 Post-Production and Produced film Teacher (2019).  See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
